First time I asked a girl to go to a concert with me [spring of '74]. Back then she only knew "Lola". she enjoyed a fantastic concert, singing and dancing. She ended up knowing more songs. I knew then that I had to marry that girl when I finished college. We're married 46 years now.
Si no fueron como Los Beatles fue porque prácticamente sólo cantaba y componía Ray. Encantadora banda, anyway. Los amaba. Yo viví los Sesenta!!! Thank God.❤
Ray Davies always impressed me as a singer and songwriter. I waited on his table at the restaurant I worked at in 1980 in Seattle WA. I was thrilled to have met him.
Maybe I'm wrong, but Ray was super talented! I never did think he got the recognition he deserved. He WAS famous back in the day of course and the Kinks reached immense popularity for a time, but after awhile, I feel like society didn't appreciate him enough after awhile when that appreciation and admiration should have continued. Just my opinion...
The Kinks are on a par with The Beatles in my opinion. Phenomenal talents with their own unique sound. This sort of music is long past and has been replaced by mostly tuneless repetitious stuff. A real shame.
I saw them at JFK stadium in Philly around the time of “ Superman “ , Ray did not want to leave the stage , they kept doing encore after encore …. 🙀‼️‼️
Without Ray Davies there would never been The Kinks. It extremely clear for me. Ray’s been so GREAT as a singer & songwriter. His brother Dave Davies was an important and good guitarist. too. Ray was a very nice an good person too. He’s been a fine person! - jon fisher
I've noticed that as the music plays I remember every note and every word from my teenage years. A.m. radio back in the day used to overplay things. I didn't mind when these were overplayed.
They had such good guitar riffs, saw them only once,in LosAngeles, don't remember what year exactly, but they were all together, and they started with L. O. L. A. Lolllla!
I've always thought the Kinks were by far the British Invasion band that held up best over time as far as never sounding dated. When "You Really Got Me" hit the airwaves I was 7 years old and immediately grabbed my Grampa's rusty stringed warped box guitar from the basement and learned the bass/vocal lines as well as possible and have played guitar ever since. I'll be 60 in a few weeks. I once heard them called "The Beatles for grown-ups" and seriously can't argue THAT one! GOD SAVE THE KINKS!!!
Great observation and comment. Their music doesn't sound dated. I don't disagree with you there...BUT..their sound DOES have a strong "1960's" flavor to it. Yet, their music is somehow TIMELESS. It's hard to describe. It's like...their music fits PERFECTLY in this neat little box situated halfway between having a very CLEAR CUT sound from a certain time period, ("60's pop rock", for lack of a better term), YET, their music still prevails today. It's timeless and never grows old. their music is still relevant, like the Bealtes, the Stones Arlo Guthrie, Jim Croce, Led Zeppelin, all that music. Know what I mean ? Another way to put it is their 60s sound is a "Time stamp" of sorts, as far as describing their music style, yet again, their music is timeless at the same time...
1. A Well Respected Man; 2. Where Have All the Good Times Gone?; 3. Till the End of the Day; 4. Set Me Free; 5. Tired of Waiting For You; 6. All Day and All of the Night; 7. I Gotta Move; 8. Lola (replacing Don't You Fret on Well Respected Kinks); 9. Wait Till the Summer Comes Along; 10. You Really Got Me. This Canadian LP was my introduction to the Kinks, and I remember the sound was phenomenal for a budget release.

God save the Kinks! ❤
Thank you for the days Ray and the Kinks in general ! Wonderful memories ,music and merriment ! 👍🏼🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
Effortlessly melodic rock music. Ray is one of Britain's finest pop music writers.
Grand groupe de cette époque magnifiques chansons 😊
One of the greatest Band !!!!!

Dave Davies también componía y nada mal. No fueron los Beatles porque no tuvieron un George Martín. Saludos
Grandes genios de la música por siempre desde México
Greetings from Warsaw, Poland 🇵🇱
This band reminds me the person that introduced me to this.
Ray Davies always impressed me as a singer and songwriter. I waited on his table at the restaurant I worked at in 1980 in Seattle WA. I was thrilled to have met him.
Very cool
He was always polite and sincere. They don't make them like that anymore plus he had talent oozing out oif every pore. Good health Sir Ray!
Maybe I'm wrong, but Ray was super talented! I never did think he got the recognition he deserved. So many great memories their songs bring back. Thank you for those days. Thank heaven for the Kinks. God bless 🙌
One of the best band.

The whole package!! Ahead of their time and getting better with the years.
Far ahead of their time - hell, they literally defined much of what was going to come in rock!
They invented hard rock metal.
As well as several of the classic rhythmic chord progressions....
Ya and they were sort of pre punk,Ray Davies was a radical dude.
A subtle, sneaky, radical dude in his own quiet British way! I love him and the Kinks !👍🏼🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️
These were songs when I was. Teenager! Words to a song!!!😊
It was the first lp I bought when I first came to London sixty years ago.
ძალიან მიყვარს ძველი ინგლისური ჯგუფების მოსმენა
I really got this,
and still have!
BEST SUPER SONGS
perfect music to listen in those weekend cloudy afternoons.
A collection of great songs by great trendsetting English band!
I've noticed that as the music plays I remember every note and every word from my teenage years. A.m. radio back in the day used to overplay things. I didn't mind when these were overplayed.
All Day and All Of the Night was their debut single in the U.S. It had an astonishing hard rocking sound, that riff is unforgettable.
It wasn't their debut single - You Really Got Me was.
Whatever it was, this is what I’d say: Thank you for the day!
What an under rated band superb the best years in music 🎉🎉❤
grew up with this music. Love it
GOD SAVE THE KINKS !!!

Cheers, friend.
And to you! That's a great observation. It makes Ray quite unique.

Building blocks of Rock.
BTW this record is also titled 'Well Respected Kinks'
Thanks for that little tidbit--I couldn't find it under the other title above, and wanted to buy it.

Half of this sounds like the Ramones. I can't believe these kinks were so derivative
HaHaHa, behave, the Ramones were shite.💩
Derivative? The KInks were around about 20 years before the Ramones.
Dit U ever zee them live,i idd and it was hoorible
