OMG. Best video on the subject. I was monkey branched after a four -year mostly good relationship with a fearful avoidant. I am secure. He was aided by her family and couldn’t say no. He wanted to remain friends. I said “Nope”!! and let him go without a test. No questions, no complaints. I wished him well and walked away. NC forever for me. I deserve better. There are mature ways to end a relationship He chose the blindside. I am happier now without him. I am healing and becoming the best version of myself.

Best video about rebound relationships I’ve seen so far. I’m currently in the thick of something uncomfortable at work. There was at least a 2 month build up before we went for it. Even though it only lasted a month we couldn’t agree on certain things, She went right for another coworker. Unattractive guy. Desperate guy. He had no place to live, so he had to move in with her within 3 weeks of dating. Showing off their new relationship at work. Absolutely codependent of each other. He befriended a lady on TikTok. When I found out of his cheating ways, I decided to split up with him in December. It was hard in his rental house , just packing my stuff on my own and putting it in storage so by February 15, 2024 that was my exit to freedom went no contact and blocked him. I have been married to my husband for 18 years and we were together for 25. He left me for a coworker, said he hasn’t loved me for years. He was good at pretending to love me. He has known this woman for years and immediately moved in with her. Makes me think he actually is happier with her because he stopped loving me a long time ago and did get to know her over time. I am crushed, I never saw this coming, so much pain.
I am with you in this, kind of same story. 4 months are past for me, I started now to understand that she (in my case) won’t come back. Let her go is the only thing I can really do for myself, it is tough but I / We must do that. Become a better person for us, focus on us, live for us,, not for someone else. Let them live with the pain that they caused us, not the opposite.

I’m interested in your perspective of this: My bf of 9 months went back to his ex (without communicating with me, stating they had unresolved issues) I had no idea, experienced some distancing, which he said was due to work stress. We had a drama free relationship. We developed a friendship first and became close. I’m not sure therefore whether I was his rebound, his ex, or both of us?! I immediately went NC. I believe he’s a dismissive avoidant and I’m fearful avoidant. He recently blocked me on WhatsApp. It’s been over 6 months now and I’m moving on, with healing. Not looking to get back, but curious and here to learn.

Thanks Paz, I was really hurt and it’s been difficult but I was determined to focus on myself and remain in NC. As much as I had genuine love, I can see this man has some deep issues; fear on so many levels, lack of emotional maturity and very poor communication. I have watched what you recommended and realise now (therapy has also helped) that without doing inner work he is likely to never change. I think he definitely played us both (was very reluctant to tell me, despite my attempts for open and honest communication) I probably have some lingering feelings, but also feel ready to date. Taking my time, as I would hate to use someone as a ‘rebound’. I was curious of my exes actions, considering I hadn’t contacted, or bothered him in any form. He likely blocked me for his own reasons - not indifference!
I have no idea. He had been single for a while before we started dating. He never once mentioned her (spoke about some others) I actually caught him with her in a public venue. Even then he was being extremely ‘avoidant’ when I asked him to explain himself
My ex-fiancé did the monkey branch about 3-4 weeks after the engagement. Basically, even during our relationship, he started arranging his life with her (to make it funnier, she's a married woman with a two-year-old child, who did the same thing to her husband). Ending the relationship with me, he had already been in a relationship with her for some time. Immediately they moved in together. Now they play house. He plays the husband - just a clumsier version, she plays the fiancée - just a better one. They work together, live together, spend every spare moment together. Concerts, parties, outings - she behaves as if she were a teenager, and he as if he were fulfilling all her dreams. I found out that she even wears things I got from him as gifts. And he's so tired from the pace of life that he sleeps at work because he can't cope, but he tells everyone he's happy. He cut himself off from his friends and family. But most importantly, he thinks he's a happy person. Finally. The best part is that she had a weak marriage, and our relationship was very good. But she got into his head so much that he decided she's the one. He completely replaced his feelings for me in 3 weeks. We have no contact. He's happy, and I'm trying to pick up the pieces after all of this
It hurts like hell....take care of yourself and start doing things that make you happy and feel good. People like your ex will never be satisfied. I am currently going through a similar thing....my ex left me for a coworker and they moved in together just 2 weeks after she left us,me and my daughter,now I heard through friends that her man is becoming a mean drunk . Part of me, a small part hopes this is true. The rest of me couldn't care less. But here I am watching this. So that small part of me is very vocal in getting what it wants. If it does happen and it all fails for her. I won't be there to know. I won't be there to help pick up the pieces before like I had in our decade long friendship and 5 year long relationship.
One other thing.. what about a rebound with a family friend or just friends I general? This is what happened to me. They weren't close friends but had been family friends for years. She has some sort of interest in him for while obviously. But very low hanging fruit. Low motivation guy, like I said previously.
Yeah, family friend or just friends in general when they get involved romantically they very soon realize that when the dynamic of the relationship is changing, they all of a sudden feel different and it’s just a matter of time before it’s over.
@@mekkomekko8964 they got engaged in 4 months and will be married Saturday. So in 7 months they dated, got engaged and got married. Unreal. Was the worst pain I've ever felt. We dated 4 years. I had an engagement ring for her. To say the last few months has been absolute hell would be an understatement. She went on a date with him the day after we broke up. And even after a few weeks of being with him still came to me saying she loved me and missed me and wanted to have sex. She never gave me another chance. Even though I was higher level male on all levels. Rarely you are a girl level down but she did. BUT..... God was protecting me. I found out recently she had been talking to her ex boyfriend during the 4 years we dated and even met up with him for sex to keep him on the hook just in case we didn't work out. But in the end she lead him on too. So he got hurt again also. She hurt 2 people . So I dodged a bullet. Now I'm finally getting some confidence back and starting to date. It still hurts at times and I still love and miss her but it's getting easier.
My ex broke up with me 3 weeks ago out of nowhere and I remember feeling so hurt and blindsided. Since then, I have been reflecting on our relationship from beginning to end. When he started dating me, he just broke up with his ex-girlfriend a few months ago (he was in 3 failed relationships before me) and would love bomb me and act super obsessed with me at the beginning of our relationship. I was very naive at that time because he was the first guy I'd ever dated. But after a year I began to notice how insecure, quick-tempered, and emotionally unstable he can be when he is stressed. I would still treat him really well and hoped that he would change, but after 3 years he ended the relationship because he simply "lost feelings for me and is going through a lot" however he said he still appreciated me for everything I did for him. I was super shocked because everything between us seemed fine and there wasn't any fighting. And what's worse is that he ended our relationship on the same date we became a couple. After watching this video, I started to think, was I his rebound this entire time? Because I swear if he finds another girl in a short period of time, then he will become dead to me.
We planned the night out had a fight and he left the bar with her and never left her again. Never came home! I went no contact and he is doing all of the things we had planned with her. All over the place and partying every night dinners concerts trips and what ever. Never knew her and went full on. Speed of light. Omg
I know that the fact that he’s doing everything you guys planned hurts your soul, but just understand that he’s doing this because he lack the emotional strength of dealing with what U2 had together. He’s using her as an emotional crotch. He’s trying to sweep his emotions under the rug, but they will come up to the surface sooner or later, and it will hit him like a Mac truck. Please stay true to yourself. Don’t look back. He will come back, but don’t take him because if he was able to do this to you once he will sure will be able to do this again. So how long after a break up is considered a rebound relationship. Mosr people refer to the next person someone dates after a breakup as a rebound. Which technically would make every relationship, but your first a rebound relationship. So what actually constitutes as a rebound relationship. I left my ex-husband a little shy of two years ago. Does that mean the first person I get involved with is going to be a rebound and is destined to fail? Or did I pass the rebound time table? I honestly have no clue. Lol.
my ex met a guy salsa dancing the day after we broke up. they dated for a few weeks, she introduced him to her parents. Then he had to go to the UK for 5 months. So I'm assuming their doing long distance for now until he comes back. would this actually strengthen their relationship because they are forced to get to know each other better because they have to talk on video phone? or would this separate them more. my ex is 40 years old with a 5 year old kid. the new guy is 30 years old. I rebounded off my four year toxic relationship, and of course it didn’t work out! lol, I made a lot “too perfect, too easy” oops, I got obsessed over his rejection and some weeks or a month later he got with someone else. But it was never meant to be
If I would have known earlier that I was a rebound, I would have taken things a lot slower with him and asked tons of questions. Number 6 was downfall of our relationship. After being loved-bombed by him for three months , he broke up with me (last month) and ran back to his ex-fiance/husband (whatever they were). I'm not sure who reached out to who, however he did tell me when it happened which was a week or so before we broke up. After doing some digging, I estimate that he was broken up with him for roughly 3 months before he met me.

I broke up with my gf of 2.5 years and I asked her to move out. Three weeks later I was walking her dog she abandoned with me. I came around the corner of my street and low and behold, her car is parked in the driveway of my neighbor at 7am. She is 48yrs old and he is 28 which is the same age as her oldest son! The reason I asked her to leave is I found out she has been married 8 times! There is no f^*&ing way I was going to be the 9th. Why am I still upset with this? IDK. My therapists says she is trying to quickly get back to the level of our relationship with someone so she does not have to worry about having to start over from scratch. She is simply a horrible person and my antenna was broken when we started dating. It's been 2 months of seeing her come and go. What she does not know is all my neighbors I have known for 20+ years are asking me "hey, why is the car that has been parked in your driveway now parked over there?" I tell them and we chuckle! Hey coach I listen to your video. So let me give you a little background on my relationship. First I moved in her house after I went through surgery I stayed a week and then went back home. How do I know I wasn't the rebound? We broke it off and on over our 2 years together, a couple times from him getting back - reinvolved with a former GF. Its selfish for a person to use another for their own personal comfort.

Not much, I know, but trying to slow it down. I also think he's an avoidant. He's been reaching out to me since he broke up 3 weeks ago. I was partly to blame for the break up, due to disrespecting him. He ran hot cold often and a couple times he left for weeks, he'd be on vacation with her in Costa Rica or 'helping her out' . Not sure why they just hadn't stayed together

Actually they often DO work. Men who lose a spouse especially, are known for either dying within months of their spouse. Or, they get into a new relationship in weeks or months. And stay together long term. You're speaking as a young person with options. Some rebound with someone they knew in their past.
My ex got into another relationship 4 months after our twelve years of marriage. 4 months later we started sleeping together again. She started love bombing me. Then we broke it off when she went thru my phone and found out I was speaking to other women. She got super upset and I moved out. I miss my kids but it was for the best. Now whenever I pick up my girls she's always upset, stressed, depressed. It's so strange.

Funny the thing that you mentioned about engagement. I was engaged with my fiancé that left me. She met a dude 2-3 weeks after separation, one of the first things that she said to me was that he immediately spoke about how much he wanted to marry her😂😂 Of course she fell for it.
@sgood1995 Well, actually, I've had a bit of a relapse over the last few days. But I'm doing much better now. It's been six months since the breakup, and I have a new job that I like. I'm working out and spending my time improving myself by reading a lot of psychology and philosophy and going to therapy. Some days are still hard, though, and sometimes anger and disappointment resurface. I don't know what my ex is doing, and I don't stalk her. I assume she is still with her rebound.

We all thought that they were the one, that they would never leave us to dry, never devalue us, and always be our forever. My ex GF monkey branched/rebounded (very thin line to distinguish) 2 months ago after 10 yrs to someone she met for a month, but still wanting to be friends, and asking advice when they fought. Nope walked away, unfriended. It hurt I know, can't eat, can't sleep, anxiety attacks, feeling like the world crumbled in itself, good thing I myself is a professional therapist, made all the things to do, like journaling, listing all the negative and positive traits the person has, all the negative and positive experience we had, and you'll eventually see the truth for yourself, now I'm healing NC for 2 months, ex greeted me on my bday 3 days ago, was gonna ignore but sent a "thanks" as a reply anyways. Bro my ex left me saying she was depressed and needed to work on herself. I didn't fully understand it, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. So that I wouldn't look like the bad guy in this situation. I just said ok whatever, just do whatever you have to do. She would come back and say I wanna make this up to you. Just to change her mind again. Next thing I know she's posting all these weird stories on her instagram and I can tell that they weren't about me. After I confronted her multiple times she finally admitted that she started liking someone else. And I said so you cheated on me, and she denied it and blocked me. In my eyes monkey branching is cheating. But regardless what she thinks, thats on her. And it's her problem now. And I learned not to persue a woman after she breaks up with you, no matter what. If anything I hope she gets the help she needs, because she made me feel miserable playing with my emotions like that. And all I did was treat her how any man should.

My ex had a rebound relationship with his colleague 2 weeks after we ended our 3-year relationship (he even used to ask me to marry him one month ago before we broke up). That relationship went so fast and seemed so easy for him because that female colleague had a crush on him first and tried to meet his needs in every way. They cuddled and hung out as a real couple right after he accepted that he also liked her. But he hasn't admitted that they are a couple or wanted to establish a romantic serious relationship with her because deep down he knew that his emotion was unstable. The fact is after 1 week he's with her, he still came back to meet me and say that he still loved me. After I refused him, he came back to that girl again and said that he liked her and no longer loved me anymore. He even tried to keep his distance to avoid skinship with me. But whenever I approached him, kissed him, or hugged him, he still accepted it and showed that he enjoyed it. He cuddled and hugged her but still dreamed of getting married with me. He also slept with me several times this month (most of the times I'm the one who turned him on because I still loved him and wanted to test if he still had feelings for me or not, but he admitted again that he still loves me but didn't want to love me anymore). And now I know that he obviously still had something for me but had feelings for that girl at the same time. I know that this is unhealthy and I don't really want to let this unstably emotional boy into my life. This morning, I decided to end this complex relationship, accept that he doesn't relate to me now, and just focus on myself now to attract a better man with high standards into my life. I I transfer my love for him by wishing all the best for him every single days and hoping that he can get out of the relationship with that girl to focus on his self into the wish for him to do well.
Yes. My ex--husband jumped quickly into a rebound relationship (he said to me he needed to share a flat and she was his flatmate 😄). They've stayed together for years now, but the main reasons are convenience and the need to prove he (they?) was right... He always needs to be right. He never seemed to experience grief or any emotion after the divorce, maybe a some relief.

And what gives me the ick is that she is his distant cousin & she likes him so much 😂 having the same name as me and might be another version of me. I am with you in this, kind of same story. 4 months are past for me, I started now to understand that she (in my case) won’t come back. Let her go is the only thing I can really do for myself, it is tough but I / We must do that. Become a better person for us, focus on us, live for us,, not for someone else. Let them live with the pain that they caused us, not the opposite.

My bf of 9 months went back to his ex (without communicating with me, stating they had unresolved issues) I had no idea, experienced some distancing, which he said was due to work stress.
We had a drama free relationship. We developed a friendship first and became close.
I’m not sure therefore whether I was his rebound, his ex, or both of us?!
I immediately went NC. I believe he’s a dismissive avoidant and I’m fearful avoidant.
He recently blocked me on WhatsApp.
It’s been over 6 months now and I’m moving on, with healing. Not looking to get back, but curious and here to learn.

Thanks Paz, I was really hurt and it’s been difficult but I was determined to focus on myself and remain in NC. As much as I had genuine love, I can see this man has some deep issues; fear on so many levels, lack of emotional maturity and very poor communication.
I have watched what you recommended and realise now (therapy has also helped) that without doing inner work he is likely to never change.
I think he definitely played us both (was very reluctant to tell me, despite my attempts for open and honest communication) I probably have some lingering feelings, but also feel ready to date. Taking my time, as I would hate to use someone as a ‘rebound’.
I was curious of my exes actions, considering I hadn’t contacted, or bothered him in any form. He likely blocked me for his own reasons - not indifference!
I have no idea. He had been single for a while before we started dating.
He never once mentioned her (spoke about some others) I actually caught him with her in a public venue. Even then he was being extremely ‘avoidant’ when I asked him to explain himself
My ex-fiancé did the monkey branch about 3-4 weeks after the engagement. Basically, even during our relationship, he started arranging his life with her (to make it funnier, she's a married woman with a two-year-old child, who did the same thing to her husband). Ending the relationship with me, he had already been in a relationship with her for some time. Immediately they moved in together. Now they play house. He plays the husband - just a clumsier version, she plays the fiancée - just a better one. They work together, live together, spend every spare moment together. Concerts, parties, outings - she behaves as if she were a teenager, and he as if he were fulfilling all her dreams. I found out that she even wears things I got from him as gifts. And he's so tired from the pace of life that he sleeps at work because he can't cope, but he tells everyone he's happy. He cut himself off from his friends and family. But most importantly, he thinks he's a happy person. Finally. The best part is that she had a weak marriage, and our relationship was very good. But she got into his head so much that he decided she's the one. He completely replaced his feelings for me in 3 weeks. We have no contact. He's happy, and I'm trying to pick up the pieces after all of this
It hurts like hell....take care of yourself and start doing things that make you happy and feel good. People like your ex will never be satisfied. I am currently going through a similar thing....my ex left me for a coworker and they moved in together just 2 weeks after she left us,me and my daughter,now I heard through friends that her man is becoming a mean drunk . I had an engagement ring for her. To say the last few months has been absolute hell would be an understatement. She went on a date with him the day after we broke up. And even after a few weeks of being with him still came to me saying she loved me and missed me and wanted to have sex. She never gave me another chance. My ex broke up with me 3 weeks ago out of nowhere and I remember feeling so hurt and blindsided. Since then, I have been reflecting on our relationship from beginning to end. When he started dating me, he just broke up with his ex-girlfriend a few months ago (he was in 3 failed relationships before me) and would love bomb me and act super obsessed with me at the beginning of our relationship. I was very naive at that time because he was the first guy I'd ever dated. But after a year I began to notice how insecure, quick-tempered, and emotionally unstable he can be when he is stressed. I would still treat him really well and hoped that he would change, but after 3 years he ended the relationship because he simply "lost feelings for me and is going through a lot" however he said he still appreciated me for everything I did for him. I was super shocked because everything between us seemed fine and there wasn't any fighting. And what's worse is that he ended our relationship on the same date we became a couple. After watching this video, I started to think, was I his rebound this entire time? Because I swear if he finds another girl in a short period of time, then he will become dead to me.

I know that the fact that he’s doing everything you guys planned hurts your soul, but just understand that he’s doing this because he lack the emotional strength of dealing with what U2 had together. He’s using her as an emotional crotch. He’s trying to sweep his emotions under the rug, but they will come up to the surface sooner or later, and it will hit him like a Mac truck.
Please stay true to yourself. Don’t look back. He will come back, but don’t take him because if he was able to do this to you once he will sure will be able to do this again. Continue to work on yourself. Learn from this experience and become the best version that you can be , use this pain to grow because these two shall pass.

So how long after a break up is considered a rebound relationship. Mosr people refer to the next person someone dates after a breakup as a rebound. Which technically would make every relationship, but your first a rebound relationship. So what actually constitutes as a rebound relationship. I left my ex-husband a little shy of two years ago. Does that mean the first person I get involved with is going to be a rebound and is destined to fail? Or did I pass the rebound time table? I honestly have no clue. Lol.

my ex met a guy salsa dancing the day after we broke up. they dated for a few weeks, she introduced him to her parents. Then he had to go to the UK for 5 months. If I would have known earlier that I was a rebound, I would have taken things a lot slower with him and asked tons of questions. Number 6 was downfall of our relationship. After being loved-bombed by him for three months , he broke up with me (last month) and ran back to his ex-fiance/husband (whatever they were). I broke up with my gf of 2.5 years and I asked her to move out. Three weeks later I was walking her dog she abandoned with me. I came around the corner of my street and low and behold, her car is parked in the driveway of my neighbor at 7am. She is 48yrs old and he is 28 which is the same age as her oldest son! Hey coach I listen to your video. So let me give you a little background on my relationship. First I moved in her house after I went through surgery I stayed a week and then went back home. I never said we broken up but she assumed we did and now she wants nothing to do with me. She doesn't even want me back she doesn't even wants to talk to me and she block me. Not much, I know, but trying to slow it down. I also think he's an avoidant. He's been reaching out to me since he broke up 3 weeks ago. I was partly to blame for the break up, due to disrespecting him. He ran hot cold often and a couple times he left for weeks, he'd be on vacation with her in Costa Rica or 'helping her out' . Not sure why they just hadn't stayed together

My ex boyfriend broke my heart when he broke up with me. Now not even a month after he is dating someone else. He even had the nerve to say that this new woman is more grateful than me. Me who has been with him for 4 years. I supported him and loved him, esp when his mother passed away. This hurt me even more. Actually they often DO work. Men who lose a spouse especially, are known for either dying within months of their spouse. Or, they get into a new relationship in weeks or months. And stay together long term.

My ex got into another relationship 4 months after our twelve years of marriage. 4 months later we started sleeping together again. She started love bombing me. @sgood1995 Well, actually, I've had a bit of a relapse over the last few days. But I'm doing much better now. It's been six months since the breakup, and I have a new job that I like. I'm working out and spending my time improving myself by reading a lot of psychology and philosophy and going to therapy.
Some days are still hard, though, and sometimes anger and disappointment resurface. I don't know what my ex is doing, and I don't stalk her. I assume she is still with her rebound.

Bro my ex left me saying she was depressed and needed to work on herself. I didn't fully understand it, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. So that I wouldn't look like the bad guy in this situation. I just said ok whatever, just do whatever you have to do. She would come back and say I wanna make this up to you. Just to change her mind again. Next thing I know she's posting all these weird stories on her instagram and I can tell that they weren't about me. After I confronted her multiple times she finally admitted that she started liking someone else. And I said so you cheated on me, and she denied it and blocked me. In my eyes monkey branching is cheating. But regardless what she thinks, thats on her. And it's her problem now. And I learned not to persue a woman after she breaks up with you, no matter what. If anything I hope she gets the help she needs, because she made me feel miserable playing with my emotions like that. And all I did was treat her how any man should.

My ex had a rebound relationship with his colleague 2 weeks after we ended our 3-year relationship (he even used to ask me to marry him one month ago before we broke up). That relationship went so fast and seemed so easy for him because that female colleague had a crush on him first and tried to meet his needs in every way. They cuddled and hung out as a real couple right after he accepted that he also liked her. But he hasn't admitted that they are a couple or wanted to establish a romantic serious relationship with her because deep down he knew that his emotion was unstable. The fact is after 1 week he's with her, he still came back to meet me and say that he still loved me. After I refused him, he came back to that girl again and said that he liked her and no longer loved me anymore. He even tried to keep his distance to avoid skinship with me. But whenever I approached him, kissed him, or hugged him, he still accepted it and showed that he enjoyed it. He cuddled and hugged her but still dreamed of getting married with me. He also slept with me several times this month (most of the times I'm the one who turned him on because I still loved him and wanted to test if he still had feelings for me or not, but he admitted again that he still loves me but didn't want to love me anymore). And now I know that he obviously still had something for me but had feelings for that girl at the same time. I know that this is unhealthy and I don't really want to let this unstably emotional boy into my life. This morning, I decided to end this complex relationship, accept that he doesn't relate to me now, and just focus on myself now to attract a better man with high standards into my life. I I transfer my love for him by wishing all the best for him every single days and hoping that he can get out of the relationship with that girl to focus on his self into the wish for him to do well.
Yes. My ex--husband jumped quickly into a rebound relationship (he said to me he needed to share a flat and she was his flatmate 😄). They've stayed together for years now, but the main reasons are convenience and the need to prove he (they?) was right... He always needs to be right. He never seemed to experience grief or any emotion after the divorce, maybe a some relief.

Paz is pretty sure that ALL rebound relationships will ALWAYS fail. That is far from the truth. 10-20% of such relationships survive as well depending on how intelligently the partners handle it.
