I love what we do! Some people don’t realize that we have worked side by side for the last 18 years. Props to your wife for getting sucked in !! Not all of us do…. I can’t even remember all the calls I would get from the wife asking “is my husband still at the shop?” Lol !!
I love watching these types of videos. Definitely a fan of how thorough you are with the process. Not taking big cuts, or speeding the machines up to get it done quickly. Keep up the awesome work!
I like the feeling of actually giving it our all. It is much easier to sleep at night. lol Thank you for the kind words also. I about have the next video ready to post. Hope to see you when we do Jason's F350. He's next!! I think we have his video down to about an hour.
Wow!!! You guys stepped out with supporting this video!!! 17k views and GROWING!!! Thank you so much!!! The tour bus is about ready to rock and roll!!!
Are we sure everyone is ready to see the numbers? There is a chance you all will not like me anymore!!! lol I can say that not much happens for under 10k. Rebuilds hit 20+ all the time. It all depends on the truck. We do put packages together all the time to work with budgets tho.
We started using it about a decade ago and have yet to have any kind of issues with bedplate leaks on our engines. It’s prob about time for them to let go tho huh??
That is a drag,,, generally it needs the vertical section of the exhaust shortened. which is a drag because it it constantly trying to fall back down. So welding it is best!!!
We do not. I know every engine rebuilder in the world with a line hone/bore, would say that every engine needs it. We measure the bores for out of round. I have yet to send off a block for line boring/honing. Our blocks are VERY stout as far as the mains go. Very few engines have a bedplate design. This design greatly increases the strength of the block to keep the bores in line. In order to line bore the mains we would need to surface the bedplate to allow new bores to be cut true. We have been tossing blocks that have any signs of bearing issues btw. As of now,, we do not need to rehab the damaged blocks. Maybe someday we will need to,, but not today!!
Why do you not use exhaust manifold gaskets? Do the manifolds seal better machined surface to machined surface? Do you use any sealant or just metal to metal? Thanks
We are pushing the limits I guess. The gaskets cost money,,, and the surfaces arguably need corrected anyways. I have surfaced many and used gaskets,,, but some customers were willing to try no gaskets so I obliged!!! lol No failures yet,,, Ford sent them out of the factory without gaskets btw!!! I believe surfacing manifolds that are seasoned,,, only need it once for the life of them.
@@SuperDutyService I have a question I was hoping you could answer. I have my 6.0 apart and out of my truck. Reason was initially because of head gaskets pressurizing the cooling system. So, I’m doing gaskets and studs but I also had a small oil leak so I decided to do a complete reseal. I plan on replacing my pushrods with the shorter 6.4 pushrods. My question is: should I also put new lifters in it just because? I had no valvetrain issues or noise and they look really good as well as the cam. Do the factory lifters always fail at some point? I don’t want to spend money on stuff that’s not really needed but I also don’t want to do this again if these lifters are living on borrowed time. Thanks
l have a complex about only using Ford remans. I have not had 100% success with ANYTHING tho!!! lol I have never had a great experience with aftermarket sets. I have with Ford's. So if someone already has them,,, fine,,, but I have no interest in warranting anything about them. We are starting to have the aftermarket ones set on our table tho!!! Testing is constantly happening lately!!!
He doesn't work on trucks. He rebuilds the engine and everything around it. Just an engine swap is 16K from a dealership. At this level of service what you are paying for you can buy a spare truck.
The only special paint we use is on the exhaust parts. It is supposed to be 2000 degree stuff. Regular style auto body paint has been working on all the other stuff for a long time. We paint the oil pan,,, like it's a fender!!! lol
I have found that the block really doesn't get exposed to abnormal heat. So I do not stick solely to engine rated paint. Maybe someday I will find that perfect paint to use,,, but for now,, I kinda just use whatever. I think it is great when the owner suggests something specific to use tho. One of these days someone will suggest something and I will like it and stick with it. We have been liking the 2x paint tho. Just of the shelf stuff.
@SuperDutyService these people crack me up I have worked on countless stock 6.0s as well as ones that are tuned to the moon with supporting mods some are studded and some are not. They all have there issues! I usually blame problems on lack of maintenance or mechanics that do not understand the 6.0
We have been wrapped up changing our operation. Julie and I have been working on our personal projects. We ran for many years hustling the grind,, we now are setting ourselves up to have a balance between the shop owning us,, and us owning it!!! We look forward to changing the way we tackle these projects!! The future WILL be GREAT!!!!
It was 2 months from us picking up the truck, to him picking it up and giving us the sign. Then we lost a rod bearing and had to address it. We built this engine twice. It took a month to finish it the second time. I think he drove it for 4 months or so. So that comes to about 7 months for both rebuilds. We were rolling on Ron’s rebuild when we found out about Franks rod bearing. So we allstopped on Ron’s and got Franks done ASAP!!!
Texting the shop number generally starts the ball rolling. (816)548-6970 We look forward to hearing from you Frank!!! Or an email to Julie@sdutys.com works also. As of now,, I really enjoy doing one truck at a time,,, it lets us focus on the experience we provide for you and your truck!!! Can't wait to see what you have going on there Frank!!!
Thank You, I am going to send an email because there is a bit of sad repair history on my truck and its too much to text. Thanks Again.@@SuperDutyService
Great video btw. I seen it at 1 am n watched the whole deal couldn’t stop. U do some great fuvkin work man where is your shop? I feel like your out in middle America. Like Oklahoma, area
This job is very doable with a 25k budget. Sometimes if parts aren’t ALL replaced,, it can drop under 20k!!! Cab off jobs under 10k are rare also. Normal to have a lifter job run 11k. These prices are assuming you need our intake and y pipe. I am testing a lower budget job right now. I’d love to be able to do a lifter/reseal job,,, for a solid 10k including our parts. No injectors,, no turbo,, no pistons or bearings!!! Almost like a “blinders on” job!!! It will burn fuel just like it did but fresh lifters and studs and not leaking oil!!! These trucks are much better than the rap they get imo!!!!
I love 6.0 trucks bro. In my opinion one of the best Motirs there are after u address a few things. I’m about to do a lil face lift to my motor 203,000 it needs 1- injector. Oil cooler and doin head gaskets gunna look over everything else while we that deep. Prob stand pipes n plugs clean turbo. U suggest anything else? While my guy has truvk. He’s good and he has 2 6.0s.
Fluid film isnt oil based. Its lanolin based. Lanolin reacts with water alot like petroleum. Lanolin is harvested from sheeps fat. Nice try though thinking the torch was doing something because of an oil base. WRONG AGAIN. HAHA
What a beautiful build. Like new, only better.
Props to the wife for getting stuck in. Just as mine does.

@@SuperDutyService kinda funny cause my names Jason and I got an 05 CCLB DRW 6.0 lol. Maybe it’s mine🤣
You two are awesome!!!

Awesome build, T.L.C. put in the Power Stroke.Miss thee machine work, that's awesome when you got satisfied clients.
Outstanding work
Super cool of him to give you gift too
Very unexpected!!!! We all love it tho!!!
Nice work.
Fantastic work my brother! Subbed!
Thank you!!!
Nice job!! what did the cost of a overhaul cost?
Are we sure everyone is ready to see the numbers? There is a chance you all will not like me anymore!!! lol I can say that not much happens for under 10k. Rebuilds hit 20+ all the time. It all depends on the truck. We do put packages together all the time to work with budgets tho.
I will pay that over paying 60k plus on new trucks nowadays.
I miss my 04, hell of a truck.
I've got a couple for sale, both ready for bulletproofing*
I always use a drill to do taps as well. I find that it’s more precise, just using a drill slowly versus by hand.
Love how thorough you are. Do you pick up trucks from Texas??
Great work! What's the anerobic sealant you used on the bedplate? How is it doing so far?
We started using it about a decade ago and have yet to have any kind of issues with bedplate leaks on our engines. It’s prob about time for them to let go tho huh??
Awesome
Winning for you on that one
clean man
Bro, get a vapor honing machine. You will never go back, they are incredible for cleaning, aluminum and other parts. Make them look brand new.
Did you cut the down pipe to fit ? I’ve got my 3.5 2 piece down pipe that rubs the transmission crossmember bolts
That is a drag,,, generally it needs the vertical section of the exhaust shortened. which is a drag because it it constantly trying to fall back down. So welding it is best!!!
Consider new motor mounts to bring the engine up to its original height.
Do y’all line bore the crankshaft holes?
We do not. I know every engine rebuilder in the world with a line hone/bore, would say that every engine needs it. We measure the bores for out of round. What is your process for drilling holes in the conrods? Do hone the bushings afterwards?
I bored the oil holes after boring the actual bushing,, but before honing them to size.
Why do you not use exhaust manifold gaskets? Do the manifolds seal better machined surface to machined surface? Do you use any sealant or just metal to metal?
Thanks

@Hockershp you have it tore dowm that far might as well change the lifters as when they fail it causes catastrophic issues
That Signs BadAss
Very thoughtful of Frank to have that sign made!!! Lifelong momento for sure!!!
I had a freeze plug pop out slightly on my 6.0, any idea a part # on the cylinder head plug ? I can’t seem to find it anywhere
The fuel plug?? Maybe Julie will chime in. That plug is from oreillys.
The oil cap problem is from setting it on the of the battery
What injectors do you usually get? And how good they are based on your experience?

How can I get in touch with your shop to talk about getting my truck worked on.
He doesn't work on trucks. He rebuilds the engine and everything around it. Just an engine swap is 16K from a dealership. At this level of service what you are paying for you can buy a spare truck.
What kind of paints were you using? I would think some may be hi temp paints.
The only special paint we use is on the exhaust parts. It is supposed to be 2000 degree stuff. Regular style auto body paint has been working on all the other stuff for a long time. We paint the oil pan,,, like it's a fender!!! lol
what paint do you use to paint the block? I have been looking for a gray paint like that

Tuner is the killer of the 6L if not bullet proofed, I have done one too many of them.
Are you saying you should've stopped before that last one?????

I overheated my 07 f25 6.0 last week brown sluge in the coolant Reservoir
What a drag. I would guess the truck only overheated cause the milkshake doesn’t transfer heat at all!!! Hopefully Jo damage from the overheating
Oil cooler or headgaskets id think right
@@SuperDutyService ya I'm doing the oil cooler its a pain in the azz now I know why a shop charges 1200 in labor
lpop is made with those indents
Are you sure about that?
Oil fill cap gets in that condition by being set on the battery. Acidic corrosion of plastic
Give that man an auxiliary transmission filter oring!!!! That's the first prize that came to mind!!!! lol
Go see if yours is leaking,,, Julie will get one out to you!!!!
@@SuperDutyService, how about a new oil fill cap instead? Mine is pretty gnarly. Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

27:09 not good at the lifter
Hood light fuvk up oil fill cap?
Not the hood light!!! Go out and act like you are about to add oil. The answer is there!!!
Putting cap on battery ? Or that bracket next to filler neck? I think i use battery. My cap def has that scar on it 😂
U kno I just popped hood
Great video btw. I seen it at 1 am n watched the whole deal couldn’t stop. U do some great fuvkin work man where is your shop? I feel like your out in middle America. Like Oklahoma, area

Would never run coolant for 100K on a 6.0L
I would!!! But most of the time a radiator or coolant pump will rear its head and it'd get refreshed.
Lots of junk from the leaking

why so sad??? I read your other comments,,, you gotta give a couple more words for all of us to catch up!!!! Not sure what you are really saying!!!!
How much does a complete rebuild cost?
Could run to 20k. Some get out for 10 tho. It all depends on what’s needed.
