@yveltal1284 right, but faith with no works shows a heart of ungratefulness. It's not about salvation. It's about the love that leads to the salvation, and there are no amounts of works that can compare to the love given. But ungrateful people tend not to work, period. If you are grateful for being saved, and it's true love, you'll do whatever Jesus tells you to do, and gladly. It becomes a labor of love every day, and you're excited to be a part of the building. It's the difference between a healthy, mature marriage and an unhealthy, selfish marriage. But.....you do you 😆 😇💗

It's a decent talk but the doctrine of LDS is still that man is to be exalted based on their works. I understand LDS view of salvation is through Christ alone. But please consider that the salvation described in the Bible is to be in the presence of God and that includes God the Father. Jesus sits down at the right hand of the father. And father, son and holy spirit are the one true God. So any religion that tells him that there is something you can do to be good enough to be exalted to God's presence is a doctrine contradicting the Bible - a combination of 66 books that we have had significant evidence for long before the BOM or any of the D&Cs that outline about the levels of heaven. I know it would be so hard to leave the culture of LDS and may even leave your family feeling betrayed. But I urge you to find the truth worth. Let none of us be satisfied with truth that continues to change with 'modem prophets' and new 'revelation'. God reveals himself to his people but his truth doesn't change. The way made for us from the beginning to get back to him hasn't changed and Jesus fulfilled it and revealed it completely to us through the NT

The video and many Christians discard the message on “works” and as a result miss a valuable lesson Jesus Christ has given us.
Take the example of the commandment to love one another - to keep that commandment is “works.” Loving others is “works.” It’s not that “works” allows you to become the “Savior” of yourself and Christ becomes null and void but it is through Christ we do the “works” - “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” James 2:24
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. Christ is the way and he has taught us that our “works” is to love one another.
And as Matthew 7 says, “ye shall know them by their fruit,” which goes back to James, “I will shew thee my faith by my works.”

We don’t teach works based salvation. But let’s talk about 2 Nephi 25:23, it’s the Protestants’ favorite Book of Mormon verse, yet none of them bother to learn what it means. In fact you may not even know that people only quote half of the verse. The whole verse says:
“For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.”
There are many ways to properly understand this verse, but salvation by works is not one of them. First, what “all we can do” means is laid out earlier in the verse when it says “believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God.” That is all we can possibly do. In fact, this idea of being saved by grace after being reconciled to God is actually harkening back to earlier in 2nd Nephi where that exact idea is first laid out:
    2 Nephi 10:24
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, *reconcile* yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, *after* ye are reconciled unto God, that it is *only* in and through the *grace* of God that ye are saved.”
This is further confirmed by Alma 24:11
“And now behold, my brethren, since it has been all that we could do (as we were the most lost of all mankind) to repent of all our sins and the many murders which we have committed, and to get God to take them away from our hearts, for it was all we could do to repent sufficiently before God that he would take away our stain”
And even then, the word ‘after’ is not to be read as ‘following’ but as ‘excluding’ so that it reads,
“it is *still* by grace that we are saved *even* after all we can do.”
    Or,
“it is by grace that we are saved after all is said and done.”
In much the same way, we are made *after* the image of God; the workmanship of Christ: built to go *after* good works (Gen. 1:26-27, Eph. 2:10).
Putting the verse back in context gives further support to the idea that this is talking about salvation by grace alone. When you look at the other verses surrounding 25:23, it couldn’t be more clear. For example:
Two verses down in 2 Nephi 25:25-26
“25 For, for this end was the law given; wherefore the law hath become dead unto us, and we are made alive in Christ because of our faith; yet we keep the law because of the commandments.
26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.”
The very next page in 2 Nephi 26:24-28
“24 He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation.
25 Behold, doth he cry unto any, saying: Depart from me? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; but he saith: Come unto me all ye ends of the earth, buy milk and honey, without money and without price.
26 Behold, hath he commanded any that they should depart out of the synagogues, or out of the houses of worship? Behold, I say unto you, Nay.
27 Hath he commanded any that they should not partake of his salvation? Behold I say unto you, Nay; but he hath given it free for all men; and he hath commanded his people that they should persuade all men to repentance.
28 Behold, hath the Lord commanded any that they should not partake of his goodness? Behold I say unto you, Nay; but all men are privileged the one like unto the other, and none are forbidden.”
As you can see, the idea that this a works based salvation falls on its face.

Joseph smith himself went against God's commands, rebelled against the government, committed polygamy, died in a shootout with the police. His actions show he was not a man God. His fruit is clear for all to see.

Protestants never quote the verse 10 in Ephesians chapter 2: 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. So if you are truly saved, you will have good works! James 2:24 states: Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. So faith without works is dead! Your analogy would work better if the fireman said, "I can save you. However I will only save you if you cook me a meal." Then the fireman would actually be acting like Christ.
Salvation is available to everyone by grace through the faith of Jesus.
But salvation is only received by those who will receive it by following Christ and submitting to His will for the rest of their lives.
I don't cook Christ your proverbial meal out of gratitude alone. Though I am grateful. I do it because that is the arrangement we agreed to. If I don't cook the meal, that will be proof that I was never saved. And he will put me back in the fire. It will be proof that I never knew him. (Hebrews 6: 4-6)

I never understood the book of Mormon because in one of his passages They acknowledge that Jesus did start a church, but then it got corrupted and failed, but if that were true, that means Jesus is a liar because he said Peter, you are rocking on this rock I’ll build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail. But if the church failed, then that means hell prevailed. And a very important piece that he kind of left out we are not saved by faith alone. The Bible actually says we are not saved by faith alone. It’s very easy to make that assumption, but we are not saved by faith alone.

    MORMON’S IMPOSSIBLE GOSPEL
    Moroni 10:32
“IF you deny yourselves of ALL ungodliness… THEN is his grace sufficient for you.”
Did you notice the IF / THEN statement?
    That’s a conditional statement.
So - how much ungodliness do you need to get rid of? Some? Most of? 60%?
Moroni 10:32 states you need to deny “ALL” ungodliness.
What are you if you get rid of ALL ungodliness?
    Perfect.
Now, we know it’s impossible to be perfect without grace - and yet, according to this Mormon scripture grace doesn’t start until AFTER you are perfect.
This means grace is unattainable for Mormons.
    -
The Book of Mormon has other passages which support this:
    2 Nephi 25:23
“We are saved by grace, AFTER all we can do.”
When do you get the grace?
Have you done all that you can do?
Have you ever had 1 day in your whole life where you did all you could do?
You couldn’t have prayed another minute?
So - can anyone ever be saved???
    -
Mormon scripture is consistent about this:
    Alma 11:37
“And I say unto you again, that he cannot save them in their sins. For I cannot deny his word, and ye have said no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of heaven. Therefore how can you be saved except you enter the kingdom of heaven?
Therefore you cannot be saved in your sins.”
That’s like saying you’ve got to get out of the water before I’m going to save you from drowning.
    The Christian Jesus isn’t a swimming coach - He’s a lifeguard.
If they say, “it just means do your best” - no:
    First Nephi 3:7
“And it came to pass that I nee-phi said unto my father , “I will go and do the things which the Lord has commanded. For I know that the Lord giveth no commandment unto the children of men save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commanded them.””
Is it possible for the Mormon god to give you a command you can’t keep?
Did he tell you to deny yourself of ALL ungodliness?
Did he tell you to do all you can do?
Did he tell you you can’t be saved in your sins?
If they say, I’m doing the best I can - then ask - does it say Do the best you can?
So - can anyone be saved?
Read the whole chapter of Alma 34.
Which says you have to have repented of ALL sin before you die, otherwise you will be sealed to Satan.
    AND:
    a reminder:
    Moroni 10:32
“IF you deny yourselves of ALL ungodliness… THEN is his grace sufficient for you.”
    This is confirmed by:
    Doctrines and Covenants 82:7
“And now, verily I say unto you, I, the Lord, will not lay any sin to your charge; go your ways and sin no more; BUT UNTO THAT SOUL WHO SINNETH SHALL THE FORMER SINS RETURN, saith the Lord your God.”
    Doctrines and Covenants 82:9-10
“I give unto you directions how you may act before me, that it may turn to you for your salvation. I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; BUT WHEN YE DO NOT WHAT I SAY, YE HAVE NO PROMISE.“
Under those conditions - who can be saved???
    Also:
"Trying is not sufficient. Nor is repentance complete when one merely tries to abandon sin,"
Spencer Kimball 12th President and PROPHET of the LDS Church, The Miracle of Forgiveness, p150
The book just quoted, ‘THE MIRACLE OF FORGIVENESS,’ by Spencer Kimball (12th President and PROPHET of the LDS Church) is approved and recommended by multiple LDS leaders:
Ezra Taft Benson (13th President and PROPHET of the LDS Church) urged all church members "to read and reread President Spencer Kimball's book."
    (from ‘In His Steps’ 1988).
LDS Church apostle Richard G. Scott called ‘The Miracle of Forgiveness’ a "masterly work" (‘Peace of Conscience and Peace of Mind, 2004) and “a superb guide.” (Finding Forgiveness, 1995).

But we show our faith BY our works, as is also biblically consistent. We could do a million works and it would not superceed our need for Jesus Christ. However, we also are in full pursuit to follow him in and obey him by bearing fruit. Please do not misunderstand the doctrine we preach by continuing to burn straw-men. We echo Paul, you just have a pre-conceived notion of what you think we believe. All the best, but you are pushing the same old talking point that does not hold water. You are cherry picking and looking for what you want to see rather than what is actually there.

This cotton candy Christianity is a dangerous lie.
We are saved by grace IF we accept his gift. We accept the gift of His sacrifice through our obedience to him. We use our faith in His promise to carry out the good works produced from the Love he fills us with.
We are judged by our works.
We are justified by our faith.
We can be saved because of His atonement.
We have the ability to be obedient because of His grace. But if our works are not consistent with his requirements there is no sacrifice for us.
      Hebrews 10:
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

this is the oena7for wilfully sinning, not loss of Salvation
but regardless Hebrews 10 teaches that there's punishment for trying to make an animal sacrifice for atonement after wilfully sinning
animal sacrifices in the Old Testament were for blotting out sins, but now that we have Jesus, the Ultimate Sacrifice, we no longer need to do animal sacrifices
but if we go back to those animal sacrifices, after the knowledge of Christ and his actions, we will face harsh punishment, because it's directly saying that Jesus' sacrifice was insufficient

You are saying that is should read "For if we offer animal sacrifice willfully for our sins, after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins." ?
I agree with you that the chapter is showing how animal sacrifice was a shadow pointing to Christs sacrifice. And illustrating how the blood of animals can never take away sins.
The chapter transitions from explaining the old law vs. the new covenant. 14-18: For by one offering he hath perfected for ever THEM THAT ARE SANCTIFIED. (there are those that are not sanctified. Christs atonement can save everyone, but it does not save Everyone) Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days (after the days of animal sacrifice) saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts and in their minds will I write them. And their sins and iniquities I will remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
The next verses show the contrast from the old into the new. The verses discuss how to act/think under the new law/covenant.
To Allow Christs blood to give you confidence that you have been forgiven and not to let your conscience dwell on your old sinful ways.
To hold on to our faith strictly.
To provoke each other to good works.
To assemble ourselves together exhorting one another.
For if we sin willfully (What ever sins and consequences He saved us from with Christ's blood) after we have been given the law in our hearts and in our minds through the power of the Holy Ghost, Christ's sacrifice for our sins has no meaning for us.
If you died under Moses' law with out mercy under 2-3 witnesses: How much sorer punishment suppose ye shall he be thought worthy who hath trodden under foot The Son of God.
Why would he judge us if there is no crime committed? It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
If he, without conditions, saves every person on this earth while they willfully continue in sin, why is there a hell?
For ye have need of patience, that, AFTER ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
If any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

I mean yes, you're right... the Book of Mormon is heretical. However there are a number of verses in the New Testament that discuss the importance of pursuing righteousness and also the consequences of not. So that verse in the book of mormon isn't necessarily contradicting the Bible because we ARE saved by grace, but if we're not living in the light, then the truth is not in us.
1 John prime example "But IF we walk in the light... the blood of Jesus purifies us from all our sin."
If, then statements. That mormon verse shares a similar thought process.

Jonah 3:10 And God *saw their works*, that they *turned from their evil way* ; and *God repented* of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

Secondly all Christian’s ignore the baptism of Jesus Christ which shows a clear distinction between the Father The Son(Jesus Christ) the holy sprit all of them together make the god head. Not only that but if gif was spirit before Christ then we should be spirts because we are in the image of god meaning his looks like us and we look like him. Then also explain why Christ say he has other sheep and “I” referring to Christ will bring them unto this fold that means that god has other people he needs to preach to besides the meditarnian where Christ taught in the Bible. come on what things mean today is not what things meant during JS time if you want the most accurate understanding of the translation you need to go to the time he lived

The Bible is saying to not be prideful in your righteousness or because you are redeemed through God because it wasn’t something you earned yourself but a gift from God. • @Josh.Proctor
      @Josh.Proctor 3 місяці тому +1

In the Bible, God (through Jesus and His disciples) gives us the defining features and subsequently the authority, as believing Christians, to determine His word from not-His word. To determine His prophets from not-His prophets. True teachers of the faith from not true teachers. As such, we have every right to point out false teaching where it exists. Mormons are Christian in name only, simply because they believe in a person called "Jesus Christ" which is an idolized version of Jesus created by Joseph Smith and is not the biblical Jesus. You're as much "Christian" as Muslims are "Christian". As a side note, an educated Christian would know that no one is good, because God (through the Bible) says that no one is good. This is why repentance is needed in the first place. If you're a good person, you have no need to repent, and thus no need of Jesus's sacrifice on the cross. But Jesus made it clear that only one being is truly good by nature. God.
Proverbs 30 says that every word of God proves true. And yet so much of the BoM has been shown to have anachronisms, or entirely manufactured events that have zero evidence to support them. There are no non-Mormon historians that believe Jews existed at any time in the early Americas. Why? Because of complete lack of evidence. But there are lots of non-Christian historians that consider much of the rest of the Bible to be a historical telling of events, even if they don't believe in the miracles of Jesus. Why? Because plenty of evidence.
Matthew 7 and 24, Jeremiah 14 and 23, about discerning false prophets.
1 Timothy 6 about discerning false teachers.
1 John 4 about "believe not every spirit, but test that they are from God."
1 John 3 tells us that not every person is a child of God, contrary to what Mormons believe.
Matthew 7 shows us that not everyone who does good works in the name of God or Jesus are from Him. "Depart from me, I never knew you."
Romans 3 reminds us that we're all sinners, none is good. All have fallen short of the glory of God.
Paul in several of his epistles, despite being a Christian, still considered himself a lowly sinner undeserving of salvation, fighting with sin and wanting to do good, but stuck doing evil, and all despite being handpicked by Jesus for the ministry. Most Christians who know their theology would never consider themselves good. Paul being among the best theologians in history is an example of this.

Well to be clear yes, we are saved by grace, but what does that mean exactly? Simply put we have done nothing to deserve this gift of God which we see in scripture is called Salvation (1 Peter 1:8-9), but then we come to an impasse in the book of Romans 6:1-14 which right after the speech is given that we are saved by grace and not by our own works which in itself means that no matter how much money we give to the poor, how much we love our neighbors through acts of kindness, or how devotedly we overserve the Old Covenant Law that states we must sacrifice animals to be forgiven of our sins can we achieve salvation, rather we are instructed to understand that we are living a "New Life" after being baptized because through that ceremony we can consider ourselves dead in our former way of living meaning giving into out human desires to commit what is contrary and evil in the eyes of God. Jesus Himself, who is God, made human in every way (Philippians 2:6) taught us how to achieve salvation. He is after all the very foundation of our Faith as Christians as well as the Apostles (Ephesians 2:19-22) because they were put in charge by Jesus to spread His teaching throughout the lands (Matthew 28:19-20). We see that in Ephesians 2:1-10 The apostle is speaking of two district acts of "works." One, representing what we do as a human community and how orderly we can behave through the observance of commandments 5-10 which are summed up like this Mark12:33 Love your neighbor as yourself, however more is stated in that verse which is to Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, Soul, and strength. Well how do we do that?? Remember that there are two different types of works, the works we show each other and the works we show God which can only be fulfilled through commandments 1-4. Jesus died on the cross once and for all so that those who draw nearer to Him may have access to the His "Grace." That does not mean someone who is halfway across the world knowing nothing of the sacrifice of Jesus or even our immediate neighbor who continues to deliberately sin will still find themselves in God's Grace. This clip that suggests that we should do nothing because Jesus died on the cross means nothing if we do not strive to obey Him who set us free in the 1st place both Ephesians 2 and Romans 6 are consistent with these matters. This means that we still have duties to fulfil as loyal Christians and believers in Christ, and it all begins with the one command (Jn13:34 & Ro 12:10) Love one another as I have loved you. Only by truly obeying commandments 5-10 can we hope to achieve to love God through the observance of Commandments 1-4 and entering God's Grace.
As far as the robber on Jesus' side who was crucified alongside Him, to suggest that He did nothing and was still saved is by far one of the weakest arguments for our doing nothing and still thinking that we are saved. When we look at what was happening surrounding those events, Jesus was just convicted of being an insurrectionist for claiming to be King when Ceasar was the only supreme ruler of that time and region. Meaning this was a very scandalous political motive in convincing the highest authority to assassinate Jesus by the will of the Jewish leadership of that time. His disciples left Him (Matthew 26:55-56) so technically no one came forward to support nor defend Jesus while He was being tortured or hung on the cross except the robber who out of everyone there defended Jesus by saying He had done nothing wrong and to remember him when he came into His Kingdom (Luke 23:43). Naturally Jesus felt the criminal's compassion and sincerity and of course Jesus being God granted Him an even bigger reward for both His Faith and Change of Heart but most importantly because He was the ONLY one who defended Jesus at a time when no one did. He showed no works, right? But what did Jesus direct His disciples and us over all to do? Keep the commands. (Matthew 19:16-21) We must keep the commands and follow Jesus otherwise we are just liars, and the truth is not in us (1 Jn 2:3-6 & 1 Jn 4:7-21).

Works matter. Grace saves. When Christ suffered at Gethseme he paid for our sins and he atoned for us. He broke the bonds of the death for all men.
Matthew 25:31-46 clearly shows the importance of works. 31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Jonah 3:10 And God *saw their works*, that they *turned from their evil way* ; and *God repented* of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

Sorry but you are contacting the Bible. James and Ephesians both state why grace without faith or works does not work. We do believe that all are saved through the grace of Christ, both in resurrection and in salvation, but this does not mean that it is by grace alone that we enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Respectfully, you're wrong about the interpretation of the Book of Mormon (2 Nephi 2:6-7) "Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth. Behold, he offereth himself a sacrifice for sin, to answer the ends of the law, unto all those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit; and unto none else can the ends of the law be answered." (Mosiah 5:8) "there is no other name given where by salvation cometh, I would that ye should take upon you the name of Christ..." there are more examples of this principle being taught it is by Christ alone we are saved and nothing we be saved. As for why the verse you quoted was worded there are several things to consider but for time I'll point out one key diffrent between what was shared and the other. Verse from the book of Mormon I shared. The word "after" you interpreted it as a condition of salvation and theoretically its possible that is what was being said but the fact there are several more examples saying the opposite I find ot more likely its talking "timing" of salvation... the very verse you mentioned "For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God" Nephi is explaining we labor to do all we can, not to save themselves or their friends and family, but as said just few verse later (2 Nephi 25:26) they "may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." Which is Christ himself.

Yah..I'm sorry, very sorry bit you cannot cherry pick verses and just stop reading the chapter and assume you got the context...in terms of works...IN TERMS OF THE ENTIRETY OF SCRIPTURE!
Faith without works is dead, just as works without faith is dead.
    James 2:14-26
    Faith and Deeds
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder.
20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[a]? 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[b] and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

    King James Version
What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? James 2:14
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? James 2:19-20
    22. Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? James 2:22
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
    James 2:24
Bible is very clear, you need works with faith to have true legit faith , have Works of Christ law , not works of Moses law anymore to be safe.
    Other bible translation-
You believe that there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder. 20 But do you care to know, O empty man, that faith without works is useless? James 2:19-20
You see that a man is to be declared righteous by works and not by faith alone. James 2:24

But Free Grace, it's not a free license to sin
basically after believing in the True Gospel, you are saved and sealed forever,
Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise
but if you decide to commit a horrible crime, (abusing free grace,) you can be punished
Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
      but never loss of Salvation
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
John 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

      Here are some tips:
      1. Never give up. Even if you failed before, get back up.
      2. Remember God always promises a way of escape, look for it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
      3. Prevent yourself having access to the sin, even if it makes life very inconvenient for you. For example, if pornography is the issue, don't allow yourself access to the Internet when you are alone. Don't allow yourself access to those sites.
      4. Control your thoughts and don't let them wander. Don't feed your desires, it makes it harder to resist it later.
      5. Ask God for help in resisting your sin.
      6. Read your Bible daily.
And just like a muscle gets stronger the more times you use it, the more you resist sin the better you’ll get at resisting it.

The same Bible teaches in James 2:17 that "Even so FAITH, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." The verse you reference in Ephesians says right there that we are saved by grace THROUGH faith. Of course grace is not a result of our own works, but faith certainly is. You're implying that if this verse in Ephesians contradicts the Book of Mormon, it's also contradicting itself in James, since it's saying the exact same thing. The Book of Mormon and the Bible act as complimenting witnesses of the divinity of Jesus Christ. I wonder why that is such a terrible thing for fellow christians to accept? Anyone that seriously studies both for themselves can figure that out. Don't base your testimony of Christ on some dude's opinion on youtube (myself included!) Do the work to figure it out for yourself. 🙏🏻

If works are not present, then the person did not have a true saving faith. Faith saves, and then after faith comes works. They're not both tied to salvation, but a subsequent series of events. You have faith, you're saved, and you commit to good works because a God who loves you did a great work for you first and foremost. He lifted the weight of sin from you, allowing you to choose to do more good things, and have those good things actually mean something, and then you do them, no longer burdened by the weight you were carrying on your own. You're not made perfect in every way until after death, so you will still sin in some ways, but now have the ability to do good in the name of God because He changed you with his saving grace. As such, someone saying they have faith, but don't have good works, do not actually have faith. Their faith is dead. But someone with a saving faith will do good works in the name of the God who saved them.

@@Josh.Proctor see how everyone has their own interpretation of the Bible though? Who's to say your interpretation is more correct than anyone else's? I believe in Christ's atonement 100%. It enables my faith, however there are still ordinances I need to carry out for salvation. Even Christ being perfect was baptized to show his humility and obedience to the commandments of the Father. The Book of Mormon clarifies doctrine such as this and provides another witness of His teachings along WITH the Bible. If you read it with a sincere heart, you'll see for yourself. People are just afraid that if the Book of Mormon is true, it will change everything for them. That's the whole point.
