I agree with everyone else, this is very cool! I think most of the "diy birdbaths" are quite boring and they look the same. Your design is modern yet classic, sleek and simple. I love it.
love the simple classic look ! definitely will try the same. i see from other bird bath creators that one should have the final product submerged in water for at least a week to allow the toxic elements of cement to leach out before using it for animals...
A large oak tree limb fell from a tree in my backyard and destroyed my 25 year old concrete bird bath. That turned out great my brother! I like some air bubbles. Gives it character. I want to give this a go. Thanks for the video. Chickens and all!
Good job ! Ive' been doing this for years, I use cheap cooking oil for the 'release' Like to keep on a level surface and i found that putting a couple of house bricks in the insert helps to keep the parts 'stable.
I made this after watching the video. I found wash basins and a pail at Walmart that worked perfectly. I sealed it with concrete sealer made by the gorilla glue people. I just counted five robins using the bath within one hour. We also have doves and squirrels drinking the water too. Thank you so much for making this video!!!!!
I love your idea for this birdbath. It’s perfect for water, or like you said even birdseed. This is my weekend project this coming weekend. Thank you so much for this brilliant idea!
This is absolutely perfect! I love how you explained everything and it doesn't seem so intimidating. Anyone can do it. My Dad taught me to tap the sides to release air bubbles. Air bubbles don't bother me a bit. Just proves I made it myself. Thank you so much!! Big fan from Washington State, USA 🇺🇸
That came out absolutely beautiful! It is perfect! I can't wait to try it. I'll be so pleased if mine comes out half as well. Thank you so much for the video.
hahaha, love the cute chicken. I ll definitely make one for my birdies in the garden, the bought ones are so expensive and my dried-mealworm-spoilt blackbirds are so territorial that i need SEVERAL bird baths in my garden so each male has his own....
Boy, the finishing really made a difference. Love this. I’m going to try to make this shallow one with a spray fountain for humming birds. Thank you! Perfect!
hey mate thank u so much for WD40 idea. i try to make something like this with pot and i was worry how to prevent it from sticking plastic to cement .. thanks
Great job mate. Best way to remove air bubbles is to use an orbital sander with no sand paper , simply put the vibrating orbital sanded on the sides of the mould 👍
This is a great idea! These are simple and look really nice and you can make them affordably. Thank you so much for sharing this. I live in Idaho and I think concrete is the way to go. I'll be making this.
Very cool technique. I've had good luck with vegetable oil for a mold release. I'm going to The Dollar store tomorrow and get some of those trays. Thanks for sharing the process.
Thank you for an easy to follow video, it gave me some ideas. I'm not sure about using any types of lubricants for the inside as birds and other wild life will be drinking water from it but... I think I'll put a glass tray to make the inside "bath" part and just leave it in the concrete for the finished product instead of taking it out. Hopefully that'll work as the inside of the bird bath. Thanks again! :)
Really liked these bird baths. I was only talking to my father in law at the weekend saying we wanted to get a decent bird bath. Going to make one for me and one for him in the next few weeks. I really like the finished project. Thanks for sharing.
Awe awe love those chickens. I was a farm girl long time ago and raised some chickens. Boy those brown eggs are the best as they have rooster love in it.
This is wonderful! Could you use ready mix cement? Also, would there be a way to make the bottom a little rougher? It seems like my birds don’t like a slippery bottom. I have a cement bird bath with ridges and it is their favorite.
Hi, yes you can use ready mix concrete I have used it myself with ok results. If you take the top tray out before it’s fully set you can rough up the concrete with a scraper I’ve also done this. Hope that helps and thank you so much for watching and commenting.
I have a pedestal with a hold in it. Do you think that if I fill part of the opening that goes the full length of the pedestal, I could make a. Bird bath using two different sized plastic saucers you put under planters, cut a hole in the large one and let some of the concrete flow into the hole, then fill the top saucer with more concrete and insert a smaller saucer inside the larger saucer and push it down to create the de th of basin I want, wait till it dries and remove the top saucer sprayed with WD40 and then cut away the bottom saucer?
Thanks Dave, I recommend you use vegetable oil and not WD40 as so many people have pointed out to me 😂. I’ve also made some bonsai pots . and a circular bird bath that I’ll do a video on soon. All the best
brilliant, how many kg bag did you use ? and iv'e been thinking of a making an attachment to fasten the top to the base .. maybe metal rod . not sure yet ... great video
Sounds like a good idea, I’ve found them to be pretty stable due to the weight but some sort of recess or rod should work great. I think it was about 1/3 of a 20kg bag of cement and about twice that of sand.
I agree with everyone else, this is very cool! I think most of the "diy birdbaths" are quite boring and they look the same. Your design is modern yet classic, sleek and simple. I love it.
Thank you! 😊
Excellent! Love the design, the simplicity, the execution, and your low-key manner. Well done.
Perfect! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I wanna try making one to use as a ground feeder too. Thx!! The video is excellent!
That’s great, I’m sure they’ll turn out fantastic.
Thank you for watching and commenting.

Love it. Fits in perfect with my zen themed yard
Thank you! That’s exactly what I was looking for. You’re a great teacher. Stay safe, the world needs you!
Thank you, that’s great to hear.

Thanks for such a great tutorial. The thirsty feathered friends was an unexpected bonus, cute.
Thanks 😊
Couldn't find a birdbath in the size I wanted, so this will be perfect and a whole lot cheaper. Thank you for this excellent tutorial!
Thank you 😊
Thanks so much for this! My fiance and I followed step by step and it came out wonderful. I sculpt so I even added some designs to the concrete!
Thank you 😊 that’s great to hear 🌱🌱😊🌱🌱
If you want to age it more quickly. Paint it with a coating of yogurt, and let nature and the weather take its course.
I love your idea for this birdbath. It’s perfect for water, or like you said even birdseed. This is my weekend project this coming weekend. Thank you so much for this brilliant idea!

Thanks mate, yeah tapping does help and I don’t mind a few air bubbles either, adds character. Thanks for watching 😊
That came out absolutely beautiful! It is perfect! I can't wait to try it. I'll be so pleased if mine comes out half as well. Thank you so much for the video.
Thank you, good luck with yours, I hope it turns out great.

LOOKS FANTASTIC. Also love the rooster crowing in the background.
Thank you 😊

I’m near Newtown, about 1.5hrs from you.
good job, you can also get coloured powder dyes to add to the mix or lime powder to make it white
Thanks, I’ll have to check that out. 🌱🌱🙂🌱🌱
Corvids are attracted to darker colors
Really nice job!

Thank you, I now use vegetable oil as a mould release, works much better and not harmful.
Your idea sounds good, good luck.

Great video!. Gave me lots of ideas and confidence. I guess the amount of water depends on exact type os sand etc? Thnx a lot.
Thank you, Yes I’m sure it varies, I just mix it in slowly until I get the desired consistency.
Glad you found it helpful
Thank for commenting
