@silverfox2086 did Disney take this sht over? I'd laugh if I wasn't such a die hard Trekkie. This sucks. Dr. Who, The Acolyte, Buzz Lightyear all Disney.
As a gay man who’s from a ethnic minority background… grateful for diversity and representation… This show is TRASH. I used to watch Star Trek to escape the bullies, now it feels like it’s written by the bullies. Before it was optimistic escapism… now it’s dark, dimply-lit dystopia.

Yes, he is. And he's a far better leader than this toxic clown. And Janeway was the first female captain in a series lead. There was a black female captain and admiral in ST:TNG.
Oh, please. Really, ST:Discovery was just plain bad, filled with self-absorbed characters who were more worried about their "feelings" than about the job that needed to be done.
I seriously can't articulate my feelings, but brother dam str8. Virtue signaling chick fest of fifis and bs. I'm honestly surprised they didn't bring up roe v wade in this Sh💩!t. 😂
As a big Star Trek fan, I've forced myself to watch Discovery as the storylines for each season has been the worst in Star Trek history! This season has the chance to add some sorely needed storytelling to Discovery! But I find myself watching interpersonal relationship storylines that take up 80% of the episodes with 10% for a big chase or fight scenes, leaving only 10% for storytelling. They have turned it into a Soap Opera set in space.
Totally agree! I keep wanting to like it but it’s just so bad. They spend too much time and money on big action scenes and forget Trek is really about the exploration of the human condition. First the crew was at each other’s throats and now they are saccharine sweet They can’t get the tone right. Every shot is overly dramatic, and hardly any episode explores deep subjects like every Trek series that came before and what makes the franchise great. Glad to see this show wrapping up.
Well stated. The interpersonal relationship .. often whispering, weeping .. got old. Critical Drinker was right: storytelling in so many t.v. shows and movies ... has been drastically lacking. I come back to the 'formula': KISS (At least Strange New Worlds is coming back. Like it better.)
Same here, I am a big Trekkie but each season of Discovery is awful. Even the physics on the scenes frustrate me, and with each season the bigger the risk and bigger the enemy ships become
Love the captain, hate how bad the writing has gotten. The burn caused by tantrum boy?! 😢 So dumb. Season 5 is painful to watch. The chase is boring and they plucked the villain lady Mal out of Farscape. The characters are hyper one dimensional. For example, I would have loved to have seen good storylines with characters that just happened to be trans, but they're too busy with bashing me with being trans that it's painful to watch. The writing is just awful and not entertaining.
Yes tantrum boy killed millions but got a cuddle instead of being locked up and he’s like 100+ years old now! He should be behind a force field and put on trial but nope, it was feelings so it’s okay, I wonder how the millions of family members that lost people because of his feelings feel about him?

The fact that Star Trek Discovery has to market itself with identity politics, instead of story or character is why its finally ended. Star Trek has been garbage since its post JJ Abrams revival. None of these shows can match TNG or original.
Agreed on the JJ Abrams part. They tried hard to give this show the same visual aesthetic, but shouldn’t have. Abrams was not a Trekkie and ruined it. Why copy him? That’s why The Orville is more true to Trek than Discovery. The writing is FAR superior!
It was a bad show with a wholly unlikeable lead character. Burnham felt like she had some kind of narcissistic personality disorder, disobeyed direct orders constantly, ignored the opinions of everyone else, whether or not they outranked her, acted like a spoilt child. They tried to remedy this somewhat in the later seasons, but it was too little too late, first impressions count and the damage was done.
The only thing "groudbreaking" about this show was how much it sucked. But, I have a feeling that the writing could get even worse with the other shows under Kurtzman's guidance.
Voyager was worse. Much. Much. Worse. I say that as a person who HATES Discovery. It hurts as a Black woman to see Burnham be both so stupid that she became dangerous.
I disagree I love all the live-action shows, all have their ups and downs but I hate the fact that they get cancelled often before they reach their full potential -like enterprise. They all should get 7 seasons like the TNG ear shows. SNW is currently the best out at the moment and I hope it gets the seasons it deserves - in fact, if it goes for more than 4 seasons it may just become my new favourite. I started with TOS as a child but I don't rate it anymore as it looks too dated and it's very cheesy. I know that may get men hate but I don't care. TV is entirely subjective and each to their own. It's fun to discuss our subjective views though. Peace and long life!
@@Wedontknoweachotherr TOS was great when that was all there was, but it's not very watchable now, but yeah like I said I like the new shows but each to their own
Discovery has been a financial disaster from the beginning... Which is why it is no longer on Netflix and Picard debuted on Prime. I gave up after Season Two and have no interest in ever watching the other two seasons. SNW is decent but I look forward to the franchise being sold and going forward without any Bad Robot meddling.
@@michaelkpate Each to their own - I look forward to all the new live-action content, all very interesting, I have heard so many people whinge about Trek it's like they don't want it, Enterprise used to get shat on, but it's brilliant Use it or lose it.
After 4 seasons I have not had the desire to rewatch any of it. Completely contrary to how I feel about TNG -- which still holds its own over 30 years later. This is how I can tell that Star Trek Disco is complete garbage.
It's a romance show. Completely off star trek style. Star trek is a great sci-fi show NOT romance and especially not a constant LGBT show, I really don't care who does who but I like star trek for the ships the science the ideals of what humanity could achieve and do. The quality was wasted also on the idea that these ships can travel between planets but catch fire and sparks whenever anything happens constantly even on the bridge of all places.
It should have been cancelled 5 seasons earlier. Star Trek has always been about finding solutions that are not war - Discovery gives us a horrible racist main character who starts a war because "It's the only language Klingons understand" and goes unpunished and gets universally praised. I can't believe this is so rarely called out. A present day equivalent would be a rogue military person dropping a nuke on an African country because "It's the only language the n*****s understand". This is just not acceptable. Star Trek has always been somewhat believable - but Discovery gives us the magic mushrooms that instantly transport from any point to any other point (and yet we're supposed to believe the Federation was destroyed because all Dilithium crystals exploded - so why not just use the magic mushrooms instead? Or duplicate Romulan warp technology which for sure would have been known?) Discovery, like the horrible reboot movies, lives on special effects only (and I admit they're well done). But its writing is horrible. I watch a show fornthe writing.
As a veteran, "mutiny" is a really ugly word. Junior ranks are expected to show initiative, but they also have to be proven right if they buck command. Mutineer Mikey Spock started a whole fucking war "just because" she had feelings, her thesis of "the only way" was never adequately shown, never mind proven. She should have been drummed out of the fleet, but of course her Mary Sue familial connections are invoked (hey, how about _"nepotism is bad"_ for a message to promote?!) to not only keep her in, but land her the Captain's Chair?
After the unholy mess that was the pilot episodes, I suffered the show for the rest of the first season. I couldn't take anymore after that. Then I found about the remaining seasons, and I'm so glad I quit when I did. It only got worse.
STD arguably managed to check off a large bucket list of "groundbreaking DEI" achievements while wrapped in the candy-coated veneer of a beloved classic TV show. Too bad it forgot to prioritize being a sci-fi series actually worth watching at the same time. I feel sorry for the next show Kurtzman's going to hijack in order to continue delivering "The Message" as opposed to entertaining its audience with relevant storytelling.
I truly enjoyed Star Trek Discovery and will miss it. I hate that it is ending. I think the people who did not like it is because it did not have the same formula as other Star Trek franchises. I like that it was different from the others and was more like a soap opera with a continuation. Good luck to the cast and crew of Star Trek Discovery.
I think The show was not meant for trek fans but for people who haven't watched many old star trek movies.this is for people who wants to enter as freshers into star trek universe. I have watched only very few old star trek movies and still I liked discovery .
I don't think it is the reason people don't like it. As believe it or not, when it first came out, TNG was met with the same kind of fan dersion as Discovery is getting. However, it eventually managed to win the fanbase over. How they did it, well, that is a matter of debate, but they did it. So whatever it was, Discovery failed to do it to win over fans. Though, some glaring examples can be pointed to. The largest was by creating a prequel, they were hoping to nostalgia bait man2y of the fans instead of doing something different like say TNG did, they nostalgia baited the fans. Let me ask you this, The issue with the designs of what Discovery would deem the Klingons would it have been easier to swallow if they had a different name? As any fan will tell you, those were very clearly not Klingons, but I watched a few episodes to give the series a chance, and I didn't exactly care for it. I didn't care for it, but you did, so pleasd don't take my criticisms as those of an angey butthurt basement dweller. I wanted to present my thoughts in a clear, concise and objective manner.
@@Archangelglenn Not a problem. I agree with some of your points, for example, I did not like what they did with the Klingons either. And I hated when the Michael Burnham character in other seasons became more "human" and did not stay "Vulcan" as she had been raised. So, yeah- I get your point. Thanks for sharing.
This was the worst Syfy show I ever seen. This was not Star Trek at all. I am surprised that they are even releasing season 5. STD needs to be done and forgotten. Nobody wanted a 5th season

Strange that a ST fan isn't aware that DEI is the cornerstone of TOS. It is central to the purpose of the original series. HOW did you miss it. Also it wouldn't be relevant if ot ignored todays awakenings. It HAS to expand because a federation that will have so many species from all over the universe would HAVE to forever be reshaping itself to accomodate newness. HOW and WHY are you even a fan?????
I'm watching this series because I am an actual fan. I watched TOS when it first hit television. Diversity of characters was a given part of the series. It was never THE FOCUS. It was just there as part of the reality. There was no story in seasons 3 and 4 just a race to see how many tropes from the left could be crammed into 40 minutes. The series was good (not great) for season 1 and 2. Seasons 3 and 4 were absolute garbage, They focused on being gay and of course transgenderism not on adventure or even good story lines. Season 5 has now begun, watching episodes 1 and 2 gave me hope that the final season would be good. Hopes were dashed by episode 3 were the focus was back to the season 4 focus. Take a look at some of the critiques here. No one is saying it was the focus on DEI that made this series terrible but you can read between the lines. They are saying the series is bad, and it is. An example of much better is Strange New Worlds. Let me say one more thing that I am sure will trigger you too. SOME of the cast will continue to have long, decent or even stellar acting careers. Yeoh, Green, Jones, Fehr and Cruz will obviously be in demand for a long time. Other characters who are the focus of this series will never work consistently in larger productions again. They are one dimensional actors whose only function was to check off a box on the series writer's left wing bonifides score card.
These are people who never watched any of the new generation Star Trek and have no clue what it was about and how you write good stories. Most of them are brainwashed millennials who don't grew up in an era of out of control political correctness.
I agree with you if it wasn't named Star Trek it probably wouldn't have lost but, if it had no connections to Star Trek at all no connections to Starfleet or Star Trek in any way if it was its own entity it wouldn't be that bad of a show. But as a Star Trek show it sucks.
Yes it made history but not in the way they're saying. It was a badly written show that pretty much crapped on 5o years of television history and Canon. It was a stain on a legendary. series. Filled with unlikable characters. Alex Kurtzman has been failing upward for years. Every thing he touches dies.
.."groundbreaking" "historical"? I think I've tried to watch your notube posts before and again a misleading title, waste of time and you sound like you work for kurtzman himself. More like hysterical for noscovery was NOT true Gene Roddenberry Trek. Ok, here we go again..cbs decided it wanted to get into the streaming business so it thought, let's take a piece of it's new studio it bought which was called star trek that will have millions and millions of an already built in fan base that no matter if it's trek they will subscribe instantly, no questions asked. But their mistake to go totally opposite of GR, give it to a guy who wrote bad scifi, threw in words like federation and warp drive, slapped the name trek on it yet used it to spew his progressive liberal socialist "woke" propaganda in the face of those fans who were not as stupid as he thought for they respected how Roddenberry presented real trek with ideas and let his audience decide on their own, not push it down their throats. Cost is the reason? Yep, because it will probably take the 5 seasons just to maybe break even. At least Lower Decks and a couple or strange old worlds is worth a try, but let's not mention the failure that was picacard and the last minute cheap marketing ploy that was the 3rd season to bring back the once great next gen cast with a story that could've been told in a two hour movie..bless there hearts, they looked bored. One day hopefully we will get real star trek back on tv but not as long as it's "kurtzman's trek"! Heck, we'll take Berman at this point
I think you fine folk watched Discovery with nostalgic eyes and wanted it to be something it was never meant to be. I feel like some of you will revisit this series and see that it really wasn't meant to be canon. It was a future that by our limited understanding would seem unfathomable and ridiculous even, but the Star Trek fundamentals were there. It just never got a chance because we abhorre change and the leap into the future that Discovery took was way beyond the familiar. How did we truly expect a crew on a ship, launched way beyond their own cultural understanding to respond to such a different time/environment? They would find solace in each other and make stronger bonds with the people they must endure a harsh new environment with. All this while still maintaining the ideals of the federation. This Generation has no Trek and instead of starting their own journey with this franchise we know and love, we and they are forced to experience the same old same old with names we already know being rehashed into oblivion. I'm here for all of Trek. The good the bad and the ridiculous. The end of Discovery (pun intended) is a disappointment.
Apparently, you have never watched TOS !!. There has allways been diversity and representation in STAR TREK the only thing is THEY NEVER FORCED IT DOWN OUR THROATS !!!!!. OH! ,we were told that STD was a prequel ?. The only problem is , was , the ships and technology that they had was more advanced than the TNG .......Basically STD was , is a crappie sci-fi tv show with the name STAR TREK slapped onto it !!!! 🖖
Lol.. Old school Startrek series literally had MANY HARDCORE wokeness plots in several episodes. The woke-meter plot-wise in ST-D is LOW Compared to earlier star treks.
it's a matter of focus. In TOS there were morality tales, but they were never 'extreme left' garbage and a total absorption in THE MESSAGE, everyone's neurosis, and political correctness just gone ridiculous. All these things in Kurtzman Trek are to the total exclusion of the STORY. The writers are clearly entirely concerned with modern day hyperpolitical messaging than decent writing.
I have been a trekkie since 1965 and I don't care what anyone says. This has got to be one of the greatest star trek series in the franchise history. I am not to much into the homosexuality in it. But despite this. The action star trek flavor is off the charts. I hate to see it leave
Everything that you site as a virtue of this show is exactly what made it so damned awful and hard to watch. Previous shows had diverse crews and Captains but didn’t make it the cornerstone of each and every show like this one did. The sooner they pull the plug on this abomination the sooner it will rightly be forgotten.
The gay couple and non-binary and trans characters, drove people away, then they got rid of them and showed less of gay couples relationships clips, many came back. They should not have brought in those characters at all. It had *NOTHING* to do with Star Trek or it's various missions. I like Stemits and Culber as who they were, I didn't like their being gay. Both actors are great! I especially LOVED Tig's character Jett Reno! Her banter with everyone was *HILARIOUS!!!* Notice, her character was gay, but there was no new relationship or clips of a new relationship.
That wasn't what did it for me. It was the "make it at least 25% different" mandate (something to do with CBS copyrights vs Paramount copyrights i think). This didn't fit between ENT and TOS in any way. The Klingons were a travesty! There was no reason to make Burnham Spock's sister other than to try to boost her popularity with generations-long fans who saw nothing familiar in this series. Add to that the pay-wall of having to subscribe to their channel for that one series alone (averaging only 13 episodes per year). But the straw that broke the sehlat's back for me - their utterly slanderous re-interpretation of Tellarites!
Agreed. Doesn't make the spirit of Star Trek. No problem w/ gays, non-binary, etc., because theyé part of humaniti. My problem were the long-lasting crying dramas btwn them an others. I´m Trekie fron first J.T.Kirk and know thar sad dramas dialogs were present in low persent, but in ST Disco, ALL EPISODES are 50% somthing and 50% Soup Opera.

Star trek discovery is possibly the worst. It had everything needed to be successful but we were served a plate of melodramatic spaghetti’Os instead with lots of crying, feelings and emotions. I watched it by skipping a lot just to know the story since it’s canon. Glad it’s over.
The only ground this show, "broke", was ensuring straight white males could only play the villains. Pike and Spock were the exceptions that proved the rule, but weren't in it for long anyway. Name one straight white male on the Discovery crew, who has been in it since the first episode. You can't. In the original TOS pilot, Captain Pike commented on not being used to having women on the bridge. Strange New Worlds overcompensated by making the Enterprise a primarily female crew. I still enjoy these shows, but let's not pretend they're not feminist and LGBTQIA+ non-canon fan fiction, which are less inclusive than the previous Trek shows, all of which DID break social ground. Whether it's the first interracial kiss on TV, men wearing dresses as uniforms or having a more diverse group of captains than any other show, ever made. I'm all for more inclusive shows, but this was hardly that.
Star trek is designed to be about a hopeful, productive, adventurous and amiable future. Present star trek has become a reflection of this present discombobulated, unprricipal world.

Paramount cannot support too many shows. Strange New Worlds is getting very high reviews and Discovery has very low critical reviews on Rotten Tomatoes with audience reviews very low on average, while critic reviews are higher. Season 5 of Discovery going episodic stories like SNW is likely to be better than the overly long full season story arches that drag on a lot. Possibly Discovery has just run its course to mixed reviews while SNW has solid reviews.
Do you know who is in charge of SNW. Alex Kurtzman who is the franchise killer. Each season of SNW is getting worse. Nobody is bothering to talk about it but nobody cares about the Alex Kurtzman version of Star Trek.
It did not take long for it to become readily apparent that STD was shallow in the writing department, had bad plots, and was female centric. Males BAD. Women GOOD! I watched the first season with hope, the 2nd saw me going, YUP, just like every other Identity Politics, Woke SJW, D(I)E show and movie. One to Beam up Captain, No Intelligent Life on this show.
Disco should had been cancelled after season 1! It's problem is and always has been is that it's too gay. Over-representation of that does not represent what we are today. Plus they make up the story to fit the agenda. Spock has a sister? And she's black? Where in Star Trek has that ever been true. It's totally stupid! And to keep pounding their message speaks of an agenda. So please don't tell me how great it is when there's true Trek fans that think it's nothing but agenda fillled garbage!
Michael Burnham was adopted by Spock’s parents, Sarek & Amanda, when her parents were (seemingly) murdered by the Klingons. Her and Spock were never presented as being biologically related.
Star Trek discovery is a wasted opportunity and a lot of wasted money. I have tried to find something to like about Discovery I like the show production values and the design of the ships even the look of the show is intriguing. My biggest issue is that the writing is so abysmal unfortunately and it just takes me right out of the story.
Discovery has elements of star trek. However its attempt to rebrand for "modern audiences" has only shown us, that CBS is unable to manage this IP. It would be better to sell it, before the franchise dies. CBS is doing what Disney has done to star wars. Amazon to lord of the Rings, netflix to the Witcher et al. Thankyou Black Rock, Vanguard, and State Street. Your forceful push of DEI on the studios - has effectively neutered them.
I decide for myself whether something is wasting my time, I don't need a UA-cam video blog for that. No matter what the reviews say here, I'm totally excited about the new Star Trek Discovery season and I feel the same way about the new season of Strange new Worlds. In other words, I don't give a damn fuck about Star Trek reviews. People listen far too much to bullshit reviews instead of making up their own minds.
oh My, let me guess. Terrible season 4, too may woke actors, way too much crying, Bad story lines, Inconsistent details, WAY too many female ...hmmm Hero's, are they really hero's??? Advertisers seeing that based on TOS this show's only connection, is the title. I am seeing hundreds of thousands of young girls rushing back to the original Barbie so they can get a real job where no matter how many promotions you get you don't have to cry, complain, connive or back stab every other person in your realm to get the job done. Despite the film already used, shot and in the books? maybe just cancelling it before it airs would be the best thing to happen to Star Trek the Franchise. This comes from a 60 year veteran of Star Trek , who's one and only letter to Hollywood was to not cancel the original series. Long live "good STAR TREK" not this mmm crap.
A lot of stuff I like about discovery, but yeah, even the destruction of the future Federation was 'cause an alien was all up in his feelings cryin' about sh*t. Jeez man.
Best thing happening is the end of DISCO. A horrible show led by a horrible actor. Michael Burnham never connected with me like Ben Sisko did. All I can say is bye bye!
BS on all of this, First Black lead character on Star trek was Cisco from DS9, first black Captain, Sisco's love interest Gates, DS9. That said, Star Trek Discovery was just a rip off, of a great many others literary and artistic works.
The show was trash, literally ran out of money dor S3 and has been the worst rated show by fans. Love the excuse though they're cutting costs so they canceled one of there flagship and most "popular shows". Brain rot plots, still have no idea what his original contract wording was and why they renegotiated it. But it's all a great success
It sucked on every level, starting with the Gumby Klingons and that weird irrational “black alert” technology. Strange New Worlds is what Discovery should have been, and everyone at CBS had to face that.
Why does Discovery keep presenting references to past Star Trek series? It's almost as if the series can't stand on its own and has to refer to something bigger and better. It can't compete with those other shows. I know other Star Trek series has referenced others but nowhere near as much as Discovery. Star Trek Discovery is a mere shadow of every other series. I gave it a chance but it failed miserably.
STD is the best Star Wars show I've ever seen!! But what got me was that no matter how bad the situation was there was ALWAYS time for a scene where "you didnt say good morning to me at the replicator today and that hurt my feelings and I need to talk about it and you need to acknowledge how that made me feel."
I think Star Trek discovery is a failure, for story writing and casting in general although I do think the lead actress Sonequa is very talented, The show needed better writers who respected the star trek IP, and better casting as so many of the characters are awful and wouldn't be in Star fleet.
Was like a bad relationship or the love boat. At first, it was exciting and new, come aboard we’re expecting you, but was never what I wanted, other than the name Star Trek in it. After several break ups in seasons one and two, by mid season 3 I got the courage to walk away and never look back.
@@john-leninSpeaking of douches.... BTW its viewership was incredibly low. It's a seriously awful show concerned only about identity politics. It's not Star Trek in any way but name. Just horrible.
Funny they said the same thing about STTNG. Then DS9 and then Voyager and then Enterprise. What a waste of a generation you guys are. Intolerant, unimaginative followers who don't have an original thought but have entitled opinions. You are the ones who are Woke. And you are too conceited to realize it. Just say you don't like the show. You have not earned the qualifications to judge what is good and what is appreciated by others.
Their cancelling this show because it's boring, highly political, and hates men. Calling men stupid. The story line needs a Benjamin Sisco vibe! I like Michael Burnham, the way she fights in the 1st seasons, after the 2nd it just gets boring. It doesn't feel like Star Trek after season 2, it feels like a soap opera. Borrrriiiinngggg!!!
Don't give them any ideas! Next thing you know Burnham & co. will go into the Bajoran wormhole, meet the Prophets... and discover that Sisko is now a woman!
Another season thrown in the trash. It's all about Michael Burnhan. Nothing else is explored. You don't see the interior of the Nog, Kirk, Wonder, Saturn, Voyager J class ships that were presented 2 seasons ago. Nobody knows anything about the other crew members who appear on the bridge: there are no stories to develop the characters, their past, their preferences, hobbies, fears and uncertainties, nothing. There's only room for Jesus Burnhan. All the useless dialogues, all the stories, all the miraculous solutions to all the problems, all the mysteries are hers. This makes the other characters so useless that if you remove them, they won't even be missed in the main plot. It's a one-person show. Selfish, dull. Total waste of time. It's the complete opposite of Strange New Worlds, which has excellent stories and unforgettable characters. As for Discovery, I painfully watch the episodes, skipping ahead and skipping the dialogues to see if there's anything interesting left, something genuine from Star Trek... if there's even 1% left, it's a lot.
I just cancelled Paramount streaming since Star Trek Discovery finale and show cancellation. It's not the best Star Trek but still a Star Trek show and was getting better
the starting scene of season 5 is cringy af with M. Burnham cowboying on top of starship is totally annoying. I'm really starting to hate Black actors now, their acting is just pure annoying these days
Have you ever watched Deep Space Nine? Avery Brooks is excellent as Benjamin Sisko throughout all seven seasons of that show. And he's a black actor who's earned the right to sit in that captain's chair! DS9 is Star Trek at it's best!
I got 20 minutes into Ep 1 Season 1. That was all it took. Same, apparently for my friend Richard Arnold (Gene Roddenberry's archivist & consultant on TNG). He sat down to watch STD with his legal pad (as he did with all new Trek), and after 20 minutes he had 4 pages of notes, then gave up.
STD has a young-adult, unprofessional, too-woke, emotionally immature, annoyingly toddler-based set of characters. In each and every episode they constantly start to jabber on the semi-wise choices we all must make to become the Huey, Dewey, and Louie they all want to be. Even in extreme time-critical situations, they start to tell eachother how much they appreciate their friendship. It's more than unbelievable; it's unconvincing how a crew can function when every moment they start to sob and exchange pubescent wisdom. The word disappointing doesn't cover it - it's an affront to each and every serious sci-fi series ever made. The eye-candy is nice, but the characters, conversations, decisions, plots & plot twists, and relationships are shameful to any self-respecting writer in this genre.
The dark truth is that it was one of the worst shows ever written and an embarrassment to the Star Trek franchise. It had no identity, no direction, no creativity, no respect for the franchise and no IQ. It was a vegetable since it was born and we are finally pulling the plug
: STD was a train wreck from the start, which is why they brought made such a drastic switch into S2. Then it spawned SNW, which overshadowed the Discovery cast with next to no effort. It was just all around better, in terms of characters and writing. SNW buried STD. Most everything this video says was so great is fluff, nothing more.
I've watched every series of ST and this is the only show that has made me feel like it was a waste of time. It had such promise but never fulfilled it's potential. It had some awful plot lines and was simply boring. The real crime of the series is that it didn't make viewers want to watch every episode with eager anticipation.
I believe the real reason is because of Captain Burnham is why it's being canceled look at some of the comments in here self-absorb these are fictional people that follow a storyline and they act like these people making up their lines as they go That's just absolutely insane in itself
Season 4 got extremely bad with shoving the woke down our throats. Star Trek has always pushed the discussion about social issues and that was a good thing. At the same time, they allowed the audience to form their own thoughts on what was discussed. Star Trek Discovery shoves it down your throat and gives the unspoken directive that you must comply. I stopped watching in season 4 when the ship computer started having feelings and they had to talk it into doing its job because it was afraid during a life and death situation. WTH? I wanted to love it, but eventually fast forwarded through half the show due to over emotional scenes and wokeness.
We can only hope the current era of brainless identity politics and anti-Trump pearl clutching will end, or CBS will be bought out by someone who actually likes Star Trek.
Are we not going to discuss how underwhelming, divisive, and uneven Discovery has been? Or the fact that it took three seasons to be a proper ensemble drama? Even fans of the series need to be honest with themselves that Discovery has often prioritized diversity and representation over good storytelling and character development. I will miss it, but the show has never really reached the level of status of prior or subsequent entries.
So you are saying good story telling and writing and diversity can not be synonymous. Besides the show was set in the 23rd century and later the 32nd century. It would have been so sad and pathetic if mankind had brought all his discriminations, prejudices, biases and bigotry that far into the future. Diversity was necessary for the setting.
This video is lame. Money isn't the reason at all. It's simply because the show sucks. It is literally the worst Star Trek series ever made. Don't believe me? Google it. Just Google "I hate star trek discovery" and you will see why the show got cancelled. A majority of it's viewers can't stand the show. And the only reason we watch it is because it's Canon. It will tie in and has already tied into plenty of other series and movies. So, we kind of have to watch it even though we hate it.
‘Dark truth?’ Click bait!

I saw them all several times and realize that in almost all of them the premise was (around), give or take, 50% Adventure/Action/Specs-Effects, 20% Fun, 30% Drama/Personal issues. Besides, I know for sure, that some episodes have/must be included, and that they do not do the essence of all series and are soft/irrelevant/light-hearted. And I understand that must be like this.
What I do not understand is why Discovery has been 35% Action/Specs-Effects, 5% Fun and 60% (Sixty percent!) Dramas/Philosophical Dramas/Interracial Dramas/Non-Binary Dramas. In fact, almost All episodes of Discovery are Half Soap Operas, with endlessly crying dialogues and that’s not the spirt of STAR TREK.
Last, but not least, is the fact of Leadership and Team. Even each Captain is THE principal roll, in almost all episodes of different Star Trek they move as a solid group. In case of Discovery I’ve noticed that all is around Burnham and perhaps she’s the same character of “Sasha” in The Walking Dead, which Burnham called (Quote) “A team player on the Outside, but a loner on the Inside” (Unquote). And before some clueless delusional treated me as a phobic of some kind, I’m born in Argentina and raised by my Immigrant Grandparents and Parents with great open minds.
I stopped watching STD at Season 2, that "Red Queen" thing at the end was laughable.

@@Bran_Redmaw Agreed. Take the money from Discovery and make more Strange New Worlds episodes
Yep. Ditched Netflix and, soon, Prime. Give me reruns ofTOS-Enterprise (and perhaps some of STW characters).
What's TNG
Or duplicate Romulan warp technology which for sure would have been known?)
Discovery, like the horrible reboot movies, lives on special effects only (and I admit they're well done). But its writing is horrible. I watch a show fornthe writing.

This Generation has no Trek and instead of starting their own journey with this franchise we know and love, we and they are forced to experience the same old same old with names we already know being rehashed into oblivion.

it's a matter of focus.
@ROB M . AMEN BROTHER,
I could not have said it better myself!!!. 🖖
Thanks for the shit eating InCel perspective! Now crawl back into your grandmother's basement.
It is a WOKE conduit.
It is lucky to even have been on TV ... It is SO awesome to see it leave!
Not sure if it's dark or not -- but this show is terrible. Embarrassingly bad for the franchise on so many fronts.
@@danielvukosich1194Star trek is a space Opera, drama is needed, but shakspearean drama, it needs quality. There is so much Shakespeare in Star trek , new trek is missing that Level of quality writing drama. New trek is more shameless (the TV Show- not my style and not Star trek style) then hunt for red Oktober.
This video is almost as bad as Star Trek Discovery.
I'm not the only one who is going to be happy to see STD gone. I'm not the only one who well say that Star Trek is going to be better after Discovery ends.
Adira and Gray are insufferable characters. I really hope star trek is done with this experiment
Star trek discovery is possibly the worst. It had everything needed to be successful but we were served a plate of melodramatic spaghetti’Os instead with lots of crying, feelings and emotions. I watched it by skipping a lot just to know the story since it’s canon. Glad it’s over.
The only surprise is how this steaming pile didn’t get canned after just 1season let alone 5. Good riddance to objectively bad trash
This was propaganda pure and simple.
I don't watch Fox or CNN either.
Star trek is designed to be about a hopeful, productive, adventurous and amiable future. Present star trek has become a reflection of this present discombobulated, unprricipal world.
How is this crew still alive? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This show should have been called Star Trek WTF? 😃 👍
Kate Mulgrew/Janeway, has been one of the best rolls in Star Trek sagas.
That stated, the point from my side, is that in Discovery they forced many situations which, in my case that grew up with James T. Kirk (I'm 66 yo), I´d not interest at all.
TV 's Enterprise Kirk, Picard, Sisko, Janeway, Archer. Movies 6 Kirk, 4 Picard and 3 New Kirk (Great roll of Chis Pine, top brass selection). Stream Discovery Lorca/Pike/Saru/Burnham (never seen so many in same ship), ST Picard, New Words/Short Treks Pike.
For me is the same White/Black/Yellow/Pink/Green or whatever colour/race see or interact with.
Now I’ll purchase "The animates series", "Lower Decks" and "Prodigy" for my grandsons. Need them to start thinking a little more than the Argentine schools use to teach.
Even SNW is total garbage. They literally gave us one pretty good first episode, then switched back to STD style crap since then.
@@Christobanistan cry more or grow up. SNW is one of the best shows out there.
@@koynov333 Says no one.
Better show by far
It did not take long for it to become readily apparent that STD was shallow in the writing department, had bad plots, and was female centric.
Males BAD. Women GOOD!
I watched the first season with hope, the 2nd saw me going, YUP, just like every other Identity Politics, Woke SJW, D(I)E show and movie.
One to Beam up Captain, No Intelligent Life on this show.
So, the "DARK Truth" Why Star Trek Discovery is ENDING After Season 5 IS... it costs too much?!?
"Great" writing as usual.
😂😂 adoption. I used the fast forward button for the rainbow people. It was too much.
stop calling this crap star trek
It absolutely IS trek. Its got some problems but its trek down to its DNA. But they are working to fix those problems in earnest
The executive producers look exactly how I envisioned them.
Exactly. I agree
Then you have no taste.
Curious. Why did you post your opinion? If you think people should avoid reviews and make up their own mind...
@@thunderwalker5827 I have not seen the review, but only read the comments.
I watched it and it is bad. It us ilke stephen kings writing, 20% amazing stuff, 20% meehhh and 60% garbage. So in the end bad.
5 seasons is good enough that’s a good number of seasons to tell a story
oh My, let me guess.
Jeez man.
Star Trek The Wrath of Wokeness?
You said it!
This show was just obnoxiously in your face "woke" and was just wayyy too much even for me who is pretty liberal.
I hate the woke shit on it. Gays and Trans have no place anywhere
Lol.... If u know about Startrek series then u should know it has ALWAYS been "wokeness" .😂😂😂
List all treks that are woke like Discovery.
Best thing happening is the end of DISCO. A horrible show led by a horrible actor. Michael Burnham never connected with me like Ben Sisko did. All I can say is bye bye!
Im not a big “lower decks” fan but the crossover with SNW was good and the musical turned out class
How do we get to this Discovery crap
BS on all of this, First Black lead character on Star trek was Cisco from DS9, first black Captain, Sisco's love interest Gates, DS9. That said, Star Trek Discovery was just a rip off, of a great many others literary and artistic works.
What they actually said was that she was the first FEMALE Black Lead as a Star Trek Captain
This show has so many potential but ruined by the LGBTQ & Feminist ideology star trek Discovery is giving us STD
Sucks!I prefer watching fan-made productions...
STD is the best Star Wars show I've ever seen!! But what got me was that no matter how bad the situation was there was ALWAYS time for a scene where "you didnt say good morning to me at the replicator today and that hurt my feelings and I need to talk about it and you need to acknowledge how that made me feel."
"The DARK Truth Why Star Trek Discovery is ENDING After Season 5"
Because, so far, every season has sucked.
I couldn't even get through the first episode of season 5. It was just bad.
I can't count how many times i rolled my eyes 🙄 watching these episodes 😩
RIIIIIGHHHHTTTT. Like REALLY
I think Star Trek discovery is a failure, for story writing and casting in general although I do think the lead actress Sonequa is very talented, The show needed better writers who respected the star trek IP, and better casting as so many of the characters are awful and wouldn't be in Star fleet.
Dark Truth? I thought it was because it was a badlywritten show that has the worst rating in all star trek history?
Was like a bad relationship or the love boat. At first, it was exciting and new, come aboard we’re expecting you, but was never what I wanted, other than the name Star Trek in it. After several break ups in seasons one and two, by mid season 3 I got the courage to walk away and never look back.
Ha ha ha ha ha! Discovery isn't for douches.
I had exactly the same experience.
Dark Truth. STD was utter crap. I watched two episodes, that was MORE than enough for me.
What good is diversity when no one wants to watch 😢 I am a huge star trek fan 40 years now but this show sucked
Thank God it's gone....
Good ol Rick Dees and telling us what's happening with Discovery
I just cancelled Paramount streaming since Star Trek Discovery finale and show cancellation. It's not the best Star Trek but still a Star Trek show and was getting better
"flawed fallible hero to root for"
Nothing more wrong has ever been uttered
the starting scene of season 5 is cringy af with M.
With all the hate, ALL StarTrek should come to an end.
They broke down so many barriers.... everyone hated it.
The eye-candy is nice, but the characters, conversations, decisions, plots & plot twists, and relationships are shameful to any self-respecting writer in this genre.
wasn't she always the captain. She seemed to act like it from the get go and everybody followed along.
The dark truth is that it was one of the worst shows ever written and an embarrassment to the Star Trek franchise. It had no identity, no direction, no creativity, no respect for the franchise and no IQ. It was a vegetable since it was born and we are finally pulling the plug
Based on sensor information the ships library computer has determined that Star Trek Discovery was cancelled because it sucked.
Damn shame. The star trek series.
Sprinkling glitter on a turd doesn't make it anything more than a turd
I'm just happy it's over.
Why? You could have stopped watching it any time including day 1 and been happier a lot sooner.
*Star Trek Must NEVER die !!! Best show in all of history... it's EPIC !!!*
Paramount gave us a STD that only made me appreciate Enterprise.
