Here's a deep dive into the great, Jim Dickinson. Highly recommended!

OMFG! I can't believe I almost missed this, perhaps the coolest Otis interview ever!
Tommy Stinson IS rock 'n roll, embodied in a human being.
Extra thanks for this one, Otis.
Long live The 'Mats!
Keith Richards, Jim Dickinson and the Replacements. You have my attention Sir
Love these Tommy interviews! Thanks Otis!
right on so there are more Tommy interviews?
Man, you are collecting some really Ace stuff. Like a modern day Lomax! Please keep it up
I got to have dinner with Tommy once in Oakland. I had just finished Trouble Boys and was looking forward to picking his brain about the Mats but he wasn't having it. He mostly wanted to talk about Buckethead and GnR which was totally cool too. I was sober at the time but he went through three drinks. Then he excused himself early cuz he had to do something called "Drinking with Tommy" where fans payed to have a drink with him before his show. I went to his show and he killed it. I ran into him and his drummer a year later at a bar in SF. It was around noon. I was still sober but was there to do some business. I couldn't believe it but he somehow remembered me. He even remembered my name. It was one of the coolest moments of my life!
Would have loved to talk buckethead with tommy
Otis I'll say it again - thank you so much for not censoring language on your vids...you really rock...great stuff as always.
Love these chats with Tommy, Otis. Thanks for putting them together!
I grew up in Mpls during this time period. Very interesting.
i always look forward to Otis interviews. You let them talk.
Thanks for the Tommy interviews. I freakin' love that first Bash & Pop album and of course The 'Mats.
Oh man. I saw the 'Mats on that Petty tour where they were about as out of water as a fish could bel. Also worked at a coffee shop in the 90s where Tommy used to come in for his first caffeine of the day. Not gonna lie, seemed like he may not have been in the best of shape some of those morning, still hurting a little bit. But always an incredibly gracious, friendly guy. I"m not surprised he has become such a successful sideman, excellent player, but at least as importantly the kind of guy you don't mind sharing a dressing room/hotel/bus with for a month or two. Great stuff, Otis, thanks a ton.
Great interview. Caught Jim way back playing with his sons. Pure legend.
FYI - they opened for Keith at the Brendan Byrne Arena in Joisey - December '88. I scalped a ticket thinking I'd never see the Mats in an arena again. And then came the Petty tour...
Tommy Stinson and Keith Richards are a part of music that connect art to music and make the sum grater than their parts. In their wake are the many artists of all stripes that share the same essence. Long live art. ☮
My guitar teacher (way back in the day) played with Tommy in Perfect.
One of Jim's last projects, was working with our boys from Memphis, Lucero..!!! 💚💚💚
I love Tommy stories.
Man I love the " Please to Meet Me " album from '87. It's my favorite next to " Let It Be ". Tommy Rules!
Tommy is great interview
We need more interviews with you and Tommy. ASAP
Great interview. Long time 'Mats fan. Tommy is very articulate. Thanks Otis.
Terry Reid. His River album with David Lindley is amazing.
Thank you Tommy & Otis
pleasant, relaxed
Jim rubbed elbows with some musical heavyweights, that’s for sure. I like the Dylan story when Bob went down to the Zebra Ranch and after taking the scene in, turned to Jim and said, “you know Jim, a man could do some thinking down here”, probably while staring at Leon Russell’s piano in the yard.
As far as Jim telling stories, “stories” could very well have a double meaning, depending on which story Jim was telling.
Tommy was created to be a musician. He’s a legend that must be protected at all costs.
Tommy is so cool.
nice
Does Benmont Tench know Tommy shops out of his closet?
during the tour where the Mats opened for Petty/Heartbreakers, Benmont would come out and play keys during part of their set
No doubt! But that doesn’t answer the question… 😂
Tommy Stinson 🤘
I actually really enjoy that Perfect album!
Bluster! a whole lot.awsome!
"Big Star & Terry Reid?" How can you go wrong!
Thank you Otis!!!
Tommy Stinson has disliked me since I stole his girlfriend in 1997ish. I will jam if Tommy wants to apologize!
Is this Otis's house? I've seen this room before.
Big Star
✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
Tommy is the greatest. The Replacements are the all time Kings. Never be another!
Mud Boy and the Nutrons. Go find them on here if you want to hear Jim Dickinson in his element
Also, thinking the Keef bio Tommy mentions is prob the one by Stanley Booth, who is a music writer you need to check out if you haven’t. His Dancing With the Devil (believe this is book Tommy mentions) is prob my second fav Stones book and the best I’ve read about their first years. Rhythm Oil is also a must read book
@TR-yi8up, Jim had a hand in setting up the Stones in Muscle Shoals, but it was actually Stanley who got it done, as he and Jerry Wexler were good friends. Stanley was at the sessions, too. You Got to Move, Brown Sugar and Wild Horses.
The Winos >>>>> the Stones
Corey Feldmanesque
