Might you explain “neutral spine”? Is it different than the “flat back” we learned doing the Primary Back Stretch? Is it neither arched (butt up) nor tucked? Thank you for these wonderful videos!
Certainly! I'd be glad to explain that a bit. The neutral spine is quite similar to Teresa's "flat back" positioning but with a few differences. It's just what you described- butt is not tucked, and it's not arched, either. I have found as a trainer that if someone performs the"tailbone up/flat back" position too aggressively with LOTS of "arch," it can be aggravating for the back. Especially if they have a weak core! If you use the neutral spine position shown here, you will get more core muscles out of it than the "tailbone up/flat back" position. I have tried the "flat back" with less arch when doing PBS and Oil wells and it makes a huge difference!! Hope this is helpful! :)
