Actually the story the guide told you is not fully right. The story is: Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo emerged from Titicaca lake and the God sun gave them a gold bar and told them to walk and when the bar sunk thats the place where the Inca empire would be at. They started to walk as they were told to and the bar sunk over the Huanacaure mountain. Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo didn't stop anywhere, look around and said here we'll found the Empire here.
One of the best days yet. Crazy to think we were at the origin of Cusco. Where it all began long ago.

Have u guys thought about a series of children's books 'The adventures of Mr Potato Head' ? Alex could do the illustration, you could use lots of locations around Cusco...the town, the markets ,meeting other dogs, educating children along the way, translated into Spanish... Just thought it would be a lovely way to remember your time with him ! Safe travels! 🌈
That’s actually an amazing idea. It would be perfect. I wish we had more time to work on more projects. Right now we have our hands full. Alex has always wanted to write a book though.

Yeah we don’t understand it either ha. But it’s always going to be that way. There are one or two people who always dislike our video within the first 30 minutes. Like they wait for it to come out just to dislike it! Ha.

Thanks! As a Peruvian leaving abroad I rarely get to see those places that I learned about since I was a little child. Huanacaure is indeed the place where according to legend the mythical Manco Capac founded the Inca empire. It's good that you went there with a professional tour guide. In Peru the mountains are considered Apus (living entities) by the natives. Huanacaure is a sacred Apu. Thanks again for the outstanding video.

The Andes. What a sight. Never knew about this place, but all Peruvians know the legend of Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo founding Cuzco. They emerged from Lake Titicaca, the legend goes.
It’s truly a treat to see Cuzco with few or no other tourists. Also, you guys are in excellent shape to hike at that altitude. I doubt you have any bad energy to leave behind. ;-)

@@lindseyfw2903 Have you notice how beautiful you guys look when the sunset light hits your faces??? In photography, that part of the day is called the golden hour. I can give you guys a ton of tips for making better videos and taking great photographs. I am not kidding.
👍 Those Places have been sacred during thousands of years, even before the Inca Civilization arrived. If we have the "ability" to sincronize our own frequency with the vibration of those place, the feeling of peace and love in inmense. What is really interesting about Peru is not only the Inca, but IMHO The Pre-Incas. It is all the group of people that was living there during hundreds or thousand of years as Paracas, Moches, Chimus, Nazcas, Chiribaya, Chachapoyas, Chavin de Huantar, Caral, Chankas, etc
History is written by the victors... or the survivors.

You guys are amazing to have taken Mr. Potatohead up to the mountain for him to experience the other world than the tough city life he had been put in for long! He was born there so he seemed to be used to the high altitude more than you are!
We are glad to have shown him a few amazing things! He probably just spent his life in the plazas close to people and food. Must have been amazing to see nature and far off places
The legend is that Manco Capac and Mama Okllo came out from Titikaka lake and walked with a bar until they found a place where it could be inserted in the ground which would mean it was fertile and therefore they could stay there.

Hey guys, this was a great experience for you, i was honestly surprised by the location you went to because as you've said, is not a known tourist location to go to, even though, any peruvian kid that remembers Elementary school history will know what Huanacaure is precisely because of the legend of Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo. I had a cool second of being transported back to school and talking about that, it was great. Thank you for showing us that experience :)

According to the account of Spanish chronicler Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa, a new human group entered the Valley of Cuzco through the mountain called Huanacaure.
The word Huanacaure is in the Puchina language (originally from the Pucara Culture, located in Puno, in the north-western sector of the Lake Titicaca basin).
In the Puchina language Huanacaure means Rainbow🌈. Then it was that the Incas arrived in Cuzco.

The most important huaca outside of the temples of the sky gods
was Huanacauri (WANAKAWRI), a spindle-shaped unwrought stone on
Huanacauri hill near Cuzco, which was believed to represent one of
Manco Capac’s brothers (see Cobo, 1890-95, bk. 13, ch. 25; Rowe,
1944) and was a special protector of the Inca royal family and a prominent feature in the maturity rites of the Inca youth.
Must've been so nice to be up there away from everybody!....Great views. Mr. Potato looked really at home with that back drop :-)

Jejeje.....we learned in Elementary school la leyenda de Manco Capac and Mama ocllo. History class in Peru was so intense...we had to remember names in quechua.All the Pre Inca cultures, inca culture. We had to visit the pre Inca and Inca museum's, write papers about it for our classes.

Now that you already tried the Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo way , you guys need to search to recreate the Hermanos Ayar experience. You know, There are 2 main legends about the Inca Empire creation. MC & MO is the most popular, the other one was about 4 brothers and their wives and how they traveled and funded Cusco. This legend is much more dramatic, including magical powers, betrayals and even common details with the previous legend. Google about it guys. Cute Lindsay seems like a natural blonde, who knows, maybe she is also a daughter from father Sun. Or a Super Saiyajin.
