My mom said it was OK. So, I'm here. Greetings from the BIG SKY.
I love it when you make a mistake and share it. “Green tape”, like none of us can relate? Thanks. You’re the best.
Excellent, just excellent. Like your choice of music also. Thanks for the video young lady.
Thanks for watching
Sweetheart you are so inspiring to other people including young women who want to work with their hands and minds! God in heaven is blessing your family and I know you love God and family so keep your faith and never never think Your forgotten or forsaken because MY GOD LOVES YOU!
Not surprised my mom told you I could watch this video. She loves me.
Beautiful desk. Lovely period piece. It needs a special place in a matching period environment. Great job as usual
I've come to the conclusion that everything that is made by man needs to be repaired, touched up, rebuilt, re glued, from one time or another. The trick is to start with something that is worth saving and has a bit of quality to it Great to see you have rescued a worthy piece.
So glad you didn't remove all of the "life experiences" out of this desk. I love some of the ding's after all it shows it was used and loved.
The love and care you give furniture makes me so happy. If I’m stressed you make go away, thank you for sharing your talents and work! Much appreciated 😊
Looks great . nice to see such superb craftsman ship repairing & refinishing 100+ year old craftsmanship !
Dogs are the best shop companions,i always pick up furniture from the trash. And restored a few and have kept a few myself.keep up the good work and the calming videos.peace....
I seriously, seriously, seriously doubt you asked my mom. I enjoyed your video anyway.

Thankyou
Great job young lady! Beautiful desk. I think you are right, it's ready for another 100 years! Very nice job!
Thank you so much!
Yay! Another video! You have some of the best attention grabbing titles! This is my favorite UA-cam channel, as I always seem to learn something new or different every time. 😎👍🏻💯
Awe. Thankyou!
I like that you took the time to restore the drawers on the inside. Great attention to detail as alway Trena. Nicely done! Scott
Thanks Scott!
Greetings from the BIG SKY. She said 'sure'.

You really are a master craftswoman. Thank you for the enjoyable video.
Background kitty stealing the show 😂❤
Beautiful work, as always
it is wonderful that you show mistakes ... AS we all do .. and rectify it .. thank you for sharing xx
I smiled when you said you wound up taking apart all the drawers... surprised me not a whit. LOL
PS.. it's beautiful
Yep, always getting myself into more work
When you said you were only going to do the two drawers, I laughed and knew you couldn’t leave those nails in there on the other drawers. Lol!!
Lol. Ya.
I have learned so much watching your channel. Now when I refinish a piece of furniture I think “ how would Trena start this project.
You always bring your love in making the furniture back as they used to be. I always enjoy watching your way of working.
Thankyou
You're welcome
I love that you didn’t need to stain it and it’s own beautiful colour came through so beautifully.
As a former smoker, there's nothing memorable about cigarette burns! LOLOL Thanks for sharing your videos. You do very lovely work.
Thankyou !
You do really good work.
Oh dear ..the tape , it is nice to know that even the experts can be like us mortals ! Your honesty is very endearing
Thanks! Lol
Absolutely beautiful, I love watching you make these pieces beautiful again!
This is a fun channel. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Слав богу что ты есть у меня и у людей.🥰🥰🥰
I’m a consulting geologist, but a few years ago I started a side business of making custom furniture for people. Over the years friends have come to me with antiques and family heirlooms to see if I could repair them. I think I have done a respectable job on the repairs, much aided by your videos as I have learned methods and techniques from you that I would have never figured out on my own.
I recently restored a fold top writing desk for a friend. Her father, a carpenter, had made this from a plan from Woman’s Day magazine in the late 60’s. He used walnut and it was beautifully done based off the methods of the day. After he passed she inherited it, but it had lived in a barn in Ohio for about a decade, so it was pretty rough.
I did not make it new,as you pointed out with the cigarette burn, I left the character, but made it fully functional and structurally sound.
When I returned it to the owner I found myself with a joyfully weeping woman in my arms for nearly a half hour. I can completely see why you do this as the satisfaction is off the charts.
Thanks for the “tutorials” and please keep teaching us.
Wonderful story! Good job sir!
Ah, Shop Dog has a new kitty friend.
A lot of love goes into your work. Second life. We are too much of a throw away generation.
Original craftsman really loved wood; the way he did that center drawer bottom. He was showing off.
i agree
it's always enjoy to watch your vidéos and your work is perfect hope you got pleasure in your work as we have more satisfaction to see this congratulations and have a good week
Oh yes. I love my job
Thanks. I appreciate that😅😂❤🇺🇸
Mine is so far away, but she would love your refinishing! Just as I do!
Beautiful Trena. That top is gorgeous. I have a vanity just like that in my bathroom that I refinished years ago.
Enjoyed the video Trina. The desk looks great. Looks like shop dog has a new friend. You all take care and God bless.
The title alone deserves the thumbs up, too cute!
Lol
It's a real pleasure to watch you work. Nice job with the dramatic piano at the end!
Gorgeous. You really bring out the character of the wood.
Fantastic restoration Trena. Love the intro. Very Thomas Johnson-esque
Oh my! That’s gorgeous! You are amazing.
Well done, I always struggled with knowing how much toner was enough. I agree with you about the burn mark, it’s now part of the desk.
This piece is stunning. Better then original IMO. The toner made it all so uniform. But really didn't mind it before the toner either.
Nice work, as usual. I love the new opening!
It looks like a new piece of furniture. Another excellent job!
Liked your title for this video. "I asked your mom...."!!
Definitely good for 100 plus years.
Nice Job ! The color work really tied it all together
Loved listening to your dog panting 🐶
Love the tape mistake, I so relate! Gorgeous restoration too!
Great tip on the green tape! and the demonstration, totally intentionally by the way, was a great visual aid to remind us! Thanks for your Teaching moment! :D
You are so welcome!
Trena, so beautiful! Always look forward to the end result. Quite an amazing job!☺❤
Thanks mom!🥰
I do remember seeing this type of furniture when i was young i recognise the handles straight away and the dovetails ,i do believe some manufacturers did use a walnut base for the drawers due to the upper market in the society and also used cheaper version base for the lower market once again the blue eyed Canadian skills given to her by her father and the love of wood top notch video.
😉
Trena it was beautifully restored, as always!
Love the tip of the day piece!
You know, when you were originally gluing down the veneer repair pieces, I THOUGHT I saw some green tape still under the new veneer insert, but I immediately dismissed the thought, as I said to myself, "Nah, Trena would NEVER makes a mistake like that." and she surely would not leave it in the video if she had. But, at least you were honest and were willing to admit that you are not quite the Goddess I was under the impression you were, but I totally respect your owning up to your oversight. I consider myself to be REALLY perceptive and good at anticipating strategic moves three or four moves in advance in any project, but I, too, find myself making the rare mistake such as the one you made. Hey, it just proves we're human - and that's a good thing. Carry on refinishing.
Yep mistakes are part of the process
Trena, Love your intro musicAnother beautiful job Trena!
Thankyou
J.S. Bach's cello suite for piano is lovey accompaniment to the tall trees. We really enjoy watching you do your magic on these pieces of furniture. Bruce, Karin, Halgrim (German Shepherd) and Bella (Belgian Shepherd) from central Germany.
Many thanks!
I hope the furniture I am working on right now comes out Half as nice you do such beautiful work
Thankyou !
I love that you show your mistakes!
Another beauty brought back through your amazing talent!
Trena, nice to see that even the professionals cut their thumb, hope it didn't hurt too much. Love your work
I actually just but my nails
Too short. 😑
What ever, you still look good@@johnsfurniturerepair
Tom here; (Gayle's husband); I do this type of work in ND. Love Mohawks products and
so fun to watch a master at work!!! (A Navy shipmate in Maine turned me on to your channel!!) desk is total killer!!!!
awesome thanks!
Thats such a pretty little desk. 😍😍😍
Beautiful piece beautifully restored. Well done.
Very beautiful restoration. I loved the wood grain on the top and the drawer bottoms.
Your kitty and Nessa sort of stole the show though! 😂❤
Yep.
Loved the intro to this video with ShopDog going through the woods, also seeing your new kitty playing in the background. Beautiful work as always. You can tell how much pride you take in your work and I enjoy your videos very much.
Thankyou so much!
Really beautiful piece!
Another beautiful restoration, I just love watching you work.
When I saw 'Shop Kitten' playing and then creep under watching you work, I thought.. No!, please don't jump on the desk top.... luckily not. 🙂
👍👍🇬🇧
She’s pretty smart and I got my eye on her as she learns how to be a good shop kitty 🥰
@@johnsfurniturerepair 🤗
Wow the tinting really made a difference to the end result.
Oh Trena, you're the oasis in the world of restoring older furniture correctly. I see so many videos of refinishers that don't want to take the time and just paint it. Some mass produced pieces I can agree can be painted. Others are such are a mistake.
Thankyou
I'm sorry to say that, but even if you're doing a fantastic job on this piece, your little cat stealth the show when on screen. Too cute! 😽 You simply can't compete!!! Congratulations from France
lol i agree
It looks brand new. Nice job, as always.
Are you sure? My mom’s pretty picky with what I am allowed to watch. 😊
She took some convincing
Awesome job as always Trena, you must be busy packing for your move, big job, but you must be excited going back to your Dad's shop and working with him....I wished I still had my dad around to work on stuff with him....Enjoy every moment!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Danny//

Great job Trena! and kudos on the Tape mystery! nice to know even the professionals can have a "moment" also! thanks for sharing. ECF
Your welcome! Cheers!

Thanks Terry
" Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication " " Everything you can imagine is real " Less is More huh ! , this is one of your best transformations, not your most technical but surely mind pleasing to watch, really enjoyed this before and after, really beautiful ! love the desk too 🙌
Looks like Shop Cat is having fun on a scratching post ?? 😊
I always enjoy and learn a bunch watching you do that thing you do so well. Thanks for clearing it with Mom!
Lol no problem 😉
Beautiful restoration as always Trena!! But I have to say, I know that it's John's Furniture Repair because you learned most of what you know from your father and it is a legacy. But you really should put your name in there too!! You know "John's Furniture Repair by Trena" maybe? Anyway, I love watching your restorations. Keep up the awesome work!!
Thanks Lori!
Another beautifully finished piece.
Very nice restoration. The desk looks so beautiful. 😄
You always do what you do with so much Love, especially treating these pieces of wood as they are kind of living beings❤❤ This reminds me of watching my dad doing the same when I was little. Brings memories of him now in heaven...😥
19:23 aww but look at that smile! You learned something so hey that's still great! :)
not sure if you call it learning or just remembering to look before i glue
Its obvious you've been educated in the proper way to restore a fine piece of furniture. Your choice of finish is exquisite. I can't wait to see what's next!
Thankyou !
Very impressed with your colour corrections.
