I stumbled on your channel. When you said "we are going to gbukashia ya now"😂😂that cracked me up. In fact that made me subscribe. I will try out the soup. Thanks 🙏🙏
Blending will turn it into a puree. I'm not sure the texture will be nice.. maybe a good processor can be better.. Though I haven't tried using any of these
Potash is a kind of salt that contains potassium. It looks like clay. It can be used to thicken red oil when preparing African salad. Yoruba(s)call it Kaun, Igbo(s)call it Akawu.. Hausa(s) call it Kanwa. There's another one that behaves like it and it's more healthy..NGU, It's gotten from burnt palm fronts soaked in water.
If you don't like potash you can use Ngu(burnt palm fronts soaked in water). It's more healthy. But you can't skip that part because you must Blanch the vegetable first
Alternatively, you can make vegetable soup with only water leaf. E SHOCK YOU? Below is the link to watch how I made vegetable soup with just water leaf. ua-cam.com/video/EsT4JYAZrsc/v-deo.html. My native soup....kudos. But crayfish doesn’t sit well in egburegbu,it gives it a very slimy texture! Enough stock fish and roughly blended sungu does the magic
That's when the intake is high.. I also mentioned in the description box that NGU is better.. That's burnt palm fronts.. Thank you for your contribution and please subscribe to my channel.
How can you be blanching vege tables Ugu .killing the nutrients .veg that doesn't need heat more than 5 minutes . It's chaff you are using to cook . Potash is not healthy

I am not from Ebonyi but I I liked it from the first time I tasted it. I have many more healthy recipes on this channel. About the potash used, you can use Ngu.. Hello I Ike this soup, is it possible to boil the vegetable until is soft, that's if I don't eat potash
Yes just that it won't retain the green color of the leave
The leafs sorry

What is potash?
Potash is a kind of salt that contains potassium. It looks like clay. It can be used to thicken red oil when preparing African salad.
Yoruba(s)call it Kaun, Igbo(s)call it Akawu.. Hausa(s) call it Kanwa.
There's another one that behaves like it and it's more healthy..NGU, It's gotten from burnt palm fronts soaked in water.
What is potash please
It's a kind of salt that is mined from the ground or manufactured in the Lab that contains potassium that can dissolve in water..
I wish I can share the picture here
When did you put the potassium?
To soften the vegetable
I added potash to the water I used to blanch the vegetable..
Is the potash, optional?
If you don't like potash you can use Ngu(burnt palm fronts soaked in water). It's more healthy.
But you can't skip that part because you must Blanch the vegetable first
@@favouritechefella Okay, I see. So without blanching the veggies, my egburuegbu will not gbuola the egbu.
You can also use salt
@@annedaisy2479 Fantastic
@@annedaisy2479 will salt make the leaves soft?
Can the Ugu be used without potash? I'm scared the potash might purge me.
Ok. The essence of the potash is to soften the Ugu and also retain the green color. So if u have another way of achieving that ,it's fine
What if I pound the vegetables?
I haven't given it a try.. But you might end up seeing some ide leaves in your pot after cooking.. Hitting with knife will give the best result
What of the potash? Do you was off? Can kids eat it?
You don't wash off.. of course kids can eat it
Did you wash the vegetables after cutting it in the potash water? You didn’t say
No no.. I washed before boiling it.. after boiling it, I cut straight..
Can I use blender in place of chopping board?
Well done babe 👍❤️
Nooo
If you have food processor it will do the job perfectly 🥰
Please don't use blender.. Do it locally because it's local dish 😂
💋
❤️❤️❣️

It originates from Nkporo and you dot add crayfish to it because it darkens the vegetables.
Ooh! I didn't know.. thank you for the correction 😊
Is potash healthy?
It's not bad when consumed in moderate amount. If you check the description box you will see I mentioned that Ngu (burnt Palm front) is healthier
This is stew !
