- Help Me Rhonda performed live on The Andy Williams Show - October 22, 1965
I initially uploaded this a few months back, albeit shorter and with a watermarked video source. I decided to upload this again, this time featuring my own edit of a new unwatermarked source and the inclusion of the intro, which contains a short run-through of California Girls and Andy Williams' introduction.
Al Jardine, the most underrated Beach Boy
He looks like a dentist
Yes, he was the one who was not a family member; Mike Love was a cousin of the Wilsons'
@@aunch3 he went to pre dental school or something like that
Al is my favorite
@@Newsiesfan953 Did he sing lead on anything but Help Me Rhonda?
Al Jardine absolutely nailed it with the vocals!
And he still nails it today, 58 years later.
@@patriciacarey1741 agreed.
THE DENTIST!
I was thinking the same thing. I loved this song when it first came out and now that am 76 I love it even more. 2:37
Только в студии они хороши.
Beach Boys in their prime. Perfect harmonies and so organic. Beautifull!
it's amazing how tight they are....and they look so happy here......
I never realized how good these guys were in a live performance. This video is the real deal. No lip syncing or pantomiming. Just real talent on display.
you didn't realize that?
@@gerrydooley951 Nope. I'd never watched a truly "live" performance of theirs before. I always liked their music but was never what you'd call a big fan.
@@jcc2c22 watch the Tami show
I Heard a noise
Their guitars are not plugged in,, duh
So great to see Al singing lead.
The unbridled joy on Brian’s face!
I couldn’t agree more!
💯
It always make me very happy when I see Brian smiling and having a great time whether in the studio or live
How lovely to see the boys standing together with their arms around each other. Al sounds great!
boy, Al had the pipes didn't he? what a strong voice!
and this was one of Al's first leads
And he still has them
He tours with his son and they put on a fantastic show. He tells the stories of the Beach Boy songs he performs and his son can sing the amazing falsettos.
@@lucaserojasabsolutely. Saw him with his son and his band last summer and they were amazing.
@@ronwhiteman8892 his son's voice is amazing too!
My 10 month old granddaughter is their biggest fan, she loves them so much and raises her hands over her head like she’s at a concert especially Barbra Ann ❤
I'm an old man now put back in the day these songs were really cool for us teenagers
I wish I was alive in your time. I think these songs are really cool as a Child (of 12)
Bow bow bow...
They were the bomb back then, weren't they? Couldn't get enough of them.
I always liked the way Jardine sang, he fits in great as a Beach Boy vocalist.
Man they had such a unique sound imo. Crazy impressive live performance. The great ones make it look so easy.
My name is Rhonda, saw Beach Boys as teen in Cincinnati, all my friends stood me up on a garbage can to honor me! LOL! Loved this song!
They were really singing!
Special song. I have heard it a few times also. I was also a teenager in the 60s. There was no time like the 60s and 70s.
Je crois que Al Jardine était un voisin.
Il a remplacé Brian Wilson qui
ne souhaitait faire que la production.
Was that at Refections ?
Tickets were 5 bucks!
Some where around 1970!
Al is great on this. Nice seeing a happy, healthy Brian totally grooving along with the song.
Harmony like no other group. Awesome!❤
No ...., Not like Abba , or Queen, or The Beatles !!🙄
@@501sqn3again, none of those groups can hang with The Beach Boys harmony wise. The only group that comes close is Crosby, Stills and Nash
@@thedisheveledplayboys Well, we shall have to agree to differ 🤷
That second verse lead vocal is absolute perfection ❤
In 1965, if an electric guitar wasn't plugged in, it didn't play. A great & mighty wonder here.
They are, bizarrely, playing to a pre recorded track even though they would play instruments live ordinarily. All the vocals are live.
I think only the lead is live.
I’ve never been a fan of this song when I was a kid but as an adult it’s one of my favorites. One of the best beach boys songs I don’t care what era.
I feel the same way, this is now my most favorite song, from the beach boys.
During the 2012 fifty-year reunion tour, I was at the Chicago Theatre concert and the ENTIRE crowd was singing along. It was most fun hearing 2000 people singing "Help Me Rhonda" and I could feel the love.
I loved this song. Especially the alt version
That's funny. This was probably the first "grown up" song that I remember really liking, at about age 4 or 5. Something about it drew me to it back then, and I still love it! Even more now, like you.
Gorgeous precious men
My goodness, its better than the studio version imo. True professionals.
They sound great live.
These kids played and sang their asses off. There aren’t a whole lot of bands even today singing crazy complex four part harmonies while playing instruments. And there’s zero chance they could hear themselves because this was before stage monitors existed. Just mind boggling the talent of musicians in the 60’s.
I feel we all underestimated Brian!
Captured the fun , cars, the carefree times of the early 1960s!
I love the Beatles and the British Invasion!
Brian Wilson despite your personal issues you are a musical genius! Never before has anyone has accomplished what you have given us !
God bless you!
Thank you for your happiness you gave me and everyone else for your music and or songs !
With all respect!
Take care Brian
When this song came out, I was so thrilled! Loved it, still do!
Me too. Am 74
Such great harmonies. There will be another band like this ever again. And there will never be another Brilliant man like Brian Wilson
A great era great talent ..the Beach Boys will be remembered for ever while later contemporaries will be forgotten.
such great harmonies
I love this group most when they are self accompanied. Their instrumental playing has a charm that's all its own. What little video there is, is really good.
Yep. They were like Americas Beatles. Too bad the dinky uniforms were kinda embarrassing. I prefer their post-1966 wardrobe.
@@neonfrootI don't get why they were embarrassing. That was their signature look
I was completely engrossed in the BBs at this time. I saw this on TV and actually took a picture of it with my camera. I saw the BBs a couple times in the 60s. It was almost like a "spiritual" experience for me. Just the 5 of them in striped shirts and they sounded incredible.
This is awesome!! I love that they are really playing and singing so unusual in those days. Al's vocals are great and I never realized how much Mike's lower harmonies added to the song. One of rock and rolls greatest groups!!
Brian singing and playing the bass like a boss.
One of the last times he is playing actual bass with the band live before he dissapeared from live appearances for a decade although i wouldnt count his bass "playing" in the late 70s
Al is underrated. I think one reason I like this band is they are just normal looking. Lots of hits.
I think people forget the contribution Al Jardine made or don't give him the credit he deserves.
Al didn’t play on the first four albums (Surfin’ Safari-Little Deuce Coupe). He did play on their first single, “Surfin’”. He was in the original 1961 lineup, but he left for dental school at the end of the year. That’s when, right before they were signed to Capitol, they replaced him with Carl’s friend from across the street. Marks played the first four albums (Surfin’ Safari, Surfin’ USA, Surfer Girl, and Little Deuce Coupe). Marks appears in the most famous photos of the band. Marks got into a fight with Murray at the end of ‘63, they got Jardine back, and the rest is history.
The Greatest Rock Band of All Time. !!!!
I love this song so much lol I turn my truck up to max volume and blast it with the windows down on a good day 😂
One of Al's best vocals!
I love that they gave Al the lead vocal on the song, and chose this for a national audience. He didn't get that opportunity very often.
I've seen the original video of this in black and white, so I guess it was colorized by someone.
This was broadcast in color
Miss the Andy Williams show. Lots of great talent every week.
Their music is timless. Amazing music, and they had the very first wireless guitars that did not require an cords!
Wow great song and video my favorite songs and video love it bring back the time of great hits❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉😅
Al is such a natural singing songs and plays guitarist with such comfort
I saw them live many times and they could sing. Amazing harmonies and great arrangements The best and most complex vocals in rock.
This is exactly what UA-cam is for . Thank you so much !
Thank you foor the upload. I feel so grateful that I got to grow up with this music in my life from the time I was 13 years old. They are part of every boyfriend I ever had, and part of the life with my husband until he passed away 20 years ago, and now still part of the joy in my life. God bless Carl and Dennis wherever they are, god bless Mike Love while he does his own thing, and God bless beautiful Brian Wilson now and forever.
Say what you want about Mike Love as a person, but he did a fine job on those bass lines on the vocals. One of the few singers to be a lead and a bass in the same band.
Very, very good vocalist. Very smart technique.
It's so cool this next generation your generation enjoys all these old jams that we used to listen to when we were just teenagers😊
Al Jardine, without a doubt -one of the greatest singers in Rock and roll
Country undertones and babershop quartet, fine innovation in rock history. Legends
Yes, barbershop influences, agree. Also formal choral influences clearly evident. This group displaced the Beatles for me as a young kid. ❤
many thanks great quality and sound love the beach boys
The fabulous Beach Boys, I’ve seen them live twice, superb! But wow, those pants! 😂😂😂👍🏻
Wow, anatomy of a song here. So unvarnished with all the elements exposed. Thanks.
Mike really had a very important part singing those very low parts which he does in all the harmonies when he is singing harmony. He nailed every one of those and they were hard
They really aren’t hard at all. Singing the harmonies like Brian and Carl are doing is much harder.
Love Alan Jardine. Happy Birthday
Twenty years later, I'm alone at my Cotati pad by Gronola State University (Sonoma)
My housemate pulls up from Santa Monica, 400 miles away.
He brought Brian Wilson along.
My housemate and another friend were working for a psychologist. Assignment, watching Brian Wilson 24/7
great harmonies.
I never realized Al Jardine sang the lead vocals!
I wish they did a full rendition of California Girls on the show, it sounded amazing
Wow that's fantastic too hear love it classic 👍👍❤️❤️💎💎
Im good how are you my friend 💎
I love the Beach Boys so much
Have always loved this song. The genius of Brian Wilson is evident here. And The Pet Sounds album is still his masterpiece.
How I miss these guys. So much love 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
This is amazing!! Can't believe I've never seen this clip before. Thanks so much for sharing. ( Liked and Subscribed.)
So grateful this exists! THANK YOU!
I love that this is a live performance. They were amazing!
Back when life was so simple and fun!
Just brilliant.
This is so good! Love it live!
I love 'em.
First concert I ever saw in Baltimore, 1965.
But, ya gotta play a solo!
First concert that I ever went to as well. Tooting Granada in London in the spring of 1964
I think it’s live vocals with a prerecorded backing track. Common back then. The giveaway is that there are no cords coming out of the guitars.
The music of MY generation !!!!❤❤❤❤
Love seeing and hearing them perform live!
Con ésta gran canción se inició mi admiración por THE BEACH BOYS y nunca he dejado de admirarlos y escucharlos. 🎉
Beach Boys...surfs up. Great times.
R. I. P. Dennis and Carl.
Fabulous drumming there from Dennis.
Near perfection. Absolutely excellent.
Al did a fantastic job wow
Fantastic band what a voice Alan has even to this day live sounds fantastic
Always been a huge Al Jardine fan. Such an underrated individual.
They look terrific doing this number. It is good to see Jardine singing.
finally found a video with the full intro!
Great performance 👍
Genuinely awesome!😊❤
Brilliant live clip!
Love the color to this video
Sure brings back some good memories. I grew up in Salt Lake City,, and was there when Mayor J. Bracken Lee presented them with the key to the city and then everyone zoomed out to KNAK radio station on Redwood Rd because they were going to be on the air. Got to talk to Mike and Dennis and fell in love. Bruce Johnston was standing in for Brian on that tour. Salt Lake City loved the Beach Boys.
Al Jardine really is the one friend we all wish we had.
Still America's band.
They were from Hawthorne, California which is south of Los Angeles. Where there house use to be is now as I remember a freeway running west to east. I loved The Beach Boys!!!
God Bless The Beach Boys.
Great video Jane!
The bass singer is kicking ass
So good live
Terrific lead vocal by Al, and a great bass part by Mike(bow, bow, bow).
Love seeing chunky Carl in these early pics/videos. Little feller could barely get his britches on. But, boy, could that little bowling ball sang.
J'ai l'impression de retrouver ma jeunesse
Great quality.
Real music get me to play beach boys disc at work
Well I'll be danged! I didn't know Al Jardine sang lead on this song. Learn something new every day. Great song. The short lead part was left out of this performance. But then maybe it was the wrecking crew that did it on the record.
we saw them at the hampton beach, new hampshire casino ballroom about this time in 64 or 65 and the mike love beach boys were just there last week. we took our nephew to see them but we didn't go in, too old now for us.
Reminds me of my 64 Chevy impala 283,driving in the back seat...
