During its release time, only 4 theatres were allowed to release PADAYOTTAM due to lack of 70mm screens with 6 track stereophonic sound system facility and the only 4 theatres released this movie are as follows TRIVANDRUM ATHULYA.S.L.THEATRES(AUDI 1.ARIES PLEX S.L.CINEMAS NOW ) ERNAKULAM SARITHA TRICHUR RAGAM KOZHIKODE APSARA During its release, TRIVANDRUM NEW theatre was 70mm (now not.....since 1999 after the release of BADE MIYAN CHOTE MIYAN they undergo maintenance and removed 70mm screens VIP row meant for VIPs once it was blocked for TRAVANCORE ROYAL FAMILY MEMBERS,some political leaders and MOVIE STARS and their representatives)but they never opt for UDAYA or NAVODAYA movies as it is owned by their business rival MERRYLAND P.SUBRAHMANIYAM...ALL UDAYA ...NAVODAYA movies were released either AJANTHA or CENTRAL...among these AJANTHA was not 70mm then ...but latter it became 70mm(even now) Now in TRIVANDRUM only ARIESPLEX S.L AUDI-1 & AJANTHA have 70mm screens In ERNAKULAM SARITHA and SHENOYS(Now I don't as SHENOYS going under maintenance/renovation) TRICHUR RAGAM(I've never been to TRICHUR) CHALAKUDY SURABHI CALICUT NOTHING....Before BLUE DIAMOND was 70mm and APSARA has removed 70mm screen This information was given by PADAYOTTAM cameraman late Sree RAMACHANDRA BABU during a personal talk rest no one from film field can talk about this genuinely as most of them give wrong informations Although RAMACHANDRA BABU being the DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY of PADAYOTTAM the dangerous crane shots were done by cameraman J.WILLIAMS(late) one more thing although it was an experiment of projecting 70MM movie in Kerala so the TEAM NAVODAYA did a preview show in all 4 theatres before its release...during the preview show in TRIVANDRUM ATHULYA.....the picture was overlapping the screen so the camera man and the team instructed the theatre management to increase the size of the screen S.L.Theatre(ARIES PLEX S.L.CINEMAS now) was inaugurated on an auspicious day of VISHU with the release of PADAYOTTAM(Innaugural show) and it was inaugurated by Sree K.KARUNAKARAN who was CHIEF MINISTER OF KERALA THEN ABOVE ALL:TEAM NAVODAYA WAS SO ADAMANT THAT ALL KERALA AUDIENCE SHOULD FEEL THE REAL EXPERIENCE OF 70MM SCREEN WITH 6 TRACK STEREOPHONIC SOUND EFFECT .... My favourite movie. Don't know how many time I've watched it since my first theatre experience. It walks you through the heights of emotion, conflict, distress, anguish and retribution. High drama throughout. It never ceases to haunt you. Truly a work of genius.
