- Elton John joins the Beach Boys for a rootsy rendition of Help Me Rhonda. I paired some existing video with a copy of the stereo broadcast recording. Enjoy!
Wow, Elton John and The Beach Boys! Legends.
I always thought Al did a fantastic job with Help Me Rhonda, but don't mind at all getting the chance to hear Carl take the lead on this one!
Agreed! 👍
I remember seeing a picture of this in one of those EJ books back in the 70's or 80's,but never knew there was video footage of it..This is great!!!
Early 70s Beach Boys had a great live band before "Endless Summer" became a hit and just did the hits from that point on.
Endless Summer was a curse
So sad.
I was there.
Cool! Just heard the audio today and went to find if indeed they introduced "Elton John". Thx for posting (and confirming)!
Never heard Carl sing this before.
Damn funky! 👍
thank you
At home in his sandbox.
I remember this gig. Crystal Palace, right?
My baby
0:22 Ricky Fataars drumming is good as Dennis Wilsons
Ricky Fataar is a far superior drummer than Dennis..Ricky and Blondie added so much to the Boys sound in the early 70s..

Why al Is not singing?
Where was Brian?
Brian quit touring with the band in 1964 after suffering a nervous breakdown whilst on plane to Houston which then gave him much more time to work in the studio which led to PetSounds and SMILE..He did sometimes make a rare appearance on stage especially after 15 Big Ones in 1976..
brian never toured!
In the early 70s, Brian was dealing with issues...they tried to bring him back in the mid 70s and did a TV special but he and Dennis were getting in over their heads with drugs... then Eugene Landy happened. They still did a lot of shows in the 70s & 80s, sometime around the 90s, when Stamos played drums with them, Brian made rare appearances with them..he did the country tribute album with them. After Carl passed, that's when the Mike vs Brian lawsuits happened (but wound up being a VERY productive time for Brian) and then the 50th anniversary brought him back one more time.
Brian toured with the band fairly regularly from 1976 through about 1980. And of course, he toured with them from their first road trips in 1962 through the first three weeks of December 1964.
@@3798penisholder Yes Brian toured. He toured a lot globally until he couldn't take it anymore.
