Ok made sure the crankshaft and cams were lined up. Ziptide the chain to the cames and changed out the shims. When I put it back together inserting the chain tensioner my exhaust cam number 3 is low. Can anyone give me some info why it's off I have 15 between cams. Did everything move one tooth because the crankshaft moved from the line to the t while? Any help? Thanks
Usually they only need to be adjusted once they start to make noise. Having a hard time starting is a common sign of valves needing adjusted. 400ex valves are setup much different than these valves for the ltz. They’re are much easier to adjust than the ltz valves though because they do not have buckets.
Ok yall help me out ext shims are set at 26 and 27 whitch is close enuff to dead tits between 20 and 30 so good theor... intake side one is shimed .16 whitch is damn close to dead center between 10 and 20.. all close enuff.. but the other intake side is to tight no clearance room at all with no shim at all???

do you have any solution?
How often do you have to adjust. Trying to decide between a Z400 and 400ex for my son?

What you torque the cam caps too?
what torque spec did you tighten the caps to?
factory torque rating is 7 ft lbs.
Roughly how long did this whole adjustment take you? Thanks
It took me roughly 3-4 hours total to do the whole adjustment. that was with breaking the cam cap bolt too.
