Cool video and I like the explanation for the fuel valve as I always wondered why there was no "off" setting and did not know i could just pull the fuel line and run the carb empty when storing my quad for a while which would have saved me money when i took it to the shop to get the carb cleaned several times over the past few years.. I have a '03 Suzuki Z400 and I believe it is the same engine as your Kawasaki. Got my carb out and will now try to clean it up as shown. Thanks for the video.
Awesome Video Dalton! I don't need to clean the carb, but I'm doing some rejetting, and this looks like a nice easy way for switching out the main jet.
Hello there , ive just done this today, then when i wanted to start it again, a lot of gaz was draining from the black small hose in the bottom near the shifter. I wanna know how to fix this , thanks.
Dalton. I have a 04 kfx 400 and im trying to figure out where the vaccum to the petcock connects to. Also that small line hooked to the top of your carb. The smaller one. I cant find anywhere on my quad where there is suppose to hook a vaccum to from the smaller side of the petcock. Please help lol its got me puzzled
If you have an “aftermarket” carb, you may not have an “extra” vacuum nipple on carb. Original set up has a vacuum nipple on pet cock to the top left of carb if looking from pet cock side. I’m sorry if my explanation is convoluted.
Good video but you might want to remove the float and spray out the part where the fuel line connects to cause there's a small metal screen that trap dirt and stuff and it gets clogged sometimes
When your pulling the carb off can u pull the boots off the motor and engine and disconnect the gas line and twist the carb to like how you have it or do you have to disconnect all the other tubes like the throttle, breather tubes and choke tube to do this?
Its easier to just pull the boots off and pull the airbox over a bit. It is difficult to get the throttle cable off so thats why I did it the way I showed.
+2-Stroke Dalton okay thank you I have an 05 that gets a weird bog when I give it past 1/3 throttle so I'm assuming its something in the jets it only happens every once in a while usually when I give it choppy throttle but will be trying this!
No, it does not affect your performance. The only difference between ON and PRIMARY is that ON will only feed fuel to the carb when the engine is turning over/running and PRIMARY will feed fuel to the carb if the engine is running or not. I mainly leave mine on PRIMARY because I find it starts easier but it does not affect performance at all...
2-Stroke Dalton hey I cleaned the carb and followed the steps you've done, now I'm having trouble putting the carb back into the tubes. Any suggestions?
You’re supposed to take the needle and seat out too because there is a screen on the top of the seat that would be more crowded and plug than anything else in the carburetter
@Mary Chris Wrong it's a Suzuki engine and frame. Suzuki and KFX are identical besides the color plastics and graphics. The frame sticker even says Suzuki on the KFX. ....The Arctic Cat has it's own bodywork , seat , subframe etc but engine is the same as KFX and LTZ. The engine was first developed for the Suzuki DRZ 400 dual sport motorcycle.
@@ocasion3051 I have 165 main jet 25 pilot fuel screw 3 turn out and still popping is normal for the exhaust soo I know she nop running lean make sure you put 165 or 170 and 25 pilot and you good to go watch my video from this past weekend
The reason she popping is the unburned fuel in the exhaust just make sure you jetted your carburetor 165 main 25 pilot to make sure that you nop running lean the popping on the deceleration is normal bro!!!

How many turns out is your idle screw I meesed mine up because it was idling high but it was because throttle was stuck
Nicely done
Is the Kawasaki 2004 carb in the same place as this one
+luis vazquez Yes it should be. These bikes were mostly the same up until 2006

It sounds like either your float is stuck open. Or the screw on the bottom of the bowl is loose! hope this helps!
@Shawn Johnson if your floats weak it could because of the spring or the pin that rides on the bottom of the float as gunked up with crap.

when you ride the 4 wheeler were do you put it on primer or reserve?
Prime
Reserve is for when your low on gas
Leave it on to ride not prime

I was thinking the same thing
That's an after market carb like the ones off amazon ? Because mine doesn't look like that one
Sweet video. I took the main and other out at the same time and mixed them up so I didnt know which one to put back in the main till I watched this.

I have the same quad and does having the fuel in the on position rather than the primary position have anything to do with performance

where is the screen located?
@@starstruckt there is a wide screw that holds the seat in. Take out the screw and pull out the seat( hole the needle valve sits in.
Awesome dude
The screws on the bottom of mine are stripped
Use a small pair of vise grips to turn them lose.
Muito bom brutal a primeira vez que vejo um vídeo limpeza carburador perfeito nítido e com muita qualidade obrigado
thanks a lot dude!!
i pulled out the air mix screw now what?
so did Kawasaki copy the 2003 Suzuki z 400

Only thing you're right about is the Fuji motor in the Polaris Predator.
👍🏻👍🏻
