LYRICS
I am the thing that makes you sick
I am the blame that gets placed quick
Detect the crack within your lie (your lie)
I'll be the wrath of your disdain
I'll be the fear in you engrained
Become the facts that you deny (deny)
I can feel this pain is real
I hate deep down inside
And like broken glass you'll shatter
With bloody fists I'll batter
Like a ten ton hammer, son
I'll be the trembling in your breath
Trickle of blood upon your flesh
You'd love to watch me take the fall - FALL!
I'll be the thing that you despise
'Cause I'm the path to your demise
And I'm a be there standing tall - TALL!
I can feel this pain is real
I hate deep down inside
And like broken glass you'll shatter
With bloody fists I'll batter
Like a ten ton hammer, son
I can't stand or take another day my friend
You could learn a thing or two
I can't stand or take another day my friend
You could learn a thing or two
I can feel this pain is real
I hate deep down inside
And like broken glass you'll shatter
With bloody fists I'll batter
Like a ten ton hammer, son
I accidentally bought this album in 1997 thinking it was Rage Against the Machine. Best thing to happen to a 12yo
youduarf haha I was 12 also lol I still remember seeing that CD cover on one of those little stations where you can sample a CD before you bought it 😬
My older sister's friend left the CD at my house and that's when i fell in love with heavy metal.
Almost same story here, except I bought Evil Empire, so Machine Head introduced me to Rage Against The Machine, and nowdays two of my favorite bands.
Had the same experience with incubus - there was a death metal band called inkubus or some shit - except it didn't have a happy ending.
@@aplus1080 That death metal band had the exact same name, Incubus. Now known as Opproprium if i'm not mistaken. They had to change their name, even though they existed before the alt rock Incubus, because that band was so popular. The more famous Incubus is one of my all time favorite bands, i know of the other through my metalhead brother, who in fact loves both.
Whether they're playing Groove Metal or Thrash Metal Machine Head is just pure win.
groove thrash
Woke metal now lol
@@paul_romero_ unfortunately yes
Groove Nu-Thrash

When comes the time that people will start giving respect to 90's metal again? To me this sounds as good as it did back then!
i fully agree with richfrommitch, though i have the feeling that even machine head themselves can't compete with their old stuff anymore. their newer stuff isn't bad, don't get me wrong, but it's way more technical and trying to sound "epic" than it needs to and - possibly - than it should.
richfrommitch do you understand the complexity of what these "kids" play? Djenting isn't supposed to be the new thing its supposed to be smart and complex. It still is rhythmic too. What you're talking about are math algorithms translated into music notes. Thats why the time frames are weird and changing every measure. It's perfecting something that doesn't need to to be perfected, Still sounds cool though. If you ever decide to listen to stuff like that just remember you're listening to something perfect whether it sounds perfect to you or not.
Amen, Bro❤
amen bro!
this demonstrate how ignorant you guys are, you know that even rap music is about going after the sistem and versus police brutality right ? Wu tang clan, triple six mafia, n.w.a, ever heard of em ? Youre doing the same thing that normies do when they talk about metal music, Stop being fucking hypocrites god damn, if you want peoples who are denouncing the actual state of rap/music industry listen to denzel curry, and whats the sense of insulting modern metalheads, i my self, respect 80's/90's metal music, i love pantera, machine head, sepultura, anthrax, exhorder, kreator but i even love bands like periphery, meshuggah, cryptopsy, animals as leaders, strapping young lad, august burns red, sikth, fellsilent, rivers of nihil, alter bridge, glass cloud (just to make some example) .
You guys are the only one who are insulting, i respect the story of a genre, this shit should stop, all of what you guys are doing is complaining about the most useless and stupid things ever, don't talk if you don't have a knowledge of what you're talking about.
I grew up with the Machine Head harmonics! 🎸
Make a new video
Dude. Saaaaaaaame. Used to feel like they were the blueprint for all metal.
Then nothing happened with them 😂
Me too
The best parents are mom and dad and groove metal
natural harmonics!!
🤘💥💥🤘
One of the heaviest riffs ever written🤘
It’s pretty heavy but I think that the outro to Clenching the Fists of Dissent is heavier.
THICK
You mean in the MH discography, right?
No it's pretty boring and cringe
I think davidian is a lot heavier...
2024. This song is still as hard as ever
I miss the 90s era metal videos.
Volodymyr Ivanytskyy. I was thinking the exact same thing!
i miss them too
what's wrong with modern videos?
evth is wrong, go watch metallica new album's videos and u'll see what I mean...
and not just them...
Pantera + Korn: This Masterpeace
That hook is genius, the guitar and vocals. Felt so powerful when I first heard it back in the 90s.
If they made a line chart of "Easiest song to play" and "Heaviest song to play" this is right at the highest point of intersection.
Puritania by Dimmu Borgir

I'm addicted to the chorus.
Me too!
As are all of us, one of the best metal choruses second to Me Inside by SlipKnot.
Listen the chorus of « Amendment » by Flaw
Songs that I would recommend if you want to get into MH
1. Davidian
2. Old
3. Ten ton hammer
4. Elegy
5. Beautiful mourning
The top 3 is where I fell hard face down for this band
None but my own is the one that actually got me into them, heard it on the radio lol.
Game over
god i miss when metal was like this
I still love this song as much as I did in '97
Me2 bro..
That riff is maaaaaaaaaaaaaad
madass
Underrated band, I first heard them in high school, still a staple in my playlists after like fifteen years. :)
spoukas, they are.
Fr0z0rz their newer albums are epic as well
Underrated NOW. Maaaaaan they were f'ing huuuuuuge back in the day. Kinda supposed to be what slipknot became.
One of the official songs to my summer of '98, being 17 and always roadtrip'ing over to Fargo with my bandmates at the time. Hell yeah I miss those days!!
Rock on
I remember seeing Machine Head , Corrosion of Conformity and Drain STH at Playmakers in '97 still my top concert of all time.
@@demoninside86 Yep, was at that concert too. Met a couple of the guys from M.H. and met couple of the chicks from Dsth.
That was a great show!
Probably the best metal song of the 90’s.
*My good taste in music never fails to bring me back here.*
Dave McClain's drumming is mercilessly/unwieldingly blistering, from track 1 through to the closing strains of track 10-he hit those drums so immaculately powerfully and precisely-it goes down,in my opinion as the single greatest aural display of virtuoso album drumming i have ever heard-and ever will.Dave McClain=greatest drummer,i have ever heard.Beautiful.xxx
its been 20 years and i still love the song! hi from Ankara/ TURKEY!
numetal groove metal heavy metal
GREAT combo.
90s metalcore too holmes
Well that’s a new genre of metal
And grunge😁
quit labeling it you fucking hipster
The best MH era. The best MH's album !!!
+BigBoss1982 Agreed. Every song on these first 2 albums is a hit. Slam metal.
i miss those days
I'll always be a burn my eyes boi, but this is f'ing tight.
This and The Blackening are the best ones! People always say Burn My Eyes is their best but i prefer TMTC.
@@aplus1080 I was too, starting to re-think my position though as I listen to this album more...
disappointing to see such an awesome & landmark metal song only have over a million views in 8 years
JUST IMAGINE IF UA-cam WAS AROUND WHEN THIS SONG CAME OUT, THERE WOULD BE A LOT MORE VIEWS
Plenty of non-mainstream (but legendary) bands' videos get fewer views than this while all the huge bands & pop crap get hundreds of millions of views. The reason? People are stupid. But who cares anyway? We love this shit & that's all that matters \m/
That riff is so fucking heavy !
and that god damn bass!
The way the guitars were recorded on this album blew my mind when it was released. It still holds up today as heavy as holy fuck! Great album.
Went to these guys' show at a pretty small venue Tuesday, hadn't heard any of there stuff but knew they were a heavy band, and tickets were only 22$.
Holy shit
I've only been to outdoor festivals, these guys kicked ass and showed me how quiet these outdoor festivals are, it sounded like I was under water after the show! Didn't have any hearing issues at all after any of the festivals. This song sounded way better live, but that's not saying this sounds bad, they just played a killer 2 1/2 hour set! Hahaha
Going to see them again next month
Got to see these guys live on tour for this album while they were on Ozz-fest when I was 16, and they've remained one of my favorites ever since. I'll never forget their set, would love to see them again.
How did Flynn turn out so many killer groovy heavy riffs. The first two albums are chock-full of them. When I learn them on guitar there is nothing crazy going on, yet I know I could never in a million years compose them.
It's called mania... and he ain't stupid neither... (just my blabla, don't worry about it)
I've never got tired of this song
This thing makes me so proud of me and my beloved music
13 years later it STILL sends chills down my spine....
Hahaha so funny to read this comment 10 years later. F'ing time flies.
@@aplus1080 23 years later!
Still chills :)
C ya in 10 years 😁
Probably my favorite Machine Head song
This album & the 1st album... Both Gospel... Absolutely Killer... Listen to them Both, Back To Back....... 👍 👍
Happy 22nd anniversary for this fucking great record!!! I'm getting old... the good old and heavy music never gets!!
This takes me back. Anyone else remember the Roadrunner demo cd that had two songs each from these guys, Coal Chamber, Fear Factory and a few other RR bands? Fuck I wish I could go back to then.
The secret is never leaving.
I almost break my neck to this song!! lol so metal \m/
This should be the theme song to every pro wrestling show!
Thank you im not the only one that thinks that
I support this
What a banger on those day's in the gym.
I started to hear machine head just because of this song. Simple , heavy with clear sound and bus. I didn't find a lot more songs like this , maybe take my scars and some more from that same album...
Music of my young heavy metal years! That's right!
fuckin love the riff! powerfull as hell
That beginning riff spawned half of the 90s metalcore bands trying to do that whole horror chord breakdown thing (disembodied, botch, eighteen visions etc)
Also Testament's Demonic Refusal, which came out the same year, pretty much invented that whole '''chuggy dissonant breakdown''' thing all the deathcore bands run into the ground.
I'd argue it all goes back to "raining blood." That shit still shits on everything after it.
I like, how Machine Head sounds. Color of voice of the singer, guitars = perfect sound, drums, bass....it is perfect, excelent.
Is it 20 years now, feels like forever
i love 'Ten Ton Hammer' in 2019
best album they made. period.
Personally, I like burn my eyes better. but yeah. This one is fucking slick, too.
for sure, burn my eyes was the best, this was second best.. and the rest were TURD mwahaha
I heard this album first in like 6th grade so it was my first experience with MH and grew on me greatly then I heard Burn My Eyes which I liked but it never Struck a Nerve (lol) like TMTC. The rest I could hardly listen to haha
@@Clownsec Na this one is way better than BME
once again this shit is FIRE
BRUTAL
In 2022 these guitars still hold 10 times their own weight.
Drums on this entire album are masterpiece
I feel like metalheads are the only people who understand each other’s pain
Hahaha prick
This was the song that lead me to them and I was hooked! One of my all time favorite bands!
That time change for the chorus is killer....rob is a legend in his own mind...and mostly in his own way...been a fan since vio-lence/forbidden days!!!
First song and the album, The More Things Change was my first machine head album.Hell Yeaah
My favorite Machine Head song
the absolute fundamentals of the genre.
That riff ended me up with lawn chairs wrapped all around me when I saw them in West Palm at ozzfest some years ago on the lawn. The pit blew up so fast it was crazy!
Brilliant album.
I'll never forget seeing them in a small club in Raleigh open up for C.O.C. (who they absolutely blew off the stage) on this tour. My best friend was with me and I looked across the pit to see him, blood all over his face and his nose hanging to the left, having the time of his life. What memories! We ended up meeting Rob that night in the laundromat that was in the same strip mall and he was super cool.
OH THIS VIDEO...... when i was 15 i Joined the MH fan club through snail mail......ONE day i received a letter with a SMALL piece of paper inside that said, "MH VIDEO SHOOT at the BERKELEY SQUARE! INVITATION ONLY...BRING THIS FLYER!!!! so that SUNDAY me, my Best friend (15) and my only friend that could drive (16) drove to the big city for the first time & spent a sunday afternoon at the Berkeley square with about 50 other fans and watched them FILM THE LIVE SHOTS while MH played TEN TON HAMMER 3 times!!!! then it was over, a LOCAL band named LOCKJAW .44 handed out demos to everyone as they left!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude. HOLY SHIT that fucking rules! Man. Shout out to the old fan clubs. 😭
NOSTALGIA!!!!!!
Saw them live at a show put on by the local radio station circa 99-2000 and it was roughly 1000% better live.
One of my favorite bands, machine head , make a great music, fantastic
For some reason, this is the only Machine Head album I've never really given a chance. If the rest of the record is as good as this, I'm really missing out on a lot.
Fantastic heavy hitting song with badass groove riff 🤘🏻🙂🤘🏻🫡❤️🔥
This is my favorite song from Machine Head! First heard it on my The Ozzfest '97 cd :) :D
Metal is poetry 10 times, God has no entry , the earth has all the cards!
Great song! It brings me back again!
Remember seeing this vid on Headbangers Ball when it came out and LOVING it! 1st album blew me away & after hearing this had to go get The More Things Change... as soon as it came out! 1st 2 albums are still their best IMO!!!.... Steve
Burn My Eyes and The More Things Change=
The most badass MH albums ever made!! ✊🏻🔥
Damn, i'm old. I saw them on their Burn My Eyes tour live. 25 years ago? Hell, fu. (little Metallica quote: But the memory remains)
Every song by Machine Head is Deadly & Awsome & wicked & cool I even like to sing along to all of my favourite song's
Danny morrissey so you like California bleeding?
That riffs is awesome
I played this for my sixth grade class then in 99 my buddy showed me meshuggah! This was the peak!...of machine head for me.
i am feeling so old when i listen to my favourite bands from back in the days. BUT they are still good!
One of the HEAVIEST songs ever !
+I Am “I Am Waffle” Waffle Pantera.

Better.
The heaviest you mean right ? You good Sir
aww - this is still as good and brutal as it was when they released it in the past. in a gig it was crazy smashin' and mosh pits!

These guys were so badass live!
Some of the scenes look exceptionally smooth, like 60fps
A landmark band that happened to spawn right around Peavey’s release of the 5150. That fact and their powerful riffs is reason why this band sounds so monumental. Fun fact: Carcass followed suite on Heartwork and we all know how incredible that record sounds.
Heartwork used Peavey?
Purportedly so, yes. Peavey 5150 paired with a Marshall Guv’nor distortion pedal.
yeah...i know i could listen to this riff all day!
I'm feeling this
First time hearing this. Sick.
Love it!
What a powerful song ! Brazil loves you guys !!! @machinehead
