LYRICS
Sweet caress grazes my skin. It's loveless, these hooks sink in.
Behind an angel's disguise, an insect preys.
Mandibles cut like a knife, a reckoning.
Forming clouds, their shadow shrouds. Louder the tattered wings they sound.
Descending down.
Down they come, the swarm of locusts. Skies above converge to choke us.
Feast of souls consume the harvest. Young and old, suffer unto the locust.
Surrender, these veins are bled. Devoured, nothing sacred. Strings pull the marionettes.
See how they dance upon the winds that beget our pestilence.
Forming clouds
Their shadow shrouds
Louder the tattered wings they sound
Descending down
Down they come
The swarm of locusts
Skies above
Converge to choke us
Feast of souls
Consume the harvest
Young and old
Suffer unto the locust
Bleeding from my eyes, this plague is sent to erase us.
Bleeding from inside, these vermin can't infiltrate us.
Faith appears, and holds a candle. Hark, the angels sing.
Forming clouds, their shadow shrouds. Louder the tattered wings they sound.
Tear the veil, the lies derail. Purity ever will prevail. Trumpets sound the shattered crown.
Halos of truth now they surround. The charade comes down.
That man has an awesome fucking voice.
+Anthony O'Brien Seeing him live is fucking awesome. #Cleveland
+Anthony O'Brien I saw them live a couple of months ago, he sounded awesome live too :)
+Anthony O'Brien Yes! of course clean vocals , screaming and rap
***** You're clearly deaf.
***** Is that meant to hurt my feelings? :p
When the first heavy riff drops, that moment could cure depression! :D
anger can cure depression?
+Ricardo Souza Oh yes! Apathy and a despairing negative attitude can be a big part of what keeps depression alive. Anger can then be used as a positive energy that can lead to change for the better, well that and KICK ASS RIFFS.
+Adam Walker I refer you @Ricardo to a song called "Rise" by Public Image Ltd which states in the lyrics "Anger is an energy" which I find to be SO true!
+Adam Walker I rarely comment here, but this time I felt compelled to. I suffer from depression, and have recently discovered that converting sadness in to anger works well for positive fuel. Metal works!
Thanks Chris, I also speak from experience here. I suffer from severe bouts of depression, heavy music like this with lots of feeling behind it is what gets me through the worst times and helps me appreciate the best
2011: Its just a song, nothing more
2020: ...
Oh Shit
Africa actually did have locusts this year.
Coulter Sheppard i hope they played this song
Brasil haver your own locust every political election, piles of ....
His voice is really amazing
Dave McClain is one of the most underrated drummers out there.
FORSURE!!! "DAVE MCCLAIN IS AMAZING LIVE"!!! ..he's for sure the top 5 drummers of this world!! Unbelievable talent! "San Francisco, California baby represent "!
Better than Joey Jordison, the drummer everyone thinks is the best ever blah blah blah, Dave McClain is the shit and easily the best metal drummer today
He's great. He's up there with David Silveria (formerly of Korn), Travis Smith (formerly of Trivium), Matthew McDonough ( formerly of Mudvayne) and the best of all time John Boecklin sadly also formerly of DevilDriver. These guys make John Bonham and Joey Jordison look novice at best in my opinion. 🤘
Todd Taylor you can’t be serious ! Hahahah joey and this dude blow ! It’s so basic and rudimentary you can’t possibly tell me you can’t think of a better metal drummer ? You must not listen to much metal at all
Machine head doesn't let their drummers grow their hair lol.
perfect song to listen to while doing geometry homework angrily
If you need more music to add to your geometry playlist, check out Killswitch Engage's new album Atonement! It's my favorite metal album so far this year.
Relatable, listen to this song while doing my algebra homework.
Love it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Remember if it's science homework it has to be tool
also works while marking English exams
One of the most underrated metal bands ever. Long live Machine Head 🤘🤘

I've got barely any hearing in my left ear and I got new headphones today, being able to appreciate this song again has made me cry 😂
Same here. High five!
@@locust7777 shite mate isn't it?
@@HavelGaming Sure is. Mine was actually caused by Slayer live in concert. And i've got constant ringing in one ear.

Thanks for putting in the work to actually take the time to display the lyrics 👍
Few posess the eyes that truly see through this vast deception. Thank you 😇
hearing this song live is insane
Well, it's not possible to hear it while dead.
Live!! you know in concert. dumb fuck!
Haize Joke! You know. Dumb coitus!
8b64z coitus implies intercourse....that makes no sense dork!
Oooooh playing the 'woman' card. This isn't wartime anymore
Such a masterpiece of the genre here. Really showcases just how good thrash metal can be.
THRASHmetal? really bru?
+Wouter Witten wut
This is groove metal man.
+Cosmic_Infidel it doesnt matter if it is trash, groove or heavy metal. This song and the band are awesome, this matters!
+jax son thank you sir
2020: Locust swarms strikes Asia, Africa and South America.
Me:
wish they had more songs like this - That strum pattern is so kick ass
Drummer is badass
Big Gee Agree
Howwie mandell
Looks like he's getting tickled in the first big ass break
Baldass
to me Machine Head is metal in its purist form. none of those subgenres. and i love these dudes. completely found them by accident but glad i did. amazing vocals, lyrics, and composition of instrumentals. i remember getting in trouble with my parents when i first found them cause of the cursing. but i had to tell them their lyrics were actually positive and inspiring.
You should your own band. You could call it Machine Nerd.
They were the first band I saw live
@@LucasRodrigues-tm8os How nice of you to say so.
@@LucasRodrigues-tm8os Hell yeah. No. Fuck no. Just no. Maybe... No.
The subgenre is called groove metal lmao
the guitar starting at 3:25 invoked a tingling sensation throughout my body, so good
5:25 Mr. Stark I Don't feel so good
Alright, I think I'm gonna buy some Machine Head albums.
Kevin Meisenbacher BUY THE BLACKENING I THINK IT HAS SOME OF THEIR HEAVIEST SHIT JUST LIKE THIS AESTHETICS OF HATE,SLANDEROUS, CLENCHING THE FISTS OF DECENT, BEAUTIFUL MORNING.JUST A BUNCH OF GOOD HEAVY SONGS

Well this is a masterpiece.
@@maxmoritz1931 this song is still a masterpiece
Just heard this song live yesterday! Was amazing! Even more powerful in the moment.
Been almost 7 years already? Just felt like yesterday this song came out. Still love it too
10 years already 😭
I can't decide if your screen name is a Shia LeBouff reference or the go-to dig at a sexy lady you are trying to get fresh with 😂
For Whayatt Greenfield
Machine Head is like a cross between Pantera,Metallica and Slayer.
there's some Korn in there too I think
+Nino Falletta my dad said they're a mix between bullet for my valentine and slayer, I think he was pretty accurate
update: reading your comment on this video again, forgetting that i responded, I have to agree haha
Yeah and a little bit of slipknot and a teency bit of lamb of god
+Kc Regalado Lamb of God?!? Wtf?
+Agustin Rodriguez hey i said a teency bit
Goddammit... i can't stop to listen this band, They are FUCKING AWESOME!!
Prog-Tresh Masterpiece!
Came here after listening to Catharsis. We need the original machine head back!
I actually love Catharsis (The song, except Beyond the Pale and Catharsis, this album isn't so good)
Catharsis ain't as bad as people make it out to be, but you do have to look past some *cough* caustic politics
02:41 HAHAHA! imagine what the people walking past thought was happening to this guy whilst they were filming him without effects! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Desantos123 UK ... Yeah, that would be pretty fucked up an agonizingly painful...
Boogherghost Green Slimy we sellers do A Party too) @😀
This sounds how I think metal SHOULD sound.
Hank McStash who do you not think sounds metal in the genre? Lol
@@pillager278 some metalcore just rapes the djent/has only growl singing with no REAL angry vocals
Young and old...SUFFER UNTO THE LOCUST!!!!
Great band!
My current four year old brother loved this song when he was younger
Machine head are an Industrial metal band, just like lamb of jesus
Well, there are no keyboard nor electronic beats. This ain't Indus Metal, it is f***ing raw Metal. And one of the best out there.
This song is stuck in my head
How I could barely tell what's he's saying
Its easier to understand than death-metal, and there are lyrics in the description...
Matt Ace Dude, do you even metal?
It’s always stuck in my head
YeloSno listen to Beyond The Pale off the new album
Who are the 2,600 tasteless people? Funny I am just now hearing this song for the first time during the 17 year Cicada emergence. Great jam! 🤘🏻
The heavy intro riff is probably the most fun riff to play ever. One of my warm ups before band practice.
Best metal band for 22 years running!!!
The breakdown is beautiful!!
The greatest American metal band ever. Fight me.
There is hope for the metal old heads as long as machine head is doin stuff like this. Thank God.
Surely one of the best songs of this century! This is complete! Heaviness, harmony, destruction, loud guitars, power, screams and Locusts! hahaha This is Metal at it's best!!
My first Machine Head song. I was nigh a teen still growing up the scene until this music video started playing on my TV.
Needless to say, that's when I started paying attention to similar artists like them. They were the primary reason i even found Pantera! :D
KoRnIsKoRn
I know opinions are like assholes but I'd take pantera over this anyday
Mee too
Kinda funny considering how Robb and Phil are enemies
One of the best breakdowns ever was made by a not-core or djent band. Awesome ✨
I love this band. And this song. I'm a fan forever
thanks god they left the nu metal forever...
groove\thrash rules!
+Nu Metal Kid lol shut up nu metal kid
Spoke too soon
Now that Catharsis is out, not forever I guess.
nu metal is a bad word
What are you talking about? The burning red is a very good album
the intro always gives me goosebumps xD
I'm old skool. I have been following Machine Head since '94. One of my favorite bands ever. I saw them for the first time in '96 or '97 at Ozzfest I think...lol Bitchin. SLAYER!!!!!!!......Had too....Too bad Slayer is retired, they both need to tour again TOGETHER!!!
just having a nostalgia trip. this song is honestly was an eargasm to me hands down.
Great music to listen when playing Gears of War
Oh yes!!!!
Dave is definitely one of the best drummers I've ever seen, he's in beast mode on this song
Metal Nation.
Im here for the music as always
Todo el mundo tendria que tener conocimiento sobre este grupo... SON LA HOSTIA!
2021. Still my favorite song! Love it.
Gosh the guitar is heavy,i like it
Embarrassingly, I only got into Machine Head THIS YEAR. I just love them.
Don't worry: I'm done waay stupider things. you'll be fine. Just keep listening to Machine Head
Keep Calm and SUFFER UNTO THE LOCUST!
Tell me that guitar starting at around :45 wasn't inspired by Dimebag Darrell. I fucking dare you.
Not talking shit at all, I love Machine Head. One of maybe 3 or 4 bands currently together still making music that I enjoy listening to. I dig this song a bunch for that heavy thick groove sound which Dime put his stamp on, brings me back to my younger days.
I dont hear it. Dime was known for his squealing. But now that you say that, that riff does sound like it was influenced by someone ive heard before.
Travis Brimstone It sounds like Trendkill era Dime to me...such as Suicide Note Part Two after "cowards only try it", War Nerve, or Sandblasted Skin.
Oh okay I can hear that a bit now. I was thinking dimes overall technique. How great is machine head tho ? Amiright? :)
Hahaha yessir greatness indeed! I do love me some Machine Head!!
QuesoCFH Especially the Locust album. I have to say, I was impressed when it came out. I figured that they might tank into this new age music sound, but they hit the fans hard with a great album.
I used to deliver pizza while blasting this song
I had the privilege to watch Machine Head live at Graspop Festival last Friday and I must say they're badass on stage and they became of my favourite metal bands for a while already. Great performance and the vibe was awesome! They played Locust and I loved every second of it! I was actually thrilled by the entire set list. Hope to see them again soon! ROCK ON!
first time hearing it, magical
I wish I could like this more than once...Amazing song.
I have so under rated this band for FAR too long.....
LET THE HOUSEKEEPING COMMENCE! 🤘
This is my favorite song
metalhead for 3 years(since 2011)and this is the 1st time I listen to MH...I feel so stupid...(excuse my english)
No thing wrong with your english my dear sir
thanks
Same here, started to hear them today... You're not alone ^^''
It is nothing you should be ashamed of. I have been listening to metal for 5 years and this must be like Vy second MH song
their music turned me into a metalhead....I FUCKING LOVE THEM BROO
I think we as humans should bring back the tradition of raising hords, to raise our enemies to the ground.
If you need to hit that heavy metal g-spot. Machinehead will get you there. Every. Single. Time.
what better bed time storie? Machine Head Rullezzzz Heavy Metal Forever!
I came twice in the first 45 seconds
IKR!
why didn't you go for a triple!
+Onedayilbeok oh baby a triple!
remarkable....
LeCaissie relatable.
3:10 is one of my favorite parts to any song. The perfect transition from rage to serenity. Get chills every time I hear it.
Every beatdown band listens to Machine Head. This song punches.
lovin' their early 90s, late 80s stuff...... majorly stoked animation
I always listen to this song after my shift until my mom arrives to pick me up
Machine head changes like the flavor of the day.
The reason why I got to Machine Head is this song. It's so amazing
One of the best examples of metal ever created, Bra fucking vo!
Yes
+Raptor Jesus I don't agree with him at all. This is a good song... But, like all the other metal bands that came out a long time ago... All these teenagers don't understand that there are better metal bands out there...
i listen to all the old shit too and i still think this is among the best metal songs
+Raptor Jesus I am 34 and I have to say Machine Head is one of the best metal bands at this point of time. And I really have listened to a lot of Bands. Yeah but I agree, this is not their best song, for sure
I have to see them in live!
old but gold
i play and listen to Metal since 30 yrs or more...that Song defines everything i love to live and die for Metal....this song is the best in metal in in my eyes...
Just saw them last night in Ottawa, CA. It was awesome!
This album is absolute genius! It's a story. The Blackening will always be my favourite album, but Unto the Locust is a masterclass in metal production and arrangement! The dynamics, the use of different time signatures the fluidity of the melodies! I fucking love it!
the drum fill into the riff gives me chills every time.
The drums in the beginning is honestly my favorite part. I get so pumped
Listening to this in 2020. God damm this brings back some memories.
one of the best machine head riffs ever
The best drummer in the world!!!
Who listeng 2023??? 🤘🇵🇪
My god, the signature guitars..
You can’t go wrong with two ex violence guitarists in the band! Machine head kills it!
I think that's the UNDERTAKER on bass...👊
Machine Head took metal to another level without loosing the heaviness.
Pscolka67 and then they Made Catharsis where they played all the stereotypes in Metal 🙈 imo is Catharsis a second Supercharger , good album when it would be Made by another band but Robb can do better with Machine head than what he did with Supercharger and the latest Catharsis, but i listen and support Machine head for almost 21 years and as long they play awesome live shows i dont give a sh*t about 2 albums that i did not like that much On their entire discography
@@robinblieck8213 Their nu metal albums are horrible af I can only stand songs like From this day and crashing around you others I'll pass but all in all they got their other groove stuff like this I headbang hard
Beautiful Solo!
Since when Jesus became a Heavy Metal singer?

Классно! Сейчас среди современных групп очень трудно найти нормальный , сильный и техничный метал. Красавцы!
I’ve played this song over and over again since it was out. Thank you!
I love the intro soo much! Ahh that drumming!
