I was at this concert and I recall he did all the material from 'Madman Across the Water" to the best of my recollection. In my humble opinion, MATW is the finest melding of Bernie Taupins' lyrics and Elton Johns' inimitable musicianship. Taupin is a poet whose work will be heard long after I pass this way. Thank you for this little snippet of my life.
@@zigner Yes!!! Every time I saw Elton John I loved his new songs. I originally saw him in 1971 at the Greek Theater and he was introducing his Madman Across the Water album. I remember hearing Tiny Dancer and I’ve loved that song ever since. He was a musician that could introduce songs and they would be so good. I can’t say that for every artist I ever saw live but there’s something about Elton’s work that I love. And he was such a good performer too.
Hi there - please can you let me know where you found this video. I'm working on an Elton John Documentary and we would like to contact the film maker. Thank you!
@@Darrin.Crawford I agree. Add these to the many incorrect info seen in youtube comments. At 3:35 he mentions the venue or city name, but I can't make it out.
Can you identify the date or location? I saw this tour in Oakland CA, with a little cassette recorder smuggled in under my jacket, which made a lousy recording. The ONLY thing I recall about it was the opening medley of Elderberry Wine and Your Song, and this is exactly what I remember.
The recording is October 12th 1973 Murfreesboro Tennessee at the Murphy Center since at 3:34 he says good evening Nashville and Murfreesboro is a suburb of Nashville
Great footage, but just wish the person filming it would've got in a different place,so the lights wouldn't shine directly in the camera.Being a little picky,of course...Is there anymore of these?

Never heard a version of Your Song like this. He changed it so much, that I almost couldn't identify what song he was singing!
What a shame that there isn't more professionally filmed footage from this era.
This footage appears to be from Nov. 27, 1973 at Colston Hall in Bristol U.K.
Thanks for posting this ametaur recording of this show
I saw Elton John in the summer of 1973 at the Long Beach Arena in California where he debuted Goodbye Yellow Brick music.
GYBR was released in 1973, so by 1975 the songs were almost 2 years old!
@@zigner I’m sorry but I meant 1973.
@@julieannemichelle Okay, makes sense. Do you remember liking the new songs immediately? Did people head to the restrooms for the new songs?

It looks like it was shot for local news.
The legendary Hollywood Bowl concert. September 7, 1973.
This is NOT the Hollywood Bowl. Looks to be from the Sundown Theater from March 1973.
@@WayneMartinPuppets Not that show either. The Sundown show had Elton with longer hair.
