I love the ritual of waking up the house in the morning and putting it to bed at night. Opening and closing curtains and shades, making the bed, cleaning out the kitchen sink and wiping the counters, picking up throw blankets and pillows. It’s very soothing to me.
Omigracious
Those are kid tasks lol
Love that
There's an order to the day, and a structure that helps one cope with the events of the day. It sets things properly. Similar to a tea process where one allows tea to properly brew then pour then add sugar, cream, lemon. And of course shortbread biscuits or scones. It's just so much better!

Homemaking has been ESSENTIAL for thousands of years. Only recently, has it been looked down upon. I believe it is making a comeback and thanks to homemakers like you, Lisa, we can all hold our heads up high, KNOWING we are doing essential work! Many blessings!
Definitely agree with you. I'd love to be home a be a homemaker, nurture and care for my family better than I would after working a full day...
Sadly its because we need 2 or more incomes so many are exhausted after a long day. Thats not to say we cant insert even little homemaking aspects.
Thank you for the Edith Schaefer quote. It immediately brought me to tears. I’ve let the hard parts of my life take over and forgot the flickering candle and flowers. Tiding up the piles that grow on their own need to be harvested. God did make me to love beauty. I have permission again to display how God made me.
Edith Schafer is one of my favorite authors
@@YeshuaKingMessiah Francis Schaefer’s wife, right? I need to go look up that quote & ponder on it for a while.
It’s not important, it’s THE most important thing. My wife is by far the most important, cherished part of our family.
I truly appreciate your voice regarding the art of homemaking and it’s worthy calling! I am 74, my husband and I have been empty nesters for many many years. We live in an rv and yet we still enjoy creating a warm, cozy home. Looking forward to Christmas🎄
Growing up when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I never had to hesitate to think. I always knew that I wanted to be a wife, a homemaker, and mom. My mom and grandmother were both doing that all my life. I saw the wonderful things they did to make the home welcoming and beautiful. It wasn’t easy, my grandma worked the farm with grandpap, my mom raised 7 kids and life was hard being a single parent and being poor. But they showed the joy in it. Hey both made their own clothing and my mom made us kids clothing also. They both taught all of us girls to sew and cook. I wouldn’t change my life for anything.
Hello Robin, how are you doing today.
Random question. How did your mom make money raising 7 kids when she was a single mom?
Let the world throw all the craziness at me that it wants, but when I walk in my house and close the door I want cozy and warm. Happily, like you, I have it. Home making is a skill and an act of love.
This title is so poignant and right on time for me. I’ve been struggling with being a newer homemaker (2 years) and being satisfied with the remaking things daily/weekly. Thank you for the constantly encouraging quality content. I know it’s just your everyday life, but there is beauty in the mundane.
Lisa, you seem to be the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman. It’s so lovely to see and inspiring to say the least.
Homemaking, even if one lives alone, is crucial to stimulation and contentment of all the senses. We are visual creatures and see in color. Scents are hugely important to human memory and forensic scientists use them to jar our memories, if lost due to trauma. We are comfortable in a new home partially because we've become accustomed to the sounds of both it and the things that our normally surrounding the household, like animals, tree branches in the wind, traffic nearby, a flagpole clanking.
Beautifully stated.
I love the title that homemaking is important as well. I'm a homemaking mom due to various reasons but I get so much critisism about that here. Like it is a waste of my live and i need to make a career.... But I didn't have a choice and making the best of it. and this gives me a bit of encouragement that it matters what I do. So Thank you, I really mean that.
I always try to make my bed even if it is less visible then in your house but just tyidying up keeps my mind calm :)
Hello Tamara, how are you doing today.
I think some of that could be envy or guilt on their behalf bc they cant stay home. It doesnt make it right tho.
Oh my gosh, just found your channel yesterday/last night and love it! Watching you brings back memories of me when I first moved into my apartment in 1979, I worked in retail, grocery, couldn’t afford much so I would get free wooden crates, cover them in material or what ever I could find, wire them for lights/ lamps and hang them from the ceiling using chains, with a ceiling hook/molly weaving the electrical cord through the chain to hide it. Used two crates with a glass top as my coffee tables and end tables etc.. I would sometimes use the open sides of the crates to stack books/magazines or put plants in, even the hanging crate lamps would have plants in them..My apartment was definitely hand made…lol! Always homemade….that’s the touch of love..
I thoroughly enjoyed this video and agree with your sentiments. To wake up in the morning and be surrounded by 'decor' that brings you joy, is the purpose of decor, is it not??? 😊
So inspiring to see someone else living so similar
As a homeschooling mom of 6, cooking from scratch, love living off the land, using natural in our home, and DYI projects - so encouraging to see other families
Always love your videos ~ Misty
Oh I’m happy my videos are an encouragement🤍🤍🤍 thanks for watching!
Homemaking is important work. And it isn’t about going to a retail store and buying all the things…it’s about creating a beautiful and comfortable place to be and curating that home over time. Thank you for the reminder🥰
I recently watched a video of yours from a couple of years ago talking about contentment. It has changed everything for me. I had slowly become so dissatisfied with my home and was constantly comparing it to what others had. But in your video you talked about taking a corner here and there and making it tidy and comfy and claiming it for beauty. And now today's reminder that we are created in God's image, and just as he delights in making beauty, so should we. Instead of watching other people make beautiful things, I am trying to make my own, in my own home, my way.
Love this
Glad there’s a community where I can connect with other women who value homemaking.
Those lamps turned out amazing! I’m not a diy-er but stuff like that inspires me to reconsider that 😅
You are so right, homemaking is important work! I didn’t truly realize this until I retired and was home every day. I love creating a place that invites others in and they feel welcomed and comfortable. I love creating a space where my husband and I long to be!
Thank you for the tutorial on the lampshades! I thrifted 2 lamps that need something done with the shades and now I know how to do it!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us, even us old retired folks! Because of you, I now make sour dough bread! ♥️
I really enjoy watching you do the things that I also love to do. And I so appreciate the quote from Edith Schafer.
Hello Cindy, how are you doing today.
You have a beautiful life, and your children are going to have fond memories of growing up the best way possible, in my opinion. May those memories inspire them to also live a life worth living.
I loved when I had backyard chickens. They were always so entertaining.
Good morning Farmhouse on Boone. What can I say? These videos just keep getting better and better - superb productions values with excellent content. Thanks so much for a tour of your cozy home.
Home truly is where the heart is. Your appreciation of home and family is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Hello Cheryl, how are you doing today.
Thank you for bringing us along for a visit to your lovely home! You have created a beautiful home & family with your husband. God Bless! 💕🌷
Hello Terry, how are you doing today.
I really look forward to your videos (your sisters too!), I feel like I’ve really learned a lot from them (and I’m 56 years old lol!). I love how productive you are in every aspect of your life! I wish I would have known all this stuff when I was younger and raising my own little family. You are definitely inspiration!
What is her sister’s channel?
@@lauramitchell6725 Our Oily House. It’s really good too. She’s into essential oils, hence the name. She does a lot of cooking and homemaking too. I rarely see anything about essential oils on there.
@@debigriffin1604 Thanks so much,I’ll check it out.🥰
Same. I’m 49 and wish these videos were around 30 years ago when my children were young.
Edith Shaeffer is one of my favorite people. Your home is beautiful, a reflection of you.
Great job on the lamps. Your home is so cozy. I enjoy your videos. I love your “I can do it” attitude. Beautiful family!
Your moving the chest to the entry reminded me of the night I pushed an old upright piano across a carpeted living room. Whew! I was making way for a baby crib to move into the living room. We had a very small house but made it work and it was sweet! 💕
We have a million pillows on the bed and I use them all. Severe chronic pain and pillows help a ton. It’s slightly irritating when people assume they’re just decor. I agree though that the beauty is worth the effort.
Hello Nikki, how are you doing today.
I don’t comment ever on channels but this video was so inspiring and comforting in a certain way. I love homemaking.
oh I’m so happy you enjoyed!🤍🤍🤍
I have a dark corner in my 1800s colonial farmhouse, I love your solution with the battery lamp and frames!
You have such a lovely& warm home! The quote had me tearing up. Just beautiful.
I love seeing you at work.Everything you touch is like magic! Love the rub and buff idea.
I love homemaking. Your videos are inspiring and I learn something in each video. I am 63 years old and still love making my home feel inviting and peaceful. I have a small garden and love landscaping and growing my veggies. Blessings to your beautiful family. It's such a pleasure to see your videos and how you nurture your family with healthy cooking and homemaking, and your husband taking care and helping with the homesteading. Sending love from South Africa.
I love how you love your home! I am the same. I live alone and yet I still decorate as if I had a family still here. It makes life comforting.
MIght thought on tidying and home keeping is that the pillows, the throw blankets, etc. create a moment. If that moment brings joy, peace, comfort, or a long "exhale" to an average day, it's 100% worth it!
Love the lampshade and your home. I wish our society viewed and valued homemaking like it did years ago.
Love love your home!! There is nothing I love any better than making my bed and having it look so inviting for the next night. I love searching antique stores and finding a deal that just makes me smile!! You do a wonderful job and you inspire me
You're amazing. Just love all you do. How Blessed your husband is to have you and him you. Pray your family has the Merriest of Christmases and His peace and joy during the holiday season. May He Bless you through the coming year and protect you. Peace!
I’m so impressed with those diy lamp shades!! It must’ve taken a while, thanks for sharing!
Hello Judy, how are you doing today.
I do love seasonal decor and moving even small pieces around refresh my home. Thank you for validating my love for all things homemaking.
I agree 100%! I love for my home to be beautiful and pleasing to the eye also. My bed gets made every day and I spend a few minutes straightening up if needed before I go to work because when I get home I want a calm, relaxing home to enjoy. Especially after teaching 1st grade all day! 😊 Thanks for your inspiration! I have watched many of your videos and I think this one is my favorite! Have a blessed holiday season!
Hello pat, how are you doing today.
I did enjoy this video very much. ❤ I’ve been a homemaker since 1998, and I enjoy it so; my boys are virtually adults now (18 and 20) but I still take great pleasure in being a homemaker and always will.
Your lamp shades came out beautifully! I love the little changes you've made in the entryway too. I move furniture around my home many times. It makes me feel like I got new items
Your home is so comfortable and soothing
I love the egg baskets!
Absolutely love your calming and inviting home and videos. Thank you for continuing to share with us. 😊
Absolutely Beautiful lamps. I adore pillows also….such a cozy atmosphere they create. ❤❤❤❤❤
I think you have made a cozy yet relaxing beautiful home. Keeping it clean with your sweet family is a battle all its own. You do a fantastic job! I love the quilts here and there, they had a layer of beauty.
Order is so important to the health, both mental and physical. I need to go over things daily and keep things tidy and organized. I don’t fault anyone who doesn’t share my feelings, but I don’t appreciate the criticism I have often received because of my belief.
Wonderful attitude that speaks to my heart. Love that you quoted Edith on Homemaking!
Hello Ellen, how are you doing today.
I absolutely love your message in this beautiful video!! I needed this right now so thank you have a blessed day! 😊🙏❣️
Inspired! You create such a beautiful life for your family to enjoy living. I remember tidying up to rebalance my calm when my children were younger & enjoying playing. Now I have to turn on music to enjoy the task of creating the beautiful space it provides.
This was amazing. Your home is so beautiful and warm. Please let me move in. Not my family. Just me. Lol. Many blessings to you and yours!
Honestly, I was skeptical about the lampshades, but they turned out SO cute!
Both of your projects turned out great!
There's no place like home. Love the quote. And the lamps!
Thankyou Lisa..
Wow thats brilliant how you pleated the lamps, they looked so high end! Thats one project I am definitely going to copy.
Great video! I have Rub & Buff and have used it but keep forgetting about it, too. Thanks for the great reminder. Beautiful quote at the end.
Hey Lisa! I love these homemaking videos. Would you be willing to share how you keep your lovely home baby safe?
Hello Sienna, how are you doing today
Loved this sweet video, Lisa!
Blessings to you and your family!
Thank you for this beautiful video.. We've been living through a kitchen remodel for the past month. Each step towards completion brings me away from the chaos and back into the beautiful homemaking that I love. Glorious rich colors and layered decor of books, nature, and art are gradually being cultivated at a slow pace, my happy pace.
As always, I loved this video! 💖
I love homemaking, and this was very inspirational!👍😊
I thought of Edith Schaeffers book ,The Hidden Art of Homemaking, when you started this video! She has been an inspiration to me many a time!
Such a peaceful video. Thank you! And I appreciate that you affirm homemaking and beauty. I watched this while making apples pies for my family. Candles flickering. And surprisingly a few snowflakes falling outside here in Ohio already. So cozy!
Hello Jennifer, how are you doing today.
Loved the lamp redesigning part... 💜💜💜
Yes, it is the most important work. 😊
Thank you for the beautiful words of inspiration! You are doing wonderful things to inspire us to surround ourselves with the things we love in our homes.
These are my favorite videos of yours!! Your home is divine.
Your entry way looks so cozy and inviting. You are amazing at what you do to make your home more beautiful! You are so resourceful and talented!! You are creating a wonderful home and environment for your family. They will always remember their home, being together, comfortable and warm!
I love the inviting entryway! Great idea to make the “pleated” lampshades.
The stairwell looks sooo good! Obsessed with the new wall paper. I totally agree, that a few extra seconds a day to make a home visually pleasing is all worth it. And better not talk about all my pillows!😅
This was so inspiring! Love the lamps...what a simple yet beautiful idea.
Homemaking IS important work! Thank you for always reminding me of this. Great vlog, everything looks so nice!! Love the lamps and entryway! Can’t wait to see you get out your Christmas stuff!
Love watching your videos. You are very serene and calming. Thank you!
Thank you for another amazing video Lisa. You really are creative and talented at finding quick and simple solutions that still look fantastic. I am also in the process of making a house our home - it was surprising to me that it can take years to find out which furnitute, lighting, colors and fabrics work best for us. It is a process and a journey, but an enjoyable one!
LISA, I loooove your home. It is so beautiful and extremely cozy... Yes , I agree Homemaking is so important.. Thanks for sharing with all of us.
I’m totally going to make those pleated lamp shades at some point! I love that look!
The lamp shades came out gorgeous!
Loved this Lisa!!And the quote... perfect!!
Love the Edith Schaefer quote.
Hello Tracy, how are you doing today.
Always love seeing your house evolve!
Beautiful job with the lamp shades. So creative.
Hello Carol, how are you doing today.
I love the background music!
Loved watching your creation of the pleated lampshades. I'm already looking around to decide which lamp in which room (in my almost completely renovated 1880's farmhouse) I'll be doing this with. I love having several homey crafts to do during these long Ohio winters. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love all your videos, but I think this is my favorite! The lamp shades are fantastic!
You are just truly amazing at what you do, such a pleasure to watch it is just the joy of my day to watch one of your videos. Watching how you took those lamp and made them into something so beautiful for your entry way was truly a gift. Enjoyed that quote, and it was fitting for what all you were doing to transform that space into something warm and inviting.
Love the quote! You’re so right about spending extra time if it brings you joy! Your house is lovely. Thanks for your inspiring words.
What a beautiful beautiful quote. Thank you so much for sharing it (and all the effort of those projects which turned out so delightfully).
So pleasing to the eye ! Great job !
I like the lamp shades - very pretty
The lampshade turned out beautiful! I have to say I love your area rug, as well.
Love those lamps, Lisa! that quote is a keeper. Thank you!
This was beautiful- I love that quote on homemaking. It’s so true.
Hello Shannon, how are you doing today.
I love a neat house and lots of pillows lol. Your home is beautiful.
Fabulous. I’m making those shades now. Thanks for the tutorial.
Love your farmhouse and the way you are designing it...lookin good!
