I always liked that delivery honestly and never knew it was a mistake. Made it feel real, plus I don’t think I’ve ever heard a line delivered as such as games with VO wasn’t as commonplace in 2001 as it is now. Usually the first actor’s line would get deliberately cut off and then the second actors line plays, so this legit cutoff made it very memorable.

Fun fact: The code for making Sonic's gauge deplete when using Gems is fully in the game and works perfectly....except the variable they're using for the gauge is named incorrectly. A spelling error messed up the entire system

I think the accepted canon is that "Ivo Robotnik" is Eggman's real name, while "Eggman" is just a nickname he adopted from Sonic
This will forever be the true canon
Sonic Adventure is the game that canonized the "Robotnik" name in Japan. I think the "Look Tails, a giant talking egg!" scene is similar to the English version. And in Sonic Adventure 2 in the cutscene where Eggman demonstrates Space Colony ARK firing a laser at the moon, the text "ROBOTNIK EMPIRE" can be seen scrolling in the background of his announcement on TV. And in the same game, Eggman's grandfather Gerald Robotnik is an important character in the backstory.
Sonic Frontiers apparently confirmed it. With Robotnik adding that he isn't gonna do that with "Baldy McNosehair" because he does have limits.
Robotnik Winter Zone was already a thing back then.

I always thought Sonic was saying:
"I'll use you...! Chaos Control!"
"You" in this case referring to the Fake Chaos Emerald he used to escape his space pod.
I was always able to hear Shadow's line entirely but I didn't know that Sonic's line was partially cut. The line still makes sense in English regardless.
To be honest I think "I use your, Chaos Control!" Sounds much better

1:06 the manual is actually accurate there, but due to the rushed production of the game, the gauge was never coded to deplete.
Modders actually recently found that the code for the gauge to deplete is in the game, it just doesn’t work due to a typo in the code.
So it was the manual, since it's supposed to describe the playable game and not developer intentions.
@@insaincaldo another comment basically showed that it's the same case as with the alien: colonial marines AI bug at launch, where a typo broke everything, but SEGA ended up not patching it as far as I know.

@@insaincaldo Oh, both 06 and Aliens CM are playable, just very buggy. There were a lot of actually unplayable games in video game history, some of them are even sold on Steam right now, so please don't mix up the two.

Also, with all the Sonic 1 mistakes you pointed out, there was a big one you never pointed it: Sonic's spring jump sprite is lacking the white straps on his shoes.
One little mistake I remember noticing was in Sonic the Fighters. Aside from the fact that there's suddenly eight emeralds instead of seven (the change was made because there are eight playable characters and the story is that each character is protecting one and you have to fight them all to get the emeralds), there's a part in the intro where it's showing off the Death Egg II and the text reads "the revenge of Dr Robotonic".
There are nine technically. The gem in chaos chest is an emerald and they all were made from pieces of the master emerald so 9.

It was the opposite and that makes it worse. It was a deliberate con. Most cutscenes are just false advertising for trailers. The beginings of levels were cut out of gameplay previews to hide their small scale. Etc.
I like to think that in Sonic Heroes "Eggman" says things like "Don't get too excited boys!" because it's not actually the real Eggman.

Most Sonic fans know what they want for him, the problem is that they are constantly at war with eachother for differing opinions. The real mistake was allowing the Sonic Fanbase to become this divided by constantly betraying the long term fans. Pontac & Graff never should have been hired to begin with as they knew nothing of the series & flanderized the characters for the entire 2010s decade making Sonic the joke of the gaming industry. Adventure Fans & fans of the 2000s games know the series needs to take itself seriously & actually feel like a Shonen series.
I don’t think the manual “mistakes” for Sonic ‘06 really count as such, they’re more so just elements that didn’t in into the final product due to how rushed the development was. I guess the real mistake there was just leaving them there lol

I was one of the winners of the Fan Art contest! I remember reading the congratulations email in my high school’s library back in 2008/2009.
Which Sonic fantart did you drew for the contest?
To be fair to the manual, Sonic 06 is an unfinished game. The released version isn't even the final build of 06, it's an earlier build, that they had to use, as the one they had was too buggy. So, the manual is most likely referencing things that were supposed to be in the game, but were cut too meet Sega's deadline.
The Demo for 06 uses the final build, that's why it's better than the actual game. xD

Weirdly enough, though the SEGA CD manual calls her Sally, the PC version correctly names her Amy. Since this is the version of the game that I played as a kid, I always knew her name, long before Sonic Adventure made her a mainstay.

also the actual mistake with the action gauge in Sonic '06 is in the game's LUA code, with the wrong name used for the action gauge, making the game try to update something that simply does not exist, leaving the actual action gauge untouched.

I like that Sonic '06's instruction manuel is cited as making the mistakes when really all of those things were indeed supposed to cause the meter to drain. That one's on the game itself for just forgetting to do that except with Silver.
Shocked this wasn’t an hour long due to the shit show the series has become.
I know what you mean, the 2010s was a decade of flanderization & betraying long term fans to please people who wanted to see the series in ruin. You can easily see the complete change by comparing Black Knight to Colors. Sega is known for making dumb decisions, some of which no sane company would ever make, 1 of which was hiring 2 lead writers who had no knowledge of the series they were being hired to write for. We were stuck with Pontac & Graff writing for an entire decade, along with that there were a couple of terrible choices for VAs made at the same time like Roger Craig Smith as Sonic.
The Just Sonic mentality that plagued the series following the aftermath of 06 was a mistake & never should have happened in the main series games. 3D Boost is fundamentally flawed in concept because it requires triple the effort to make stages for it as it would an Adventure Style stage of equal length & there's too much 2D because of how the Boost Formula only really works in 2D. Sega of Japan refuses to give Sonic games the resources they deserve because the series isn't popular there. If Sega of Japan really wanted to market the Sonic Series to Japan I could tell them to simply add female characters that Japan would enjoy & return the series to being Shonen.
Japan likes catgirls, so having an Adventure Style game that introduced Modern Honey as a playable character & gave her a sister named Candy would have pleased everyone while making the series more appealing to Japan. Classic Fans begged for old characters to return like Fang's Team, Mighty, Ray, & even Honey much like Team Chaotix did in Heroes. If the 2 redesigned Classic Catgirls Honey as a Gothic Lolita, & her sister being a Schoolgirl with Mirror Honey's colors were in an Adventure Style game & it at least teased Mighty the Armadillo's return the entire fanbase prior to Boost could have been happy. The problem is after Yuji Naka left Sonic Team didn't know what to do for the series anymore & were led astray.
In Sonic Adventure 2 Eggman blows up half the moon and I believe several later games show the moon somehow whole again.
Sonic X explains this by having Eggman fix the moon in Episode 39.
@@ZFang7 Still a plausible explanation that the Egg Moon scheme could have still roughly happened in the game canon immediately following Sonic Adventure 2. Also much better than Iizuka's explanation that you're just not seeing the side that got blown up.

There was also a glitch in Sonic 1 that happened before the game even starts. The text ‘press start button’ or something like that is supposed to appear under the title card, but due to some kind of loading error, it never does unless you input a code to unlock one of the secret screens.
