I remember buying A Sun That Never Sets and AFI - Black Sails in the Sunset on the same trip to NME. the cashier complimented me and told me both albums were absolutely stellar. tbh I don't think that could've been any more true with any other albums to buy at the time. Lateralus by Tool was pretty groundbreaking at the time. That album probably broke us out of the endless barrage of "post-grunge" bullshit coming out at the time. But there was nothing about Lateralus preventing it from being played on the multitude of "alt-rock, modern rock, etc" radio stations at the time. You weren't going to hear this on your drive home from work. Anyone who argues that this album wasn't influential, doesn't know what they're talking about.
Neurosis is one of the best bands to come out in ages. The very fact that they make sister albums via Tribes of Neurot to play in conjunction with these is a testament to how invested they truly are. Their music is the soundtrack quite literally to my dreams, and I thank them for it...
👍if you haven't already you should check out through silver and blood album started at the beginning along with silver blood transmission album started at beginning of song 4 Just Amazing !!! 👍🔥😎
I've always set Neurosis as their own genre of music. Amazing band and am honored to have lived in a time to see some of their greatest work come forth.
Idk why but this song makes me feel at home. It's initially unsettling but in the end quite comforting. I think the lyrics definitely add to this. A friend of mine made a comment about the chord progression never being satisfied, reinforcing the sun that never sets metaphor.
One of the most underrated bands. And perhaps in a weird way it is good that they never went mainstream which makes bands go about churning out crap owing to contractual obligations and a lust for chasing charts and profits.
"A sun that never sets burns on New light is this river's dawn When to speak of a word so old Is to relearn what is known A time to think back and move on Relive the lives of loves long gone The blood that flows through me is not my own The blood is from the past, not my own The blood that leads my life is not my own The blood is my strength, I'm not alone" ...all from memory
Ahh, I just love this song! The blood that flows through me is not my own. The blood is from the past, not my own. The blood that leads my life is not my own. The blood is strength, I'm not alone.
this is the best band in the world. Pure emotion, the path of a righteous warrior through the trial of tribulations. They are the amalgamate with darkness of pink floyd.
Everytime I hear those lyrics... The blood that flows through me is not my own... The blood is from the past not my own... The blood that leads my life is not my own... The blood is my strength I'm not alone... It reminds me of every poor indoctrinated fool on this planet, we're all indoctrinated to some extent. But more specifically all those people stuck in civilizations that have only experienced pain, loss, and suffering. But their primary form of strength is through their unity. Neurosis... 20+ years of grade A music.
I used to want part of that as a tattoo. Between the Scottish side of my family telling me tales of the days of old and my mom's dad moving from Mexico in the 40s and changing his name from Guillermo to Bill and refusing to speak Spanish, the last weighs heavy on my personal history. Which makes it all the more frustrating that I was talked out of it by an ex who told me (correctly) that out of context as a tattoo, some of those words sound like white power slogans.
And I know the band couldn't have meant it that way (I knew one of them, and I could never think that about them), but it's a shitty world where a deeply meaningful song lyric has to be given a second thought as a tattoo because assholes ruined certain combinations of words
How do you get on with the rest of your day if you start with neurosis? If I start my day with Neurosis and a wake and bake that's a wrap on whatever I had planned.
Came to this band after listening to Absent In Bodys album Plague God (mix of ex band members from Sepultra, Neurosis and Amenra) and I sure as hell wasn't disappointed.
Well I know I'm living in paradise with my lord in eternal worship when I die because I asked him to live in my heart. I am at peace with that. I suggest it to all
"The blood that flows through me is not my own. The blood is from the past, not my own. The blood that leads my life is not my own. The blood is my strength, I'm not alone."
I'm so fucking glad I came across Isis and now Neurosis. These bands just have such emotion behind their songs, if anyone hasn't heard Garden of Light by Isis; Go listen to it now, that song blew my mind.
Your shit. Find something better to do. Regardless of Relapse Neurosis is a great band that found a sound that is unique. I bet there is nothing you do that is your own rather than be a hater cyber troll. Fuck you!
The first time I heard this song, made me depressed. I was also scared the shit out of this band when I was trying to listen to one whole album from them. Good times.
The feeling that I felt when hearing this song for the first time is so unexplainable. It's like a mixture of depression and doom. I really miss that feeling. This song also introduced me to this epic band. NEUROSIS KICKS ASS. Simple as that!
Welcome to the "tribe" Broken One32.... Enjoy! See them live and you will understand.... Neurosis is the most passionate band of our time. They are an "audio sledgehammer", only followed by their LIVE video show and on-stage performance! They will leave you with a "gaping mouth" and a want to see them again and again. I have seen them 6 times, and I always want more. Not everyone "gets" them, but if you have an open mind, you will be rewarded in a concert experience like no other.
Hey , Tibbonds, You cannot even imagine how right you are...I mean no suicides,no murders, but this is totally last thing you'd love to listen to untill you're alive.Love this track though...a lot
yeah, totally. ive always thought of it as his blood being true beliefs, soul, drive, and by separating it from himself he is letting it burn on, and knowing that it is always constant and steady even when on a moment to moment basis you can be feeling all sorts of things. so, having something steady and powerful, a sun that never sets, even when you are feeling unsteady yourself. knowledge that youre not alone, you have your true beliefs with you and they never set and never waver.
Uh, guys. This song is one of the most positive Neurosis songs. Crawl Back In would be an example of a vastly more depressing one. Or Origin from Given to the Rising.
Neurosis is the biggest secret in Metal music. They are the best band and they know it. Truely unique in their craft.
I remember buying A Sun That Never Sets and AFI - Black Sails in the Sunset on the same trip to NME. the cashier complimented me and told me both albums were absolutely stellar. tbh I don't think that could've been any more true with any other albums to buy at the time. Exactly, emotional, powerful, raw, that is the true meaning of "heavy".

I can't unhear this
The lyrics are so simple yet so deeply impactful, thanks for this song Neurosis !
One of the most underrated bands. And perhaps in a weird way it is good that they never went mainstream which makes bands go about churning out crap owing to contractual obligations and a lust for chasing charts and profits.
true bands are always underrated
not always
no, not really
I wouldn't call them underrated. Who needs to know them - knows them.
they help keep the underground lit
one of the best songs ever written
You life??
This song is existentially powerful. Your blood is not your own, but its your strength!
family is blood and family is your strength; strength of family fates!!

Same!
@@gnnguy Too bad the lead singer is an utter piece of shit for the things he did to his family.
You're in for a ride! Neurosis is one of my favorite bands.
Welcome 🙏🏽 🤘🏽
Hate to tell you, it’s over..
this is the best band in the world. Pure emotion, the path of a righteous warrior through the trial of tribulations. They are the amalgamate with darkness of pink floyd.
They rendered this on the Sega Genesis
Still one the best songs/albums/bands of all time!
Be sure to see them play live...that will really leave you speechless.
Saw them in 1990 at E n Js Pizza in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Yes
artistically the most impressive interesting metal music band I’ve listened to
NEUROSIS
IS
INCREDIBLE
This makes me think of my ancestors, my fathers and makes me feel grounded. The blood that flows through me is not my own...
I believe that people who list3n to Tool and think it's "deep", have never heard Neurosis
Been into this band a long time now this is probably my favourite one lyrically. Just brilliant
This is the kind of music that deserves 1,000,000 hits. Breathtaking.
amazing and simple bassline... everything is great.... possibly the greatest song lyric-wise they're ever written.
Everytime I hear those lyrics... The blood that flows through me is not my own... The blood is from the past not my own... The blood that leads my life is not my own... The blood is my strength I'm not alone...

Neurosis can create illusions when being listened...So unique band.Their music is beyond any comparison to others, very passionable.
this song takes all of the stress and pressure away. I wish more bands could accomplish that with their music.
Great to watch the entire DVD with a wake and bake, early morning, still dark out, before work...
How do you get on with the rest of your day if you start with neurosis? If I start my day with Neurosis and a wake and bake that's a wrap on whatever I had planned.
Tha DVD was my first Neurosis purchase, back when it was brand-new. Too bad they didn't release a full album video for every record
I've seen this 100 times and still.
Talking about authentic modern Gnosis... Neurosis is the first thing that comes to my mind.
Remember i pissed myself in their bus in 96 from bergen to flekkefjord in norway. Good times❤
Came to this band after listening to Absent In Bodys album Plague God (mix of ex band members from Sepultra, Neurosis and Amenra) and I sure as hell wasn't disappointed.
Wow
it reminds me im not alone, that their are others like me

Thank's to LSD!
Many thank's to Neurosis!
So true man. Downtempo its where its at. The beats fall so much more heavily when they come at you slowly.
Well I know I'm living in paradise with my lord in eternal worship when I die because I asked him to live in my heart. I am at peace with that. I suggest it to all
I don't need the paradise with the lord in eternal worship!
Not as long as I have Neurosis!
Touching

found this on accident, it's so good 😭
You didn't find it. It found you.
Love how you can tell Albini recorded it right out of the gate, incredible drum sound he gets.
So atmospheric.
Steve Albini produced this album.
Nick soandso it's evident
The way he mixes drums on every album he does along with the room room reverb, classic albini sound 🤘🏻☮️
The guitar reminds me of Whatever that hurts.
Excellent lyrics.
Neurosis are legends. I'm going to see them again tomorrow, after almost 10 years, can't wait.
Absolute masterpiece of sorrow
One of the greatest tunes ever. This shit is worthy of being the last song you ever listen to.
I did play this album for a terminally ill friend and it seriously was one of the last things he heard. Thats what friends are for!!
The blood that flows through me is not my own...The blood is from the past and not my own...The blood that leads my life is not my own...
Relapse needs to re-up with better quality.

reminds me of when i was becoming myself in my mother's womb....... good times
Listening this song live was a somehow unearthly experience.
IMHO, the best song off their best record. also, one of steve albini's greatest recordings, if not the greatest.
