  • The gorgeous Stanhopea tigrina is in bloom. Multiple spikes opened up over the holidays - the first bloom opening up Xmas day, the third on New Years day. HUGE Absolutely spectacular, gorgeously fragrant flowers.
Also a few tips on Stanhopea orchid care. Enjoy!! And Happy New year!!

Lovely Stanhopea! From the color pattern in the flower it looks as it might be Stanhopea hernandezii instead of S. tigrina. but is hard to say.
Anyhow enjoy such a nice plant!

I live in. Brisbane & have a flowering size stanhopea nigroviolcea. It’s in a wire basket with thin layer of coconut fibre & bark. Bits constantly fall out but the orchid loves it. It hangs in a southeast corner of my shade house.

I think these are what we saw down in Hidalgo, Mx. They called them snake flower bc they looked like a snake. They said they only bloomed one month out of the year.

That orchid is just stunning! I have a small one hanging on my balcony. It’s in a wire basket with fibre. Actually I have two together…the one you just showed and a yellow one. I’m so looking forward to it flowering next year I hope 🤞🏻
All your orchids look wonderful. The green house has made such a difference to them.
Happy New Year! Looking forward to more wonderful videos from you in 2022 and an update on Maisie every now and then ❤️.

Happy New Year Dee and your family.
Your Stanhopea is just gorgeous. The delicate cream and the burgundy coloured markings are a lovely contrast.
I think you need a little work crew to help you re pot! LOL 😄 I have just bought some cattleya seedlings which I hope will do well in the Aussie heat. Thanks for your video. I really enjoy your cheery updates. 🥳

Thanks for sharing! And we share the same name. 😁 I hope you get to do your Stanhopea repots and keep us posted. I have one in a wire basket with very thin coco fiber lining. Potted in sphagnum and chunky bark mix since May and it has been doing well, growing 2 new growths since then. I copied MOG Dani and how she repotted hers. Would love to compare notes in the future. Wishing you a happy new year, congrats on your baby and well wishes from SoCal USA. -DeAnna

once we're over Covid and you're ready to separate yourself from the little one, you can drop her at a day care for a few hours and get to work on the orchids. Or just have your mom come over and manage her for a few hours. 😉

Little one starts daycare tomorrow, and I start work next week. Right in time for Covid chaos here in QLD 😭😭
