- Thank you, Angela @TheInquisitiveFarmwife for another amazing #freezedriedfebruary! This year, I've been zesting lemons for weeks. One of my favorite ways to use it is to make a natural, non-toxic homemade scouring powder. Not only does it smell good, but I was able to take years of yellowing hard-water build-up off of my bathroom sink basin and bathtub!
This collaboration is being sponsored, in part, by @harvestright, @TheInquisitiveFarmwife and Avid Armor. Make sure to use the link below to enter to win the exclusive Medium Harvest Right freeze dryer, available only from February 1 through February 28.

I love it, happy, healthy cleaning. Thanks for showing us how to make a natural homemade cleaner. The nontoxic cleaner is a win-win, and the smell of citrus is a bonus!
This is awesome! Thank you! Thank you Angela for getting this together and thank you harvest right for a give away!

YAY! You’re welcome. ☺️
What an awesome collaboration. Love the opportunity to learn more ways to preserve. The natural cleaner is fantastic!
Thank you!!!
Great ideas for new and 'clean' cleaning products. Thank you for sharing this with us all!
PS 70 lemons? Wow, that is a lot of peeling! Blessings to you!
Angela, thank you so much for all the ideas to use lemon. zest. I had not thought of all those uses, only cooking and baking with it. Using it as a cleanser is a WONDERFUL idea, and you are left with a marvelous, fresh scent!
I love that scent, too! It's so bright and refreshing.
I enjoy the idea of freeze-drying the zest! Beigh able to use it later in baking, teas, and making custards is great. Being able to use some in cleaning, too, is phenominal! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe of what you use. I've made citrus vinegar for cleaning for so long, but sometimes would struggle when scouring was needed so I will try your recipe for sure!
i love lemons, everything about them! thank you for sharing your scouring powder recipe.
Great video! Great recipe for a cleaner. Hope all is going well and you have a complete recovery in your health.
I love that you make your own cleaner, and lemon scent is a major bonus in my book. Thanks for sharing ways to make this and use it.
You’re welcome!
Wow girl this is fabulous!!!!😊
Thanks! You should smell my kitchen!
Thank you for sharing this and for being part of this collaboration . It’s going to be great .
It sure is. Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing your recipe. Love the lemon smell while cleaning around the house. We love lemon pies too.
What a great start to February!! Thank you for sharing!
I'm so glad y'all are doing this collaboration!
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing a natural cleaning product that we all use. I don't have a citrus tree but may be in the future.
Right there with you, fellow Tree Hugger! 🤗🌳 Since the mid-'90s, my main ingredients for various cleaning products have been vinegar, baking soda, citric acid and essential oils, along with the Borax and washing soda. This recipe looks terrific! 🍋🥳🍋 So wonderful to have your own citrus trees! I moved away from mine and still miss them. 😢 And yes, I would consider 20 drops to be a minimum for that size of batch, lol. Just got my medium Harvest Right in December and I have not freeze dried zest yet. I do have some air-dried (I'm in a dry climate) that I need to use up and this will be perfect for that. Really looking forward to Freeze Dried February this year. Thanks so much! 😄👍💖
Oh I'm so excited for this collaboration. ❤❤❤
Me, too! It always gets me to freeze dry more than usual.
Freeze Drying is so amazing, I dehydrate but Freeze Dried rocks! Thanks for the recipe on the cleaner!
Always great info!!! You are a great teacher!!! INSPIRATION and INFORMATION!!!! THANK U
Awww, thank you! 🥰
I wish I had smellevision! I love that you use all the parts of the lemon so that nothing goes to waste.
What a great way to use lemon zest! Thank you
Thanks for a great cleaner! I really loved the pictures of your Meyer lemon trees, especially since we had over 9 inches of snow 2 weeks ago!
Great way to use what you have, and a less toxic product to boot.
Yes! No waste and no overwhelming chemicals.
I love that you named your freeze dryer. Tilly is a good name and you take good care of her. Thank you for sharing how to freeze try the lemons and zest, I learned alot.
Thank you! When you get a Harvest Right, one of the first things they suggest is naming your machine. Ours is named after one of my great-grandmothers. I actually got to meet and spend time with her when I was a little girl. She was so wonderful!
Meyer lemons are the best! I, too, make my own homemade multi purpose cleaner. This recipe is new to me. Thanks for another great idea.
Wow, you are so lucky to have lemon trees ! I love the cleaner and did you know that the lid from store bought Parmesan cheese fits perfectly on a pint jar. It makes a great (grate) shaker jar !! 😊
Thank you for sharing.. I have not thought of using freeze dried lemon powder for cleaning.. I love that idea.
Love the lemon zest idea. So great. Can’t wait to watch all the videos.
Very much going to try all of them! Would also make awesome cake decorations I think!😊 LOVE ❤️ the non chemical cleaner so much safer for my Furbabies!!
I don't own a freeze dryer yet, but I'm really excited about all the different ways it can be used beyond just preserving food!
Great idea for healthy cleaning! Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome! My whole house smells like lemons! 🍋
Good tip. I love citrus scents.
I can get down with that. Not wasting things and using what the good Lord gave us. Thank you so much!
I wish I could grow citrus like that! So pretty!!
Thank you for this. I’ve been trying to go more natural. Love this.
That sounds like a great cleaning recipe, Thank you for sharing - I am excited to try it. I hope you have some other videos showing what else you do with the rest of your lemons, juice and zest. I have a loaded meyer tree and looking for more ideas.
How great would it be to have a Meyer lemon tree!! So jelly. Thank you for your recipes.
This is such perfect timing for me, I’m going to get rid of all the chemicals in my cabinet and use this recipe. Awesome, thank you 😊.
Thank you for sharing, I have not tried to making my own cleaning products yet. I also have a meyer lemon tree. I normally harvest about 211-276 Meyer lemons. I will 1st zest, then juice then
freeze . I keep for long term storage in a vacuum sealed bags., I've made preserved lemons, lemon curd, lemon ginger marmalade ,cakes, lemon pies. Thanks again
From Canuary right into freeze dry February I LOVE it!! This is my first Freeze dry Feb. I love seeing new ideas and recipes for using mine! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!🥰
Welcome to the club! Freeze drying is a great way to make the most of the season! I still have over 150 lemons on that tree. It’s raining today and tomorrow, so I’ll let you guess what I’ll be doing, lol!
I’m excited about this collaboration! I haven’t thought about using freeze dried lemon peels for cleaners. Thank you for sharing
It is a great way to use up all that citrus we all have in the freezer!
Hi Michelle!! It's so nice to see you doing this collaboration again. What a fantastic cleaner!!!! I could almost smell it through the computer. I love the idea. I don't have a freeze dryer - yet. But hoping for one very soon. And like you said, you don't have to have one to enjoy the videos - or learn :)
Mitzi, good to hear from you! Oh, it smells divine! I have been thinking that I should zest for food and chop the zested shells for cleaning. That extends my annual homemade lemon-pepper supply, too, lol!
@@BigValleyLiving don't fix what isn't broken 🤗. Maybe zest a little extra to try it with food before stockpiling. 🤗🤗🤗
Wow! This is great information on how to connect with the different platforms so we can get all we can out of this collab. Thank you too for teaching us about your cleaner. I have all the ingredients, I think I'll go make some. 😊
Thank you for sharing. I love the smell of lemon cleaners.
You’re welcome. I am a lemon-o-holic! Between eating them (yes, like other people eat oranges) and making as much around the house smell like lemon…I can’t get enough.
Wow! I didn't see that coming, what a great idea. I'm trying to get rid of all of the toxic things in my house as well. I'm starting seeds for a big garden this year so that I don't have to worry about pesticides and herbicides in my food. Great video thank you!
Have been looking forward to this month. Always so many great ideas to try.
Thank you for all the info. Looking forward to trying new things for freeze drying.Just learning.
So much information! I will be watching this again. Thank you very much!
Thanks!
I'm going to try this cleaner. I love lemon and orange cleaners. Thank you for sharing.
Great information! Thank you for sharing
Wow, Michelle, this was wonderful information! We are saving for a freeze dryer, so I will definitely use this idea when we are set up. In the meantime, I am going to try to dehydrate lemon zest and make my own cleaner. Thanks so much!
This is a freeze dryer project I’d never thought of! Thanks for sharing!
It's a great way to use up those citrus peels and make your house smell amazing!
I love using and saving all my food
Good day, what an amazing video! You explained everything exceptionally well & about the collab this month.
With my stage 3 cancer, I have removed alot of store bought and processed foods from my life. I do pressure can more than ever in addition to having a location to grow more natural heirloom foods.
I have recently started dehydrating foods. My ultimate goal is to get a harvest right freeze dryer. I found they do offer a layaway program.
I do not buy traditional store bought cleaners. I have baking soda & white distilled vinegar that I use regularly, but yours is so much better. I enjoy the aroma of lemon in addition to eating lemons & juicing. Thank you so much for sharing the valuable cleaning recipe. I wish you absolutely the best on your journey. Have a Blessed Day ✌️
Thank you for your kind words! Cancer is a stinker, but I feel like the silver lining is the heightened awareness of things around us and how we can share better practices either others. I encourage you to go to Harvest Right every single month, because they give a machine away every month. You never know - you might be “the one!” Keep fighting the good fight. I’m getting ready for round five of chemo, so my cleaner is being heavily used right now, while I still have energy. 🥰
I love Meyer Lemons❤. I can’t wait to get my Harvest Right!!! Bought dehydrated citrus and paid a ridiculous price. I have Lupus Neuritis and CKD with be trying a lot of things. Thank you again. Just loved your presentation ❤
❤What a GREAT intro video! You really explained the collaboration so well, and wow, what a GREAT education on the Meyer Lemon! 72😮 Bet your hands were stiff, but smelled lovely! Thanks for sharing your why… how you found Tilly’s home, and what you do with your citrus… even the parts that some might throw away!😊 Who knew that using a freeze dryer could save you money on cleaning supplies! 💰
I really appreciate your cleaner recipe. Such a wonderful idea to use natural ingredients as a cleaner. Now I have another use for my lemons!
Yes!!! My goal is to use every last bit of these lemons. The scent in our home is amazing, too!
Thank you, I am always looking for a natural cleaner.
What a great advice about putting "Tilly in your shop/garage area. Thank you for explaining what you do with all of your myer lemons. I'm excited to try out your cleaning products recipe.
I hope you like it!
Wow!! So much great information thank you for sharing.
What a great way to use the most of your produce!
Thank you!
Just so happen to have a bag of lemons and a bag of oranges ..was wondering what I should do..thank you so very much for your ideas!
Ohh....lemon, my personal favorite scent in the whole world! I'm definitely making this. Might have to ask my neighbor to freeze dry lemon zest as I do not currently own a freeze dryer. Thank you for sharing this recipe!
This was a great video! So excited to try this for cleaning and have it be all natural! Thankyou!
WOW that sounds like a great way to utilize a lemon. I didn't know you could use it in so many ways. Thank you for sharing and educating.
You’re very welcome!
I love this idea. Can't wait to try it out! Thank you.
Love the receipt for cleaner! I need a March trip to Arizona to get fresh lemons!
I’ve always wanted to try making cleaning products. This is inspiration to try it!
This video was great I slice my whole lemons 1/8 thick remove the seeds and lay them one layer thick when freeze drying. Then dry I store them in vaccum sealed jars and use them each time i drink hot tea or lemon water every day. They are as wonderful as fresh ones and I powder some and use while baking cakes ,scones and cookies. They are wonderful!
Such a wonderful idea about the lemons. I tried to grow lemons in 6B but it didn't work out. Although I don't have a freeze dryer, I love watching the things that can be done. Thank you.
Yuuummmyyy! Wish i had ‘em just growing outside! Love ideas for Freeze Drying…thx
Yes! We have talked about the different places we would like to live, but our citrus trees always keep us anchored firmly in the Big Valley.
Clicks all the boxes....cheap, non-toxic and smells good. Thanks.
You’re welcome! It’s one of my favorites.
I am hoping to learn a lot about using freeze dryers this month. I love the cleaner that you made.
Thanks! I didn’t show how to use my machine, because I figured at least 5 or 10 others will go into details.
I love the smell of lemon cleaners! Thanks for sharing your recipe for a non-toxic cleaner! I've been watching videos about freeze drying foods, herbs, flowers, candies for years - I almost put one on lay-away last year, but chickened out because I have no idea where I'd put it. Maybe this is the year!
It is so worth it, but you’re right - the space is the challenge! It’s one of the reasons we got the medium. We knew it would likely move until we made up our minds. The large and extra large models need special circuits.
WOW I never thought you could make your own powdered cleanser. I think I need to get another notebook for notes!
I have not tried freeze drying citrus yet. I am mostly interested in the zest. I would love the freeze dried lemon and orange zest on my shelf.
I'm going to try the cleaning recipe! I have made my own laundry detergent ! Try ye get away from the chemicals!!!
Wow! Lemon zest is really amazing but 72 lemons!! 🤣🤣😜😜🙈🙈🙈worth it all in the end!!❤thank you! I enjoyed your video
Thanks! I have a lot more to go…looking at different graters for cleaning options, for sure! Only the edible products need to be THAT clean.
I need to get my hands on some meyer lemon seeds. I'm pretty sure they will grow in my climate. Thank you for the video.
This is wonderful! I also have sensitive skin. Commercial lemon-based cleaners are so expensive. Great information about using freeze-dried produce in homemade cleaners.
You are so welcome!
I am new to freeze drying. I'm considering purchasing a freeze dryer and am getting excited about how to use freeze dried produce. 72 lemons? That's a lot of zesting! I can't wait to get my own Tilly!
Yay! I can’t wait for you to get your own Tilly, too! I pick them in bowls of 24 so it doesn’t seem overwhelming. Mentally, it is a great strategy for me!
I have a Harvest Right medium pro freeze dryer that was delivered in June. I haven't used it as much as I thought I would. I'm hoping that this collaboration will give me ideas on things to freeze dry. So far I've done a lot of ground beef, rotisserie chicken and turkey.
Thank you so much for your recipe on a great cleaning product that doesn't contain a bunch of harmful chemicals. Last thing anybody wants is to come home to a house after working all day and smell toxic fumes from something like bleach throughout the entire house.
I'm so jealous of the lemon tree--but I don't think I can grow one in Southern Indiana. LOL Love the cleaner idea. I have been using my citrus peels and putting them in vinegar too. Thank you so much for this.
I have recently started using lemon in this way. It smells wonderful! Thank you for the video!
Yes! Glad to hear it. I applied some powder to my shower after taking a shower one afternoon, then didn’t shower for a day. When I went to clean up the powder (about 36 hours later) my 60+ year old white grout looked brand new! I just know it was the lemons!
I wish we could grow citrus here in New Mexico. I just love citrus. I use a lot of Dyi cleaners as you can adjust the amounts
I love Lemons and you showed us how to do several things with you Lemons. Waste not want not. Thank you
I love them, too! And you’re right: Waste not, want not!
I'm so excited for this collab! I just got my FD in Dec ❤️
Oh, you are in for a lot of fun this month. Enjoy, and don’t forget leftovers. I overlooked those for two years, and now I don’t thrown nearly as much food away.
@@BigValleyLiving that's a huge reason why I got one, leftovers and preserving my garden harvest!
Thank you! I have been trying to use only natural cleaners for many years now. I have the basic window cleaner and cleaner spray, but I will be trying this recipe for cleaning the sinks and tub with.
You’re going to love it. I’m glad to see there are others looking for less toxic ways to clean.
Thanks you so much for sharing your cleaning powder recipe. I have eczema on both hands and any type of store bought cleanser causes a flare. Hope this proves a good substitute for me. This is the first year I’ve heard of freeze drying February and am looking forward to watching. BTW you are such a good communicator - your voice is easy to listen to and I will look forward to watching more of your YT videos.
You are so kind! I hope this works for you. My hands break out from the standard dishwashing liquids, gasoline, diesel, you name it. The common theme is that the commercial preparations are filled with by-products. Thank you for the compliment about my voice. I’m coming up on my 30th wedding anniversary to my husband, and he would disagree with you sometimes, haha!
Wow that cleaner is so easy to make
It’s very easy, and each of the items has various uses for other household tasks. I just love it!
Like the realism info you provided on owning a freeze dryer. Interesting cleaning mix, I thought people just used the lemon juice & vinegar to clean.
I don't have a Facebook, so I'll miss the Facebook page information.. but these videos are very informative 👌.
Great idea! I received a ton of citrus in my last azure haul so I’ve been freeze drying the zest. Can’t wait to try your recipe!
It is a great way to use up the abundance of citrus. This recipe will help you turn those extra peels into something useful! Enjoy!
Wow, this is great. I’m going to make some for my home thank you for sharing
Awesome! 😎 I hope you love that fresh scent!
Good to know I can upgrade to 5 trays if I want.
You sure can! There is less headspace, but a lot of people don’t put food over the top of the trays, so it probably won’t be a big deal.
