I was just hit by a sudden burst of depression out of nowhere. All I felt like I wanted to do was put this song on, and I've been playing it over and over every time it ends, mainly for that part around 4:00.
So…? What do you see? I see a soul having decided on something detrimental, like suicide. Something terrible that cannot be undone, and also something terrible that can immediately and forever be ascribed to famous musicians... A great detriment as far as subject matter goes- but a beautiful song instrumentally, to share with numerous people as a way of hopefully bringing so many of us miserable souls together.
Fighting the sickness ..getting clean and stealing your heart back from the beast only to get complacent and let your gaurd down..just long enough for the old you to come back and bury what you built..you helped it kill you..you crawled back in.. This band inspires me and I love the passion they help me feel..thanx... I thought it was gone.. Neurosis I love you.
What? this is Neurosis. You really surprised it doesn't appeal to everyone? Well, it is what it is. Don't like it? then don't! Who gives a shit in the end. I've known these guys since the earlier 90'ies and a lot of their stuff doesn't really touch me, but what does, touches me like nothing else could... Including Von Till's solo-stuff. So in the end I'm just glad these guys still do their thing
neurosis is some of the best sludge metal out there.....and this is a really old song. did they just decide to put out a vid for a song thats almost 10 years old?
I love Neurosis at every era of style, but the most minimal version of them I have to say is my absolute favorite. Love this so much. This album is the one that really opened me to them and Souls at Zero / Through Silver in Blood, oddly enough is what hooked me. But I come back to their minimalist period the most.
i've been listening to Neurosis for the last 5 years or so, and i still wonder if i would ever understand this music... i mean..it's painfully slow, quiet, repetitive and basically everything music should not be, but is still like it. and i don't even know why..
Next time a friend of yours tries to tell you about br00tal white chapel or suicide silence, show them this. This shit will blow their minds, i know it did to me.
Well Scott Kelly and a few other members have families and kids. Look at Pig Destroyer, they rarely do tours and if they do they never stray far but would you say they're "not around"? No, musicians can take they're damn sweet time as long as the music they continue to produce is good.
@KlondikeBarian of course you can, oranges are way better than apples. But seriously, I agree with you, there is no point in comparing artists, just listn to what you like.
They just did a show with Heaven and Hell dude AND there are bands that have gone longer in between albums. Also 2007 is not for years, it's been 2 years since Given to the Rising....
Scott Kelly should kind of consider joining mastodon if he hasn't already, considering all the guest work he's done for them...his vox on crack the skye were the absolute best.
isis' and cult of luna's music is like a little light through a closed curtain. dark, but with a shiny light in the end of the tunnel. neurosis is a fucking insane madman hitting his head in an absolute dark padded cell over and over against the wall.
@Indiegirl007 the more diverse my favourite genre gets the more i get to listen to! i say roll on the sub genres, they dont effect what i like/dislike.
@CavemanZX I haven't forget Candlemass but I just caught the first three names that my mind suggested..if had to be four names, be sure that Candlemass would have been named... :)
@KlondikeBarian agreed. but you can always say you like the apple more. and theres nothing wrong with that. unless your talking about eating a shit sandwich. EX: BMTH, BROKENCYDE, ALL RAP, ESCAPE THE FATE.
@MetalxXxMayhem considering their origins lies in hardcore punk and they made their way from that also through metal it sounds quite obvious saying what you say...also..doom metal is part of their influences...absolutely not their most exclusive trademark...doom bands are Saint Vitus, Solitude Aeternus and go on this way...Neurosis are Neurosis...many different influences mixed together gives what they become...difficult to label them....anyway, I respect your opinion and your dislike... :)
@Dale Griffim hahahhaa fuck off, pretty sure it's considered music. Guess you've never heard a good Hip-Hop song and if that's the case I feel sorry for you. Most genres have their gems.
I've tried listening to this song again, and i still think it sounds like crap. I don't care what other ppl's opinions of it are or what you think about my opinion. I'm not just gunna like it cuz you like it. Thats how music like solja boy gets popular.
I think it’s about the failure of love, or a failure of redemption through love. The figure in the beginning sacrifices his heart to something greater than himself, but when it emerges it is horrifying, and it destroys him. The “newborn” is seen placing the stone heart atop the dead man - an act of rejection, or reversal, of his sacrifice. In the end dust claims the man and he is gone without a trace. Consider the final line of the song: “The past is never forgiven, it is atoned.” Arguably what happens in the video is atonement, but we see that it is not forgiveness - it creates a life that brings death.
Love them. Neurosis' music has helped me get through some tough times. Their music heals and takes you somewhere else. Be it the light or dark side.
Kick in the guts, in a good way. Should be named Catharsis, actually.
I was just hit by a sudden burst of depression out of nowhere.
All I felt like I wanted to do was put this song on, and I've been playing it over and over every time it ends, mainly for that part around 4:00.
This song hurts, in a way I don't think many songs do.
As a Neurosis buff, I didn't really dig this song until recently. It's one big emotional crescendo. Great stuff.
I bought honor found in decay knowing I wasn’t ready for it and set it aside for a couple of years.
these lyrics touch my soul man.... really deep lyrics.
Where the light has burned out, where hope lies panting, there you find Neurosis.
4.02 I cry everytime...
Oh I know
Weird... i just get a rush of euphoria. So i see hope where you see suffering
Ah, but yes. 'The Mogwai Part'.
Why haven't I heard of this band before. Listening to Through Silver and Blood Album now.
👊I am a fan now👊
Fighting the sickness ..getting clean and stealing your heart back from the beast only to get complacent and let your gaurd down..just long enough for the old you to come back and bury what you built..you helped it kill you..you crawled back in..

Like uncle touch?
I can never get enough of this. A masterpiece.
Awesome band got into them through Mastodon. This is really brutal.
I love the clear part at 4.02...it's like remembering good memories when you are in bad ones.
Awesome, Neurosis is one of the few metal bands still around today that continue to amaze me.
neurosis is some of the best sludge metal out there.....and this is a really old song. did they just decide to put out a vid for a song thats almost 10 years old?

Amazing video, epic in so many ways. I wish more videos had depth as this one does.
I hope neurosis do another dvd someday, even if it's just a live show. give us something guys! my wallet is open!

Wow, the star rating. This is how you know that this is an old comment.
Aside from the "10 years ago" written next to it.
A Sun That Never Sets

Next time a friend of yours tries to tell you about br00tal white chapel or suicide silence, show them this. This shit will blow their minds, i know it did to me.
this was my first time listening to this band. Interesting...
sick!
Nice !
New album is due out sometime soon actually.
@DethmetalUSA That's my favorite track on that whole album. Gives me chills every time.
For metalman, if you're going to listen to Neurosis you need to listen to the killer tracks like Lost. Lost is fucking amazing!
well thats a find thank you much
Well Scott Kelly and a few other members have families and kids. Look at Pig Destroyer, they rarely do tours and if they do they never stray far but would you say they're "not around"? No, musicians can take they're damn sweet time as long as the music they continue to produce is good.
This the most depressing song/video ever. I think i have neurosis now.
so isolating
@KlondikeBarian of course you can, oranges are way better than apples. But seriously, I agree with you, there is no point in comparing artists, just listn to what you like.
And you're just so much better, right?
@supersadogoat There needs to be more people like you on youtube. Thumbs up to you.

They just did a show with Heaven and Hell dude AND there are bands that have gone longer in between albums. Also 2007 is not for years, it's been 2 years since Given to the Rising....

hey im looking for the best Neurosis album to buy. Im a new fan of them and idk what i should get for an album...
this guy needs a hamgurger
Scott Kelly should kind of consider joining mastodon if he hasn't already, considering all the guest work he's done for them...his vox on crack the skye were the absolute best.
what do you mean?
its from their A Sun That Never Sets dvd..
its also on the relapse youtube, not like some dude made a video and posted it
isis' and cult of luna's music is like a little light through a closed curtain. dark, but with a shiny light in the end of the tunnel.
neurosis is a fucking insane madman hitting his head in an absolute dark padded cell over and over against the wall.
I can`t find any words for this song... great?...!!!!
@Timpaled
Neurosis "Locust Star" live
not simple, artwork. (to the one who can understand it)
What genre is this considered to be?
@Indiegirl007 the more diverse my favourite genre gets the more i get to listen to! i say roll on the sub genres, they dont effect what i like/dislike.
@CavemanZX I haven't forget Candlemass but I just caught the first three names that my mind suggested..if had to be four names, be sure that Candlemass would have been named... :)
@Indiegirl007 Sludge Metal. Probably leaning more into the Atmospheric Sludge area.
Anybody know the what the symbol on his stomach represents?
withdrawals suck
You Kan Haz Cheezburger!
These comments are horrible. Neurosis is a good band, if you don’t like them you don’t like them.
based on what i've heard from them they are experimental sludge/doom metal
fuck yeah! i met the keyboardist and i came in my pants!
@KlondikeBarian agreed. but you can always say you like the apple more.
and theres nothing wrong with that.
unless your talking about eating a shit sandwich.
EX: BMTH, BROKENCYDE, ALL RAP, ESCAPE THE FATE.
the guy @ 1:50-2:06 must be suffring from neurosis. haha get it lol :)

There's nobody like Neurosis.
You've probably heard them by now, but try Amenra.
@WOGNUMBER1GODFOREVER Haha just a pnacake. Classic.
Interpretative dance?
LOL!
@JohnDeathMetal All rap? Fuck that. I love my metal, but I love my Wu-Tang, Cannibal Ox, Biggie Smalls and Kid Cudi too.
@Dale Griffim hahahhaa fuck off, pretty sure it's considered music. Guess you've never heard a good Hip-Hop song and if that's the case I feel sorry for you. Most genres have their gems.
I am viewer 66,666. Grim.
@thebirchmanste i liked the end of that comment
mighty odd..
I'm not saying this band is not good but....it's make me sick! ja!
@ooULra There are too many damn genres in Metal. It's almost like they're popping up over night.
@celariomfoam -.-
This guy could use a zantac, or that purple pill. Clear that shit right up, sonny!
I've tried listening to this song again, and i still think it sounds like crap. I don't care what other ppl's opinions of it are or what you think about my opinion. I'm not just gunna like it cuz you like it. Thats how music like solja boy gets popular.
if u think this was crazy... search up noctem..

I get the meaning of the lyrics but wats the meaning of the video?
i don't get this video
