      Well then again,It’s stark contrast as in the early 60s music had a certain innocence to it. Almost like the stars looked clean and acted clean, 10 years later sex,drugs and rock n roll lifestyle was the normal.

      There is a falsetto. Bruce is doing a fine job at it on stage. I can tell. It’s just barely audible unless you listen really hard because whoever was mixing this show wasn’t doing a very good job in that regard.

    I'm shocked they were still doing this song in 1971! Wasn't this when they were trying to be relevant with the hippie crowd, and change their name to "Beach" or something like that, and play more progressive music with a deeper meaning? There again, the song was only 7 years old at this point so I guess it wasn't that much of a relic of the past. But still--Western culture changed A LOT in those 7 short years!

      @markjamesmeli2520 7 років тому +2

      Well, it's just one of those things that happens. Mike's voice isn't "great," but he forged THE sound on all the hits he had with the group. On the other hand of the spectrum, The Lovin' Spoonful still exists today, but without John Sebastian. Granted, Sebastian wrote 'em all, but he wasn't really the best singer in the group. The best voice was Joe Butler, the drummer, who now fronts the band, and does a real nice job. If the Beach Boys were going to replace Mike having Al do his parts, it would have had to been done by 1970 or so.

      Aside from the fact that he helped Brian write the lyrics to several good hits. That is backed up by other Beach Boys too. People like to discredit him as much as they can because they read false info about him and take it for the truth. Sad. He sings the deep parts and Brian Wilson has called him one of rock n rolls greatest singers. Look it up if you don't buy it. Rolling Stones

      I think Mike is a parasite, that slowed down and belittled Brian Wilson's creativity (Pet Sounds), but then sued him for co-authorship of several songs and overcame the group's name.

    I followed the BBs in the 60, 70s, 80s, 90, and 2000s. They were at their best in the 60s....just the five of them in stripe shirts. This is a crap version of a great song...I Get Around. They were in the funk of the 70s. Not a good decade for them as some fans think.

    I can see why this was missing for years. This Live version sucks major wind. Mike Love should have stayed home to pound some more Peyote. Sad. It was the Dismal tide. I could never get behind Mike Love's version of "Cool". I would have avoided him at Harvey's Broiler in Downey. Now, he's out there, like a thief in the night, doing One Nighter's, calling himself The Beach Boys. Sad. The Dismal tide.

    God, the falsetto is almost non existent, the drums are being completely overplayed during each verse, the solo was somewhat sloppy, and it’s so damn slow. It’s like all the energy from those old live shows disappeared. Just depressing to watch sorry. Weirdly awful preformance
