How could some a-hole downvote? You were clear, concise and most of all NOT annoying! Thanks for taking the time to make the video. Hello from Las Vegas!
9:05 those are JIS, not Phillips head. They very easy to round out of you use standard Phillips bits or Phillips screwdriver. Especially removing for the first time from the factory set torque. Invest in a good set of JIS screwdrivers (recommend Vessel from Japan) if you're going to be working on any Japanese quads or bikes. It'll save you a ton of headache and searching for replacement OEM fasteners. When using those screwdrivers, put some down-force into it and you'll feel when they are breaking free versus about to strip out. Everything I've bought off criagslist has dorked up screws on it. People tend to think these small fasteners need a ton of torque to tighten them down. Also want to say thank you for recording this video. I'm going through an '05 KFX 700 right now and I had the carbs off in just a few minutes by following your procedure.
Hey, I picked up a 2009 kfX 700 in marble red . Passing through Tennisie, was a sign for sale and it had a letter attached that said “bought and fell off truck it’s been broken” so I stopped the bars were bent, back plastic cracked. Tail light. And ebrake levee. I replaced bars as well as dash with a one peice dash. Found used rear fender missing gas cover, there’s was still good. One rim had a good bend. I used slime for now. It’s not leaking. It still had the bill of sale and manual in a outlet bag they taped to the seat. I paid 1200$ and luckily with bed extender it fit. I have 2 questions, I did oil, I did coolant, new battery. He did empty the gas. So it started. My question is and it’s stupid , the first plug was easy to change, where is the second plug? I also changed air filter. My girl redid rip In seat. So my 2 questions, best way to find or get to back plug. And anyone recommend a Exaust. This one had some scratches. I powder coated it black. I have a few dirt bikes, pair of rmz 450’s older yz 250, A gas gas. We have a few 4x4 Polaris’s and my son for his 21bday my fiancé bought him a complete banshee rebuilt. With retro yellow/ red plastics. It seems like the kfX could be fun for people who can’t shift. And out maverick is only a 2 seater. If anyone has any knowledge on these kfX’ so would appreciate your help. So big questions best way for back plug. And a bolt on Exaust i don’t need to rejet or anything. We were there camping in the Smokey’s and found it. I have clipper travel trailer so it got stuck on back of Tacoma for 2 weeks of vacation Ty and Godbless. Also is there a fuel cutoff?
haha hey man. ok yes front plug is very easy to get to.... the rear. not so much.. so you'll have to remove the seat.... battery and battery box. you should be able to get into there with a 3/8 extension and swivel 👍...... when it comes to exhaust. the best is a full used muzzy pro (they dont make anymore) or a new empire exhaust.... very expensive. but will have to rejet. hmf is a common swap...they are very loud and not a ton of power added. the header pipes are very small from the factory. if you watch my brute force build video youll see the exhaust comparison 👍
I have a prairie 700 with very similar carbs. there is a fuel "tube" in between the 2 carbs that's leaking. I don't want to split the 2 apart for access to the tube simply because i don't know how the throttle plates are connected. any advice or diagram would be greatly appreciated. thank you
My 08 Kfx starts but I need to hold the start button for about 8 or so seconds. It will run for a few seconds then cut out. Once the engine is warm it runs great. Do you think it’s a carb issue?
if its getting difficult to start while its cold.... most of the time, it's the valves that need adjusted. they arent super hard to do.. but it does take some time.
hello i have the following problem, namely when i have high speed the kfx has short misfires sounds something like this: rrrrrrrrrrr it comes from the carburetor but i don't know what's broken and when idling when the engine is warm there are misfires in the carburetor. Thanks for the help
@Dominik Kfx700 ok so these are the things i would check. first clean the carbs and replace fuel filter if that hasnt been done. also throwing 2 new ngk spark plugs in is a good idea. i would also check valve lash...unfortunately thats a little bit more of a job to do.
how do you like the equal length exhaust for the kfx 700, empire makes the exhaust now and i was wondering how they sound and if they really improve throttle response and add some power??
What jet is it that you didn't show how to remove in the Video. I cleaned my carb but didn't know how to remove that jet as it didn't have a slot for a screw driver, do u need a speciality tool for this
@@Simpsons.R.S Im not sure if it's a jet it was sitting in the middle of the float to the right of the main jet believe its about 12:53 when you said I can remove this here too
@bigd4115 ok perfect haha. it been a while since i made this video. ok so what i was meaning was the part that the main jet screws into... that can come out. i forget the size. maybe 8mm? that just comes right out. now beside that. there's a smooth bore..... that is pressed into the carb. i never remove that.. i just get something to fit down in there to clean it... and then spray it with carb clean/compressed air to make sure its clear.
@@Simpsons.R.S it didn't have a bolt head on it it looked similar to jet but had circle hole on the top of it, maybe its the smooth bore thing your talking about.
Hey there. Ya if you're getting some fuel in the oil, definitely look into the carbs. If the floats arent set correctly or if the needle is sticking open slightly. It could cause gas to leak out of the bowls, down into the cylinder and into your oil. This will also cause issues with your rings down the road. I'd say pull carbs. Clean them very well and make sure the needles are seating correctly.
It depends on where the ticking is coming from... but checking the valves is probably the best bet. A little bit of work to do that, but I checked mine before every season of riding.
Oh yes. Valves could be out of spec. Which isnt a hard job to check. Just takes time. Bad spark plugs, Coil going bad, cdi box. Carbs could be out of sync. Leak around the intake boots. Or jetting could just be way off
You need to see if you're getting any power to the coils. If you are and still no spark then they might be bad. I've never seen both go at the same time. Honestly when it comes to spark you have to work your way back to cdi, magneto etc.. it's kinda a pain haha. But check easy stuff first. Good grounds, good plugs, plug wires are in good shape. Etc

Hello, I have such an ATV, but I have a problem. consumes a lot of fuel and turns off when walking. where is the problem here please
When putting the main jet back in, do you tighten it or leave it a couple turns out?
the main jet you tighten all the way. air/fuel adjustment screw is the one that you count the number of turns 👍

Is there a certain way or sum to get them pins on top of the air box off I’m not a mechanic or nun but mine aren’t budging
to take the lid off? you can use a flat head screw driver and pry them off carefully.
My 700 takes a good 10 minutes till it starts and will turn off if it isn’t hot, I just cleaned the carbi what would you recommend I check next?
I would check the valves. When they are getting out of spec itll make the quad hard to start cold. But once its warmed up itll start easy and run ok.
How ya it ran since the coolant delete? Why does coolant need to run to the carb?
It ran fine afterwards. No issues. It just helps warm the carbs up in colder weather
Does the diaphragm only open half way ?? Mine will not open all the way open
Good question..... does the quad seem to run poorly?
Where are you located
I have a 2004 Kawasaki kfx 700 and no electric where is the fuse so I can check it
It should be right under the seat in a small fuse box. I sold my quad a while ago so Its been a little since I've looked.
@@Simpsons.R.S where about under the seat
There should be a inline 20amp fuse towards the rear of the quad by the seat mount.
I have an 04 I’m where are the spark plugs located ?
One is up front on the left side of the engine. You can get it pretty easily. The rear one is way harder. It's on the right side under the seat.
I just did a oil change there was some fuel in the oil wondering if you can help me out what could that be?

I have a 09 its having problems starting when it's cold and also it shuts off at idle do you have any idea what it might be?
The quads can be cold blooded. So if you cleaned the carbs and it's still doing it. You might want to look into checking valve clearances.

The engine looks cleaner without the line. Haha
