    Very educational. I was diagnosed prediabetic over 20 years ago, put on Metformin and forgotten about. No diabetic education, nothing. I was always perplexed that my A1C seemed acceptable even though I had elevated spikes in blood sugar. It has only been recently that I took control of my own health, and now feel better. I keep meticulous records of my blood sugar, but my providers barely glance at them. This lecture has validated my own conclusions and encourages me to stay on the path. Unfortunately, I have developed some of the complications you mentioned.
    I appreciate this lecture. It is very beneficial, than you❤.

      It is the pt's responsibilities to follow-up with their endocrinologist. It is just not the A1C but torrents of bloodwork done needed to be monitored and sometimes a regular annual thyroid U/S is also needed.
      Complacency is your worst enemy.

    I would love a video that explained the different methodologies between a ketogenic diet and a Whole Foods plant based diet in treating diabetes. I’ve been told great things about both, but I am sure there are different reasons one may before better for certain people over others.

      Who else keeps getting told that Metformin is safe & wonderful, however their body hates to take it on a bone-deep level? I seem to have enormous sunconscious hangups about taking my pills & vitamins, which has developed since starting metformin 2 years ago. I feel so well & normal without it. One can't help but wonder to oneself: why do my doctors want me to take it & be miserable?
      I'm smashing more vegetables into my diet & cutting out bready & sugary things for now so I can get a jump on a weight loss intended to reverse prediabetes, but the much-despised metformin is being ignored for now.

    I appreciate what you’re doing for me and my friends learning about our body and everything because our doctors now in Rochester New York cannot spend more than 15 minutes per customer I asked him how can they diagnose cancer or anything like that in 15 minutes they said all people get 15 minutes and that’s it so as soon as I sit down, they take my blood pressure and stuff. The meeting is over. I don’t even finish my conversation so now I’m learning from you. Thank you very much, and so far things are working out fine for me. My sugar has went down. I do feel better. My arm is not hurting at all. Thank you so much and I’m going to continue on learning from you. Thank you.

    Dr. Sung this is off topic, but was curious to know if you may help out. My son caught covid 5 days ago. Has fever for about 2 days, now coughing, had headache, chills and now blowing out bloody mucus and coughing up bloody phlegm. What are your thoughts and suggestions. He's 21 BTW

      He might have pneumonia so it might be more than covid. The doctor won't touch this question because of potential law suits and trouble with his license.

    Hi Dr Jin - huge fan of your content. Water-fasting has been a huge part of my life. I was wondering if you could do a video on when ketones are actually produced within the body and do you continuously burn fat when you hit the 72 hour mark of fasting or does the body turn to muscle for energy?

    My FBS is almost always between 99-110. In fact, it doesn't matter when my blood draw is done, fasting or not fasting. 2° PP or 12° fasting it falls in that range. My A1C, for years was either 5.6 or 5.7, the last one a year ago, was 5.4. does this make me pre-diabetic??

    • @dorothybrown8859

      Kat, I followed that pattern for the past couple of decades, all while taking Metformin. Some docs said I was pre, others said I have diabetes. Recently, concerned about my elevated a.m. sugars, I began checking my sugars morning and bedtime. If over 100 at bedtime I take the supplement, Berberine. What a difference! I feel better overall, and my morning fasting is normal. My A1C has dropped below 5 for the first time in decades! Just sharing my experience.

      @@dorothybrown8859May I ask, what brand of berberine do you take and how much? I have the same predicament and A1c stays at 5.5 and can’t get any lower. According to some broadcasters anything stays above 100 is pre-diabetic. Thanks

    I'm Lmhr. I fasted for 16hr but I have higher than normal insulin(12.5) and glucose (114). I might have been doing gluconeogenesis in the early morning. I had an appointment at 9am.

    • @KatieZeldin
      @KatieZeldin 5 місяців тому +1

      Lmhr is irrelevant to elevated blood sugar. Looks like you're insulin resistant. I am and my blood glucose can be above 100 even 27 hours into fast.

      @@KatieZeldinI went back to keto again. I was low carb for 3 years, previously 2 years keto. I've been tracking my blood glucose more than 7x a day for a week. It's been stable 80-90.

    My wife is on the typical protocol for type 2 diabetes. She is on medication for diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and eye dry issues. I'm wondering if she has type 1.5 diabetes, because she was diagnosed with this in her 30's

    • @dellamorton9102
      @dellamorton9102 5 місяців тому +1

      Typical type 2 diabetes can develop 10 + years after poor eating habits. It won't show up in the blood work until the body has too many carbs and sugars and nowhere to put it then shows up on the blood work. Type 2 also is autoimmune as well if there is food allergies and inflammation which is caused by taking antibiotics as a side effect. This doctor has a video for that too on leaky gut how to heal naturally
