Tool's song titled 'Flood' is basically the same message and this tune. Listen to the lyrics to Flood. Also Isis' song titled ' From sinking', and loads more Rock bands stated the same. With that said, Eye can't stop laughing that LOADS of fantastic Rock bands told you since the beginning it's all about Entheogen plants (Alchemy) that take you deep within. For example, the first Metal band Black Sabbath's song titled ' Behind the Wall of sleep', to Bruce Dickinson of Maiden with his song titled ' The Alchemist', of which I have a video of the song on my channel. To Queensryche with their song titled ' Tribe', listen to tribe it's all about Shamanism and Entheogen plants. Ever since the beginning in the 1960's with Jefferson Airplane's song titled ' White Rabbit', of course it's about Psilicybin mushrooms, in other words, Entheogen plants (Alchemy). Heck, you can go to all genres of Rock, to prog rock, Isis for example has loads of spiritual experiences via Entheogen plants ( I spoke to the band), hence why the album cover to Isis' ' In the Absence of Truth', is a pot of Ayahuasca cooking. Also, Neurosis has loads of interviews of their experiences with entheogen plants ( alchemy), hence their powerful, deep, and beautiful music. A useless bible - toter can listen to a divine magical Heavy Metal song such as ' Over the Mountain' by Ozzy Osbourne in 1981, all about going deep within to spiritual ascension, and a bible - toter can spend everyday in their useless brainwashed lives listening to that song and they will still have no clue what it all means, however we Shamans know all of what it means in infinite spiritual magic and divine beauty via direct spiritual experiences. if you say this band is not talented, then you are wrong. it is clear. there's an undeniable talent here. whether you like what they've done with that talent, that's your opinion (completely crazy, in MY opinion, if you don't like what they've done with it, but hey..), but it is a fact that these guys know what they are doing when it comes to writing, playing, and recording songs. you cannot deny this. any jerk with ears and a logical frame of mind can see they have talent. talent =/= opinion k?
I love this song. It starts off as a soothing tide that ebbs and flows as Von Till sings and as the acoustic guitars create a wistful atmosphere. Then, suddenly, the whole song erupts into a gigantic tidal wave that rages on and on until the end of the song. The song is apocalyptic like many of Neurosis's songs, but it is thrives, unlike many others pre-Sun that Never Sets, in its thoughtfulness. Through Silver In Blood is still my personal favorite though, but in a different way!
To be completely honest, I agree that mastodon does have a lot of the elements of neurosis within their music. However they remain a very unique and diverse band. You wouldn't look at most metal bands and say they stole Black Sabbaths sound would you? Music is an ever evolving wheel that collects bits here and there and continues to present them in a modern and relevant form.
I watched these guys in Houston a while back and I didn't think they'd be able to match their recorded sound but they exceeded it. The only problem was that the crowd had idiots who kept "woo"ing every time there was a quiet section in the music. For a band whose intensity hinges so much on dynamics, it was so jarring and rude.
I agree with you. I listen to Neurosis' music and believe there is a cinematic quality to it. And I mean that with 200% respect for the band. I'd love for them to score films.
I actually agree with you. I think Tool's only two interesting records are Aenima and Lateralus, and neither comes even close to the sheer emotional power of Neurosis' music. Neurosis is just fucking untouchable...
