This is not a problem with the person who purchased the machine. It is an out of balance spin cycle recognition design problem.
interesting.
ONE queen fitted bedsheet, just one, and I have been trying to spin it for over an hour. I have opened it no less than SIX times to change how its in the washer, and it STILL gives me a rebranding message. This is pure BS
I have a GE front loader that was purchased in 07 or 08 for our lake cottage. It is used on weekends primarily in the summer. Since the beginning we have constantly checked the level and the filter to try and address the periodic banging and usually end up washing very small loads. We have had appliance repair out twice with no success. My wife simply refuses to use the washer anymore & so laundry is hauled back home & washed there. We have always purchased GE but this experience has changed my mind.
Scott Rieger We regret your experience. If there is something we can do to help, please send your details to our email address, eResponse@ge.com. We will be happy to look into this for you.
Same here. I used to reach out, and they give you obvious checks, overloaded load, too much, etc. As we speak I have ONE blanket in there and I have readjusted it 6 times, and it still wobbles and wont spin. NEVER again for GE ! Terrible since day one and a total waste of hard earned money.
My basket is pretty springy - how do I know if I need to replace the shock absorbers?
Hi, Alyssa. We regret your experience. Please take a look at a couple more solutions which may help to resolve your issue:
~Ensure the drain hose is not kinked or crimped in any way.
~Ensure the drain hose is properly connected to the standpipe or sink. Details can be found in the installation instructions.
~Ensure the drain in the household plumbing is not clogged. Household plumbing issues will require a plumber.
~Ensure the drain hose is installed correctly utilizing the anti-siphon clip that was included with the washer. If the drain hose is pushed too far down into the stand pipe, or if it is taped to the stand pipe, this could cause the drain hose to siphon water out of the washer and cause improper operation.
We hope this helps! If further assistance is needed, please reach out to us on our “contact us” page on our GE Appliances website. Thanks!
How do you redistribute the clothes in those front washers like it is suggested in this useless video presentation? They seem to fail grasping the concept of gravity.
I always thought that the smooth spinning was controlled by some counter weights that reposition themselves around the tub at different intervals, with sensors that ...sense...the centrifuge force ,and compensate by moving those weights around in a timely manner. I guess I will hold on to my 25 Year old top loading Maytag....that was given to me 15 years ago...and deal with unbalanced spinning loads the old fashioned way
Well excuse me, washing machine! What a delicate genius! ;) Seriously tho; mine spins slowly, trying to rebalance itself FOREVER. No matter WHAT goes in. :/
I have a GE front load washer. It spins too fast, and is loud but there's no banging noises. The last load I washed there was a burnt rubber smell with smoke when I opened the door. This happened after I cleaned out the filter.
Shawna, based on what you've described I'd recommend not using the washer until speaking with a service technician at 1-800-432-2737.
my system check lasts 4 to 7 minutes, I literally have to stand there and hold the door closed during this time. I was told it is a fucking safety feature, if this is true there must be some way to disable this "safety" feature. it says the system check should take 45 seconds, nobody in their right minds stands at their washer for 7 minutes to make sure a machine they paid upwards of $800 for works properly. I've watched all the videos, I've read the manual frontwards and backwards, I've Googled it and I've called support and came up with NOTHING, no help nothing anyone can do. it's absurd. we will NEVER EVER purchase GE products again and will tell as many people as possible to do the same.
I recently purchased a front load (GE) and havent been able to use it. It spins regular without clothes, but as soon as you put in any clothes it starts shaking so bad that I have to stop it every time.... GE has giving me a headache... idk what to do now
There are large screws on the back of the machine that hold the basket in place, to prevent damage during transport. Instructions about how to remove these screws are in the manual but I'm pretty sure the screws are still in on your machine...

I will never NEVER buy another GE washer. EVER! This rebalancing issue is a deal breaker!
I also have a GE front loader -purchased in 08, it bangs on the sides when washing towels. In other words, I can't just wash towels together I have to mix 1 or 2 with other laundry. One time I didn't pause it in time and the springs broke that hold the drum up. I would not recommend this washer.
Hello CALLA2024, We are sorry to hear that you are having this issue with your washer. Please reach out to us with your model & serial number and details to eResponse@ge.com. Thanks!
my WCHG4800k2WW washer comes with a new condo. it's 3 weeks old. it too also is out of balance. small, medium, big load, doesn't matter.
Service guy came and run it on EMPTY basket said it is okay. said no repair needed. so does GE's washing machine only work when the basket is empty??
Dominic Lee We appreciate that you are reaching out to us. If you will send your details to our email address, eResponse@ge.com, we'll be happy to take a look at your issue. Thanks!

I have a 20 year old Brtka and it shakes like a earthquake
I will never ever buy a GE product! My washer is 2 and a half years old and the washes are taking 2.5-3 hours always getting stuck in spin cycle. Repairman said I need to have the drum replaced, which is an $800 job! I had my top loader for 14 years without an issue. I called GE and after getting transferred 6 times and put on hold for over 30 minutes, I was told I could get a $100 discount on the part! Sounds like there should be a class actin lawsuit if everyone is having the same problem.
am replacing my ge for a lg 5.2 cf. my wife was tired of very long washes and sometimes not finished washes. I"ll never buy a ge product again.
Yose Ddjess, We are sorry to hear that you weren't happy with your washer. This is certainly not what we would expect to hear. Please contact us at eResponse@ge.com for assistance.
my washer doesn't make it to the spin cycle, mine will pause after 5 minutes and never restart on its own, i have to press start again to get it going, but after restarting it, it always finishe
Is the load size too small? If so, the washer may not spin. Add one or two similar items to help balance out the load. Also if the dispenser drawer isn't fully closed the washer will not spin. Let us know if neither of those solutions work.
I have a GE WCVH4800K2WW and the spin cycle takes forever. It took 2.5 hours to finish one laundry cycle because the washer was out of balance... The only way to make it spin properly was to separate into very small loads (Only 5 items at the time, t-shirts in this case. I have this washer for a week now and have not been able to make a proper spin cycle yet (tried 5 times).
It does not make sense to restart the spin cycle over and over. This machie is support to be energy star. However by restarting the spin cycle over and over or by adding additional clean items into the washer just to make the washer balance beats the purpose of energy star.
I will give this model a second change, as the washer will be replaced in a couple of days. Hope the problem is the washer it self and not the whole line of product...
My old Frigidaire front load washer didn't have this type of issue and it lasted 14 years.
Pablo Vasquez We're sorry for your trouble, Pablo! Since your washer is brand new, your out of balance loads may be a result of the installation of your machine. Please ensure the shipping bolts were removed upon installation and that the leveling legs were properly adjusted. Details can be found in our following link:
ua-cam.com/video/RyXLw4S_h2c/v-deo.html
We are happy to help if further assistance is needed!
GE Appliances I have read the manual and the installation bolts were removed and the washer was properly leveled (4 top sides + top middle) before starting the machine for the 1st time. The hoses are draining properly. The only problem (a major one) is that the spin cycle last forever and at the end of it, the items are still soaked. As previously said the spin cycle only worked with smaller loads (which to me is a non sense).
I will receive the replacement washer tomorrow. Hoping the problem is an isolated case.
Pablo Vasquez
Thanks for getting back with us. It sounds as though you have been very thorough with your trouble-shooting. We expect excellent results with your replacement washer. If any additional questions come up, be sure and let us know!
Hi all,
I received my replacement washer and the spinning cycle is working properly. The spinning cycle takes less than 10 minutes to end and the items are not soaked as they use to with our first GE washer.
It seems that the first washer had a problem, because the replacement washer is working properly.
Hopefully our new GE washer and dryer will last for many years to come.
Have a nice day to all.
Pablo Vasquez
We are delighted to know your issue is resolved and that your new GE washer is working well! Thanks so much for your update!
don't get GE because if ur towels are wet u do a spin again whirlpool is amazing because u put in large loads like towels like a family load of towels like 14 towels at ones if u like a extra rinse it will spin super fast with GE with extra rinse with 14 towels all not spin and whirlpool will spin super fast with extra rinse!
In the video, notice how things are wringing wet and knotted up? Well, the clothes weren't put in all knotted up. In my experience, anything with legs or sleeves consistently tie knots in themselves. And, I can't help but think that the detergent industry and the washing machine industry are in cahoots because as soon as my front loader starts, empties the detergent dispenser and gets the clothes wet, the machine stops. I have to drain it, put more soap in and restart it. I don't even have to rearrange the clothes!! I absolutely HATE my front load washer.
Do you mind sending us your model number so that we can take a look?
GE lost my business from their washing machine that can't balance a load. Seriously it goes off balance ever few loads this tax season I'm replacing it with another brand and banning GE products from the house. We had a GE fridge that was part of their class action lawsuit that should have been a sign about their quality.
+Glock Lover Just got a brand new Samsung washer that spins out perfectly. No long spin BS with my Samsung the GE machine should be under a class action as it does not work properly unless you wash a full stuffed machine any partial loads and it bangs like a rock drum.
+DarkRaptor99 You want to try and support and American company that actually makes their products here. It didn't really matter the GE washing machine was made in China not blaming them either they can also build quality stuff if the product is engineered properly.
Omg my GE washer is brand new and it’s already saying “re balancing load” on the final spin, is this normal
@@candlelove0952 If you have the chance still I would return it.
DarkRaptor99 thanks! What do you recommend me get instead
I have a whirlpool duet, I'm going back to a old May tag top loader and trashing this crappy washer

I will never ever ever have a front loading machine AGAIN! NEVER All always unbalance!!! Never a problem with top loading!
Eddie Novak I have had 2 Maytag, a Whirlpool, and an LG, all front load. Never had a balance problem with any of them. Now I have a GE that makes me want to pull out my hair.
Preach!!!
Amen! Never again. Forever unbalanced. Clothes smell even after continually running washer empty with expensive cleaners, cleaning filter, leaving open after emptying. Repeatedly having to take clothes out to redistribute, only to have it run, “balancing load”, for two hours, over and over. Finally said, Fuck It, and took clothes to laundromat. $800.00 plus down the drain. What a worthless piece of crap!! 💩💩💩
I wish I read this before buying a GE, never again. They will never get a cent from me. My washer is only a year old and already giving me hell!
OH my god, this is a problem i never had with my washer . In Holland we always use frontloaders, but much higher quality. My Miele 487 WPS is 10!!! years old and never, really never failed with spinning or any other problem. Offcourse the Miele is not always ballenced BUT my miel tries 3times to find a got ballence if not .... the spin doesn't start slowly but it starts POWERFULL in a few seconds it spins at 600 rpm and will increase if possible untill 1800 rpm no time lost in ballencing.....
front load washer OP.
This is the ABSOLUTE WORST front loader I’ve ever used.
my LG had a sensor where if I wanted to put only a washcloth in, it would run completely. this maytag is a piece of junk.
Is the Maytag a top loader
I hate side loading washing machines. Can't add anything as soon as you hit start, a stupid gasket to worry about tearing, and they go out of balance way too easily. Top loaders are way better.
you've got to be kidding me right? i totally agree with your "reasonable load" advice...but "similar fabric"? so let me get this strait...not only we have to sort out the color and white garments, but now, we have to sort out similar types of fabrics, too? i am sorry, but i can assure you that 99% of the consumers are not going to be able to do that. let me ask you a question, would you do that? gotta be kidding me.
Hello Ra's al Ghul, Thanks for your interest in our new GE washers! We’re happy to help. We can understand your concern regarding sorting fabrics. However, it is important to separate lint producers (flannel, cotton knits, terry towels) from lint collectors (fuzzy, brushed fabrics, synthetic blends. ex. corduroy, acrylic blankets, children's sleepwear). The video is referring more to the weight of the clothes. Separating heavy items, such as towels from light items, such as curtains. This is so that the weight is evenly distributed. I hope this helps!
I agree. This is stupid. I have the same problem. Total crap! My machine dances all over the place. It moves between 4 to 8 inches away from the original spot. I know because I marked a line by edges on the floor. Pathetic!
Wtf
Had my front load washer 10 days. This thing is a hunk of junk. I want my money back GE.
So, did you get your money back?
Agree....If I could, I’d pick this piece of crap up, and throw it out on the curb. $800.00 dollars down the drain!! Grrrr!! 😠😡
BUT YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAMN CYCLE!!
Hello Spidaminida, your front loader will automatically try readjusting the load for you or you can try it after the cycle is completed like the video explains. Let us know if you have additional concerns. -SF
I have tried the pause & restart and the machine will start going in the opposite direction & often fix itself.
Sorry forgot to mention mine is whirlpool & has a pause button without stopping the wash ( door is still locked ) but when restarted the tub goes the opposite direction sometimes fixes my situation. I am aware I overloaded the washer 🤣
There is no drain and spin that's the problem it's rinse and spin all i need is more water in this stupid useless machine would never buy these again !! GE should stick to toasters

None of the videos pertain to balancing a washer.
Yes there is one but you have to take off back undo all plugs take out everything till you get white plastic rings that holds rubber in place REPLACE it it's likely got a crack they all do if they continue this balancing problem
Toby, most of our models do not require you to remove the back to locate the model and serial number. If you need help locating your model and serial number, click the link below for more information:

@@geappliances My ge gfw450ssmww is spinning and shaking the house. It is about 13 months old. My wife has hated it since we bought it. I don't know why I bought a new washer if it only has a one year warranty. I should have got a good one.
For the price i paid for this fancy thing i shouldn't be watching these videos. But very least you could do is tag the next video below. 🤦♀️🤦♀️
I found this video to be a waste of time
