      This is very true. It would of made it a lot easier, not to mention safer to unlock them, specially when he was so concerned with their ability to make it after they were released. If you look at his eyes he was contemplating it.

      David Shafnacker oh im sure that there’s plenty of knuckleheads and yahoos out their that would shoot a buck that’s locked up. Same jackasses that go for head shots, road hunt, get drunk and hunt. Those type of dumbasses would!!!

    This is what I love about the DOD team, Mark you and Terry live the outdoors. This was a tribute to the love that you have for your deer and the time you spend with them. I am a wildlife photographer/sometimes hunter. I would rather photograph than take. I have friends that are deer breeders and even as a photographer/breeder I would rather see one killed than die. Memories are made in the photos and videos we acquire and when someone kills one then the meat can be consumed and a story told. This is sad for this to be his end. I salute you guys and keep up the good work!

    I'm sorry but I would have tagged out when they was locked up lol. Never even got deer half that size here. I got pics of my biggest buck ever this year hunted him hard. Was within 30 minutes of him 3 different hunts according to my camera. He went missing 3rd week of September. Pushed down towards the creek bottom to see if I could lay eyes on him in bedding area and sure enough I smelled a dead animal glassed from top of ridge and all I could see was horns and ribs I could have cried I was so sick... had to tag him to keep him but I skull mounted him. For NC he was a good deer pushing 145.... would love to have took him with my compound but God had other plans. Game warden and the biologists said probably died of ehd it hit allot of the counties around us.....

    So did the other buck ever make it?

    • @exploringcreation1354
      @exploringcreation1354 5 років тому

      Not likely. With the amount of stress he had gone through. He was physically exhausted and if that area has a high coyote population, which is increasingly common for there to be so, with it being so close to nightfall he likely laid down to rest and was snatched by them. Also with winter coming on it would be more difficult to find nutrients to gain strength back from a fight like that! It is possible though, that he did in fact survive and is still out there today. On the fact that we never hear anything about that deer in future DOD videos I'd say he's probably gone.

    I have a huge main frame 8 point I’ve been hunting for a couple years and he’s been elusive like Captain Hook. I got him a couple times in august and then for months nothing. Then mid November I got him on camera and boy he’s big . I’d say 150 plus on size, and that’s good for a 8 pointer. Anyways I tagged out Nov 3rd with the other big 8 point buck I been hunting as well that I had on cam for 3 years. But I’m hoping “buckzilla” it’s the name I named it lmao is still around 🙏. I’m gonna set out a few more cams tomorrow. I’m very happy with the buck I got this year with my bow. He will score in the mid 140s. I hunt in Indiana, and we don’t really have giant bucks like Iowa and some of the other states, but we do have some big ones in certain areas, especially around river bottoms it seems. Anyways good luck fellow hunters 🤝

    • @DruryOutdoors
      @DruryOutdoors  8 років тому

      Get a buck to come in without any lures... that's a tough one. rattling antlers imitates an aggressive buck to tempt the more dominant or territorial deer. same thing with calls... but there you can imitate dominance with a male, or call like a female to tempt in a buck that may still be looking to mate. If you're in the timber, unless you have a buck you've patterned and you have some solid insight on his path to and from food, water, and bed, you're likely going to have to do some sort of calling. If you're hunting over a known food source or travel corridor, you have a chance to get a buck without calls if you make sure you set up in range of a highly used entry/exit point. or you have planted your plot it in a way that funnels the deer to you. Good luck and be safe out there!

    So many people would have killed him when he was locked up with that other buck. Glad to see you guys didnt do that. Shows what true sportsman you guys really are.

    That would drive me nuts on end. Small home range and not even seeing him in the stand for 5 years. I’d sell all my gear lmao
