Your Assault has Combatives. Easy counter to berserkers. You also don't seem to notice that your Field Medic has an Arc Thrower. Your Reaper has Silent Killer. Sting was wasted. It wasn't really needed for that mission but it could be critical in another mission later.
Exactly! I watched Syken's video yesterday and then this one so it would be fresh in my memory and those 180 credits he spent on abilities really hit me hard! I'm not against taking them, but would definitely prefer plasma grenades and a mimic beacon first.
@@TapCat Honestly, the difference in play style and strategic planning between yourself and Syken is super interesting and entertaining. Being 10 supplies short for Plasma grenades is very Xcom
Dude I do love your videos and I loved the hard Resistance carry here (kidding, I think you also played pretty smart). If I may just point one detail I think you missed at the end of the mission: You looked at the mov distance and realized you couldn't flank the Viper. I also thought that. But then you used Run and Gun and you COULD. I think you got with this character an ability that gives more movement when you use Run and Gun, so if you're one or 2 squares short you'll get that extra movement when you press Run and Gun. CHekc it out: between 38:31 and 38:43 you can see the increase in movement (you would stop 2 tiles short of the Bersekr and after Run and Gun you could go up to right beside him). I think you didn't notice the increased movement, as you still ran to the bersekr instead of flanking the Viper as you could have done. I know it totally didn't matter on this mission, but maybe pay attention to this on the next missions. I think you get +3 movement tiles when you use Run and Gun and that can really make a difference.
It's been a while since I recorded this so I honestly don't know if I registered that change but decided to use another soldier to go after the viper or if I was just oblivious (a serious possibility!). I can say that I wasn't aware of any ability that specifically kicked in when using Run & Gun, your comment was literally the first time I remember seeing that little piece of info!
@@TapCat It's not a base game ability, pretty sure it's something this mod created. Like I said, you can clearly see the effect in this video and I do remember you taking it a few eps ago. Either way, I miself had completly forgotten it. I guess it's not very helpoful as, since you don't know which characters have it, you don't always if it will work. Still, I though you should know. Don't know if it will make a difference still in this playthrough but if you intend to keep using using this mod, maybe take a look.
I learned that when I watched his video. Until then, I only knew what I was able to figure out on my own. We did talk about a few things, but a LOT of these choices that we'd make weren't communicated throughout the campaign.
Great progress this episode :D! I am very happy we have Skirmishers onboard and couldn't hope for better resistance order since the enemies are only going to get tankier and tankier . Shame the girl who joined us is just a squaddie.
I was VERY happy about that resistance order and almost as disappointed by the skirmisher being a squaddie. Was really expecting a Lieutenant, but that's XCOM!
*While XCOM is still evacing the remaining Resistance Members* Resistance Member: "Civilians all accounted for sir" Wei: "Good work, and thanks for the assistance in the battle today." Kinda wish they we that useful all the time 😅 Also love the last minute Ray Cameo 😁 Its like a Stan Lee appearance in a Marvel movie
Don't think I've ever seen the resistance come thru like they did on this retaliation mission. Almost enough (almost, I say) to make one think that Xcom is getting soft. Then notice you being, in order, 10 supplies and one day short for significant advances and think to myself (as you were probably also thinking) "Yep, it's definitely Xcom." In any case, good vid
@@TapCat Is that due to some mod you're using? During your playthrough the Resistence consistently hit and did 4 damage, with some 6 point crits along the way.
@@sveinbjornt No, we didn't use any mods to make the game less challenging. The resistance just had RNG go their way at a level I don't think I've seen before.
You should try Crown Wars: The Black Prince, I tried the demo and it's really cool, it's really close to XCOM but it has a medieval setting with a lot of magic. I would love to see you play it :)
XCom2 WOTC is a massive casualization. Syken himself said Reapers are overpowered. There is NO SUSPENSE. This is NOT good content. Do a NO REAPER run. That’ll be more compelling
At least it isn't as ominous as operation "demon stank" from your first ever wotc playthrough. You don't want to encounter a stinky demon
That title is truly a classic and very difficult to top!

One of the guys has a stun gun, those work great on Berserkers.
The resistance was brutal, holy mangoes.
54:07 The penny drops and Tapcat realises where all the supplies went.😂

What a shock, the resistance actually displayed some competence.

The Resistance actually stood up to their name! I like the map mod
They were so huge in this mission!
Syken put everyone on clearing the shielded power coil so you guys can either get psionics early or the shadow chamber.

Hope it won't be Tap'Catastrophic! 🙂
Ohh i missed your playtrue, im gonna enjoy this, thank you man for playing Xcom2😍
Those resistance fighters did work tapcat! A potentially awkward start, well done on the flawless!
They sure did, I was seriously impressed with how many enemies they helped us take down.

I like the slow build-up toward the relationship... I'm pulling for those 2 kids!
Ray coming once the mission was over was truly classic.

Good to see Ray! And I'm really interested to see if your gamble pays off. It would be too easy to see you guys racing the doomclock...
