Learn how to make a cheap birdbath! This was a simple project and I think I will make another one out of a different style lamp. In the video when I was shopping, the basic birdbath I said was $49.99 was actually $99.99. I couldn't see the price tag because it was under the dirty water. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for watching.
I love your birdbath. I bought a tall lamp that looks like a column from Roman or Grecian days. It's very heavy and I want to make a birdbath. I'm still looking for a suitable 'bath' vessel. Ideally I'd like to be able to remove the bath part for cleaning. Still brainstorming for how to do that. I love all the ideas I see here.
@@shirleyens7707 unfortunately, I broke this bird bath with my hoe. I accidentally hit it when I was weeding the garden and I broke it beyond repair. I have a lot of projects and not enough time to get them all completed. Let me know if you figure out a way to be able to remove the bath part for cleaning.
I think your birdbath looks fantastic! I had never seen one made with a lamp before. That is a great idea and I see tall lamps all the time at thrift stores. Thanks for sharing!
The lamp is a great idea. I'm going to try it. I may add cement or small gravel inside the lamp to make it heavier so it doesn't get knocked over. 😉 thanks for sharing 👍

Great idea but I would have added sand or concrete to the base and also used a deeper dish. The birds around my place like a dish about 2" deep. I put a rock in it so the butterflies can land on it and get a drink.

Be careful about painting the birdbath. Paint can be toxic to the birds. Be sure to use safe materials
@@shirleyens7707 the plate was only painted on the bottom.
@Cookin' with Bobbi Jo I'm aware, but someone commented about painting with "cenent" paint or Krylon, so I thought I should caution people. Not everyone is aware of paint toxicity to birds.
I like it. Good idea
Thank you.
Great idea but I would have added sand or concrete to the base and also used a deeper dish. The birds around my place like a dish about 2" deep. I put a rock in it so the butterflies can land on it and get a drink.
I did add a deeper dish and they enjoyed it more and also concrete in base. I've made a couple of more since this video. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.

A nice idea.
Thank you and thanks for stopping by and commenting.
very nice base!!!
Thank you.
Back here showing support!
Thank you.
I learned that some glue has a smell and it makes the water nasty and they will not go anywhere near your birdbath until the smell goes away please keep that in mind when putting your DIY protests have fun
Since the glue was on the bottom it didn't seem to bother them. Unfortunately this bird bath broke. I accidentally hit it with my hoe when I was weeding my garden. I just found a couple of more lamps and I'm going to make some new ones. If I ever find the time.
I have a neighbor that has some kind of problem with me and they keep breaking my bird baths and I love them my landlord does not say anything to them so they keep doing this so I finally got smarter than them I hope bricks and concrete was my answer to solve this problem and my little birds are back and so happy and love watching them take their baths and my kitty loves to watch them through the window
I'm sorry you have to deal with neighbors like that. I'm glad your birds are back.
One of my concrete birdbath broke you give me an idea on being able to fix it. I'm going to continue to follow your journey. I also have two dogs
Thank you. I'm going to be do a few more projects for my bird garden.
Thank You so much I knew if I kept watching someone would help me make a birdbath with a economical way to make one..A lamp a dish some glue love it. Great for our yard and all the birds to cool off in getting very hot in CT. Thanks j
The birds like the deeper dishes better than this shallow one. Thanks for stopping by.
❤️ LOVE
Thank you.
Great idea, I personally would have left the base the way it was; and not painted it silver-but that's just a preference thing. thank you
Thanks for watching!
You could use a block cement square from store good base for bottom.
Beautiful!
I’m in the same mindset as you to use a recycled lamp. However I haven’t been able to find a lamp that would serve the purpose.
I got lucky finding that lamp on my first visit to Goodwill. It was nice and heavy and the birds love the bath. Keep searching. You'll find what you're looking for eventually.
You can also mixup 'Quikrete' to fill a lightweight base. Quick & easy.
We love our strong men.
Yes we do.
Outstanding! Just what I wanted to know. I'm so jealous of your garden! Awesome, beautiful video. Subscriber from NW FL. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom.
Aww thank you for the kind words. I did replace the plate on top with a deeper one and the birds enjoy it more. I keep meaning to do an update video but life is busy this time of year. NW Florida is beautiful. I lived in South East FL for a few years. Prefer the gulf more though. Thanks for subscribing.
I want a.swuare one with really😊 shallow sloping sides..
❤❤❤
❤️😊
Thank you I am thinking I can do this!😅
You're welcome. Thanks for stopping by.
If you're gonna put that outside I would really suggest an appoxy over a glue personal opinion
Thanks for the tip.
Yeah, thanks Steve. Wanna come on over to my house and use your "strong man" abilities to move a three piece stone bench for me? I have a hand truck.
I wonder if it would work to turn the lamp upside down instead of try to cut to inside piping. then the piping can jut fit into the ground? that way no additional pieces are necessary.
It would be top heavy because the base is heavier than the top.
And you can strip and use the lamp shade as a plant stand
Good idea! Thanks for sharing.
Was that last bird a Mourning Dove?
Yes, it is. Thanks for watching.
@@BobbiJo I thought that's what it looked like.
My mother always liked Mourning Doves, cause they mate for life! ❤️❤️❤️
You could take an old car tire and fill it with concrete, and let it dry. Take it out and go from there with your imagination 😊
I used clay pots and took a oil pan and made one.
There are so many ways to make them. I have a couple of smaller ones made from clay pots and just tray for the basin. Thanks for watching.
