Yes!!! Peruvian accents are some of the easiest to identify but hardest to imitate.

As a Peruvian who doesn't get recognized as one because I don't have the accent, it's impossible for me to imitate it but as soon as someone in another country speaks with it, I can pinpoint them as Peruvian. I have a more Lima accent, but not quite. If people recognize me as Peruvian, they only do because of my vocabulary. Like calato, bacán, pucha, palta, etc.

As a Puerto Rican, nothing infuriates me more than the weird thing we do with the "R", we make it sound like we're coughing up a lung full of phlegm. It sounds less like "erre" and more like "eghje".

That's because people from France came to live in PR a long time ago. We also had a lot of people from Corcega. Look up Real Cedula Española.

Whilst learning Spanish and speaking with ‘hispanohablantes’(my new favourite word!) they have said the way I speak has a mainly Spanish twang with Puerto Rican sprinkled in there although due to the lack of Spain Spanish content out there, I’m beginning to lose the ‘th’ sound on my C’s S’ and Z’s, and getting a more Colombian (I’m forever correcting friends and family on the important topic of Colombia vs ‘columbia’ there’s only one correct way!) Mexican vibe to the way I speak which isn’t a bad thing at all! Just a shame about the time zones and distance from the UK to Latin America for communication purposes.
I’m forever correcting friends and family on the important topic of Colombia vs ‘columbia’ there’s only one correct way!

    • @ConvoSpeak
      @ConvoSpeak  3 роки тому

Yeah the time zone makes things hard. Are there any latin Americans Near you? Thank you for protecting the national pride of Colombia by correcting the name lol. And it is awesome to hear about the evolution of your accent. Very interesting! I wonder what would happen to my English if I spent time in the UK?

Only one Venezuelan which I know of (she does classes which I may take up!)
It depends where you head to, somewhere like Manchester, Newcastle or Birmingham and you pick up some little bits and bobs of their accent. Further south the accent is more ‘neutral’
I have a friend from Newcastle and after a couple of cervezitas, he becomes very difficult to understand!!

Yirar proviene del lunfardo y no es lo mismo que girar.. por eso suena como "shirar" y no girar.
Y lo de corashe es cosa de la cantante, es el estilo de ella, en Argentina se dice corage como suena.

@Martin Salazar i mean world wide bro
worldwide mexican spanish is the most heard of... even ignorant people ask “are you speaking Mexican” referring to spanish
every latino is a mexican to ignorant people just by speaking spanish
obviously argentina spanish is the most popular in argentina just like mexican spanish is most popular in mexico
if you say argentina spanish is most popular in mexico you wont need a lawyer... you’ll need a bodybag

@@Infernalcx when Americans call Latinos Mexicans they’re being racist because of the whole illegal immigration division between political parties
Also Mexico borders the US so Mexico was closer to Hollywood when it first originated and had an upper hand in media representation
It’s like saying Puerto Ricans in NY. New Yorkers refer to Latinos as Puerto Ricans. That’s why in most hip hop song from the east cost (hip hop was born in NY) you’ll hear them say “black people, white people, Puerto Rico” [Let Me Clear My Throat by Farman Scoop] it’s all about region and immigration.
NOTHING to do with Mexico being superior in language or culture lol

In Argentine Spanish we never change "g" for "sh". As a native speaker, the two examples mentioned here are the only ones that come to mind. Fito Páez uses "g(sh)ira", a word taken from Argentine slang ("lunfardo"). Nathy Peluso uses it for different reasons, mostly based on her Spanish (from Spain) influence, I believe.

  • @MericanMade24

Puerto Rico had a huge influx of French colonists from Haiti during the revolution on Hispaniola. Also a large amount of French came over from the United States after the Louisiana purchase. A bunch more came over during the Cedula De Gracias which offered Europeans free lands on the island if they become loyal to the Spanish crown. All these factors came into play on the Puerto Rican R….now you know.
