I just bought a 2004 F-350 Super Duty CCSB Fx4 6.0 Powerstroke with the single rear tire in 11/24. It was a one owner truck with 36,200 original miles, and the gentleman built a garage just for the truck, and he never drove it in the rain (I talked to his widowed wife). There were four tire marks in the garage where he parked it every time after driving it. She said if he couldnt get the tires back in the same four tire marks everytime, then he would have her help get him lined up. Haha. With him being so meticulous and "OCD", it makes me feel good about how well it was taken care of, as I will definitely continue to do the same. I looked up the VIN on the Ford website and it had 52 service records. You do the math and thats a service every 2.6 months. The services did vary between oil, transmission, coolant and fuel services. I am happier than a fat pig in hot mud! These "unicorns", are out there but just very very few and far between! Great video as I plan on doing just about everything you're doing to mine as well. Keep the excellent tutorials coming brother!
BEAUTIFUL Truck Pete!! And you did an Amazing job Drew👍👍 I may just have to make that trip myself Andrew but I'm 9½ hours, 620 miles from you😄. I cant find any mechanics that are worth a darn where I'm located. I use to love working on my truck but now I'm partially disabled and its rough on this old guy, LoL!! I still watch your vids but it's hard for me to stay connected (subbed) the "powers that be" don't like it when I'm not so objective on certain issues in the news 🤣 so i got to be a little careful i guess, maybe or Maybe Not!😂 Y'all have a Blessed weekend my friend 🙏 Jay 🕊🕊🕊
One thing that may help or be useful. When you remove the radiator hold downs, put one back on with the bolt that's farthest away from you and put it in the one closest to you. If that makes sense.. that way it keeps it pulled tord you to help remove the fan shroud and keeps the radiator from moving around.
Thats an extremely nice truck 38k wowzers. I just jumped the gun on an 03 with 138k on it that has the arp studs, blue spring kit, upgraded OC, egr 👋. Watching these videoes give me relief in knowing it wasnt a bad decision as i am more of a 7.3l guy, swore i would never touch a 6.0l.. Thanks for recording and sharing your videos, I find them extremely helpful....
I love my 6.0 I had a 7.3 as well and have fully deleted, studded , bullet proof air to oil, stc fitting, 68 mm turbo , 130 over injectors etc and it is just as dependable as my 7.3 was
Great video...My uncle has an 07 F250 CC 4x4 KR auto with 26,000 miles, garage Queen, never pulled or been left outside in the sun or weather, he is 87 and says I can buy it when he dies...It'll be a great replacement for my 05 F250...
I marked where the boots fit on my intercooler pipes and then took the pipes off and used 100 grit sandpaper to roughen up the ends stopping before my marks so the boots cover the sanded part. I did that to give the boots something to grip. Been about 8 months and hasn't blown apart yet. Good video and nice upgrades.
75000 miles ago I dropped off my truck to my mechanic with $15,000 worth of parts in it. I parked last time what was there and what else I wanted. I ended up buying another $800 worth of parts before my build was done.
I think I would have split the turbo case open and just checked the vanes and unison ring since you went this far. But like always you have produced another great video!
Yeah I doubt it had any end play but my low mileage F250 which wasn’t driven hard or driven often still had locked up vanes but also had vanes that would move. I guess my point is that I would’ve checked the vanes and unison ring.
Love the video, ultra clean truck, beautiful install. I'd love to ask if and how you find your parts. Do you use a site with breakdowns, to find parts and part numbers? I have troubles with the local shops around me not having a single clue. I have a big project ahead of me: Oil Cooler, EGR Delete, New Degas bottle, Degas Cap, Intake Gaskets, Blue Spring, Coolant Bypass Filter, etc. Going all Motorcraft, but I'm interested in trying to find or know what gaskets, o-rings, and seals I should be replacing while there. I am also looking at getting a monitor and have been looking at the EDGE Insight CTS3. Anyways thank you for sharing all of your knowledge in these videos, it's really given me a ton of information, as well as confidence in doing these repairs myself.
I have a very good relationship with my local ford dealer with a top notch parts guy, he’s been there 30 years. My contact info is on my website if you have any questions.
The whole inside of that intake looks like that egr. I let them soak in parts cleaner overnight then blast them out with a hotsey. This is why it's best to just delete egr by plugging it. Then removing diverter from up pipe.
I used the tuner in mine to disable the egr valve and removed the tuner for inspection every 2 years. All that egr garbage ends up on top of the intake valves
What would you recommend to get oil cooler wise, my 6.0 is pushing coolant and I believe I have some coolant in my oil. That being said I believe it’s the oil cooler that has blown, truck is studded and egr deleted also has an external coolant filter. Thanks
What’s the difference between the bulletproof oil cooler located at the vacuum bottle location behind the battery versus in the front grille above the a/c condenser.? Thanks Peter
I just ran into the same issue with the BPD oil cooler bracket and the larger trans cooler. Where did you get the replacement trans cooler brackets to lower it? Doesn’t look like BPD sells them.
If the owner want to do a bit more, a Fass fuel system with fuel filter delete is a good upgrade. I haven't done the external OC, it doesn't replace the cooler in the valley does it?
Yes it does replace it so no more worrying about oil and coolant mixing or the cooler stopping up plus if you ever did have a problem with it it’s all external and never have to get into the motor. FASS is ok but these factory HFCMs actually supply a fair amount of fuel for even bigger injectors. Just gotta clean the drain out on them regularly.
Did you use original fan clutch? I did same mod , used original clutch, and oil really heats up in slow traffic. Not enough air flow. Great at cruise speed. Thinking I should use 7.3 clutch, but turns on engine light and uses more HP. Any ideas?
7.3 fan clutch does not set a CEL. Your original electric fan clutch probably just needed replacing because I’ve never had a bullet proof diesel external cooler get the oil much if any over the coolant temp even if the fan wasnt working properly
It’s a coolant system cleaner from motorcraft for cleaning the cast iron in the block and heads. I only use it when flushing before replacing a oil cooler in the 6.0s you could use it in the 7.3s also if you wanted to throughly flush the system. I do it before oil cooler replacement because I always fear breaking stuff loose with it and it ending up in the cooler. However it isn’t always possible when you have a ruptured oil cooler.
@@robertgeorge4064 correct that’s why I didn’t and don’t do that. Why would you put that comment up here and draw attention to me for no reason like that? That’s messed up.
I didn’t take the cover off the hpop. I wanted to do everything including head studs but the customer didn’t want to. I can’t do work for free so that’s why it wasn’t done.

38,000 miles only but his oil/coolant temperature delta is 25 degrees! What clogged that oil cooler with such low mileage?
Gold coolant. Truck is only used to tow also so elevated temps cook the additives and silicates out of the coolant and they stop up the oil cooler
Did the 90 degree elbow tighten up on the oil cooler? Mine isn’t tight if I have it pointed up like it’s supposed to. I don’t want it to leak.
