- The Covid 19 pandemic caused a lockdown in Peru when we arrived in Cusco many months ago, so we've been living here and documenting daily life in this city during the coronavirus. A couple weeks into our lockdown, we took in a stray dog who was living on the streets and followed us home. The COVID pandemic wasn't easy for anyone, but it was hard on the street dogs who usually got food and water from tourists. The streets became empty, so we took him in to shelter him and find him a home. His name is Mr. Potatohead. Today, we say goodbye and bring him to an amazing home near Pisac. We stay the night at this incredible place far away from everything, and we show you how this couple lives here. Covid 19 has taken Peru, and we're here to show you how. I'm from Peru, living in USA since 1984; I fell in love with your lockdown adventures, and admire your souls because you were so kind to a stray dog in a place where they are not taken care of. My family and I followed you and Potato Head through your adventures in Cusco, and had some debates on what should happen to him. I think you found the best place for him, away from traffic and troubles of city life (It will be busy again once Peru opens the borders), and gave him a place where he can truly relax and enjoy all the discoveries to come in his investigations of the surroundings. I cried a little because this is the goodbye part, but feel happy for him and his new family in the most wonderful place ever. When I visited Cusco in 2015 after 31 years of being away from Peru, my younger son fell in love with the dogs in the streets. He kept feeding and petting them and the incredible part for me was that they would follow him too, to my dismay because as a small child in Peru we were taught not to pet stray dogs and to keep clear from them because they were no good. What a lesson I've learned from my son and both of you. I'm glad there are people like you willing to give these creatures a chance and allow them to show that they can make you love them. My next trip, once things open, will be to Peru and I will make a point to spend a good amount of time in Cusco and stay at the last place you stayed at. It looks really nice. Thanks, and we will keep watching your adventures.

Absolutely true .... when children we are always taught "beware of stray dogs", unfortunately we are a Third-world country and Councils or Agencies do not follow-up properly .... It is so sad but true ... you have seen it directly when Covid 19 epidemic started, let alone stray dogs status. But all this gave you the opportunity to live like a real Peruvian does and to face life as Peruvians, hopefully you now understand our people and our choices. Definitely a very special time in your lives, very educational too I guess. If only world leaders - but Angela Merkel - had while young the experiences you are having now, they would fully understand people and the world would be a better place to live.
Dear Mum and Dad, from the time I met you, you became my people, my heart. You looked after me, and made me realise what the love of a family is like. I knew that one day you may leave, I am so blessed that you found me someone to love and stay with, no more cold streets for me. I will miss you so much that my heart aches but Please know that it only aches because of all the wonderful memories, adventures and love you have for me. My new home and family will love and take care of me, and I’ll have furry friends to live with. I love you Mum and Dad and I will be sad but I will remember you always, Lots of love from Me, your Mr Potato Head. 🐕💕💞💓💗

This story can easily become a movie based on a true story, it can also become a children’s book showing the love and compassion of a beautiful couple who got stuck in a beautiful place in the middle of a pandemic. Lindsey and Alex, thank you for rescuing Mr. Potatohead from street life. He is the bestest dog and deserves to be safe and happy. You were the greatest foster parents a dog could ever want! You loved and took care of him. You could tell how much he appreciated and loved you in every video. It looks like you found him a wonderful forever home. Entiendo que es una situación muy dificil y da mucha pena pero Cabeza de Papa es un perro callejero y es muy facil para el adaptarse con nuevas personas. Ningun peruano o especialmente Cuzqueños hicieron algo por todos esos perros de la calle a excepcion de la Sra que mostraron en los videos, ella de una u otra forma se dedica a alimentarlos y darles un hogar. Mi ultima visita a Cuzco fue hace dos años y no tienes idea cuantos perros callejeros hay por toda la ciudad, en la madrugada corren en manadas por todas las calles, al menos esa fue nuestra experiencia. Estoy muy feliz que unos extranjeros le hayan brindado amor incondicional, un techo y un plato de comida todo los dias. Lo hicieron muy feliz y el se adapto a ellos increiblemente rapido, hasta aprendio el idioma y aprendio a quererlos mucho y creyo haber encontrado una familia pero ellos tampoco imaginaron que se quedarian tanto tiempo con el. Al menos se dieron el tiempo de buscar una familia que pueda amar a Cabeza de Papa como ellos. A veces es muy facil hablar y muy dificil de entender, las despedidas siempre son muy tristes pero la vida tiene que seguir. Y ojala ellos regresen a Peru porque nuestro pais vive de los turistas especialmente la ciudad del Cusco, turistas como ellos es lo que nuestro pais necesita...PEACE❤

I was extremely anxious when you had a count down on leaving him and I’m so glad you found the humans that will now care for him he will have no problem living a very happy life in that property. We are all sad but know it was the best thing for him! He knew to find and stay with both of you. Animals sometimes chose you.. I know from experience I have never purchased a pet my two dogs and two cats came to me from the streets and I live in Florida not many strays out here but still they just find you! I have the same experience in Lima Perú, when I found a dog on the street. I feed she, care she, teach she, but at least I have to found another house for she. I know how hearth breaking it is left a dog who cares and love you a lot. I can say that she rescue me at the same time that I recue she from the streets. I feel a lit of bit sad, but happy because I found for she a great place and because a could see she in some days. You are amasing, I will folow you, so you have a new suscribe from Perú! ❤️🇵🇪. 1:22 nice fireplace for Mr.Potato Head, WOW you actually spent a quarter of a year in one place..AMAZING. The new home for (Mr.PotatoHead) is in a stunning area..totally emersed in a natural surrounding lovely rugged mountains..well done. 7:54 she nailed it by saying "ROOM WITH A VIEW"...that view is stunningly gorgeous. their home is just beautiful and lavish..really big property. The waterfall area is really nice, i know for me i would take a dip in that water. I think the dog senses that goodbye is near..very good video..Good Luck.

I hope, but something i am completely sure, he never leaves you because he loves you. I know it is hard to adopt him now. However, if any time when you can live in a permanent place or come back your place, please try to take him because he would wait for you and your bf and you would have many more beautiful adventures together. In this life, it is not easy to be angel for everybody but being an angel only for one person makes the difference. best.

You guys did an amazing thing and try not to worry too much, your so lucky to have got to go to their home and even stay the night and introduce him to his new family. I am blessing that day you went out to buy and fortunately you were able to run into mr potato and change his hard life in the streets to live now in a amazing place . Life got in the way & YT stopped mentioning your videos, but I awoke this morning wondering about the three of you...I scrolled through two months worth of video to find out what happened w/ Mr Potatohead & am now sobbing as if I were the one having to say goodbye! Watching the first minute of the video it looks like you both have been crying and I can hear a crack in your voice 😔 I have 3 rescued dogs and I can only appreciate your well efforts to find Mr. P a good and forever home. It’ll be an adjustment for you both for the first few weeks but it’ll get better, he is now home and safe 😊

Wow! I've been following your adventure in Peru from the beginning. This was really emotional to say good-bye to Mr. Potato Head. He really is the most soulful dog, who I believe took care of both of you while you were in Cuzco. A truly special dog with amazing eyes that spoke volumes. I cried. I could feel the emotion from both of you. I'm glad you found a wonderful forever home for him.

Mr. Potato will be well loved. I said I wasnt going to cry at this video but it got me. As soon as I saw his new home it made me extremely happy, I have been there before a few years ago and she is so generous and she is super cool and will absolutely care for Mr. Potato, he is safe.
