    I've got this exact model as my bedroom media PC. Tossed in an I7-6700, Radeon Pro WX4100. I really like this form factor, takes standard desktop components (other than half height PCIE) and it's been a great lightweight 1080p gaming PC and streams my Steam games from my main rig just fine. I really like how your paintjob turned out.

      Also, I saw this tip somewhere else with the rx 6400. It's a PCIE x 4 card. Someone said you can use a hot butter knife or something to carve out the plastic back part of the top PCIE slot so you can slot in the card there. Since I run a blower card, I didn't give this a go, but maybe if you want a larger card or more space for air to get to it, that might be something you can try.

    Even though you covered the cover hole in the computer with your metal dragon cover, I would have filled the metal cut to avoid cutting my fingers in the future while maintaining the computer.

    When I first saw that blue, I thought... "Oh.. I dunno. That's BLUE'.. but the finished product actually looks good. Kind of an R2-D2 vibe going on. I bet that sells well.

    You did a fantastic job! It really gave the pc a refreshed look. But, next time, ill suggest you avoid painting the fan blades as it hurts the fan's performance a bit.

    I've recently built a few Dell SFF computers and like this HP they will only take single slot low profile graphics cards, which limits your options a LOT as far as gaming goes.
    The first one I built I put an RX 550 in just like you did and the performance was essentially identical to yours. Playable average FPS but very annoying stutters/1% lows. The second one I built I put an RX 640 OEM in, which costs about 10 dollars more than the 550 on eBay, and it definitely helped with the stutters even though it didn't fix it completely.
    The 640 OEM is about 20% faster than the 550 in the Time Spy benchmark. A small increase in performance, but when you're limited to a single slot LP graphics card your options are very limited unless you want to spend 2-3 times more on the 6400, so I'll definitely take the 20% boost.
    I also bought a Radeon Pro WX 3200 for the same amount as the RX 640 and they have essentially identical performance, at least in Time Spy.

    You could probably have a better time in an elitedesk of some variety, it's only slightly bigger but it's enough to let it accept dual slot gpu's

    It's a pitty so many of these have the full size pcie slot at the bottom restricting you to single slot cards.

    • @DLMtechgarage
      @DLMtechgarage  9 місяців тому

      yea a bit of a waste but then again it was not designed for a gaming graphics card so it is what it is I guess.

    I used a Quadro p1000, seems like the performance is a little bit better , I love upcycling, I use mine for a TV PC that occasionally plays a few older games.
