    Thanks for the great video! Just wanted to add a note on upwind and downwind conventions..traditionally airport runway designers place runway direction based on the prevailing winds at a particular location..this was particularly essential in the pre-jet era, where propeller driven aircraft could use all the lift they could get..With modern jets and their awesome power, it's less important..this is reflected in the FAA's rule that if winds are over 10 knots, atc redirects traffic to a different takeoff/landing pattern..for example, the closest airport to where I live is Burbank airport in california..they have 2 runways, 15/33 and 26/8..daily runway 15 is used for takeoffs and 26 for landings..when winds blow from the north at more than 10 knots (13 mph) 33 is used for takeoff and 15 for landing..So the upwind/downwind traffic pattern is reversed

    Great vid m8, nice and simple not overly complicated. I know the basics are the same but maybe another ILS vid in the 747 as the controls are different....just an idea. Also I find that when using the speed and altitude buttons sometimes more often then not they dont do what you instruct....like I would have the airspeed set and the plane does its own thing and I get overspeed....overspeed warnings etc.

    Point of correction: by the time the glideslope indicator reaches the yellow line, it's already too late. Best habit is to activate approach as soon as aircraft is stabilized on the LOC and flying level. That way the autopilot begins a gradual descent at the right time. If you activate approach at the yellow line, the autopilot will have a lot of work to do in a very short amount of time, and it will nosedive rapidly, making passengers uncomfortable, and will have to make a lot of micro-adjustments.

    It's a shame your not using a yoke/joystick, and pedals, but I did find this tutorial very useful. I would like to try just doing some circuits around my local airport, with ILS approach, and maybe try some touch & go's, although I'm not certain on the proper procedure for that, but I'm willing to try it out.

    • @Decivye
      @Decivye  3 роки тому

      Yeah kinda sucks that I dont have the tools but dont worry in time I will have it things are just tight right now due to the pandemic. Doing practice circuits is very helpful for improving your ILS landings. I remember when I first started doing ILS thats how I would practice. In real life I did circuits on a PA-28 and I can tell you that you climb upwind until 500ft then turn to crosswind, climb to 1000ft and turn downwind, hold at 1000ft, when you make your base turn start descending to 800ft, then turn final and land the aircraft. Not sure the real life procedure for the a320 but I normally fly my downwind leg at 5000ft. Happy flying :)

    • @Shaunus82
      @Shaunus82 3 роки тому

      @@Decivye I only have a cheap Hotas X joystick, which does the job, but I did manage to buy the cheaper Thrustmaster TFRP rudder pedals, which I think are great. I would guess that the procedure for touch & go/go-around would be to push throttle to TOGA, raise landing gear & raise flaps to stage 2, (but I'm not sure if this automatically disengages your approach mode, or, if you have to do this manually), and then climb the aircraft to your selected altitude, and either follow the runway pattern, or follow a missed approach procedure on a chart.

    • @Decivye
      @Decivye  3 роки тому

      flaps are the panels on the wings of the aircraft that retract and detract during take off and landing. On take off flaps helps generate lift at a certain setting and for landing flaps generate drag to help slow down the plane and as well as decreases the stall speed. I had my flaps increase set to 6 and decrease set to 7

    Hi, it is a great video. I have a question. When you are entering your ILS frequency you have entered the frequency of 109.90 for your arrival destination. I have found that the airports are giving ATIS, Permission and a Tower frequency. Which one you have selected when entering these details in that part of your landing preparations?

    • @Decivye
      @Decivye  3 роки тому +1

      Glad you enjoyed the video! To answer your question when setting up the ILS all you need to worry about is setting ILS frequency for arrival and nothing more. Tower frequencies are controlled through the ATC box so you do not really need to enter anything aside from that ILS frequency. This is when you are flying in microsoft flight simulator, when talking about real life flying you would need to set tower frequencies in the COMS and ILS through FMC from what I know :)

  • @twinsy67
    @twinsy67 3 роки тому

    Question: The reverse thrust (I can't bind the keys for it) , do you have to do it yourself or is it activated by triggering the speedbreak?
    Also when you clicked out the autothrottle your autopilot stopped working simultaniously, it doesn't do that when I click out my autothrottle.
    The autopilot stays active and so my plane is gaining speed during landing , preventing me to land. So I suppose I have to shut the AP manually myself?
    Sofar I had the best result on landing ever by following you tutorials, it is so cool leaving the clouds and you see the landingway right infront of you, thank you for that.

    • @Decivye
      @Decivye  3 роки тому +1

      No the autopilot disengages automatically when the back wheels of the plane touch on the runway. So when I deactivated autothrottle my autopilot was still on. As for reverse thrust you need to set your decrease thrust and basically you activate reversers by just decreasing the thrust leavers all the way back :)

    • @JohnSmith-lx7hl
      @JohnSmith-lx7hl 3 роки тому

      Ideally yes, but I found that to be incosistent depending on the airport. I always plan a full IFR plan from Departing Gate to Arrival Gate. And in between is set the departure and arrival patterns as well as the ILS runway I want on Approach. Most of the time, the frequencies are set in the radio. But a few other airports I flew into, didn't have the frequency ready. So I had to enter them in manually. But this is me flying the 787 though. My only problem with that is, sometimes the ATC didn't give me the right altitude assignment in time to make it to the runway, or that once I touch down, it's always bouncing.

    Hi! Nice video. Just one question. Why everytime I desactivate auto throttle around the 100 feet when I am about to landing the aircraft starts going higher instead of keep going down to the runway? I have the Throttle in CLB so do I have to put it in auto before deactivated auto throttle?

    • @Decivye
      @Decivye  3 роки тому +1

      You dont need to deactivate the auto throttle. You just need to put the levers on idle and disengage autopilot to control the plane manually. :)

I am on final, full stage of flaps, landing velocity(around 145knots), speed brake, set,appr mode on, when the aircraft is about to touch the ground I disengage the auto pilot but the aircraft stops going down and start climbing making me miss the landing when I am just about to thouchdown.
