I have a pretty impressive "home gym". After about 12 years of not updating any pieces, I decided to try this unit. I gotta say, I've been missing out. Absolutely LOVE doing legs now. I used to dread it due to bad joints, back pain etc.... this eliminated all that. Strictly hitting you hamstrings and thighs. No knee pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain from my old hack squat. Looks like she's going on marketplace!
Awesome review. I’ve been debating between this leg press and Titans leg press, but I’m definitely picking this one. Also because it’s $375 on amazon right now. Never used a vertical leg press before up until a week ago at my local gym because they just bought one, and man, it is hard! I instantly fell in love with it and made me want to go ahead and purchase one for my home gym. The 550 lb limit is way over what I originally thought I could lift vs the normal leg press. I know for a fact this vertical leg press is definitely going to give some great workouts on my leg days!!
Excellent thorough review Dad 👍 Back in my bodybuilding days in the 80’s they had one of these at the Gold’s Gym I trained at, same exact design with the three vertical plate horns .. but the Gold’s machine was loaded with standard not Olympic plates. Only thing I don’t like is the red powder coated parts but that’s obviously moot point in any piece of gym equipment. I think you’ve sold me on this model over the Body Solid, Valor, and Titan machines I’ve checked out. Thanks!
I bought the same machine for a crazy discount during Prime Day. I love the machine. The only issue I feel that I have is exactly what you said with the range of motion. Im 5’10 and my knees are coming to my chest during the press. However, I want to try and get my knees deep into the hole. I think I’m going to try and shim up the back pad with some 2X4 and see it that helps. Thank you for the review. It helped me decide to buy this machine.
I got one barely used for $100. I also got a power rack , a bench with an attachment for legs and a bunch of little pieces like an ab roller , adjustable dumbbells, resistance bands etc that I can use to workout my whole body , I don’t need a bunch of bulky equipment.
I saw this on FB marketplace for $150 used, never used vertical leg press before. Do you feel it in your quads pretty good? Thinking of getting this cause I get low back issues fairly easier
Yeah as long as you can get good range of motion depending on your height. If you have short legs you won’t have good range of motion Try out a few reps if you go check it out
I just bought this model from temu , dont judge me😂😂... when i saw it was the same model that amazon sells, i said why not?? I paid $220 with free shipping. I received it today, i ordered it 6 days ago, and i have to say i was surprised that it came intact and its pretty sturdy (i already put it together. The only problem i have is that i bought it without looking at user height🤦♂️. Im 5.4 and my wife is about 2 inches shorter😅. For me it works fine at the lowest setting, but since im short too, ill do like someone mentioned above, i have some 2x4s there that ill cut down to size, buy some longer bolts from ace or hd and raise the pad, so my wife can use it too...
I bought one of these off Walmart. It was under $400 when I bought 6-7 months ago. Didn't work at all. The ball bearings in the one I got are total trash. I tried 4 different kinds of lubricant, nothing worked. Walmart refunded me my money. The actual build quality for the price though is decent. It looks really nice sitting in my gym, but is totally useless. I am actually going to try and find a different type of ball bearing and have a metal shop remove the original ones.
Edit to my last comment: Your review is still great, but unfortunately once I received my vertical leg press it was literally missing so many parts. No instruction manual, and no bolts were included. Horrible service from GMWD and it sucks because I was sold on their product because of your review. Now I have to ship it back in a few days. There was no way to get in contact with the seller, I ended up just doing the return through one of Amazons robots. I ended up ordering a leg press through Titan fitness since they have some really great reviews and the customers are able to get in contact with a representative from Titan Fitness through the phone. Either way, thanks for the review, but overall horrible experience on my end because of GMWD sending me the vertical leg press with so many missing parts, no bolts and no instruction manual.
@@ShreddedDad appreciate it man, honestly you did such an amazing review on their product but it seriously sucks that there’s no way to get in contact with a representative from GMWD and it also sucks that literally so many things were missing.
@@ShreddedDad okay, so I just started the return process but I missed the part that it says it comes in two packages. Is that how your vertical leg press arrived? Mine just arrived yesterday, but it says on Amazon that both packages arrive on different days so I just want to make sure if it’s correct what it says online and just wait for the second package to arrive if it does.
Naw - design wise it sucks as a legs machine - there's huge risk of rounding your back. Beginneers or dirt poor garage gym owners would be attracted to it - but intermediates would see the pitfalls and downsides. If you really really want the holy grail of leg machine - get a proper belt squat.
This is a great review, thank you!
You bet 👊

Is rounding of the lower back a problem?
No. That depends on how low you bring the weight.
I got one barely used for $100. I also got a power rack , a bench with an attachment for legs and a bunch of little pieces like an ab roller , adjustable dumbbells, resistance bands etc that I can use to workout my whole body , I don’t need a bunch of bulky equipment.
Good stuff
How tall are you? To get a sense of expected ROM from someone shorter/taller than you
5’7”

Currently selling for $470 plus you can add a $25 coupon ➡️ shreddeddad.com/verticallegpress
Make the foot plate wider and longer
Thanks for the suggestion
Where can I order it from
shreddeddad.com/verticallegpress
Thanks
I have the titan version and it’s not smooth :/
Smoothness depends on the type of bearings they use. I've never used Titan's.
@@ShreddedDad rather than buying a new unit is there a way to add bearings?
I don’t think so

Yes mine came in two separate boxes

Easier and safer to enter from the other side. I do on mine.👍Just sit down and lay back. yw!😁=[[[------]]]=

It’s all about form and control with any machine
