Trena: I enjoy this channel so much! There are other good refinishers out there, but with you is like watching a master class every time. You just know what to show and explain so we feel like we are right there with you.
For those of you who might be contemplating going into the furniture repair business I'm going to start listing the hand tools, machine tools and supplies needed to operate successfully.. Today's entry would be 'wood clamps' ..I've calculated that a minimum of 500 wood clamps should be on hand at all times... Beautiful job as always..
Great work - as usual. I wish that I had a Dad that had taught me about woodworking. I learned my skills in high school when they had programs as such in the 1960s. Around Scottsdale, AZ, those programs have disappeared.
The burl in the wood is so beautiful now! It looks like a brand new piece straight from the manufacturers! You have done a spectacular job especially with all the repairs that you don’t see! Love it Trena! 🤗🇦🇺
I've been binge watching your videos for days!!! I'm so enthralled! To the point where I watch other channels "doing restorations", and I find myself saying that's not right at points. Thinking Trena would have this taken apart. And truly if you want to repair and restore you have to break it down, in my opinion. Simply because of aesthetics. Doing it right the first time.
@@johnsfurniturerepair never ever be sorry for passing along proper technique. I'm not. It just gives me the courage to do it the correct way. I love all things wood. It breaks my heart to see lovely things poked full of metal, fillers, and glues in an intrusive way. I get the fact not everyone is as "particular" as I am(aka anal). So I'm grateful for your content
Again, A true furniture Restoration artist! A beautiful finish. Without doubt, my fave finisher. You succeed where furniture makers often struggle with and that's is achieving such a luscious finish. Well done.
The picture reminds me of my dresser when it was new and as it appears now. It's hard to call, but knowing when a piece of wood is toast is something one has to see to understand.
The two side pieces that had the most beautiful patina are my favorite. I think the whole piece came out beautiful, I sure hope the owners don't hide those sides.
Somehow the finished piece brings to mind the word "SCRUMPTIOUS". Thank you for a wonderful hour. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
You have taught me to slow down on my refinishing. I started woodworking 35 years ago and now have more time to slow down! Switching to gel stain has been interesting. It has its benefits for some projects.
High FIVE Trena! The perfect project to showcase your diverse skills and patience. The matched burl veneered drawer fronts are beyond beautiful.....heavenly! Crazy how pretty the inside of the drawers are. No video is complete without a cameo by Nessa.
Making the world beautiful one piece of furniture at a time, you truly are a master of your craft, thank you so much for all the work you put into these videos and for sharing your techniques with us, I was blown away by how beautiful this turned out.
Sometimes when you display a final finish I catch a look on your face which seems to say, "yeah, all of my hard work and attention to detail just paid off big time." You earned that look of satisfaction.
Ok, you win. I have been working under the assumption that I don't need to stain anything and that I prefer to work with the color of the wood, making small changes for instance with shellac colors. Your work here shows me how much I have to learn. Gorgeous.
I love how you get the drawers all tight and flying straight. I use Minwax Paste Finishing Wax on my wood to wood glides. They slide like they are on ball bearing glides! Another amazing rehab....great work!
Trena, another good blog, turned a good looking piece of furniture into a stunning piece with lots for shine and all ‘aged’ the same, draw fronts looked amazing. Plus we had a guest appearance from shop dog, doesn’t get much better then that. 👍🇬🇧
What a BEAUTIFUL, magnificently done restoration of this fine piece of furniture! These are the types of transformations that are a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing your work with us!
Probably one of the most meticulous and professional restorations I have seen. On equal footing in every sense with Tom Johnson. It is a showroom quality piece. Can't wait for the third piece.
@Trena~ That burled walnut veneer is spectacular! You brought this dresser back to life with impeccable craftsmanship. The owners of the two pieces you've now completed must be thrilled! I got a good laugh when you said you'd done a fair bit of swearing when working on the drawers......I feel you Sister, I'm fluent in shop swearing too! HAHAHA! ;-) But seriously, that burled walnut veneer is to die for! I covet veneers & solid slabs of wood that reflect the life cycle of the tree it came from. There's something so breathtaking about seeing the "natural figure" and grain revealed in the milling process:...burled, curly, quilted, flamed, spalted, bird's eye, fiddleback. I'm especially mesmerized by the unique grain patterns, bark inclusions, and color variations found in crotch wood milling. Have you ever watched one of Matt Cremona's UA-cam videos of him milling up a huge maple log crotch section, on the custom mill he designed and built himself? If you ever have time, check one of them out....it is oddly satisfying, entertaining and relaxing! Trust me, you'll dig it ;-) LOL. CHEERS! ~~Christy~~
I love matt Cremona, he is a genius! i love figured woods, i think they are just simply amazing, the solid figured furniture Matt makes is breathtaking! thanks again Christy!
You’re so busy because you have integrity. Taking the time and making the effort to fix the cause and not just the symptoms is rare these days. Made me a subscriber. 👍
It's always hard to say what I'm more impressed with. All those nails in the dovetails, eek. The aligning of the drawers, such detail. Just bringing life back to an old piece. When that stain goes on, it's a sheer thing of beauty! Great job as always. I'm sure the owners can hardly wait to get their pieces home. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us. 🙂👍
Beautiful work and I love how you brought it all together; very detailed. I appreciate the reasons you gave that corrects the damage is very helpful. Thanks.
Now then JFR, I live in England, we are the Kings (and Queens) of furniture. This is an absolutely beautiful Walnut set of draws. In fact, I might just fly over to Canada and try to buy it off the owner.....but I don't think they will part with it....you rock Girl....peace to ya.

Very nice job on the dresser. The decision to change the back came as no surprise, its how a professional operates. I really like, what I call, the book matched, drawer fronts veneer.
