Nobody here cares about your hair or the bags; you're beautiful to the faithful. We only care about you as a person; your health and well-being comes first. Videos are a bonus.
As for me, I was just thinking about you earlier today, and I meant to check FB to see if you'd posted any updates as far as your move, and all that.
    Take care of yourself. Sincerely.

This was a pleasant surprise to see your notification pop up, and it didn’t long to get into the video, wonderful surprise, thank you. I have, as I recall, never seen a piece made of Elm wood, but the graining is beautiful, shame to have to cover it, but, customer gets what they ask for. Nice repair/ restoration on the component parts. I enjoyed this video immensely. Now, as for you young lady, you must feel like your in a rat race right now, and I have experience what you are going thru, what worked for me was to walk away from it all for a few hours, get a cup of really good hot, black coffee, a disgustingly good desert and a real good book, find a corner in a coffee shop, and enjoy, trust me, it felt like I could accomplish an 8 hour work day in 3 hours, and it carried thru for a few days, it was refreshing. I wish you the best, be well.

I was so excited to see another of your videos. I know you are trying to move and I am just happy you actually gave us one of these. I have to tell you - My mother purchased a danish modern teak dining table in 1970 or so. The poor thing had been badly used and abused for the last 15 years in a family member's smoking and drinking garage. It had water marks, sun fading, cigarette burns, deep scratches, etc. I almost cried when I saw it. WELL - using everything I have learned from you, I fixed it. It still has signs of the years it has gone through, but it is beautiful It will be my dining table in my home. I am so proud and happy and I owe it to you and your videos. Sorry for being so long winded but I wanted to tell you thank you!
PS - I think that fabric is oilcloth. Oilcloth, also known as enameled cloth or American cloth, is close-woven cotton duck or linen cloth with a coating of boiled linseed oil to make it waterproof.

How have you been affected by the wildfires in Canada? Here is Detroit, Michigan we have a lot of hazy, smoke filled days. The wind keeps carrying the smoke from Canada into Michigan. Our air quality has been terrible. The desk turned out beautiful. Your work is impeccable. The integrity of the piece is still evident even though you had to make repairs and restain it. Your customer must have been very pleased. Please take care of yourself, rest and stay safe. I am sure that you will be very happy living so close to your family. Your garden is spectacular.

My late wife and I had a cabinet like that, with that same glass, from the early 1700s. We gave it to a collector neighbor of ours, rather than risk it, driving across country from Philadelphia to San Diego. Decades later, I'm convinced it was the right decision.

    • @Zardox2

I’ve missed you and your videos, but had gotten so used to you not being here that I only saw this video late this afternoon, instead of two days ago when it was posted! I’m glad the move went well. I made a huge move in 1995 from California back to Texas after my husband and I decided to end out 27 year toxic marriage. I drove a Budget truck with 27 ft of cargo space, a tow dolly and my Miata
and began my new life. And….life is good!

You mention the glass here. I think it is so interesting how it was made.
From what I understand. they would blow like a big wine bottle, QUICKLY lay it on a sheet of metal, then cut a seam lengthwise and let it fall flat. Can you imagine the work and skill involved in that? It took them a while to figure out how to press it, for some reason. Call me crazy but your channel is entertainment plus.

Just recently “found” your channel and just wanted you to know I have learned a lot watching you repair furniture. It has make me a little more confident attempting to refinish 2 very old dressers. You are a very good teacher. Hard for me to believe anyone would criticize your finishing choices but I think people find it much easier to be very critical and complain when they are anonymous. Not that you need my “approval” but I think you do an awesome job. Girl…you got skills…most men would be envious of so don’t give the “haters” any credibility…just keep doing what you are doing. When you finish with things I have NO DOUBT they looked better when you got finished that they did when they were new! I live in Mississippi and we don’t have many of the awesome products you use…wish we did…but we have a big “throw away” culture here. 😢

Historical note: Raleigh, North Carolina, was once known as the City of Elms, then came the Dutch-Elm disease that killed all the known stands of Elm in North America. Now she is known as the City of Oaks.

We had Dutch Elm here in the UK aswell, it's brutal once the tree is infected that's it, plus you have to clear any trees around it. Lovely to see our master craftsman back, to be honest I don't think we were expecting to see you again until after the move. Moving house is stressful enough anyway and that's without moving a workshop aswell, children will cope they are pretty resilient. You need to take a day out just for you, it's more important that you are well both physically and mentally. ❤️👍

Lovely restoration and good to see you. Your garden looks great. Youve got the touch. About that black cloth. When I was small, long ago, a piece of that cloth was tucked in with my school supplies every year. A three foot square piece, along with one of dads old shirts to be used as a paint smock were required art equipment. On the day we had Art class we covered our desks with it before we began creating. Its duck cloth, very closely woven that is coated in boiled linseed oil to make it waterproof. Its called oilcloth or even American cloth, and is still available in hardware stores, DIY stores and even fabric stores. It was fun to see it.

My personal preference is always leaning towards the reddish stains. But when it’s a customer’s piece and they want to preserve the heritage of the piece I’ll do my best to match the existing. What is interesting is to see their reaction to just having it cleaned. Often that’s where a customer wants to stop.

I hope the move went well and that you have "recovered" from it. I kind of hear in this video you are talking "above" your lungs as you do when on a time crunch. As you said, moving is stressful at its best, moving home AND business it a whole other story. Looking forward to see you work in your new place, and thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of furniture. So beautiful with that wood tone. A statement piece!

I was so happy to see a new video drop from you. I've been thinking about you often and the daunting work to move home, business, family, and stock. I hope it went as well as it could. The new property looks AMAZING and I hope you will take us on a walk about after you have caught your breath and had some time to acclimate and settle in. The piece looks amazing. Take care Trena. You've got a lot friends out here pulling for you.

Such an outstanding job Trena! You are such and artist! I’ve always said Thomas Johnson is the Julian Baumgartner of furniture repair in the US. I can say the same for you being in Canada. I have to say I am so sorry for the fine people of Windsor losing your shop. Being home with friends and family, well you can’t put a price on that. I know one thing, if I lived in Canada and needed something refinished or repaired, I’d drive it to you shop. See you in the next installment.
