    There's another new Janome in the Chatterbox Quilts' studio: the Janome Continental M7. In this video, I compare both the Janome MC9450 and the M7. While there are many differences between the Janome MC94540 and the M7, I wanted to give you a quick overview of the ones that are most obvious. More videos on the Janome Continental M7 are coming!

    Purchased the MC9450 in May and I love it. My dealer never closed as an essential business for masks making. I would have loved to have the M7 but couldn't justify the additional cost. Sewing is a hobby for me so I'm mindful of what I spend. The 9450 I purchased had been used in 1 class before the classes got shutdown, so I was able to get for just over half price.

    the M7 is a BEAST! she is so cool though! i just love looking at these fabulous machines eventhough i am not a quilter. But one day i want to grow up and play with the big girls! lol! i am just a measley singer beginner sewer who has a Singer 4411 and i just started back sewing (i have not sewn since high school and i always wanted to get back into it)

      We all started on a Singer, I think. 😉 I find that you grow into a new machine as your skills and needs grow and you don't have to get a super expensive machine. I started my quilting journey on a 1980's Singer and the teacher didn't think it would work when it came to the actual quilting part but it did just find. It wasn't until I really got into quilting that I purchased a more robust and feature-laden machine - and that was a few machines ago. Enjoy your step back into the stitching world!

    I have the. 8900 and love it! But these two look wonderful! Thanks for explaining the differences. I bought my 8900 because it had a large throat area for getting quilts through. Now I am excited to see a larger throat area in the Continental.

    Love your videos.
    I would've liked to have seen some real differences. As in, the M7 has this feature but the MC9450 doesn't and vice versa.

    Yes. I have a Janome 9450 and I have an M7. The question box would not allow me to mark both.

      I guess that's because not many people have both! You are a lucky girl!

      Chatterbox Quilts Yes, I know I am. I just could not let go of the Dream when I bought the Lumi

      And I felt the same way when the M7 came along. Besides, the 9450 has a free arm!

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts  4 роки тому

      Yes and that is one thing lacking on the M7. If you were a garment sewist I'm not sure that this would be the appropriate machine for that person.

      Chatterbox Quilts mostly i make things - but bags are much easier with a free arm. And occasionally i hem things that are too long.
      LOL

    Can you say something about Ruler Work and Free Motion quilting on both machines please.

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts  4 роки тому +2

      I have several videos on free motion quilting on the 9400, which is the same for the 9450. I'll be getting into more topics on the M7 in the upcoming months.

    Is the M7 a more powerful machine than the 9450. Could the M7 be compared to a Juki for sewing heavy thick materials that would be in purses and bags? Thx

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts  4 роки тому

      I would say that the M7 is a bit more powerful than the 9450 but both should sew well through fabrics to make purses or bags and I've done several layers of batting and fabric on both machines. I just stitched the back of my son's baseball cap together which was through a few layers of fabric and plastic as well. I did do this manually but the M7 didn't have any problems.

      I just finished a quilted tote bag with my new M7. I was amazed with how it went through two quilted layers with a quilted strap. 7 layers or fabric and 3 layers of batting. Didn’t have any problem, stitches perfectly through the thick and thin. Loving it.

    Which machine sews more layers of fabrics?

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts  2 роки тому

      They both should be able to stitch the same layers of fabric and the number of layers, of course, depends on what type of fabric it is.

    I have a MC9900. Is the MC9450 a step down?

    • @Chatterboxquilts
      @Chatterboxquilts  4 роки тому

      No, I wouldn't say that. It is a stitching only machine - no embroidery. It is larger than the 9900 and has more stitches, more feet and other features. The 9900 has the embroidery module which the 9450 doesn't have. Different machines entirely.
