Yes thanks, this video has been a great help. My short test flight from Edinburgh to Glasgow was a success after I realised that I need to manually select a ILS approach in the flight planner screen, previously I’d been using the auto approach setting and wondering why it wasn’t navigating correctly.
@@sneeks brilliant news! We do have a guide for flight planning on the channel if you need it. But it sounds like you’ve got things worked out now. Well done getting the plane down, it’s harder than it looks!
I had a successful flight from San Antonio to New York. Landed safely at LaGuardia, made my way to the gate, connected the jetway and killed power to the aircraft. Your landing tips worked perfectly! Thank you!
This is genuinely such a good tutorial I couldn’t really understand other ones but this one was very detailed and explained throughly just enough for starters I had a really smooth landing and approach and was so satisfying
I was trying to figure out to fly the A320, and this guide was by far the best one that touches the most crucial parts in able to fly. Great tutorial mate!
I'm 2yrs late on this vid but is the best explanation for us that ain't at that hardcore sim level. Very easy to understand and I'm absolutely grateful for what u do
Just watched the three A320 tutorials and it really helps a lot. From Vancouver to Seattle with a smooth landing finish! Best tutorial and easy to understand. It's my first time playing it on a cold start as well. I'll be watching the startup for a while until i memorized all the switches. Thanks for this bro!
Another tip, make sure your throttles are lined up with the climb detent. It is the first little arrow on the throttle labelled either CL or CLB. When you see the LVR CLB message flashing on the display screen, move it to that position. Despite it's name, the position will mange the throttle for the entire flight, including descent and approach. Then you just pull back to idle to land
Thanks to your amazing tutorial, I have just made my first perfect landing and bang on the centre line. You made that so easy. Your a star and I am well chuffed !!
Mate, your videos are - in my humble opinion - the best on UA-cam. Explained at every step, shown exactly what to do and what to look out for (other videos I found too complicated or, skipping information). I just successfully imputed my ILS flight plan from LFPG, Paris to EGLI, London at nightime (live weather/time and I was up late). Followed your other cracking video that got me up and in the air and this one got me down safely, back in good 'ole Blighty. From a happy Birkenhead lad, thanks very much 👍😊👍 🇬🇧
@@FishStakes One question, mate: I watched a pilot trainee video for ILS A320 landing (linked below) and after he pressed the LS button, he then pressed LOC and APPR before the diamonds had intersected on the heading/altitude. Is that possible in MSFS? Would it still work? Ta 👍 ua-cam.com/video/LIaMALJjOEc/v-deo.html
This was yet another amazing explanation, agreed that ATC doesn't give you enough time to land or when you see your close and want to start descending, they tell you to maintain your flight level lol!
agree. FlyJV (youtube) has a great video where you can catch a bunch of tips. He is an Airbus 1st officer. One tip he gave was to figure out the top of the descent, multiply your altitude by 3 and add 12-that is the number of miles from the airport to start a 3 degree descent.
I learned more about landing via ILS than pretty much every other video I've watched. I took off from RJAA -> RJCC landed perfectly, took a few attempts.
This was amazing! Worked first time for a different route, will take a while to get the controls down to memory but for now I'll be using these videos for every flight :) Its so hard as a beginner and overwhelming with all the controls especially on xbox but you've made it so easy to do a complete flight, so thank you!
I firstly always landed and approached manually, then switched to the 747. I watched the 747 ils video and didn’t really manage to get the descent right. This video has helped me find out when to descent and how to perfectly land. Thx for the video
Finished my flight from Munich to London on EasyJet thx for the helpful tutorials my buggy internet was annoying but still managed to land the bird safely thx again
explained absolutely brilliant just done my first pretty neat landing, got on ils and the approach really well, thanks man now to perfect it!! also watched some of your other videos on setting up flight planning, taking off, and setting up the first flight, i wouldnt be in the virtual skies without you man thankyou so much
Just landed my first flight and it was soft but my autopilot broke at like 2000 ft so I took over thanks man wouldn’t have been able to do it without your vids
Man, you're a great instructor. thank you for doing that. I'm going to try my first ILS landing today after I get out of work. Wish me a good landing. 🙂
I've been using PC for years to play games and I recently bought an Xbox and discovered this channel. Your content is very good especially your MSFS videos, I learned a lot. Thank you. Greeting from Türkiye.
Yo man, thank to you, I spawned in manchester, set up the fl plan with ur tutorial, started the aircraft with YOUR tutorial, took off and flew to helsinki with your tutorial, and Landed there with YOUR tutorial, I learned everything from you LOL
Game changing! I’m brand new to MSFS - got an Xbox X and Velocity Flight Yoke just to learn how to sim - and after many botched nav and landing attempts started thinking if I’d wasted my cash!! (I’m not a ‘gamer’ by any means). But this video and your other A320 vids have helped massively! Just completed the same Manchester-Helsinki flight, now going to attempt to figure out another leg on my own… can’t thank you enough!
@@FishStakes I tried the EGCC-EFHK route one more time, and nailed the landing during a snow storm & zero visibility between 2000 until 800 feet! Proves your training works even in the worst weather 😁 I did get cocky and leave live weather on too, realised my error and just went with it!
You make things so damn simple. Just straight up what to do and when you need to do it. I can actually control this aircraft and move on from the Cessna… thank you so much!
I used ils when I landed in Munich. It was my first time using ils and the Munich visibility was extremely low. I thought the ils was going to smack me right into the ground, but it glided down perfectly and I landed the best I have in msfs 2020. Thanks Fishstakes!
Would you happen to know why my ILS “magenta diamonds” won’t appear? Every time I turn on the LS system button when I’m flying towards the runway the magenta diamonds never appear even up until the point to where I know that the runway is right in front of me… Would you happen to know why?
so i have never in my flight sim days used all this stuff u have done in your last 3 videos... im a pc user and have followed your instructions from the simbrief video to the fms video now this one.. and yeah i managed to do what the plane is meant to do.. thank you for explaining things for total beginners.. unlike most of the other videos out their.. they seem to think u have half a clue.. new lease of life here now.. top class and im gona watch the rest of your videos..
Finally, so thankfully, the first try after this video was perfect. i was always struggling, but now, I was very calm after the first time i tried after this video
This is fun, I was making the glorius approach on Guayaquil airport and a plane just get over me and I had to do a go around but the tutorial was really great, congrats, new sub!

Had to comment - ive NAILED my ILS Landings thanks to this video. Other videos spoke at a level far too complex, or missed out key bits of information (ie - you have to bisect the line with the magenta diamonds). Cheers @FishStakes Excellent video
Ive watched a lot of videos on descent and ILS landings. While I have learned a lot from others as well, your video was very straightforward, and actually simplified the process making all of the information needed for a successful landing very clear. After watching your video last week for the first time, I made a successful landing into KBOS. Watched it again, along with another video, and again made a successful ILS into KSTL. So two for two this week. Prior to that it was a mixed bag….lol. Thanks
