I love your fountains and I cannot wait to build a couple for my garden. I do have a suggestion for you... For the bird bath you made from concrete, place a bunch of river rocks, mixed with those glass pebbles you can buy at those Dollar Trees and 99-cent stores that come in a variety of really pretty colors. Place enough of the mixture of small river rocks and glass pebbles so that the water is still reachable, but there is plenty of dry surface for the butterflies, bees, and other small beneficial creatures to drink, bathe, but not drown. Plant some Butterfly Bushes and a variety of blue and purple flowers nearby to attract some Monarch butterflies and honey bees. You'll love watching your garden come alive. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with the rest of us and giving us ideas on these beautiful bird baths we can build for our own gardens. May God always Bless you with good health and prosperity in all you do.
I have a bee and butterfly bath. I also have milkweed planted for the butterflies. I've been expanding my garden each year. Thanks for stopping by.
GREAT IDEAS, I WOULDN,T HAVE THOUGHT A LAMP WOULD HAVE MADE A BEAUTIFUL BASE. THANKS FOR SHOWING US HOW TO DO THIS.
You're welcome. Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks to Steve for being such a great helper. Nice person.
Thanks. I thinks he's pretty great.
To help keep fountain centered you can attach straws to the stabilizers to make them longer
Thanks for that tip!
What a clever way to upcycle the lamp into something beautiful and functional. Loved seeing the birds enjoying their new bath. Your garden is lovely! Cheers from FL😺
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for stopping by from FL. I lived in FL many many years ago.
Such a creative way to recycle things. I bought the same solar pump and I didn’t put any of the nozzles on so it created a low water spout so you don’t lose water with the taller spouts. Hummingbirds like the shorter spout.
Yes, that's what I ended up doing with it. The birds and hummingbirds seem to like the low water spout better. Thanks for stopping by.
The turquoise and terracotta looking basin are perfect together! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you.
Wonderful idea for bird bath. I also got idea from cinder block planting
I love my cinder block garden. There are so many things to do with them. Thanks for stopping by.
Awesome idea and looks absolutely gorgeous. Mr Robin was a happy boy.
Thank you! 😊
Love seeing the Robin bathing...puts a smile on my face 😊 Enjoyed the tutorial and your lovely garden too. 🌼🐦🐇🐝🌺A happy place !!
Thanks for stopping by. The garden is my happy place.
Your garden is very pretty and I love your lamp Reno into a bird bath. WTG!
Thank you and thanks for stopping by.
Your garden is STUNNING!!! love your bird bath, the teal color is awesome ❤❤❤😊
@@rosemaryortega9879 thank you. I actually repainted it a red color. I left it out when it got below freezing in the winter and the paint started peeling. So the only color I had in my garage was red. I repainted it and sealed it this time so hopefully it will not peel off. Thanks for stopping by.
I have used the solar fountain before. They work good. How ever have to watch them closely because the spray nozzles can cause the water to spray out and if it’s windy water will spray out. Robin is having a great time 😂😂
Yes, I have an issue on breezy days.
What a fabulous idea! I can't wait to make one. I'm heading to a dear gardening friend's house today and can't wait to share this project!!😊
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I hope your project turns out great.
This would be a great idea for one of my Mom's old lamps. She passed away 7 years ago, but I couldn't part with some things.
Yes, it is a great way to repurpose old lamps. I'm sorry for your loss. I understand not being able to part with some things. You can also use a shallow plate or bowl and make a bird feeder. I made my sister a lamp into a feeder and the birds love it.
I loved the robin. I love to watch birds taking a bath. They're just sooo cute!
I do too. Thank you for stopping by.
Enjoyed every second.
Thank you
I didn’t know impatients would come back every year, I love them
They don't here. I save seeds and replant in the spring. In warmer climates they do come back yearly.
Depends on what gardening zone you live in...pnw they all freeze......😮
You will have much better luck with your birdbath if you lower your water spray to about 6 inches max or even make it more of a bubbler. The wind won't be blowing the water around, and the birds will be able to actually bathe in it, especially if it's low level. I would also suggest adding platforms such as rocks or even repurposed items items to add landing and bathing stations. You have a great start and have spent an amazing amount of money, certainly more than I ever have. I live in San Diego and have other critters too besides birds but only rabbits, skunks, raccoons, and possums. We have coyotes but not in my yard..
I love watching Robbie and Gary on UA-cam in the Los Angeles hills. She is the Queen of the hummingbirds, with literally thousands enjoying her feeders and fountain, and she is an endless inspiration...but be careful 😂 because it becomes addictive . She uses some of the strangest things for fountains, soda bottles, kurig coffee pods and just about anything from the thrift store. She grows an amazing organic veggie garden .in plastic totes from the Dollar Store and has a cute little dog and emus. Us crazy Caliornians right😊
You may not want to go any further than what you have, but I am now 80 and always looking for fun way to enhance my small space in the senior mobile home park where I live. My cats .weare harnesses and leashes, we go outside where the hummingbirds love to tease them and just enjoy what nature we can. You have so much more, a real house & yard ❤
Have fun, you have a great start so cut loose and really GO FOR😂 GREATNESS...Dana, a crazy SoCal Gardener
@@danawirthrittenhouse6414 thanks for stopping by. I did make it a bubbler. The birds enjoy it more. I also have a hummingbird bath and butterfly/bee bath. I've added a lot over the last year, since making this video. My bird population has grown. We just had a brood of bluebird chicks fledge from the bluebird nest box. That was a lot of fun to watch too.
Turned out cute, also like that it’s budget friendly!!!
The birds are enjoying it. Thanks for stopping by.
LOL I am doing a fresh up on my carport patio and I used the Seaside on my table chairs and glider and another tiny accent table. LOVE that color and now I want to see your kitchen!
I have an old 1960 kitchen that I painted the cabinets white and the cabinet hardware and backsplash behind stove seaside. Nothing fancy but I love the color! Thanks for stopping by.
@@BobbiJo I bet it is pretty. I did mosaic on both bathroom cabinets and counter tops. Then painted the doors in a turquoise. A little darker than the seaside. Love it. It feels like a happy color.
Beautiful birdbath; such a nice color. Beautiful garden.
Thank you for the kind comment and for stopping by.
If you just use the straight nozzle instead of one of the attachments the wind won't blow the water out and empty it. Also have to periodically clean off the pump as it will clog with debris. I actually prefer a solor fountain that runs off a panel attached to a long cord, also on amazon. That way you can put it wherever the sun is and it stores up power and can run when it's dark
@@lisasmith1684 yes. I removed the nozzles and just let the water bubble over. I also have the solar panel one now that I like too. Thanks for stopping by.
That bird baths longer than my son lol
Thank you for showing these lifes moments, so great!
That Robin Made My Day 2 😊
😀
That’s so cool! I want to try one in my back yard this year. I’m wanting to attract more birds. The robins are loving it!!!
You should. The birds will love it. Thanks for watching.
Find the center of the circle with a paper pattern you fold to find center the mark on your wood. The extra time is worth it.
Thanks and thanks for stopping by.
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and for letting us know how much they cost. Very helpful in know what to budget for and where to go!
Thank you. I'm glad it was helpful. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
If you come a crossed some older glue like you said you had in this video try putting the glue into some hot water if it's not to old or dried out to much it should help soften it back to normal .
Thanks for the tip. I did not throw out the dried glue because I was going to look up a way to save it but I never got around to it. I will try this.
I find what does fountains they have to be in direct sunlight all the time for them to work properly and you got to put those guides around them so they won't move around and empty the water out of your fountain
I don't have much direct sunlight in my yard because of the trees. But I'm able to use the solar fountains a few hours a day. Thanks for stopping by.
This is great. I have an old broken birdbath and now I see I can make a new top for it. That fountain was a nice addition. My birds will be happy! Thank you.
You're welcome. Yes, there are many ways to repair old birdbaths with simple parts. I had an old plastic birdbath that was broken. I wasn't able to repair the base but I was able to use the top of it on a lamp base. Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Chastity, Love how the birdbath turned out! great flower garden tour! I love Lillies! TFS! Blessings to you! ✝🕊🙏🏼💖
Thanks Cynthia. Blessings to you too!
Absolutely beautiful! Love the idea of the lampstand and your finished solar fountain. Such a colorful garden. You've gotten my creative juices flowing. The caught moment of the Robin taking advantage of your shower/bathing fountain made me laugh. He looked like he really enjoyed it. Gods creatures are so precious and wonderful to watch. Thank you for sharing. I'm so thankful for diy videos like this. Have a blessed day.
Thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I love watching God's wonderful creatures.
@@BobbiJo could you plz till me what kind glue you use for the birdbath. Thank you so much yr bird bath so lovely
I really enjoyed watching the birds taking baths. Thank you for sharing the DIY project. I’m going to give it a try. Also subscribed to your channel. ❤
Thanks for stopping by and subscribing.
Very cool!! I made one last year from a lamp I found in FL and a tray I found at TJMaxx, used E600 to glue them together
That is awesome!
Genius! I LOVE it and I am so happy I came across this video! Thanks for the inspiration! ❤😊

The bird bath and flower garden is beautiful ! Love it all 💕🐦🌺Looking forward to more videos😍

That robin was adorable
Thanks for stopping by.
Nice job. Recommend add ring some rocks. . Small birds can drown in just a little bit of water
Thanks for stopping by.
I love this idea! I’ve been looking for a unique solar fountain idea, but for hummingbirds. What I’m going to do to attract them is use a fountain nozzle that’ll just gurgles water out. This will also solve a lot of the loss of water due to wind sweeping the spray away. Thanks for the video!
Yes, I have another video where I show the different nozzles and which works best for the shallow basins. I took the fountains out for winter and put a rock in the bath. This bath attracts a lot of finches and bluebirds. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
@@BobbiJo nice! Autocorrect goofed up my previous comment, it’s now edited. I am actually educated 😂. We live in the desert southwest. Water of any sort attracts so many birds. But it makes it more interesting when the water circulates and it prevents mosquito larvae from being able to live in it. Of course, when you refill the water daily it isn’t a problem anyway.
I loved watching the birds bathing! I need to try to make this! Thank you. Love Chattanooga
Thank you. I would go with a little deeper plate if you use a solar fountain.
Lol loved the entertainment great bird bath. Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome. Thank you for stopping by.
I love your laid back down to earth personality personality and so creative. thank you for being price conscious and for sharing. And God Bless You
Thank you. God bless you, too!
Thanks for the info on the bird baths and the tour. It was amazing

Nice bird bath. Like the color. Glad birds used it. I miss seeing Robins. It is rare they fly through here.
Thank you. We have more Robins than any other bird here.
That robin is in love with the fountain!
Yes, thanks for stopping by.
That is so cool, the robin is really enjoying himself!!! You defiantly need a couple more to go in the other ones too…..That is the best fountain, you have encouraged me to get another birdbath to put a fountain in, we have a dripper in ours now, but defiantly need the fountain!
I have a couple more now. I don't have one in the concrete birdbath because the birds like having a group bath in it. I also have a hummingbird feeder with a bath/fountain on top that I need to get a video of. The hummingbirds love it and also the smaller birds. Thanks for stopping by. I love hearing from fellow bird lovers.
This has inspired me so much ! Your garden is beautiful 😍
Thanks so much! 😊
I love the bird bath. Will make us one. Thank you
Thanks for stopping by. I hope it turns out great.
Birdbath turned out beautiful, your garden looks very pretty too!
Thank you so much!
Awesome beautiful flowers!!
Thank you. I need to do a garden update this week since the black eyes Susan's are blooming now.
Great idea! Love the color and love the robin! Yes, birds are drawn to the trickling water sounds! The straws are basically bumpers so the fountain doesn't go to the sides and spill out even more water! I bought the glass solar fountain on amz this year. Try that one too! It has a different attachment that keeps the water lower. I agree that the planter tray is probably too shallow. That's what I've been using in my broken bird bath. Thanks for the cool DIY's !
They had some beautiful glass bird bath basins at Hobby Lobby for 50% off and I started to get one but I talked myself out of it because it was still more than I normally spend. I will look for the glass solar fountain. I'm about to make my Mom a birdbath and she wants a fountain.
FYI, as a woodworker, if you have a small bit of glue left that's too dry but still without chunks, you can add a bit of water (because Titebond is water-based), mix or shake well, and use it only once or twice after. It gets weird after a week. I know.
Hint: to remove the squeeze out residue even after scraping, you can use white vinegar. Just wet a shop rag with white vinegar and rub on the area that still has residue and won't take stain or finish. You'll be able to see what you can't with the naked eye on dry wood once you soak it in white vinegar. It will be way lighter in color. Just be patient and wipe the residue out with a rag and white vinegar. If it's blobs, then let it soak, scrape, and then wipe.
The vinegar will pull all of the residue out of the grain without raising it in most cases (depending on the wood). With enough patience, you'll have joints or blobs or "oops" fingerprints" that will be entirely extracted from the wood and won't show up on finish.
The trick is to check before finishing. After, you'll be sad, and there won't be anything you can do but sand the finish, remove the residue with vinegar, and re-finish.
Thanks for the tip.
Nice garden…
Thank you.
I loved this! Very creative and you have a truly beautiful garden. Have a great week! 🤗💕🐦
Thank you! You too!
I love that ❤I need to make one ! I found a solar powered fountain on Temu for $7 ! That Robin is very happy 😃
I keep seeing Temu ads but haven't tried it yet. Thanks for telling me that and for stopping by.
Just beautiful,I got me a solar pump ,love it made mine with two flower pots
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
The bee bath needs 2 be filled with several smaller rocks to walk on and not fall in and drown ❤😊

HIXSON!! Tennessee?🤔 If so, I know exactly where that Goodwill is. That's funny because this is the first time I have seen a post from someone in the same area. I'll have to check it out. Birdbath is beautiful.
Yes, Tennessee. I live across the dam from Hixson. We usually go there to shop. Hamilton Place area has too much traffic although Hixson traffic is getting worse. Goodwill and that other big thrift store down the road from Red Lobster in Hixson are my favorites. Thanks for stopping by.
Such a beautiful serene garden. Thank you for sharing

I love that birdbath, especially the lamp part and the color. I’m inspired!
I'm glad it could inspire. Thanks so much for stopping by.
I bought one of those solar fountains a few yrs. ago. Tried the different sprayers, same problem. I ended up using the little bubbly one. The others went too high and would spray over the bowl. I ran outta water Too fast and what a noise they make when they do. Love your bird bath !
Yea the bubbly ones works better. Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks for your video nice yard

Perfect. I recently acquired a stone-like lamp with similar design to create a birdbath. Looking forward to making this. Thanks
Sounds great! The birds will enjoy it. Thanks for stopping by.
Cool project
Thank you.
Drill the small holes bigger so the water doesn't spray out. It works great for me. And you can put rocks on the inside too.
Thanks for the tips.
Thank you for sharin . Terrific, economical and a great idea. KISS: KEEP IT SIMPLE, SMART! 😀😶😶😶😶
Thanks for stopping by.
I love it, and the color is gorgeous! ❤😊
Thank you.
You can use the fountain without a cap or make the cap holes slightly larger. These fixes reduce the height of the spray. Another option is to get a solar panel that is separate from the pump. This allows you to place the fountain in an area with shade while the panel is exposed to the sun.
Yes, there are several options. It came with different caps. The birds seem like the one that bubbles instead of sprays the best.
That has also been my experience.
@@leannemiller9514 thanks for the info and for stopping by!
Nice idea. I have two lamps I'm not fond of so I'm going to make a bird bath too. Thanks for Sharing.
You’re welcome 😊 thanks for watching.
Success - looks cool and the birds love it. You can always anchor the solar fountain with some stones if you don't want it to move/float. I liked your other birdbath lamp project even better because it has more height and I liked the shape a bit more - but this one looks cool too. I see a trip to Goodwill et al in my future:). I really liked the idea of boring a hole in a wood piece like you did - THANKS!:)
I liked the other one better because the lamp base looked more like a decorative birdbath. The birds are enjoying all of them. The sparrows and finches seem to enjoy the fountain the most. The robins like them all. The bigger birds like birdbath #2 because it is the deepest. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. I love hearing from my viewers.
That is so pretty. Great job.
Thank you.
Great idea!!! And Robins are fearless with birdbaths. Can you adjust the water level to not shoot up so high? It's usually very windy where I live and I've had fountains that shoot up like that--the wind blew the water out and the motor burned out by the time I got home. I'm in texas... between the wind and the heat, the water was all gone by the time I got home.
@@JulieMoran1832 yes. I took the nozzle off and just let the water bubble over. The water stays in that way. The hummingbirds like it too.
Just want to try!!!❤
Thanks for watching.
Lovely project!!! The birds love it❤❤❤
Thank you.
Thank you so much for the review on this solar water fountain and the link on Amazon! I have looked at many but wasn't sure if the little inexpensive solar ones would work. You showed this end of May 2023 and now it's mid July 2023, is it still working as well as it was in this video? I been wanting to make a birdbath fountain and this video was just the ticket to spur me along! I just found your channel today so I haven't looked at other videos yet. I'm in NW Florida so you know it's hot hot hot here and super humid. I hate to have to put the mosquito dunks in my water sources even though the dunk is safe for all wildlife except insects that breed in the water like mosquitoes but I still don't like having to use the dunk and if I have a fountain and the water is moving then they don't like to lay their eggs on moving water. I'm not sure how a solar would work for that though since it don't work at night unless it continues with yard lighting because I have loads of that. I live in a very rural area but I am totally fenced in, I only have about an acre of land.
It still works great. It needs direct sunlight for the best water flow. I have a very shady yard so mine only gets direct sunlight about 6 hrs a day. I'm not sure if it works under other light sources. I may put it under my lamp out front tonight and see if it works. I will let you know. I understand the humidity and heat. I grew up in southeast Georgia and the mosquitos were horrible.
@@BobbiJo thank you!
@@Maggie-Gardener-Maker it needs sunlight.
I had one of these solar pumps. The deer drank the water from my bird bath each night, emptying it. The solar pump ran on empty and wore out.
Mine still works but I have to clean it weekly. I don't get a lot of sun in my backyard this time of year because of all the tree cover. So I don't have it out there right now. At my previous house, we had a lot of deer. It was difficult keeping them out of the garden. Thanks for stopping by.
Nicely done!
Thanks for your help.
I love it I have the same pump, I put the rod only on mine and the water just rolls off the top no wind issues, and bird love it even hummingbirds
I've done that with mine as well. I saw a hummingbird enjoying it yesterday 😊 Thanks for stopping by.
