When you guys were setting up the beds and the baby is sitting on the floor next to that metal bar and your daughter cups the back of his head to protect him from hitting it. What a sweet little moment. What a caring big sister.
I think of her as Lisas' little "mini me". In watching videos of their family, I have definitely noticed how her oldest cares for the younger ones. She also mimics what Lisa says. Especially the "Ok buddy" when addressing the other kiddos. Very cute.
It was pretty precious. Kids raised as yours are have such sweet hearts, I have a friend who was able to homeschool her 5 kids and they are also very close and helpful and it warms my heart!
Would love the You Tube Channel of these videos. You are such a hard worker. Sorry to give you more work!!! The bedroom renos were so fun to watch. I grew up with a 3/4 bed and it's a unique experience for your kids!!!
I grew up with antiques. The beds you have are called "three quarter" beds. You can order a fitted box spring and mattress online with that description.
My bed I grew up on was a 3/4 size bed. I have it now, but threw away the mattresses because they were so old. My mother had someone make mattresses to fit it. I don't know where to get that done. So mattresses for these antique beds can be special ordered online? My old bed was very old when my dad had it handed down to him. So when I inherited the bed after my parents passed, the mattresses were about 50 years old. So we took them to the dump. lol But I would like to get another set so I can set that old bed back up. I ask my husband how old he thought it might be. He said "older than old". lol
I was thinking it is a 3/4 frame. We had one years ago and had to special order a box spring and mattress and was able to buy the 3/4 linen size from Sears. This was way before online shopping was available 🤣🤣
@@Nausome_nana When I was growing up on my old 3/4 size bed. Momma just put normal full size sheets on it. It worked fine. The dust ruffle for it, she made. The quilts and spreads that I used were old, or hand made or they were full size. Since the bed was rather tall, full size fit ok. Just dropped down longer on the sides. For the life of me, I don't know how two adults slept in that bed. lol But in its day, that was the full size bed.
ALMOST IN TEARS watching this, my favorite to-date. Lisa, you are the 21st Century Martha Stewart and more as you weave multiple social media platforms with pregnancy and motherhood, natural foods, healthy home cooking, gardening, farm life, home design, sewing and bad a$$ wife/life skills to create an incredibly beautiful, inspiring, educational and entertaining ....what? It sounds crass to call what you create a "product," so I'll just call it what it is to me: A GIFT. That you also do your own photography and video blows my mind. I don't want to embarass you but, sweetheart, you are amzing. Thank you for sharing and making my day. I truly love what you do. God bless you and your gorgeous family.
I agree with you ladies. I am now 60 years old and I thought the art of home'making' was lost on generations after mine. Not so! Plus, I have had a fire lit in me to revisit things I had not done as much in years. Thanks Lisa, for all you are doing and that you are willing to share to inspire others! His richest blessings I pray for you and your precious family!
This is an award winning post. I love your content. You capture such heartwarming moments, the happy livestock, the healthful food, the beautiful decor (you have amazing taste!) and little touches like your daughters baking and gently guiding the baby's head away from the sharp metal strut, the quick time lapse set-ups with can-do father, your concise, informative commentary -- there is just so much to love on your channel, blog, podcast!! I am a fan whose heart is filled seeing the quality life you make with your family in this dystopian age. When things in my life feel like they're falling apart, I am righted and inspired by the farmhouse family on Boone. Thank you, everyone of you, so much!!
The rope support on beds is where the expression "sleep tight" comes from. It was an expression about keeping the ropes tight for maximum comfort by preventing sagging of your straw tick mattresses.
This video came upon my feed as I was hand quilting a queen size quilt for my daughter; I have been working on this for 6 months. I glanced up to see you cutting a vintage quilt in half ... total shock!
Looking forward to the reveal. I love everything you’ve done to your charming home. If you’re looking for an alternative to a bed skirt, I like to put a matching fitted sheet on the box spring instead, especially when there is a pretty rug under the bed.
Koya Moon I think you mean insects. And that’s the other half - because the rope beds usually had a hay filled sack on them as the mattress so they’d add, “don’t let the bed bugs bite!”
Haha! Yes, Lara! That's great to know. I bet it was hard to change out the whole mattress. Refilling the whole thing would be laborous. At least they all used to have natural materials instead of the horrible chemicals used today ♡
Thanks for inspiring me to be more intentional and slowing down with decorating our home. It really does take time and thoughtful purchases to make a house a home. Your farmhouse is so lovely!!
I was absolutely terrified watching Daniel playing beside that sharp rod coming out from the bed. Also, another of you boy was breakinh nuts with hammer!! How do you stay so calm and cool in these situation? Your technique is right probably. I am such a scardy cat mom, who would scream and faint if my babies pick anything other than soft toys!!
It would be such a big help to be able to find your podcasts on UA-cam!! Love all of your videos, you have such a sweet family and your decorating ideas are amazing!!
Not sure if you already made the boys dust ruffle at this point but my dad who is a carpenter made our beds growing up and one trick we did for those custom beds was to staple the dust ruffle into the inside of the bed frame. The dust ruffle was almost like a very long curtain valance if that makes sense
Having your podcast here on youtube is a great idea Lisa. I never remember to go to those other platforms and listen to them. Maybe, if you have an app with all your content, will be great too :D Love the decor, can't wait to see the reveal!!
I really Love what you and your Hubby are doing in your Children’s rooms and your Home. Your physically involved with revamping your beautiful finds, building a Home Great Channel TUFS
Idea for your boys' metal beds: Use the head and foot board pieces as trellises in your garden. I have two different ones in my yard and love them. They add height and work perfectly as plant supports/trellises!
Lisa I have been following you for quiet awhile and am now loving your podcast. I moved from a fancier Greek revival home built in 1884 to a rural farmhouse built in the early 1990’s. So much of what I had before just doesn’t work in this house. You are so right in letting the house speak to you. Mine is coming along slow,y but surely
Love all the beds! Cant wait to see finished rooms. I listen to the podcasts multiple times over! Same with UA-cam videos! Love your family and the way you live life!
If the beds do not sell, the head and foot boards would actually be really cute trellises in the garden. You spray paint them white if you do not want them to stick out as much.
Hi Lisa, I’m interested in your Podcasts being on YT. I don’t know much about them, but I have found some on YT and find myself listening.. I love how the rooms are coming along 💖💜 Take care, Chris-Raleigh NC
I'd love to access your podcasts through UA-cam. I keep things simple with some FB and UA-cam subscriptions, but nothing more. I love these vids, but never want to wait for the reveal! Lol. Show it now! 😂
Love your videos- also LOVE your podcasts. Motherhood has my best interest at heart love to see another mama working along side her “helpmeet” at home raising a family❤️😃
Those wooden structures that your hubby build for the beds will give the boys adequate support as they grow. I have both bracket and ropes beds. Rope stretches and I didn't have a "key" so my husband and I had to pull the rope tight couple times a year. You can still put a rope horizontally to make it appear that rope is main support. Custom size mattresses. Love the beds and the look. Looking forward to see the next reveal!
Love the bed frames for both rooms. All the bed frames in our house were freebies. Some are antiques. I love the idea of cutting the quilt in half to put at the end of the boy's beds. Adds some nice color!
Lisa, love the beds. I was one of those people talking to the screen about ropes. So funny! They really are very durable. I clean a home that has 4 beds( one for each child) All have rope beds. They replaced ropes years ago. But still in very good shape. My daughters bed was given to us years ago when we went through a rough financial time. At that time, it was over 100 years old. And this thing is built to last. Occasionally we tighten it up... but it is incredible! The boys old beds you can always attach the head board to a store bought bed frame ( which are fairly inexpensive/but stronger than the ones that are on beds now). We did that a long time ago with a twin headboard. You are quite the busy mom and I love everything you have brought to this channel. It has evolved into one of my favorite with my morning coffee. Thanks. Stay well. ❤️
I'm excited for the reveal! I'm so sad that I keep forgetting about your pod casts. I do hope you are able to share them on UA-cam, because it will be much easier for me to remember to listen and catch up. ;) Take care, and God Bless you and your sweet family!
My aunt has an old rope bed. Yes, it’s old. Hers is from the 1800’s and people still sleep on it with ropes. Just adore your style, and the quilts. Can’t wait for full review. Bless y’all.
I have a couple of old beds and they are what we call 3/4 beds. You have to order a special box spring and mattress for them. Not all bedding stores will order 3/4 box spring and mattresses so you may have to search around for them.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Your channel, Been watching for awhile. I can't even tell you how excited I am to See what you do with the bedrooms. Farmhouse decor, as well as victorian and eclectic are my favorites. Thank you ❤
Please post your podcasts on UA-cam. I often listen to podcasts on UA-cam channels because I’m more often in that app so it’s just easier. You have a beautifully soothing voice too which is always nice....
My dad always said~ "Buy cheap, pay twice" it is usually true. I always get the best I can afford or I wait until I can afford it. With a tight budget, I have always steered toward free or second hand. Nothing wrong with that! Your home is lovely! You are a talented girl!! I enjoyed this video so much.
Great job so far..you really are finding your way..I always think this is such an enjoyable part of putting the house together. Old beds are really like a 3/4 size, I too discovered his years ago. I have a rope bed in our spare bedroom, which I threaded with clothesline rope..it is one of the most comfortable beds in the house. When my Mom comes to visit she always sleeps on the bed and loves it! Enjoying all your finds.❤️
Oh my goodness.!! Everything is really coming together. I love what you have done. Looks like the kids are excited to. Little Daniel is moving right alone. Sleeping in his bed. I showed his picture to my husband. He said he looks like a happy baby. So that is good. I will be watching for updates. take care! Joyce
Thank you sooooo much for showing this! We have an old iron bed that was so frustrating because we had to build them out a bit. I love your perspective on this. You look at these old pieces with so much love and favor!
Started your video last night but barely got into it until today in the meantime I got completely inspired and flipped the whole house around, all the kids have new beds and the crib and high chair are going!
I love everything you do the colors the soft Sage is gorgeous and that idea that you have that you cut the quilt in half and put it at the end of the bed that what an amazing idea that is I might try that thank you so much for sharing your family and your decorating ideas you're getting me all charge to want to tackle some things at my house!
So excited to sub you...can't wait to discover what else you're doing/have done. I cook mostly from scratch and thought I was doing well...girl, you are amazing!!
Always appreciate seeing your kiddos with you guys while you are doing your projects. Even though your channel is your business it’s nice to see your family values. Encouraging in this weird time with family bloggers! Love the realness 💕
You are so much like my cousin, Dina! She was way ahead of her time 40 years ago when she, her husband, four kids and lots of animals lived in an old farmhouse in Baltimore County. Your life and lifestyle mirror hers. You even look like she did 40 years ago! Watching you reminds me of the time I spent with her in those days, so I subscribed👍🏻
I wondered what the projections on the headboard and footboard were for. So interesting that mattresses were supported by ropes. Glad you found such unique strong beds.
I've done the bed roping on a Jennylinn bed. It requires some maintenance because it sags over time. We also had to get a custom mattress for it. It IS very comfortable but we will eventually put slats in the bottom like you initially thought!
Hi a few years ago I watched a program on early settlers and one of their means of a bed base was the rope system. Also said the ropes would loosen and not as comfortable and the saying “sleep tight” was apparently a reference to hoping the ropes would stay taught all night. Enjoy your reports and marvel at what you accomplish in a day! Best wishes from Melbourne, Australia
I have had the same problem before and my husband and I measured the opening and cut a piece of plywood to fit in the opening...this worked better than slats and was very secure. No need for box springs..just put the mattress on top of the plywood. We did cover the plywood with a fabric. That prevented splinters from the plywood. Wooked great and was very safe.
I overlooked the error before posting. I figured most people would beable to read the post and understand it. Obviously you did. Thank you so very much for your proof reading.
Ur children’s beds are very nice. The rooms r going to look awesome. Can’t wait to see it all done. Thanks for always sharing ur recipes. Enjoy ur videos. 👍🏻
Love this channel and your podcast too ~ I have listened to all of them. Sometimes I prefer podcasts so I can do things while I listen and don't have to look at the screen. Kids rooms are going to be so nice, have a great weekend!
When you guys were setting up the beds and the baby is sitting on the floor next to that metal bar and your daughter cups the back of his head to protect him from hitting it. What a sweet little moment. What a caring big sister.
That moment melted my heart
Yes, I saw Daniels big sister move his little head to protect it. That was a precious moment to see. She will make a wonderful Mom one day?
I think of her as Lisas' little "mini me". In watching videos of their family, I have definitely noticed how her oldest cares for the younger ones. She also mimics what Lisa says. Especially the "Ok buddy" when addressing the other kiddos. Very cute.
It was pretty precious. Kids raised as yours are have such sweet hearts, I have a friend who was able to homeschool her 5 kids and they are also very close and helpful and it warms my heart!
You could put a second fitted sheet on the box springs if you wanted to cover them without a bed skirt.
Such a good idea. I was having this exact issue with my toddlers bed and you just solved it for me. Thanks. 👍
Great ideaaaa!!!!
Omg Thanks sooo much for this comment
Oh this is where this comment was. I did this yesterday. I got a 800 dollar platform bed for 200 and finally put it together. Thanks honey.
This is what we did!

You can order a fitted box spring and mattress online with that description.
yep three quarter, i had one growing up
My mom always called mine a “youth bed” it was cradle style with a low railing- wish I had that now for my three year old!

Such a sweet comment! I feel the same way! A proverbs 31 wife!
I agree!! I am dumbfounded 🥰🥰🥰❤ like what does she not do.. luv her!

Great idea to do the podcast on yt. I loved listening to the sourdough one you did like that. 👍
Yes please put your podcast here!!
The rope beds are why they used to say, “sleep tight.”
I just came here to say the same thing! Haha.
Oh I thought it had to do with incest. Yikes!!
Yep. because the rope would stretch and you would regularly have to tighten them so your bed wasn't saggy.
Use the old beds as fencing or trellises in your garden.
I did that and it worked awesome!
Dianna Tickle I thought the same thing
That's was my first idea! Use those cute beds as garden trellises
Loved watching today Lisa!!! Boys beds look amazing!! can't wait to see the reveal ! Thanks for sharing!!
I cant wait to see reveal. Everything is coming along wonderfully

🌸Thank you for sharing! Looking really great in the kids rooms! Can’t wait to see all that you collect to add to them! Have a peaceful day🌸
I’m looking forward to the reveal. Very clever to cut the quilt in two and make foot throws! Please do your podcasts on UA-cam. Thanks!

Those bed ends would make cute railings for a garden bridge, as an idea for a repurpose. Love your style!
You can use the old beds as trellis or fence pieces.
Can’t wait for the full reveal Lisa!! And your podcast is sooooo awesome!!!!
Loving those beds. The girls and boys rooms r going to look very nice. Thanks for sharing ur recipes.
I've done the bed roping on a Jennylinn bed. It requires some maintenance because it sags over time. We also had to get a custom mattress for it. It IS very comfortable but we will eventually put slats in the bottom like you initially thought!
Oh I love what you did.
I love everything you have !
So excited to follow along! These rooms are going to be awesome. 🙌🏻👏🏻
Love all that you are doing!!!!
I Love the beds!! I love your style and all your antique finds.. I never seem to find much on facebook!! Cant wait to see these rooms all finished!!!
I am watching with the plans of being a foster mom and adopting! Thanks!
Love the decor. Absolutely brilliant!
Really enjoyed your post. Cant wait to see the finish girl's room.
Judy if you want an edit the w to an l, wooked
