    He definitely looked bigger the year prior, started hitting his downside possibly? Great buck

      Different buck lol no way it was that big and lived 7 years after 🤣
      Average lifespan is 4.5 years.

    • @HuntNorthEast
      @HuntNorthEast 4 роки тому +3

      @@dans4270 Wrong, a buck reaches maturity at 4.5 years old. The average lifespan of a deer varies from state to state due to many outside factors including but not limited to, preditation, hunter impact (harvest), and disease. Does often are documented between 8 and 12 years old here. Bucks, if left alone, will live to 9-12 years old, again depending on this like feed, weather, and preditation. Some bucks don't start seeing a decline until 8.5 years old. I have personally persued deer that were 3.5 when I found them, or older, and documented them for up to 6 seasons after. Never underestimate your opponent.

    • @HuntNorthEast
      @HuntNorthEast 4 роки тому

      @@dans4270 Also, the ten pointer in my profile picture was aged at 2.5 and measured 137", which is uncommon but possible. Deer on plots in the midwest can grow much larger at young ages.

      There really do get better and easier to use every year. We pull so much of our info each year from trail cams. Terry keeps a huge yearly log of all the cameras on his property and Mark has a massive catalog of several years worth of images in his Reconyx app.

    We had a buck on the coal mine property where we used to hunt. We had him named "Bullwinkle" he looked like a moose. His right side had 2 main beams. His left side was palmated heavily. We never saw him in gun season and in bow season never got closer than 100 yards. Hunted him for 5 years in the mid 90's. I got to hold a right side shed that a neighbor had found. Felt like it was 10 lb.

    I've hunted deer for several years and shot them and some I didn't but, we don't have and never will have anything like that down here. I hunt Gulf Coast bucks which aren't very big but the ones I hunt are big for down here. I hunt about a 1/4 mile from the gulf in Alabama. Biggest I've taken down here is only around 130's. That being said, It's all about the hunt. And these are the hardest deer in the country to hunt, ask anybody. I usually pattern with cameras and hunt with a bow until about the last 2 weeks then the rifle comes out. I'd rather do it that way than have a piece of crap night hunter steel him away. And that happens a lot around here. We don't have near enough game wardens. Didn't mean to ramble but, it pisses me off when people act high and mighty and belittle a hunter, "a true hunter" for there efforts. I wouldn't have waited 7 years to pick up a gun.
