It's Sonic interrupting Shadow in the "I'll make you eat those words" cutscene that makes it so good in my opinion. It just feels so much more relatable since Sonic is really pissed off.

basically gerald robotnik discovered two murals the one from soinc adventure 1 which shows perfect chaos
this lead to the biolizard
and he also discovered the mural in sonic 3 which shows super sonic
this lead to shadow being created and explains why shadow has his quills turned up just like super sonic's
and the reason the biolizard and shadow are black and red is because of they are both made from black doom's blood
and as you can see in the shadow game the all of the black arms are black and red
so the colors were passed on genetically

I replay this game all the time and I still think it's great. Eggmans level offer a satisfying "blow em all up" arcade kind of gamemode while the treasure hunting levels are fun to explore and memorize.
This game was Chao Adventure 2 for me.

+Anyway Channel. Just because people like the Game Grummps say it, everyone needs to believe it. I played SADX myself and really enjoyed it. I had it's age in mind and still think, it's a well crafted game.

Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 on the other hand are still fun for its Sonic and Tails levels and the Chao part.
Those games are still fun. Sure, they're dated but I can play them and still have a good time. With sonic, I get nothing like that.
If the moon had suddenly lost half its mass, would it still keep its synchronous rotation?
I don't know exactlty how it would rotate, but since the gravity between two objects is dependent on each of their masses, it's probably a safe assumption that if the Moon had lost a significant chunk of mass that it would simply fly out of orbit around Earth. Not to mention the Laser that the ARK fired at it should have resulted in some kind of reaction. But this is just a 3D Sonic game, they aren't exactly known for very good physics.
Well the world would also flood because of that but it's a Sonic game they aren't exactly known for scientific consistency
@@jacobmonks3722 The Earth would still likely be the biggest mass near the moon so it would still gravitate to it, but throwing off the rotations balance could see it drift away gradually or at least give it a weird orbit.
Did you know that Rouge the Bat has jiggle physics in this game? It's true. When I saw it, I laughed for about 10 minutes straight.

I just noticed when I replayed the game a couple of days ago.
Its not impossible that the moon rotates towards the earth, since the synchronous rotation comes from the moon being slightly bent though earths gravity which makes it elliptical which also makes that the wider side of that ellipse is dragged more towards the earth which over millions of years made the moon rotate at the speed that it goes around the earth. So if one side was missing, the heavier, undamaged side of the moon would over time turn towards the earth. Correct me if im wrong.

Might be. I mean, it blew off half the side... depending on which side, it would also fasten/slow the moons orbit or even throw it out of it. But i think we wont be able to test this for a long while :p

The best part about SA2 (or, the Dreamcast version of SA2) is the fact that you can find Big the Cat in almost every stage, just standing around. I used to think that it was just done as a joke, but there's a reason behind it.
Turns out, the director of the game was so angry about the negative response to Big that he took personal offense to it and decided to throw Big into random parts of the game as revenge.
Sadly, they were almost all scrapped from the Gamecube port (not sure about the PC and other ports of the game).
They're back in the PC port, I believe! Although it's been awhile and I need to check. But I'm pretty sure they're there.

But yeah it's weird to just be watching a video, trying to learn some facts about sa2 and out of nowhere see yourself next to Takashi Iizuka. He was super cool about signing people's stuff. We caught him, Kazuyuki Hoshino and Aaron Webber hanging around as everyone was leaving.

Am I the only one around here that truly, genuinely liked this game? I can understand the love of the original 2D versions, and I understand the criticism of Sonic 06 and beyond, but this game is way different, I feel, and is in a class of its own in terms of Sonic games. I loved it, and if there happened to be a new game very similar in variable play style and feel (and pace, above-par control, etc) I would absolutely buy it.

I agree that out of all the 3D Sonic Games this one made my childhood. The game was legit fun and I never minded the cut scenes either. Even the Chao Garden made the game even more worth playing but out of how cute and fun it was to see what you could do with the chaos. It's like no matter what you learn more and more new things about them like discovering they're different personalities and such. People can say what they want but this is, in my opinion the BEST 3D Sonic Game to this day. Sega should bring back the chao garden.
+SladeLumn I know right? I liked Mario 64, but I can still admit, that it has a slew of issues. For one, Bowser battles.. I want to say this. There few times, I actually found a Bowser fight epic. I suppose, its because they always let you fight him early at least once.. So, no surprise? And one of my favorite Mario games is Super Mario World. It was pretty cool, but it didn't make me feel overwhelmed.

Well, to be honest.. Super Mario World is one of my favorite games.. and yes, that final boss music is very epic.The fight itself is okay at best, and gives a lot of spectacle to make itself *feel* big, but unfortunately, its just the same previous two fights as before. I would say, Mario Sunshine, but that ended with Bowser in a bath tub.. So not very epic. I don't know. Maybe your battle with him in Super Marioh Bros Wii?

My favorite game of all time (and no, it’s not just because of the speed stages or the Chao garden, or nostalgia, it’s because it’s an amazing game).
Did you know? This game remains one of my favorite Sonic games of all time despite any of its faults (such as camera issues, minor glitches, etc.), which I still enjoy playing to this day. :D
Not gonna lie, i actually really liked the characters speaking over each other like that, made the game feel more real to me.
I love how nowadays Sonic is just the punching bag of the Internet Gaming industry and if you ever try to defend Sonic in any aspect you're just a "fanboy" In my opinion the Sonic fanbase isn't bad, it has the same flaws as any other fan base. It's just a fad now to hate Sonic simply because the Game Grumps, jontron, projared & others said so and now their fans "have" the same opinion. No hates towards those UA-camrs, I often watch them a lot.

+Gothicslenderman What was interesting, is that not one of those UA-camrs had an actually valid complaint unless its an obvious target, like Sonic 06 or Sonic Boom. The complaints they use, I could use the same way for games like Mario. A lot of people like to praise Nintendo, but some forget that a lot of their franchise's starting titles on the NES had issues. Super Mario Bros was a good game, but it has required exploration, and the game punishes you for not searching for power ups with harder gameplay. Zelda is an exploration game, with a different set of difficulties on finding out its significant secrets, and just finding out on rather if you are progressing through the game. Metroid suffers the same problem as Zelda where it rewards exploration, but you still have no clue if you are progressing through the game.
And finally, I can agree. The Sonic Fanbase is only bad, because the company listens to it completely. On its own, its no different from the Mario fanbase, Zelda Fanbase, or many other games fanbase.

Loved this game as a kid and still do now! Sure it has issues, but it was the most mature Sonic story since the cartoon in the 90's, and Eggman was an actual threat! Plus, Sonic and Shadow's speed was just so perfect, and they were agile too!

Sonic is seen more of a cartoon(obviously) and the eyes are just that like in other cartoons in the 90's in Rayman Origins an Legends Rayman also has one eyeball
they didn't bother to separate them because it's easier to draw at the time and it became staple in Sonic's future designs

The physics were god-awful, the story was horrendous at best , and of course the gameplay was nothing special either.
Bleck98534 Sonic Adventure 1 has worse physics, Heroes Colors and Lost World have worse stories, and Sonic Adventure has the exact same gameplay but less polished (since it's the first iteration) with the addition of fishing stages. With all these games having quantifiably worse aspects it's impossible for SA2 to be "the worst 3D Sonic game. This is to say nothing of Sonic '06 and Sonic Boom.
If you wanna troll, you're gonna have to try harder than that.

But I actually enjoyed most of the game with the obvious sonic and Shadow levels I enjoyed most of the treasure hunting levels with the exception of the two spaced levels. and I really enjoyed tails and eggmans play style. so in my opinion it is a really great game just most people don't like the other parts because it's not Sonic

Knuckles and Rouge. Slower by comparison. They run at almost the same exact speed as Sonic and Shadow, arguably faster since they have a lot more room to run around in. Mech shooters yeah, obviously slower, but if you're going to argue against other playstyles, don't make up facts to support your argument.
WritersBlah I said slow by comparison, not that the other characters are slower or faster than Sonic and Shadow. You cannot argue that the CORE GAMEPLAY for the Sonic and Shadow sections are more fast paced then the other two since you're not looking for any items, just reaching the exit as fast as you can and you cross a lot more ground in a shorter amount of time. You don't really feel as much forward progress, in a confined arena.
If you're going to argue against someone, make sure you have an actual point to make.
I understand your argument, but I respectfully disagree, and this is including mech shooting levels. The non-hedgehog stages are only as slow as you make them out to be, which for apparently many people, is considerably slow. The treasure hunting stages are synergized by Knuckles/Rouge's speed, and the search to grab all three shards is a hectic experience if you actually attempt to do it quickly. Careful use of gliding, drill drive, and attacking to increase your acceleration on the ground is a really demanding balancing act, but also an intensely satisfying experience. The spirit of a Sonic game lies not just in a goal, but in how you get to that goal, and within this, speed is a constant factor.
And heck, I think I actually appreciate the mech shooting stages more now than when I first played them. The clunky controls are a detriment, a barrier to hat the player is normally used to, but a mech''s top speed is still considerably fast, and making the challenge in trying not to lose that speed is what makes the levels so fun to play. Jumping and hovering to cut corners reduce the amount of speed lost becomes the name of the game.
I don't know, I think the gameplay of SA2 becomes a lot more fun and deep when you attempt to speedrun the game, and the game feels really optimized for speedruns, finding this really neat balance between being kept on your toes to improvise if you mess something up and outright speed, which is what the spirit of a Sonic game really embodies. Hell, you don't even need to go for an outright speedrun, have you ever tried A-ranking every mission in the game? That crap is so hard, but once you make that perfect run, you feel like you're on top of the world.
So to conclude, the game really is fast in all of its levels. I hate to phrase it like this, but it's just reliant on your ability to "git gud."

+A Bush The _early_ screenshots from the prototype that Big Red Button made before Sega forced them to remake the game from scratch on the Wii U looked really, really impressive. Almost like a sorta Jak And Daxter-ish game except with Sonic and for the "next-gen" consoles.
The final game pretty much killed the series for a lot of people.

My theory about the moon is that the moon rotated because of the push from the blast.
That is impossible, I am pretty sure, but that wouldn't be a bad explanation.
I'm amazed that Shane is still able to find new pieces trivia for this game that I haven't already heard. DYKG is probably the only game trivia show where I genuinely didn't already know most of the things they include

Manual Danual I have a about 8 pairs. you can also use them to slide on ledges, benches, tables, bike racks, or painted curbs. I wasn't into skating either when i got my soaps, but a year later and im already skateboarding

Oh yeah. I look at this game and notice a lot of really glaring issues. (especially in cut-scenes, those are rather atrocious actually) But it's still one of my all-time favorite games, and nothing anyone can say can change that.

I used to love this game as a kid on the GCN. The song on the first stage was awesome.
There's a reason why the same side of the moon always faces the earth. The term is actually called *tidal locking*. Since the force of gravity increases as you get closer to the source, the half of the moon closer to the earth gets stretched toward the Earth in a big bulge. If the moon were spinning relative to Earth, this bulge would drag across the moon, creating a lot of internal friction, heating the moon up and slowing it down until it becomes tidally locked to one side.
Now, if the moon suddenly lost about half of its mass, a whole mess of complex things would happen. For one, angular momentum would need to be conserved, so the moon will start rotating much faster about its new center of gravity and the side of the moon facing Earth would change, breaking the tidal lock. The sharp edges along the flat end of the hemisphere would crack under the stress and collapse, compacting the moon into a sphere once again, albeit half the volume. The result would be a smaller, lumpy, sort-of-normal-looking moon in perhaps the span of a few months.
Even so, unless you had enough energy concentrated into one beam to gravitationally unbind half of the moon (somewhere on the order of 6 octillion joules, 6e28), the moon rock you'd blow off would just fall back into the moon and re-form into it in a short time. The moon would probably be a hot, molten mess for a while, but the end result is basically the same thing you started with - a round, grey moon.

It's not a perfect game (controls feel a bit loose and there's the obvious audio problems) but it's still quite a good one, and built on what Adventure 1 started in the blue blur's transition to 3D. I hope Sega makes an Adventure 3 now that they've done all this experimentation with different gameplay styles. (Knuckles needs that Werehog fighting albeit without any stretchy arms)

With the moon rotating fact, the synchronous rotation only works because of the moon's mass. If the moon's mass decreased by about 33% let's say, it's orbit around the earth would be about 33% faster to conserve angular momentum. Also not accounted for is the slight shift in orbit due to the laser impact. I'm actually curious how much this would affect the moon's orbit now.
With the crazy world of Sonic, I wouldn't be surprised if someone went up there and rebuilt it.

Well since g = (M1 * M2) / r^2, and the M of the moon has decreased significantly, the force of gravity bwtween the two objects is significantly weaker. It might just make the moon fly out of regular orbit.
Not to mention what destroying half of it did to the tides
I can still play the hell out of SA1, SA2, and Heros. Those game were so fun to me growing up, and even more when I started getting better with score attacking. You know your good at sonic games when you are close to the top of the stage on most maps.

+Alex Vazquez I heard the story is like this: SEGA wanted to make a game for Sonic 15th anniversary for XBox, PS and Wii, but the team divided because the Wii was hard to work with, so the Xbox and PS versions had to work with an even smaller group of people, while Sonic 06 for the Wii was completely ditched in favor of Sonic: The Secret Rings. All of these games were completely late by the time of Sonic's 15th anniversary and Sega had to rush their release, but Secret Rings was too early in development for a release so they had to make a rushed port of Sonic's original game for the GBA. So two rushed games resulted 06' and Sonic Genesis, often seen as the two worst Sonic games prior to Sonic Boom, and a third underwhelming game came later because of Sega's lack of experience with the Wii that was quickly forgotten.
Then the story pretty much repeated itself with the Sonic Boom titles, Sega gave their IP to former Naughty Dog employees and Sanzaru Games that made some notable games (Sly Cooper for the PSP and the God of War collection), but BigRedButton's lack of experience with Sonic games and the Wii U in general resulted in a Crash Bandicoot game with a Sonic skin, and Sanzaru's lack of experience with Sonic and the 3DS altogether resulted in an incomplete game that was mediocre at best. And guess what? Both were ALSO rushed to market because of the TV show and Christmas time. I just hope that this time SEGA learned their lesson that

And Sega wanted to release the game for the series' 15th anniversary even though it wasn't really finished yet. And one half of sonic team was busy working on the mess that was Secret rings for the Wii.
I love this game and Sonic Adventure 1 to death, i can tell what made them flawed and why they didn't' age well but that doesn't stop me from loving them, call me nostalgia blind but to me those games hold a very special place in my heart , i don't care what haters say.

I love(d) this game. Picking up powers ups, going back to old stages with the power ups to find new power ups, playing all the different mission (collect 100 rings, find the lost chao ect) all gave the stages such replay ability... Not to mention the best reason to play a stage ... Getting the right chaos drives and animals for your chao... Chao races and Chao karate were so fun... O how I wish these would all return
Yes, but when 2/3 of the game is awful, the game doesn't have anything going for it except the Chao Garden, which makes you replay levels, meaning you replay the good levels (AKA, not any of Rouge's, Knuckles', Tails', or Robotnik's stages)

Sonic Adventure 2 is the best Sonic game for me. Hands down! It created a certain feel for me. After that, Sonic started to die...I mean Sonic Heroes and Generations were cool, but they didn't have that feel...I just wish SEGA would go back to using the same engine they used on SA2...shit they even admitted the past few Sonic games have been fails...
