Do you think you'll ever do a video on a step-by-step procedure on how to do head studs with cab on. For us at home mechanics that don't have the shops.
I just found this channel and love it!!! You are awesome and I thank you very much for how detailed you are and even letting us know the torque spec’s ( that info is gold). What exhaust is on this truck??
Y’all are the only ones I see properly torque bolts, holding the wrench firmly from the center of the handle pulling towards him not from the edge or anything like that
You can use a 3/4 socket to push down those injector clips. Ik the tools are designed for that but it ain’t exactly necessary, especially for someone who doesn’t do it everyday.
I have a 2010 6.0 van.. 511,000 miles & never had a wrench on it... but it knocked a lifter out..(which they all eventually do).. took the drain plug out & part of a roller and a needle bearing were stuck to the magnet... I'm in the process of pulling the motor... its really not that bad of a job...
Mine does this but I still tow my 12k trailer 5 hours away through the mountains and doesn't overheat and pulls/behaves fine. I do have a custom external air to oil cooler (massive) and my fan is always engaged.
@@AutomedicGarage it's been 3 years of heavy use like this, and don't worry, I've got KDD aluminum heads coming with studs 👍🏼 but as for the fan, it's been such a better running truck with it on all the time. Way better temps, way better behaviour and I haven't noticed any decrease in mileage. I understand it's a parasitic load, but let me ask you.. do you use your A/C..? Same same. It's so minor, it's literally negligible. Like I said, I haven't noticed any loss in fuel economy. 🤷🏽♂️👍🏼
@@DanMarcelino I do use my ac but the fan is not commanded on constantly with ac on. Best option is 7.3 fan clutch conversion. It’s a viscous clutch which seldom fails and if it does it fails ON not OFF.
@@AutomedicGarage I know that your fan isn't on all the time, I was using the parasitic load of the A/C compressor as an example I might go that route, but honestly I've seen nothing but benefits since I did this so I may dig my heels in a bit lol
@@DanMarcelino your truck, your motor, your heads. But ac load and fan clutch load are 2 drastically different loads on that engine. That’s why idle speed varies with ac clutch engagement but not with that fan clutch. The fan clutch has its own weight to help out with centrifugal force helping turn the fan while the ac clutch is a small round pump with no weight not to mention the cycles of on and off. If you like puking coolant that’s fine it’s your choice but it’s a symptom of a problem that will at some point get worse and despite claiming no lower fuel mileage it may not seem low because you’ve never seen the potential of not running the fan all the time.
So how often do you see lifter failure? I have 183K miles on her (‘06 F250). I don’t know much history on it. I just bought it last year and was told some untrue information about it that had to be addressed (live and learn). Getting ready to have head gaskets and KDD heads installed.
