Possibly my all time favorite metal core album
Amazing album! One of my favorites is An Ocean Between Us by As I Lay Dying
@@Dyerdrummer another banger!
Killswitch is something special. They are as heavy as you could ever want, yet the lyrics are often uplifting and inspiring. Extremely technical music as well. Plus, Howard Jones has a range and power rarely matched ( Jesse leach is extremely worthy too however)
This will always be my favorite track of theirs, that sadly doesnt get alot of attention. Its a masterpiece and that interlude? Cant touch it
Hey Pastor Rob! It's awesome to see killswitch getting so much attention lately. These guys were my bridge between Metal and my spirituality and it came at a time that was so crucial to who I am as a person. Jesse, the original and now current vocalist, is a very spiritually passionate Christian who spreads the message of positivity without letting his beliefs affect his relationship with his non Christian followers, much like you. I appreciate these guys so much, you should take the time to visit their first album "Alive or just Breathing" and the side project of Jesse and Adam D. (the guitarist and producer) "Times of Grace" which is much more religiously expressive. Take care you guys! Love you and the fam ❤️
Agreed, Times of Grace is a great pick and transition from KE. Willing or Hymn of a Broken Man from Times of Grace are good picks
Really? Last I'd read, Jesse supposedly considered himself "Spiritual" but felt the "Christian idea" of God was far too uncaring and judgmental. If that's changed though, praise God!
@@swolf712 I've always known him to be very much a Christian with a history of struggles with mainstream practice. He's the son of a preacher but has worn the cross around his neck since the beginning of Kse. He doesn't preach so it's easy to miss but his message is clear.
@@swolf712 " I no longer call myself a Christian or subscribe to an organized religion. It’s been years in the making, of just not needing to have a label" so yeah, you're right in a basic sense but I have gone through the transition that he has and I still consider myself to have very Christian ethics.
@@clayman41 'hope remains' is one of my favorite songs ever
Music critics usually call this era "the new wave of American heavy metal". I would say that Killswitch is the one metalcore band from this era who achieved mainstream success.
KSE delivers many positive messages in their music. And I love the Howard Jones era of this band. Jesse Leach is an amazing front man as well but Howard is something special.
howard is currently touring with them and makes guest appearances now and again
Howard’s soaring vocals IS Killswitch to me. Such a powerful voice.
agree. Jesse writes amazing lyrics but unfortunately, he is no longer a christian and it showed in the last times of grace record. The lyrics were no longer that good. And I do not mean that is the case for every writer that left christianity but it is in his case.
The signal fire is alight!
@@Revan-eb1wb the lyrics are honest and still have a ton of value. Just because something isn’t aligned with your personal faith doesn’t mean it’s “worse”. Not to mention that Jesse still believes in God, it’s more the people and social aspect of religion that drew him away from the title of “Christian”.
Their vocal transitions mixed with the extremely well time instrumentals is one of the things that make this band great!
I love killswitch I know they never claimed to be a Christian band a lot of their songs have super positive uplifting messages and if you didn't know any better you'd think man this is a dope Christian metal band
Jesse was a christian. Unfortunately, he no longer is one. But I think that Howard jones still is a christian.
If you want more Killswitch Engage, "When Darkness Falls" is the song to go with. It's heavy, melodic, and has very deep lyrics just like this song. I also request the new Demon Hunter song, "Freedom is Dead "
Good call
Killswitch Engage is extremely positive in their lyrics. This song is a good snapshot example.
My favorite is This is Absolution.
Check out desperate times that one gives me chills especially when Howard says the line but your voice means more to me then you'll ever know that sounds like a cry to a higher power to me again I could be wrong but honestly kse has got me through some dark times and I believe God used them to reach me
BIG YES!!!! Highly recommend this song, one of my most personal and top favorites
I feel the same exact way. This band is so relatable to the Christian experience. No other band brings me closer to God. Killswitch is being used by god.
İ feel you...the chills i get whenever i listen to that song is just crazy.its like am teleported to some other dimensions 😄
This song pushed me through the rough times of being an early teen. This whole album is what I listen to when I need a push to help myself go on
Howard Jones, with 1 of the greatest voices in modern day Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal! Absolutely love KSE!!! They show that you can be a secular band and write meaningful lyrics, and not have to use vulgar language to get their point across!!
"Rose of Sharyn" by this band will blow your socks off and the lyrics are
Wow, this is kind of a deep cut tbh. Love the song though, so I definitely recommend more like it
Such a fantastic band with positive vibes!!! Thanks for your reaction!
when darkness falls is pretty awesome
I've been into Killswitch Engage since the The End Of Heartache album came out. My sister actually introduced me to them. Great and talented band! I got to meet them at Ozzfest 2005 in Phoenix, Arizona and they signed my poster of them. Really cool and down to earth guys! God Bless!
Man i miss ozzfest!
@@frenchtoast2319 Yeah that was actually my last Ozzfest due to I was almost crushed because of mosh pits forming when Mudvayne was performing. And I wasn't trying to get involved and was just there for the music. So meeting the guys of K.E. was the only bright spot besides Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath of course. It was so packed and bleeding hot, as well waaaay too many people there. We were literally like a herd of cattle. We're talking the beginning of August which is one of the hottest months down here in the Phoenix metro area.
@@atranfanatic yeah i went to that same ozzfest but in california. Was iron maiden talking shit about ozzy? He said some mean things about him and sharon in california. It was hard to tell if it was the whole terms of endearment you see in metal or if they were actually pissed.
@@frenchtoast2319 What I read is that Sharon pulled the plug on Iron Maiden at one show years back. And of course it didn't help Sharon's reputation much, especially with Iron Maiden and their fans. I have always loved Ozzy, but absolutely can't stand Sharon. With all that said, I really can't recall if they talked crap about Ozzy or Sharon that night. There was too much going on that day and night. lol
@@atranfanatic yeah i can't stand her either lol. I feel like she contributed to his bumbling nature. Also his kids are horid lol. That year he played with zack wilde right? I saw the ozzfest before or after that one but cant remember which lol. Im pretty sure 2006 was black sabbath. I was in highschool, and had my first mosh pit with behemoth lol.
When Adam D comes in with the clean vocals 😮 KillSwitchEngage has been my favorites band for a long time. Listen to the first (Times of Graces) album
I wish they'd react to The Burden of Disbelief from the second album.
This whole album is amazing.
But Killswitch and gage is a great band.
When Darkness Falls is another one you should check out for the lyrical content. Actually they have so many songs that are super positive
This song is special to me. One of the most if not the most underrated song by them.
It's been a minute.. forgot how much I love pastor Rob
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
1 Timothy 2:1
Maybe you make one reaction on War of Ages. Their drummer go to Heaven next day ago.
RIP and see you in heavens, Kaleb!I think it would be cool to honor his life and service to God with a reaction to his band's track. tep more War of Ages that deserve attention and they have not yet been on this channel
Oh i recommend their new EP Rhema, track called Sleigh to Hands
Collapse is my favorite song by them
Kaleb was a good friend of mine. Played many shows with him in local bands before he joined War of Ages and The Burial, and he was just the most talented and nice guy. We'll miss him dearly.
One of the best ALBUMS EVER! Like Forreal! Do more of this album and find out real quick. Complete band. The more you hear them the more you pick up the background accents that take their music to a whole new level
Definitely gonna come back when I can watch this undisturbed! LOVE this song!
Killswitch Engage is my favorite band! In this song, Adam D (guitarist) is the first clean vocalist you hear (tear down the veil...), and Howard (vocalist) sings the chorus (with open arms...). Howard left in 2011 because of his diabetes, and Jesse Leach, the original vocalist, rejoined. The song "As Sure As The Sun Will Rise" off Atonement will get you guys pumped as well, and I'd definitely recommend it!
Almost all of their songs have a positive meaning behind them. I wish I had understood that when I was a teenager. Maybe then I would have cared about something other then drinking/ drugs. Music had an extremely strong influence on me, and it still does to this day now that I'm 36.
The outro of this song gives me goosebumps every time.
Ahhh a blast from 2007 I friggin love this album and BFMV's Scream Aim Fire from the same year love them both
I have been a huge fan of Killswitch Engage. They got me through several deployments, lots of nights and weekends at the shop. Not too sure how closely they can be tied to Christianity, but then again, not everything I listen to is church ready music. In Flames, KillSwitch Engage, Volbeat, Muse, Deftones, and The Mighty Mighty Bostones were always on my playlist for Deployments.
Both vocalists were/are Christians (the original and current vocalist has been struggling with his faith lately, though), their lead guitarist is a non-churchgoing Christian (despite his foul-mouthed demeanor in live shows) and their other guitarist is from a Christian background. They definitely have Christian roots at the very least and the lyrics are EASILY interpreted from our perspective which is awesome.
Killswitch engage has some of the best outros ive ever heard!
Absolutely one of my favorite KSE songs! Funny enough, I was JUST listening to this album earlier in the shower haha. Check out "The Element of One", "Embrace the Journey... Upraised" and "For You" if you want some of their most overtly Christian-themed lyrics. Also, definitely take a look at Times of Grace's work as that's a side project of the original (and current) vocalist and the lead guitarist of KSE; all of their work is more openly about faith and divinity, which is really appealing to me! Both of their vocalists are/were believers (the original/current vocalist is struggling with his faith though) and the lead guitarist, while very foul-mouthed and goofy live, is a non-churchgoing believer himself. Their other guitarist also has a Christian background from what I recall. If/when you listen to their discography, the Christian roots will be VERY apparent haha
Oh, and addressing the genre thing: KSE is one of the forefathers of metalcore so they're definitely one of the closest bands to the original blend of melodic death metal and hardcore punk (especially apparent on their first two albums). Meanwhile, a band like Silent Planet is considered to be progressive metalcore that leaned into djent for their first EP, then went into post-hardcore (basically a much more melodic metalcore) territory for their first two albums, and their third album until now has just been straight up progressive metalcore. There are a lot of different subgenres of metal but I'd say metalcore definitely has the highest amount of subgenres out there.
Also, KSE is one of the very few pioneers of metalcore that didn't get softer or poppier. I mean, TECHNICALLY they added more emotional/melodic stuff with their third album (The End of Heartache) but overall, every one of their albums has plenty of heavy moments mixed with beautiful moments and it's what makes them my favorite of the old school metalcore scene by far.

Killswitch Engage is amazing.all their stuff is top notch and very positive.my all time favorite band!
This is my favourite Kills witch engage track and a great introduction to the band.
Loving these weekly drops!
Thank you for doing this. Praying for your family. God's got you.
Good to see yall back!
In flames is unreal. Evil in a closet and Quiet place
Pastor Rob and Gauge,
You guys seriously have no idea how happy I was when I saw the title of this video!!
This is one I requested and it’s awesome to see you guys react to it thank you!!
There is the side project from Jesse and Adam from killswitch engage called Times Of Grace… AMAZINGGG.
All We Have is about the importance of forgiveness.
Also what they do well is speak positivity and when you mix that with HEAVY music...man! It's powerful!
Reacting to anything Oh, Sleeper would be awesome!! A staple of mine through high school.
I want you guys reacting to some Oh Sleeper song. So hard to choose, but Endseekers is a great pick. God bless you both and God bless your wife!
One of my favorite KSE songs for sure. Sweet reaction!
I would really like to reccomend "A light in a darkened world" It specifically quotes Joshua "Now choose this day who you will serve"
YES, they played this song for the first time ever live this year and this reaction
Love watching your older videos and then coming upon this one and Rob's beard is longer and clearly has more experience with metal 😆
If you liked this song then you have to check out Any Given Day, Savior is a really good song and would be interesting to see your an alysis of the song
YES. The German KSE!
Big fan of killswitch engage, gonna being seeing them at Blue Ridge Rock fest and am super excited for it. Awesome video as always, keep it up!
I've loved KSE for a long time. This song is a favorite. The message in their songs is often very good as well.
I love the reactions that y’all have to this music. I would love to see Save me by killswitch engage. Also on the slower end of the rock spectrum you should react to in loving memory by Alter bridge. Its a beautiful song and really captures the loss of a loved one and tells the story how they still live on. I lost my sister a year ago unexpectedly and that song has helped me through so much. I would love to see a reaction by y’all someday of that. Thank you both for everything and keep the light shining on these beautiful songs.
You guys should react to more songs off of this album! For You and Still Beats Your Name would be great picks.
I can’t be the only one is a newer and amazing song. I think you guys would love it. Keep it up
lettss goooooo love your content
this is one of my go to channels.. keep up the great content Rob...
Thank you!
One of my favorite Killswitch Engange albums. Also my first one I owned. Owned it when it first came out.
This is entire album from start to finish is a roller coaster if emtions
Always great watching the two of you dive into another song! Should you want more KSE, I'd recommend "I Can't Be The Only One", "A Light In A Darkened World", and one of my personal favorites, "This Is Absolution". All 3 of these songs have an amazing blend of heavy & melodic guitar, with amazing vocals to complement it!
This song was amazing !! I will definitely be looking into this band !
Great to see you guys in the sub box again!
As far as KSE goes, I'd love to see your reactions to Darkness Falls, This Is Absolution, I Can't Be The Only One, and The Signal Fire. The latter has Jesse and Howard, both vocalists, dueting. Heck of a track.
And, as always, I am always down to see you guys break down more Wolves at the Gate. 👀 (Especially their newest album. SO good.)
A couple more great Killswitch Engage songs "The Element of One" from their first album with original singer Jesse or " Take this Oath" from the same album as "Reject Yourself"
Best band ever
More of them! Please!!!
I will always remember seeing KE at ozzfest at shoreline amphitheater. Its an outdoor venue with the stage at the bottom of a hill. At the top of the hill, between songs, Adam D pointed out a dude on horseback just outside the venue on the top of the hill and he shouted "thats fuckin' metal!"
Yeah, you really need to do some In Flames. Seeing them next month in Minneapolis. One of my favorite live acts and I think so many of their songs make me reflect on my faith, even though I know that is not their direct intention
I’m a big Killswitch fan, so many of their songs have messaging that sounds very Christian to me.
I could listen to Howard Jones clean sing anything all day.
There’s so many amazing KSE songs. One of their newest is called the signal fire and has a somewhat similar message and is just a great song featuring both of the singers the band has had over the years.
war of ages " salvation " yall aint ready. yee yee love your views
Just listen to their album Alive or Just Breathing and you will be blown away! Musically and Lyrically!
This is a good song by them. I love watching your channel guys.
Good ol' days of Howard Jones on vocals and the excellent writing/production of Adam D as always. Fun to watch you guys!
I just discovered you guys recently, and I appreciate what you do in picking apart songs musically and lyrically. Memphis Mayfire is good reaction material. "Death Inside" is a song i would suggest for you guys.
“This Fire” from the same record is so good!
Pastor, you should review "desperate times" too, from the same album of "reject yourself". Also, thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. Regards from Brazil.
I have been watching you guys for years and I just wanna say praise God for spiritual leaders like you. I have been a medical junkie for years as well as a continuing learning Christian. I find it absolutely fantastic that you can take a genre of music that is so persecuted and listen and explain and bring positivity out of it. I look forward to every new video in the lyrical breakdowns and the message you put behind it in the scriptures that you recite to reinforce your message and God‘s word. I actually feel blessed with who I am in the fact that I am a huge metalhead and have learned from you guys how to start breaking down lyrics in discerning the messages in the meanings behind things. Thank you Pastor Rob engage keep doing what you’re doing keep the good fight.
My apologies, stupid speech to text getting things wrong. I am legally blind so I use that technology a lot. I meant to say Metalcore junkie not Medical junkie lol.
@@kevinfowler7482 oh lol. I was going to recommend carcass to you, a medicaly focused death metal band haha.
I absolutely love playing this song on the guitar it is such a fun riff to play
Great band and song.
You should really check out Protest The Hero, similar but more advanced guitars, and great high range vocals.
Hard to say one song, but Mist has always been a favorite, it's about their love for the people of a small Canadian island called Newfoundland and the warm reception and love they got when they played there.
You guys have got to do the end of heartache and my curse
I really wanna listen to these discussions in podcast format for my drive. Hoping you get into it eventually!
I saw In Flames on the tour with Megadeth, lamb of god, and Trivium. They were good. They would be a good choice for a video.
Great song to react!
Rain can’t put out In Flames!!! 🔥
This is Absolution off this same album….amazing
I highly recommend, Through the Eye of the Storm (Killswitch of course).
More KSE from you guys Please. Love seeing it.
The Signal Fire is the song you did before with both lead singers. Glad to see y'all reacting to my favorite band again. You could react to any song and I'll be happy. lol Thanks for the reaction fellas!
the song is overused. I rather have them analyize some times of grace songs from hymn of the broken man
Seen these guys live they are awesome! Probably an all time great band on my list. As someone's suggested Rose of Sharyn is a must.
Moshed in a small club during end of heartache album introduced my gf to metal been together since then. Fav band.
Good evening pastor Rob and Gauge. I hope all is well with your family. I hope Kristy is doing good and staying strong with her treatment. It's awesome to see Killswitch Engage around again, I do have a recommendation for Gauge and you. It's a foreign band but it's enjoyable it's called Bloodywood- Machi Bhasad. Stay blessed and have a beautiful night.
Inflames just released a new song The Great Deceiver and it's kind of a throwback to their older stuff.
Please do a reaction to Hickory Creek by whitechapel. It’s from the Valley album and it’s a super deep and emotional song. Beautifully written and amazing lyrics
Great song react! If you guys do review Killswitch Engage again, I recommend the Arms of Sorrow!
The Heretic Prevails by Shadow of Intent would make a great reaction video! Keep up the great work!
Love watching and listening to your take of songs. I would love to see you listen to Fit For A King - Reaper. It's a Banger!!!
My song recommendation by Kill Switch Engage is "This Fire Burns".
The only two Killswitch Engage songs I know are "The Signal Fire" and the one CM Punk used as his theme before he switched to the Living Color song "Cult of Personality".
