Rose of Sharyn is one of KSE's songs that's clearly telling about Christ. Because Jesus Christ is referred to as the Rose of Sharon, a name that means "God-like". The term comes from a Hebrew phrase that means "a flower of the field". In the Bible, the phrase is used in Song of Solomon 2:1, where Jesus says, "I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys". KSE changed "o" to "y". I cried in the part of the song that says "I mourn for those who never knew You" and "It won't be long, we'll meet again. Your memory is never passing"
Im sitting here, listening to this, tears in my eyes. I love KSE. Im born again. going through life with Jesus, and the brokenness and all the hurts... The healing takes time, these encounters in between are moments where I feel all the noise and voices have to bow before the Him opening up His wounds... "And if you needed proof, I'd reopen my wounds in all the right places for you" It's gonna sound so weird, but I swear I felt Jesus talking to me through that lyric. I love this band so freaking much.
When I got saved in 2013, it was a radical prophetic encounter, immediately following “Always” played in my head, and it will forever be a profound song in my faith. Yes! I was listening to Killswitch Engage in my car. I felt the spirit of God. I thought, "This can't be. They're a dark, Gothic, heavy metal group from the early 2000's." Yet I could hear it resonate in my spirit. They're more than a secular group and God is sending messages through their music.

Bro, Killswitch Engage itself as an entity is a spiritual message. Howard and Jesse are both very spiritual in their lyrics. That’s how I know that you’re not that big of a fan because if you were you’d know that. I had to pause this video 10 seconds in to say this
That's news to me. I've seen recent interviews where he still has a crucifix on his neck and still proclaims Jesus as Lord. He's not a legalist if that's what you mean.
I sent a suggestion comment on a Drumble video recommending Killswitch and asided that they more or less fit with Drumble's gospel crowd and lo and behold this "bearded christian" recommend popped up. lol. This band is ripe for the basic themes of channels like this. Their biggest hit in the youtube world can be read as a longing for Christ. The old christian dem POV is strong with these guys, intentional and no. As an outsider who's not part of your audience, you're overthinking this song a bit. The message of most of these KE tracks is the simple, powerful, and universal appeal to overcome our weird human world and ourselves. If they are a christian band, they're more of a Mere Christianity type of band. (that said, I clicked on this as a lark and have no idea about the format world of channels like this)
I appreciate the correlation and do not knock you for making it, because it’s true in your own heart. I can say that to be true, AND sense some cope and projection here for sure. Can’t someone make music that speaks to pain, growth, and honor…WITHOUT it having to have some religious correlation?? Can’t things just be what they are without you insisting you put your religious label on it?
Hey buddy! Appreciate the comment. I would just say this isn't me "insisting" you make it sound like everyone is going around doing this, pretty sure I am the only person to make content like this around Kill Switch and christianity, and I wouldn't do this for just any band to make Christianity fit - but Killswitch specifically have publicially said they have Christian affiliation, they have a side band called Times of Grace which is all about God and the Bible, and honestly mate, you just need to listen to this album. It's plastered in it. And like I said to someone else, some people are satanists, and they share their beliefs in their music, some worship money and music and they do the same, so you really shouldn't be surprised that killswitch who say they have christian beliefs are sharing some of their views in their music. I can show more lyrics which are clearly pointing to biblical narratives. Crownless King as an example:
"No one, no one can save you now Cast down, where no mercy can be found No willingness to bow to a king without a crown Where the virtuous can't be found Defy you, to the depths you descend I defy you, to the death we defend Defy you, your rule will come to an end I defy you, you've become the crownless king The penitent pray for the downfall Of your, of your reign The warrior soul shall break the hold of constraints In the end you will suffer" Please, please tell me this has no religious affiliation? These are also from this album? You can have your own interpretation and please do share it if you're a fan and appreciate this dialogue - you haven't provided an alternative explanation for the lyrics in the video but fine. But from a Christian perspective the crown less king is satan, who rules the earth, but does not have a crown like Jesus. And the christians pray for his downfall. And we defy his attempts to corrupt us, and in the end as the Bible says, he will be caste to hell, where those who live a virtuous life can't be found. What do you see?
@@beardedchristian first off I appreciate the thoughtful and productive discourse. Whether I agree with your perspective here or not, I do respect it ✨✨ My response to your approach here is to remind you that principles of religion and faith - not just Christianity - are and have been present in music since its inception, forever and always has been and always will be that way. To identify verses that reflect general principles of “living right” - honesty, faith, strength, courage, compassion, etc - is not indicative of “Christian” messaging from a “christian band”. It doesn’t HAVE to fall into those categories or labels, does it? Why not “some humans who are like minded and respect faith and honor and associated principles, who some happen to be Christian, make great music with values I can relate to”. Why must it have a Christian message, why not just a “faith” message? In my opinion, that approach embodies the spirit of what the artists are communicating, more so than “its a Christian message from Christians” Do you see what I mean?
@@zz-.- Hey, not sure I follow. So is this a point that you are making to Kill Switch or to my commentary? As I think this is more of a question to their approach to how they are writing their songs? And is a gripe with them sharing their values in their songs? I would say it is important for people to be mindful of what they listen to (and watch) and look out for any agendas - just as a mindful human. And just to note, I don't think Killswitch are a Christian band. I am just commentating on their lyrics from a Christian perspective and highlighting the fact that they are likely writing these lyrics from that perspective. But I don't believe they are a Christian band. They have however made another band - with the same singer and guitarist which is called Times of Grace which have more clear Christian ties - so it's not far fetch again for someone to then look at there previous songs with these eyes. But, either way it's almost a pointless conversation, as yes, we could just ignore any meaning in the lyrics and just little to the nice random words, you try and uncover a message in the lyrics. And it really does not take a rocket scientist to listen to the lyrics in the whole album, then the life of the band, and realize what they are singing about. Does that make sense? I mean I could agree with you. But it doesn't take away the fact the singer calls himself Christian and his influences are rolling into his music.
@@beardedchristian the point is regarding your commentary. I’ll summarize. You choose to see “Christian messages of Christian values” when what I’m pointing out is these are general principles of FAITH, and the fact that you relate it to *your* religion instead of emphasizing applicability of the message in alignment with nearly *all* religion, is what I’m pointing out. These are values of humanity, not just of a particular sect who chooses to identify everything with their own religion, within that global population.
Anyone immediately connecting KSE’s lyrics to Christianity, really have little to no knowledge of biblical theology or doctrine. You’ll find that for a song to be ‘Christian’ it has to be ‘Christ-centered’. KSE’s lyrics promote self sustainability, the strength within, overcoming by self, which is a gnostic principle. There are some nuggets of spiritism, however the overall theme is one of an ecumenical, all-faith encompassing spirituality. With an emphasis on man-centered salvation by effort. If you were to say, that KSE have Catholic sentiment in their lyrics, then I would agree. As the Catholic Church was built on a syncretic mix of traditional pagan religions, and the iconography of 1st century Christianity. However, sound exegetical biblically ‘Christ-centered’ lyrics? Nope. Way, way off. Hence, the definition is not accurate. Jesse Leach is more of an ecumenical figure, who takes a lot of biblical verses, and alters their context for his material. To fit self glorification. So, again, can’t be considered ‘Christ-centered’ or actually Christian. By definition. Incidentally, I was a metal core fanatic prior to being saved, and still listen to KSE occasionally. I know whereof I speak. 👍🏻
Hey dude! Appreciate your message. I actually think we are on the same page. I don't have watched some podcasts with Jesse. I don't think I agree with his theology, and most importantly what makes me unsure most about even his out "salvation" is his language in podcasts. He, unless he has had a change of this theology, also believes that as far as I know many paths lead to the same location (salvation) which I also strongly disagree with. So, honestly with you with this. But really it's the same with any music that is "christian" I don't lit there and look at the doctrine of every singer, I listen to a song and if I get a lesson from it, I run with it and use it for my walk. I have been listening to PlainChant music, I don't agree with Catholics approach on child baptism, but man that music moves me. But yes it should not be miss understood that I do not agree with his theology. To understand the approach of the channel is this: 1 Corinthians 9:19 "Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings." I also do something similar with anime. I don't necessary agree with anime, but I also have taught spiritual lessons from it, as people who like anime need a way for people to relate with them and bring them to the gospel. The point of this is getting atheist or agnostics to be inspired to think about God. I have other videos that then focus more on the Bible. Same with Papa Roach, you can see I have videos on there about them. Will also do some on POD and other artists. Ultimately, we need to learn to eat the meat and spit out the bones. God managed to speak to Balaam though a Donkey, and what Satan intended for evil God can intend for good. I think some artists don't even realize how some of their lyrics can point to God. There is an artist called InMe. They have a song that had me in tears but I know it's very unlikely they were thinking about Christ about this. But hope this helps. I was surprised at how much you had to say on this so thought I would give you a proper response. Ultimately we can't trust in anyone who is online, who we can't see in person, we have to always be weary and take everything with a grain of salt. I am not saying Jesse is some Messiah, just using references from the world to teach, I am making one now from an episode of Dragon Ball Z
@@beardedchristian Hiya, thanks for the reply, and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. 🙏🏻 I agree with what you’re saying, 100%, basically, the Lord can use many means to lead us to Him - in fact, music was one of the ways for me, and it was the distinctive ‘spiritual’ messages that KSE in particular that had a profound impact upon the direction I was lead by The Holy Spirit. 🙏🏻 I can’t argue with the uplifting message that we do hear in their music, and whatever works for an individual to get them through a difficult time is great; I suppose though, being born again, and being versed in False churches/teachers, Christian cults, the WOF charismatic mess etc, I’m just too aware that music is utilised disingenuously under a ‘Christian’ banner at times. I just don’t want people being duped; they can know the truth, and still listen to and enjoy the music, but at least they know. The reference to Balaam and the donkey was excellent, incidentally - a point well made! There’s a fantastic documentary on UA-cam by a pastor named Spencer Smith (who I don’t agree with on everything) it’s called Third Adam and it’s in several parts. One of these parts goes into contemporary Christian music and worship music, and how ‘Gnosis’ is used to stir up emotions of the congregation, who enter a deep emotional state and are spiritually vulnerable, similar to Kundalini practices in Hinduism. I believe that most music can have this ‘gnosis’ effect, to whip up one’s emotions - KSE certainly did that to me, despite the apparent spiritual undertone of Jesse and Howard’s lyrics. Im probably not making as much sense as I want to, haha, you’ll have to excuse me. I tend to either go into too much detail, or not enough. I could go on, but I would recommend the Third Adam series by Spencer Smith, my friend. It opens your eyes further, to the great deception at work in this age, even with the music that sometimes seems so innocuous. 👍🏻 Anyway, to answer your other question, I’m from Wales in the UK. 🏴 The home of the Welsh Revival of 1904-05. In fact, Evan Roberts’ home is less that 8 miles from me, here in Carmarthenshire. Thanks again for the reply, and I’ll be subscribing to see more of your stuff. 🙏🏻
@@beardedchristian I answered the first part in the other reply, haha. 👍🏻 How did I come to my faith? Long, long story. After a life of struggle, depression (I was diagnosed as having ADHD only last year), fornication, drug issues, drifting aimlessly, the Lord came to me first in 2015 when I was seeking answers. First he led me down the Truther path, where I learnt so much about secret societies, the elite, etc. Then I was on my knees in 2016 after my marriage failed and became a single parent, and asked The Lord Jesus to save me, and forgive me, and to help me because I couldn’t go on…I felt the Holy Spirit move in me, it took my breath away. Praise be to God. It’s been a battle every day, though, my friend, the struggles don’t end with justification - sanctification takes time, and trials to even out those rough edges. Every time I fall, He’s there to pick me right back up with His Word. He is faithful, even when my own faith is wavering. 🙏🏻

But there was a lack of true repentence and Biblical teaching in my life, so in 2017 I really gave my life to Christ (as much as anyone can say they do with our weaknesses) and God baptised again. I am broken too is about mental health.
You are very lucky man
Yeah, the cover might be a clue.
The end of Heartache seems to be pretty clear as well.
Nails 😮 Jesus was pierced with nails!
listening to all the work from Howard Jones ( KSE, Light the torch, Sion, Devil you know and other collabs) pretty much everyday. While working or sporting. just the best there is at the moment for my ears and brain. thanks for the video.
cool find !! you never know with music and books they surprise us !!
KSE post Howard is the most underrated band alive right now. They are heavily slept on!
What a great channel you have brother! Please do more kse songs and other bands similar !
Would love to see you look at the divisions album by August burns red
Jesus is great
'Embrace The Journey' (I'm upraised) hits me hard. There's something other worldly about that track...it's almost transcending.
Incase you didnt know, the lead singer from KSE has another band called times of grace
I’ve been a fan for 19 years. They have always had influence from the word IMHO with both singers. Howard was amazing ! Jesse always nails it ! I am thankful for them.
Same
The singer is the son of a Pastor.
kse is full of positive messages, but the deliver kind of hides that. Gotta love KSE :')
Times of Grace has even more of these Faith based elements.
Jesse, Howard, and Adam are all believers for sure.
Hey, funnily enough my last video was on this. check it out :) ua-cam.com/video/50yDHnOYK24/v-deo.html
Thank you so much! ❤ I love Killswitch Engage and I am a devout believer. I have been struggling with life a lot recently and this has given me hope again 🤍
i loved your video. not bad. Jesus Bless.
Ah awesome, glad to hear it! Any recommendations feel free to throw them my way
@@beardedchristian maibe should to see any given day (savior).
Hidden ? Jesse has always brought his religion into the lyrics he writes . This is old news lol
Yes! I was listening to Killswitch Engage in my car. I felt the spirit of God. I thought, "This can't be. They're a dark, Gothic, heavy metal group from the early 2000's." Yet I could hear it resonate in my spirit. They're more than a secular group and God is sending messages through their music.
I've always viewed even their early stuff as self righteous or hippy music it's always been about lifting yourself up having self respect and being true to yourself
All killswitch songs have so many great messages
Come on mate, with you there
"This is absolution" absolutely has spiritual/religious undertones.
They are the most wholesome and their history is inspiring
You should look into Times of Grace..it's linked to Killswitch and Is two members of the band making their own music it's so good and a lot of things that are very similar.
Hey, I have! Take a look at this video: ua-cam.com/video/50yDHnOYK24/v-deo.htmlsi=iFhru40GUUo4xg5H
@@beardedchristian thanks 👍🏼. I often think about messaging in almost all art forms in non Christian art I can find spiritual inspiration as Creativity is a very essence of the creator. It can be twisted for sure but Satan didn't create the arts God created them and will redeem them as he redeems all things back to original intent. Just found your stuff appreciate your perspectives.
Jesse Leach left KsE, formed Tomes of Grace, then came back to KsE
KSE has tons of songs the that reference Christian beliefs...
Also check out Times of Grace, Empire shall fall. Howard and Jesse are two crazy talented hard working artists.
Will do buddy. I have done one video on Times of Grace, but didn't do so well! New one on Killswitch coming out this week
I full endorse this!
You should check out ."all in due time" by kse because I was just listening to it earlier and I think that song has even more of a Christian feel
Nice, will check out out!
Jesses father is a pastor many many lyrics that tie into God and faith and just positive things in general not all heavy music is bad demon hunter and openly Christian band love em all brother
_Most of kSe songs are lyrically positive. "I can't be the only one", "Just let go", "Tribute to the fallen", "all we have", are some of my favs but theres so many more.
_from their christian themed side project band Times of Grace some really good lyrically positive songs are "live in love", "hope remains", "worlds apart" & my personal favorite "Willing"
Howard Jones rocks !!!!
I love Killswitch Engage! I love Metal music, but i try not to listen to songs that have me feeling wrong for listening to it. However, Killswitch Engage never does that to me and I'm happy for that.
Awesome, thanks for sharing
Thanks for the video, bro! 😁
Cheers bud, I need to get another one out this week I think!
My goodness...! New music from them is coming soon apparently! 😊

@@mandalovescatspandas1781 Really? I didn’t know! This is great news
2025 is when the new album drops.
Bro, Killswitch Engage itself as an entity is a spiritual message. Howard and Jesse are both very spiritual in their lyrics. That’s how I know that you’re not that big of a fan because if you were you’d know that. I had to pause this video 10 seconds in to say this
Thanks for the comment 🦾
nowadays i'll definitely pick kse over the current pop music (lyrically speaking).
They sing about Life!!! 😁🇺🇸
KSE often have Christian themes in their lyrics. Jesse no longer identifies with the Christian faith and is more just spiritual now though.
That's news to me. I've seen recent interviews where he still has a crucifix on his neck and still proclaims Jesus as Lord. He's not a legalist if that's what you mean.
@EQOAnostalgia I'm going off a podcast he was on a few years back. It sounded like he had deconstructed.
Thanks man
Almost all of their lyrics are hopeful and spiritual. Great band, though I’m not a big fan of their latest couple of albums.
Kidding me you should listen to it. Killswitch engages side project Times of Grace 2 albums it’s all spiritual.
Yeah for sure, check this one out! Christian Lyrics in Times of Grace "Far From Heavenless"

(that said, I clicked on this as a lark and have no idea about the format world of channels like this)
Listen to Rose of Sharon
Will do! New video coming out this week
They sing about Life!!! This first song is Jesse the original singer not Howard Jones... 😁🇺🇸
Amen 🙏
Hey, try and see if u like p.o.d is a nu metal christian band
Jesse is a PK
Kutless?? you've heard of them?
Yeah I have, but not for a long time. Any songs you recommend?
"No one, no one can save you now
Cast down, where no mercy can be found
No willingness to bow to a king without a crown
Where the virtuous can't be found
Defy you, to the depths you descend
I defy you, to the death we defend
Defy you, your rule will come to an end
I defy you, you've become the crownless king
The penitent pray for the downfall
Of your, of your reign
The warrior soul shall break the hold of constraints
In the end you will suffer" Please, please tell me this has no religious affiliation? These are also from this album? You can have your own interpretation and please do share it if you're a fan and appreciate this dialogue - you haven't provided an alternative explanation for the lyrics in the video but fine. But from a Christian perspective the crown less king is satan, who rules the earth, but does not have a crown like Jesus. And the christians pray for his downfall. And we defy his attempts to corrupt us, and in the end as the Bible says, he will be caste to hell, where those who live a virtuous life can't be found. What do you see?
@@beardedchristian first off I appreciate the thoughtful and productive discourse. Whether I agree with your perspective here or not, I do respect it ✨✨
My response to your approach here is to remind you that principles of religion and faith - not just Christianity - are and have been present in music since its inception, forever and always has been and always will be that way.
In my opinion, that approach embodies the spirit of what the artists are communicating, more so than “its a Christian message from Christians”
Do you see what I mean?
Where are you based BTW? How did you come to faith? Would love to learn more
@@beardedchristian Hiya, thanks for the reply, and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. 🙏🏻
I agree with what you’re saying, 100%, basically, the Lord can use many means to lead us to Him - in fact, music was one of the ways for me, and it was the distinctive ‘spiritual’ messages that KSE in particular that had a profound impact upon the direction I was lead by The Holy Spirit. 🙏🏻
I can’t argue with the uplifting message that we do hear in their music, and whatever works for an individual to get them through a difficult time is great; I suppose though, being born again, and being versed in False churches/teachers, Christian cults, the WOF charismatic mess etc, I’m just too aware that music is utilised disingenuously under a ‘Christian’ banner at times.
Anyway, to answer your other question, I’m from Wales in the UK. 🏴 The home of the Welsh Revival of 1904-05.
In fact, Evan Roberts’ home is less that 8 miles from me, here in Carmarthenshire.

@@beardedchristian I answered the first part in the other reply, haha. 👍🏻
How did I come to my faith?
@@mechaishida7588 Waw, we are very similar, same thing, athiest, depressed, ADHD, went down truther root with conspiracies and also spiritualism for myself - meditation and crazy diets. Had some miracles happen in my life and God baptised in 2015. But there was a lack of true repentence and Biblical teaching in my life, so in 2017 I really gave my life to Christ (as much as anyone can say they do with our weaknesses) and God baptised again. I got married myself 4 years ago now so feel for you on that one my friend, can imagine it was not easy. But look if you ever want support or some guidance I do online zoom studies. I am based in London myself. I even lead an in person small Bible discussion but it's very surface level. Welcome to join that online if you ever want. Cheers, Mike
